Mitschke

Jerry M. Mitschke, 62, of Dayton, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Dayton with interment held at the Houston National cemetery. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jerry was born February 16, 1951 in Houston, to parents; Lawrence L. Mitschke and Doris N. McGrew, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Dayton for the past 26 years. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps with service during Vietnam, a retired operator for the Abitibi Paper Mill in Sheldon, member of the First Baptist Church. He supported the First Baptist Church in its Hoops and Nets program for youth, and politics through the Tea Party. He also enjoyed sports, singing, and collecting.

Mr. Mitschke was preceded in death by his father: Lawrence L. Mitschke, mother: Doris N. McGrew Collins, sister: Tommie Nell Cowdrey, and stepbrother: Bill Collins, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 40 years: Theresa S. Lewis Mitschke of Dayton, daughter: Vicky Michelle Mitschke of Dayton, son: Jerry “Michael” Mitschke of Dayton, sisters: Barbara Sue “Babs” Feagin of CO and Linda Gay Kent of CO, brother: Larry Louis Mitschke of Hempstead, mother-in-law: Betty Ann Lewis of Dayton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Meachum

Lydia Hulda Meachum, age 91 of Daisetta, died at Fairy’s Landing on November 13, 2013 in Hull, TX.

Lydia was born April 15, 1922 in Brenham, TX, daughter of the late Albert and Ida Franke Arndt. Lydia loved to garden and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all.

Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, husband; John Meachum Sr, three brothers and a sister. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters; Ida Beene and husband Larry of Tyler, TX, Mary Barrier and husband Tim of Hull, sons; J.B. Meachum Jr and wife Kandy of Katy, TX, Albert Meachum and wife Janet of Dayton, grandchildren; Sandy Morris, Jason Meachum and wife Kaytte, Chris Meachum and wife Cindy, Justin Barrier and wife Hayli, Joshua Meachum and wife Tracie, Amanda Pavliska, Ashley Madrigal and husband Ryan, great-grandchildren; Anna and Natalee Barrier, Kaylin and Korbin Pavliska, Piper Meachum, Alaina Madrigal, Kallen and Memphis Meachum and a host of friends.

Services for Lydia Hulda Meachum will be Saturday, November 16, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Daisetta at 2pm with burial to follow at Oakdale cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 15, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Crocker

Robert "Bobby Glenn" Crocker, Sr., 71, of Baytown, died peacefully at home on November 9, 2013 after a long Illness.

He was from Hardin and graduated from Hardin High School in 1962.

He is survived by his wife Judene Walters Crocker to whom he was married for 47 years; two children, Elizabeth Crocker of Pasadena, Robbie Crocker, Jr. of Baytown; grandchildren, Antonio Villarreal and Kirklen Villarreal; sister, Linda Wylie of Liberty and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Swin Crocker and mother, Mabel Finley Crocker; sister, Patsy Gayle Young.

He was a veteran, serving in the Army in the Vietnam Era. He retired from the Port of Houston after 34 years. He is an honorary lifetime member of I.L.A. Local 1438 (Boatmen). He loved to fish, hunt and ride his tractor. He loved sports and was an avid Texas Longhorn Football fan for many years. He also loved his dogs. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed.

His family will receive friends on Friday November 15, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel. A service of remembrance will be 11:00 a.m. Friday November 15 2013 at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel, officiated by Reverend David Stark. Interment will follow at Moss Hill cemetery in Moss Hill.

Powell

Jennie May Powell, 81, of Thicket, died Friday November 8, 2013.

She was a woman of many talents. She liked things to be in their place and keeping a tidy house. She was a woman of great hospitality and a friend to all. She loved to cook and to invite people over to share a meal with them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She always gave more than she took.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sewell and Florence Kennett; daughter, Vena Elizabeth Anderson; brothers, Irving Kennett, Robert Kennett and Frank Kennett; sisters, Rita Churma and Sara Humes; grandchildren, Earl Hill and James Corbet Hill.

She is survived by her children, Sheila May Anderson, of Hull, Charles Anderson, Jr. of Hull, Paul Gilman Anderson and wife Teri of Charlestown, RI; sister, Lina Burnham of Limerick, ME; grandchildren, Jeremy Anderson and wife Kim, Jared Anderson and wife Angel, Jennifer Anderson, Bobby Hill, Marie Murphy, Charlie Murphy, Melissa Hart, Scottie Powell, Misty Powell, Ronnie Hughes and April Hughes; great grandchildren, Mickayla Ferguson, Marli Ferguson, Landry Hill, Jackson Hill, Keaton Hill, Daniel Brindamour, Jasmine Hart, Elizabeth Hart, McKenna Anderson, Landree Anderson, Isaiah Anderson and Jacob Beaureguard; great great grandchild, Gwen Lallo.

