Folsom

Woodrow W. Folsom, Jr. 78, of Highlands died Friday, March 7, 2014 with his family present.

Woodie was born September 1, 1935 to Woodrow Folsom, Sr. and Flora Bell Cobb. In August 1953 he married his wife Bettie and in 2013 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson John Keith Folsom, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bettie Jane Folsom; sons: sons Kenneth Folsom and wife Shannon and Keith Folsom and wife Doris; grandchildren Krystal and Byron McBride, Brett Folsom, Kayla Folsom and her fiancé Jordan May; great grandchildren Tristan and Coby Hinshaw, Ryland, Madelynne and Morgan McBride, Natasha and James Jacks; sisters: Joy Smith and Dorothy Williams; brothers: Jimmy Folsom and Jerry Folsom, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Woodie was a man of The Lord and loved to preach the gospel any chance he got and to anyone who would listen. He was a mechanic and a carpenter for his entire life. He could fix anything out of nothing and would never ask or expect a thing in return along with being a Millwright by trade. If anyone ever asked for a small repair or something to be made, Pappy was the first word that came to mind.

A visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., where funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Charles Foshee officiating.

Interment will follow in Magnolia cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Chavez

Jose Refugio Martinez Chavez, 54, died Friday, March 07, 2014 in Liberty, Texas.

Visitation will be Monday, March 10, 2014 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Services Chapel at 300 Alabama in Liberty, Texas.

Interment will be in Ojo Alienate Zacatecas, Mexico

Clay

Billy Ray Clay Sr. age 77 of Moss Bluff-passed away Saturday March 8, 2014 in Liberty.

Billy was born in Wills Point, Texas October 18, 1936 the son of the late Homer W. Clay and Sarah Taylor Clay. Billy enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. He worked as a long shore man for over thirty years at the Port of Houston, and was a past volunteer at the Moss Bluff Volunteer Fire Department. His true love was his wife of fifty-six years Betty June Moore Clay and his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his son, Billy Ray Clay Jr., daughter Tammy Simmons, Brothers; Woody Clay, Frank Clay, Larry Clay, Ronnie Clay, and a sister Barbara Casey.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife Betty Clay, sons; Jeffery Lynn Clay and Rance Wade Clay of of Moss Bluff, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Billy also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and dear friends. Visitation will be held Monday March 10, 2014 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A Celebration of Billy’s life will be held 10AM Tuesday March 11, 2014 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Fairlawn cemetery.

Soileau

Everette “Bugs” Lynn Soileau, 61, of Mt. Belvieu, Texas died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in a local hospital. He was born in Baytown, Texas on December 17, 1952 to Everette and Edna Soileau.

Bugs enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all coaching little league in Mt Belvieu. He was also the former owner of Western Auto in Mt. Belvieu.

Bugs is survived by his cousin Rex Green and wife Monica Taylor, of Old River Winfree, Texas and many friends.

A Memorial Celebration of Bugs life will be conducted on at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. in Dayton, Texas.

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Tanton

Henry Don Tanton, 58, died March 5, 2014 in Baytown.

He was born August 17, 1995 in Liberty to parents Henry Lee and Gladys Tanton. Henry was a lifelong resident of Liberty.

A memorial service for Mr. Tanton will be 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Open Home Ministries Church, 3605 North 146 in Liberty.

Mr. Tanton is survived by his wife: Rosalie “Cookie” Costello; sons: Robbie, Eric, and Tommy Tanton; daughter: Lisa Tanton; sisters: Velie Whitmire, Lilllie Marcontell, Betty Joe Cotton and Becky Laird; brothers: Bill and Bobby Tanton; step-children: James Costello, Chris Todzro, & Beatrice Todzro; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Arrangement under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Ligons

Deacon Lawrence Ligons, of Dayton, Texas departed this life Wednesday, March 05, 2014 at Liberty Dayton Hospital in Liberty, Texas.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 09, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Service Chapel at 300 Alabama Street in Liberty, Texas.

Funeral services are Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM. He will lie in state at 09:00 AM until time of service at Turkey Creek MBC at 1600 Wallisville in Liberty, Texas with Pastor A.K. Thomas, officiating.

Interment will follow in Wells Memorial cemetery in Liberty, Texas

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

James

Nolan James, 81, of Anahuac passed Mar. 02, 2014.

Service will be held Saturday, March 08, 2014, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 1110 Hamilton St., Anahuac, TX. Visitation from 10AM until funeral at 11AM. Interment will be in Bayshore cemetery, Anahuac.

Mr. James was preceded in death by parents:

David and Berth James, wife: Iola Harrison-James and daughter: Lenola “Linda” James.

Cherishing his memories are children: Lee Daniel James of Anahuac, Gwendolyn Evett James of Houston, Lola Hill (Wayne) of Anahuac, Thelma Lewis of Anahuac, Curtis Washington of Houston and Sandra Guillory (Glenn) of Baytown. Siblings: Al James Jr., Margie Edwards and Carrie Edwards all of Houston. 16-Grandchildren, 14-Great Grandchildren, 6-Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Colwell

Reita Katherine Norman Colwell, 66, of Liberty died March 6, 2014.

She was born December 13, 1947 in Liberty, Texas to parents William Ole Norman and Reita Lucille LaFour Norman. A lifelong resident of Liberty she graduated from LHS in 1965 and continued her education at Lanier Business School. Reita was quite the cowgirl and was TVE rodeo queen in 1964. She was a bookkeeper for the Texas Highway Department and Locke Insurance before retiring. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, tending her flower garden, and feeding her birds.

