Harvey Stewart Jr. 66 of Liberty died Feb. 08, 2014.

Services will be Feb. 15, 2014 at St. Miles Baptist Church in Ames, TX. Visitation will begin at 10AM until funeral at 12Noon. Interment in Mt. Zion Church cemetery, Moss Bluff.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wendy Stewart.

Harvey is survived by his sons Philli, Malicolm, Stephleon, Cornelius, the mother of his children Mellinee Gilmore and two daughters Wrenette and Melissa. His adored sisters & brothers : Mary (Oscar)Grays, Linda (Jerry) Trahan, Gwendolyn-Gail(Sylatha) Biley, Willie & Bobby Stewart, Darrell Stewart (Shelia), Arthur(Doris) Stewart, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephew’s relatives and friends.

Mr. Stewart’s services has been entrusted to Proctor’s Mortuary, 518 Miller St. Anahuac, TX.

Hogan

Alvey J. Hogan, Sr., 76, of Dayton, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, with services concluding thereafter. Private interment services will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Alvey was born January 29, 1938 in Rising Star, to parents; A. J. and Ruby Hines Hogan, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in Dayton for the past 35 years. He was a graduate of Munday High School, veteran of the US Army, retired operator from Exxon Chemical in Baytown, and the owner of the Silver Dollar, HWY 321 Icehouse, and the 321 RV Park. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, wood working, building clocks, and sports.

Mr. Hogan was preceded in death by his parents: A. J. and Ruby Hines Hogan, step-daughters: Jamie Burton and Susie Cooley, and sister: Wanda J. Hogan. He is survived by his son: Joel Hogan and wife Laura Hogan of Dayton, daughter: Rhonda Richardson of MN, stepdaughter: Cynthia Deluna and husband Louie of Dayton, brother: Joseph Hogan of Argyle, grandchildren: Erika, Allison, Brooke, Cynthia, Blake, Brianna, and Cassie, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Driggers

Lewis Eley Driggers Jr, age 64 of Conroe, died in The Woodlands on February 13, 2014.

Lewis was born August 24, 1949 in Eufaula, Alabama, son of the late Lewis Driggers and Christine Watkins Driggers. Lewis received his bachelor’s degree in journalism and spent most of his life writing for newspapers. He traveled all over the world and he used his wheelchair for mobility. He loved photography and writing and worked very closely with the Spinal Bifida Association.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, sister, Sheila Rucker and husband Jerry of Conroe and brother, Curtis Driggers of St. Thomas.

Services for Lewis Eley Driggers Jr will be Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11am at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin with Gideon Watson officiating.

Pantalion

Melba Louise Pantalion, 82, of Hardin, died Thursday February 13, 2014.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a hard working woman along side her husband, Monk Pantalion, who preceded her in death. She was an amazing mother and grandma who loved her children and grandchildren. She was always willing to help and she always spoke her mind. She was a wonderful sister and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monk Pantalion; parents, Walton and Idella Shaw; brothers, Dale Shaw, Leon Shaw and Gerald Shaw.

She is survived by her children, Joey Pantalion and wife Sue of Hardin, Jerry Pantalion of CA, Cecilia Drake of Hardin; brothers, James Henry Shaw and wife Brenda of Spurger; sisters, Dorothy Arnold of Cleveland and Virginia Richardson of Brooklyn, TX; grandchildren, Clayton Drake and wife Aimee of Mauriceville, Toby Drake of Tomball, Kim Wolfe and husband Paul of Hardin, Kristi Hart of Hardin, Matt Pantalion and wife Kacey of Liberty, Terra Pantalion of CA, Teena Pantalion of CA, Tonya Pantalion of CA and Jason Pantalion of CA; great grandchildren, Zane, Reed, and Kinlee Drake, Brent Wolfe, Tylar Wolfe, Lane Pantalion, Dallas Pantalion, Breanna Pantalion and Jaykob Hart; numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.

Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services on Friday February 14, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 15, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Liberty, officiated by Reverend Sebastion Myladiyil. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Pantalion, Steve Dennison, Tim Pantalion, Jim Ray Armstrong, Randy Pantalion, and Bobby Bruce. Honorary pallbearers are Zane Drake, Reed Drake, Brent Wolfe, Jaykob Hart, Lane Pantalion, Durwin McCreight, and Danny Albro.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Harvell

Agnes Harvell died Friday, February 07, 2014 in Conroe, Texas.

Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Service Chapel at 300 Alabama, Liberty, Texas.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. She will lie in state at 9:30 AM., at New Bethel Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas with Pastor John Walker officiating.

Interment will follow in Jones cemetery in Liberty, Texas.

Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama, Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Creech

Judy Ann Creech age 67 of Liberty died Thursday February 6, 2014 at her home in Liberty.

Judy was born in Morehead, Kentucky October 16, 1946 the daughter of the late Everett Norris and Ethel Richey Norris. She worked for many years at Walmart as a cashier and was a member of the Olive Bethel Church of Hardin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sisters Vicki Kincaid, and Sharon Barricks.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Melissa Medsker and husband Mike, Pamala Padilla, sisters; Bess Pelkey and Betty Miller, brothers; Sam Norris, Danny Norris, Marion Norris, Jerry Norris, and Jimmy Norris. She also leaves her boyfriend Daryl Searles, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas.

Brand

Travis Ward Brand, 91, of Liberty, died February 8, 2014.

He was born July 22, 1922 to Ward I. Brand and Ruby Pendley Brand. He was a life-long resident of Liberty. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1939, then he attended Sam Houston State University but left after volunteering in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He married Ruth Donnette Tadlock on December 7, 1949. They had two children, Kenneth Ward and Donna Kay. In 1949, he started and ran Brands Conoco Service Station for 10 years. After selling his business, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service and he also farmed cotton and soy beans for 25 years. After retiring from the Postal Service, he worked for 12 years for the City of Liberty as the manager for the Liberty Airport. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class of Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ward I. and Ruby Brand; grandparents; grandson, Kenneth Paul Brand; sister, Mary Lee Gayle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth Donnette Brand of Liberty; daughter, Donna Kay Potetz and husband John Paul of Liberty; son, Kenneth W. Brand and wife Katherine of Liberty; sisters, Lorayne Telford of Liberty and Dorothy Teel of Liberty; grandchildren, John Travis Potetz and wife Jodie, Marcus Travis Brand and wife Sine, Drew Potetz and wife Carolyn, Cullen Potetz, all of Liberty; great grandchildren, Tessa Brand, Travis Ward Brand II, Hayli Brand, Dustin Brand, Jenna Kay Brand, Jace Potetz, Emma Smart, Alicia Smart, Josie Burkett, Justin Burkett, and Janna Burkett.

He enjoyed his grandchildren, playing his saxophone and playing golf.

His family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church of Liberty on Tuesday February 11, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 11, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church of Liberty, officiated by Reverend Lindsey Smith. A private interment will follow at Liberty City cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Marcus Brand, John Travis Potetz, Drew Potetz, Cullen Potetz, Dustin Brand and John Paul Potetz. Honorary pallbearers are the Men's Bible Class of the First United Methodist Church of Liberty and Harvey Joiner.

Hajdik

Jerome S. “Jerry” Hajdik, 78, of Dayton, died Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the East Houston Regional Medical Center in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held prior to services. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jerry was born December 24, 1935 in Wallace, to parents; Joseph and Louise Skarpa Hajdik, and has been a lifelong resident of Dayton. He was the former owner of Jerry’s Grocery, veteran of the US Army, and enjoyed gardening, and making sausage.

Mr. Hajdik was preceded in death by his father: Joseph Hajdik, mother: Louise Skarpa Hajdik, brother: Joe Hajdik, sister: Eleanor Prochazka, and brothers-in-law: Richard Johnson and Leo Prochazka. He is survived by his son: Michael Hajdik and wife Stacy of Dayton, daughters: Dolly Lanier of Spring and Jerrilynn Reed and husband Larry of Dayton, sisters: Mary Johnson of Houston, Mildred Sodolak and husband Alvin of Houston, Alice Buras and husband Ted of Houston, and Margie Chovanec and husband Ladd of Houston, mother of his children: Zoetta Croft of Liberty, sister-in-law: Aline Parker of Dayton, grandchildren: Josh, Rachel, Tiffani, Kelsey, Kali, Mikayla, and Chris, great-grandson: Zackary, his faithful companion: Chester, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Barnett

Jimmie L. McPike Barnett, 76, of Houston, died Friday, February 7, 2014, at Park Manor of The Woodlands.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the Center Hill Baptist Church with burial following at the Center Hill cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Jimmie was born December 28, 1937 in Oakhurst, to parents; Jimmie Lee and Becky L. Caswell McPike, a former resident of Corpus Christi, and has resided in Houston since 1978. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts and drawing.

Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her father: Jimmie Lee McPike, mother: Becky L. Caswell McPike, and brothers: Jessie and Carlbert McPike. She is survived by her husband of 41 years: Jerry C. Barnett of Conroe, daughter: Janelle Short and husband Charles of Conroe, stepdaughter: Shelley Estep of Dallas, stepsons: Keith A. Barnett and wife Chrissy of NV and Larry Barnett of MD, brother: Robert W. McPike of Houston, grandchildren: Jeremy C. Burke, Chip Estep, Cody Barnett, Dillon Barnett, and Nicholas Barnett, great-grandchildren: Chloe, Clara, and Hannah, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

South

Dianna Kay South, 57, of Shepherd, died Friday, February 7, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with services concluding thereafter. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Dianna was born June 3, 1956 in Kansas City, MO, to parents; Fred A. South and Frances J. Atkinson, and has resided in the Shepherd area throughout most of her life. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Shepherd where she taught Sunday school, and a Member at the Cleveland Senior Center.

Miss South was preceded in death by her stepmother: Doris South, brother: Stephen Arnold South, brother-in-law: Thomas Stein, and nephew: Jonathan Allen Dorough. She is survived by her father: Fred Arnold South of OR, mother: Frances J. Atkinson Baggett and husband Charles of Shepherd, sisters: Sherrie Lynn Stein of Shepherd and Elaina Sue Dorough and husband Wayne of Coldspring, nephews: Charles Brandon Stein and wife Whitney of MO and Patrick Ryan Stein and Amy of Houston, four great-nephews: Justin Lee of CO. Braiden, Chasten, and Denton Stein all of MO, and numerous other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Brosseit-Ward

Mildred Polley Brosseit-Ward, 54, of Dayton, died Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services held at 1:00 p.m., at the Garden Park cemetery in Conroe. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mildred was born October 7, 1959 in Baytown, to parents; Robert A. and Lou Dell Breeden Polley. She was a former resident of Houston and has resided in Dayton for the past 14 years. She was a file clerk for Kroger in Atascocita with 34 years of employment and enjoyed gardening, her pets, and spending time with family.

Mrs. Brosseit-Ward was preceded in death by her father: Robert A. Polley. She is survived by her husband of 14 years: Donald H. “Don” Ward of Dayton, son: Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin A. Brosseit of the US Navy, mother: Lou Dell Breeden Polley of Dayton, sister: Rebecca Garcia and husband Leroy of Karnes City, brothers: Robert E. Polley and wife Melanie of Deer Park, Barry L. Polley of Pasadena, and Phillip E. Polley of Dayton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Downs

Barbara J. Thetford Downs, 67, of Daisetta, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Cross Plains cemetery in Cross Plains, TX. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Barbara was born April 13, 1946 in Rising Star, to parents; Harold Thetford and Bobbie Mae Watson, a former resident of Cross Plains, and has resided in Daisetta for the past 32 years. She was a homemaker, member of the First Assembly of God in Daisetta, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, and camping.

Mrs. Downs was preceded in death by her father: Harold Thetford, stepfather: Ted Casey, daughter: Sierra Ethridge, stepdaughter: Rhonda Downs Luce, sister: Margaret Owens, and grandparents: Troy and Myrtle “Mae” Watson. She is survived by her husband of 32 years: Johnny M. “Buddy” Downs of Daisetta, sons: Gary E. “Eugene” Ford of Cross Plains, James B. “Brian” Ford and wife Jennifer of Daisetta, and Corey Ford and wife Heather of Liberty, stepdaughters: Jody Guidry of Daisetta and Susan Bell and husband James of Channelview, stepson: Johnny M. Downs, Jr. of Daisetta, mother: Bobbie M. Watson Casey of Cross Plains, sisters: Debbie Mathis of Cross Plains, Sandra Abernathy of Brownwood, and Pam Thetford of Cross Plains, brother: Max Thetford and wife Linda of Brownwood, son-in-law: Buddy Luce of Daisetta, 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