Her family will receive friends at New Life Assembly of God of Batson Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held Monday November 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God of Batson, officiated by Reverend Bill Campbell. Interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket.

Williams

Patricia Ann Chesson Williams, age 65, of Ragley, Jefferson Parish, LA., died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.

Services for Mrs. Williams will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Pace Stancil Funeral, 1304 N. Cleveland, Dayton. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton. Pallbearers will be Kevin Williams, Jacob Williams, Christopher Williams, Caleb Williams, Dale Jones, Jacob Shaver and Michael Williams. Visitation will be Friday, November 15, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Patricia was born Friday, July 9, 1948 in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, LA to parents Marshall and Angeline Granger Chesson. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Bradley Williams and brothers; Walter, Marshall, J.B., John and Allen Chesson. Mrs. Williams is survived by her sons; Michael Williams and wife Michelle, Kevin Williams and wife Sandy, daughters, Melisa Jones and husband Dale, and Angela Williams all of Dayton, granddaughters; Candace Shaver and Kelsey Jones, grandsons; Jacob, Caleb, Christopher, Nicholas and Devin Williams and Johnny Smith, brothers; Joseph Chesson, Leroy Chesson, sisters; Gertrude Breaux and Sue Gomez, 4 great grandchildren & 1 on the way and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Kimbrell

Billie F. Wright Kimbrell, 76, of Old River, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Billie was born April 24, 1937 in Dayton, to parents; Coley E., Sr. and Pearl Wright, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in Old River for the past 10 years. She was a homemaker, Baptist by faith, and enjoyed Ping Pong, dominoes, baking, the beach, and especially spending time with her family.

Mrs. Kimbrell was preceded in death by her husband: Glenn E. Kimbrell, daughter: Theresa G. Kimbrell, her parents: Coley E., Sr. and Pearl Wright, and sister: Peggy Labo. She is survived by her daughters: Ginger Bell and James Thomas of Old River, Gail Kimbrell of Canada, and Glenda Hall and husband Mike of Alvin, brother: Coley E. Wright, Jr. of Dayton, sister: Evonne Wright of Dayton, grandchildren: Ceceilia Jordan, Brenda Prigmore, Shawna Bell, Amie Bell, Robert Hall, Stephanie Hall, and Christina Hall, great-grandchildren: Justin, Miranda, Brianna, and Veronica Jordan, Cassie, Chris, and Travis Wells, Bobby Broyles, Samantha Jones, Angelina, Little Robert, Elisa, Joseph, and Leslie Hall, one great great-grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Ford

Dorothy Fay Russell Ford, 90, died Thursday, November 07, 2013 in Liberty, Texas.

A memorial service for Mrs. Ford will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. E. B. Beasley and Rev. Jon Stouffer officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mrs. Ford was born December 29, 1922 in Huffman, Texas to parents Leonard T. and Wilmer Lindley Russell. After she graduated from Starville High School, Dorothy attended business school and later worked in the oil and gas industry and was a Desk and Derrick Club member in Beaumont before marrying M.W. Ford, Jr. Dorothy has been a longtime resident of Dayton where she was active in many organizations. She was a member of the Woman’s Club, Stitch and Chatter, Priscilla Club, DAR, DRT, Quilting Club, Dayton and Liberty Art Leagues, and the Order of the Eastern Star, . She was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, attended the Mary Martha Sunday School Class, and participated in the United Methodist Women. Dorothy was a talented seamstress and loved quilting. She was an accomplished cook and was well known for her delicious baked goods that would appear at friend’s homes.

Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Iris Russell Fallier, and her granddaughter Elizabeth Bajgier. She is survived by husband of 56 years, M. W. Ford, Jr. of Dayton; daughters: Gina Bajgier and husband Gary of Houston; Dr. Jessica Johnson and husband John of Dayton; grandchildren: Sam Mazzu, III and wife Tracy of Houston, Dorothy Jo Landry and husband Ryan of Bulverde, Boone Bajgier and wife Rebecca of Utah, Esther Bajgier of Houston, Ruth Ann Bajgier of Houston and William Johnson of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren: Mason Milo Landry and Georgia Mae Mazzu; brother: Leonard Thomas Russell of Beaumont; first cousin like a sister: Charlene Leonard and husband W.S. “Bud” of Beaumont; and numerous, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mixon

Helen Mixon of Liberty, Texas died Tuesday, November 05, 2013.