Services for Mrs. Colwell will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2014 at Middleton Memorial United Methodist Church in Wallisville. Interment will follow at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Mike Farabee, Mike Nugent, Cody Odell, Phillip Wools, Leon Sonnier, and Shawn Havard. Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy Wilcox and Bill Cody Odell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harrell Colwell, Jr., her grandson, Jacob Michael Farabee, and her father-in-law Harrell Colwell, Sr.

She is survived by son: Lloyd Alan Griffith of Liberty; daughters: Jo Lynette Farabee & husband Mike of Liberty, Scotty Lynette Nugent and husband Michael of Liberty; grandchildren: Megan Farabee, Mikaela Farabee, Kelsey Duff, and Cody Duff; great-grandchildren: Maci & Kelby Duff; sister: Sue Anne Gothard of Liberty; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

George

Othel Eugene George, 69, of Dayton, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at the Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Othel was born September 12, 1944 in Newport, Arkansas, to parents; J. P. George and Edna Nichols, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Dayton for the past 18 years. He was a veteran of the US Army with service during Vietnam, a retired mechanic, and member of the Family Worship Church and VFW Post #5621. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Mr. George was preceded in death by his father: J. P. George, mother: Edna Nichols Currel, daughter: Susan Hanlon, brothers: Woody, David, and Gordon, and sister: Ann. He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Bertie Fowler George of Dayton, daughters: Eugenia Joe George of Arkansas and Sharon Sweat of Humble, sons: Eugene George of Arkansas and Terry Carrington and wife Nancy of Dayton, brothers: Charlie Russell and James Paul George and wife Judy, sisters: Cindy and Becky, grandchildren: Thomas, Johnathan, and Keith Hanlon, James Warner, George Pacovsky, Charles Mayon, Chelsea Hanlon, and Francis Cannon, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Dunham

Mildred Louise Smith Dunham, 80, of Conroe died Wednesday, March 05, 2014 after an extended illness.

She was born September 22, 1933 in Carpenter, Mississippi to parents Otis David Smith and Ernie Mae Crouch Smith. She attended school in Jackson, Mississippi and moved to Texas during the 1950’s where she lived for many years in the North East Houston area. Mrs. Dunham enjoyed embroidery and taking care of her family. She truly loved cooking for her family.

Service for Mrs. Dunham will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Morehouse officiating. Interment will follow at 12:00 p.m., at Rosewood cemetery in Humble. Visitation will be Saturday morning prior to service time.

Mrs. Dunham was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years: Joseph Norman Dunham, her sons: William Ray Dunham, Robert Earl Dunham, and Ricky Lee Dunham; brothers: Jimmy Smith, Bill Smith, and Lee Smith; grandson: Louis “Tooters” Hohn. She is survived by her daughters: Patricia Ann Lukasheay and husband Billy of Conroe, Brenda Joyce Hohn and husband Louis of Dayton, and Rita Faye Thompson and husband Mark of Virginia; her sons: Richard David Dunham of Conroe, and Joe Norman Dunham, Jr. and wife Sher of Buna; grandchildren: Angela, Michelle, Joshua, Joanie, Billy Jr., Richard, Delana, Laura, William, Amanda, Beth, Dakota, Josie, and Bella; numerous great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; brother: Ronald Smith of Mississippi; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lee

Larry “Joe” Lee, 73, of Hardin, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Joe was born February 28, 1941 in Romayor, to parents; Ike and Ellen Moulder Lee, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in the Hardin area for the past 22 years. He was a graduate of the Hardin High School class of 1958, a retired turnaround planner for ExxonMobil of Baytown, and member of the Hardin Baptist Church. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, working cattle, and especially spending time with his family.

Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his father: Ike Lee, mother: Ellen Moulder Lee, brother: Milton Lee, and sister: Donna Reeves. He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Billie R. Smith Lee of Hardin, daughters: Kristi Jones of Dayton and Cindy Barham of Baytown, brother: Ebb Lee and wife Patricia of Livingston, sisters: Cheryl West of Coldspring and Lori Lee of Dallas, sister-in-law: Anna Mae Lee of Leggett, grandchildren: Kelsey Jones, Kameron Jones, and Elizabeth Barham, great-granddaughter: Sadie Grace Jones, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Taylor

Emma Louise Taylor, 78, of Liberty, died Sunday March 2, 2014.

She enjoyed crocheting and number painting. She was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle of Liberty. She taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She loved spending her time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Doris Whitmire; step-father, Morris Taylor; brothers, Samuel Whitmire, James Taylor and Richard Taylor.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 62 years, Reverend Nolan Taylor of Liberty; sons, Larry Taylor and wife Raffey of Liberty, Donald Taylor of Liberty, Richard Taylor and wife Carla of Raywood; grandchildren, Larry Taylor, Jr. of Liberty, Karen Taylor of Hardin, Caleb Taylor and wife Shallen of Raywood, Braxston Taylor of Raywood; great grandchildren, Garrett Vail, Derrick Vail, Alyssa Taylor and Allyson Taylor; sisters, Nana Young of Daisetta and Ethel Mae Cooke of Hardin.

Her family will receive friends at the Assembly of God Church of Daisetta on Tuesday March 4, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 5, 2014 at the Assembly of God Church of Daisetta, officiated by Reverend Lamar Shane and Reverend Nathan Hendrix. Interment will follow at Hillside cemetery in Liberty.

Serving as pallbearers will be Sim Able, Kenny Fregia, Caleb Taylor, Howard Young, Clayton Taylor and Trey Hendrix.

Service of remembrance under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Service 40847 Hwy 105E. Batson, Texas 77519.