Visitation will be Friday, November 08, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Wells Funeral Service Chapel at 300 Alabama, Liberty, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 09, 2013 at Trinity Valley Missionary Baptist Church at 801 Sam Houston Street in Liberty, Texas at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held from 09:30 A.M. until the time of service, with Reverend Amos Mosley officiating.

&nb sp; Interment will follow in Wells Memorial cemetery in Liberty, Texas.

Wells Funeral Services has been entrusted with final arrangements.

Brock

Betty Jean (Long) Brock, 85, of Houston, TX, died Sunday November 3, 2013.

Betty was the youngest child born to Reginald B. and Bird (Baker) Long on Sept. 1, 1928 in Post, Texas. Her parents and sister, Doris “Sissy” (Long) Temple preceded her in death, as did her devoted husband of 50 years, Bill Brock Sr.

Betty was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping and current events.

Betty was raised in Anahuac within a close, loving community of family and friends. She was a graduate of Anahuac High School, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the basketball team and the choir. Upon graduation, Betty relocated to Houston to attend secretarial school. There she met and married the love of her life, W.A. (Bill) Brock Sr. of Bartlett, TX. Betty and Bill, a WWII veteran, married at the First Baptist Church of Houston on Nov 1, 1948. They have two children, both of which survive their parents, Bill Brock, Jr. of Houston, TX, and Brenda Brock Barclay de Tolly of Rhode Island.

In addition to her two children, Betty is survived by 5 grandchildren: Marlys Brock, Hillary Bowman, Abby Duff, W.A (Alex) Brock III of Tennessee, Lela Barclay de Tolly and son in law Paul Barclay de Tolly of Rhode Island. She also has 10 great grand-children, extended family and life-long friends who will all miss her sharp mind, generous, sweet spirit, and her keen sense of humor.

Betty was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and daughter. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and parents at Anahuac cemetery in a private graveside service. A gathering to celebrate Betty’s life will be held in Anahuac at a later date with details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made in honor of Betty Jean Brock at the charity of your choice.

Cremation services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home.

Wilson

Deeya Uzell Majors Wilson, 46, of Willis, Texas passed away Friday October 11, 2013. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren.

She loved going to garage sales and shopping. She also enjoyed tending to her rose garden.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Wilson; four children, Jamie Wilson, Jennifer Wilson, Edward Wilson and Melondy and Joshua Wilson and wife Diana; 9 grandchildren; father, Delbert Majors; mother, Shirley Ewing and husband Chester; brother, Dean Majors and wife Nina; sisters, Deborah Thompson and husband Jon, Carla Moore and husband Robert, Colinda Carbaugh and husband Robert, Constance Sangco and husband David, Christel Roach and husband Doug; step-sister, Diane Arnst; step-brother, Ronnie Ewing; brother-in-law, John Wilson and wife Lee; sisters-in-law, Shayne and Dawn; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday November 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith and Family Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Bill Campbell.

Gibson

Glyn Gibson of Anahuac, Texas died peacefully Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Arboretum of Winnie following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Glyn was born on September 6, 1927 in Zavalla, Texas to parents Elmer Gibson and Rosa Emma Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters, daughter; Debbie Gibson Morrison and her husband Brent.

Glyn is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Maggie Valentine Gibson, son James Gibson and his wife Kemper, grandchildren Leigh Vayon and husband Zane and Dallas Gibson, half-sisters; Alice Elliot and Linda Thibodeaux.

Glyn joined the United States Army at age 17 and served his country for 2 years as a small arms mechanic post W.W. II. Following this stint in the service he attended Modern Barber College where he learned the trade he would practice the next 57 years. He owned and operated Gibson’s Barber Shop in Anahuac for 54 years.

A man of few words, he loved working in his yard and quietly sitting on the back yard deck surveying his labor.

Glyn will be remembered as a kind, soft spoken man whose greatest pride was his family, whom he loved dearly.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas. Services will be Friday, November 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas with Interment at Anahuac cemetery.
