Daniel David New, 74, of Dayton, died Saturday, September 21, 2013, in Humble.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Daniel was born May 16, 1939 in West Point, MS, to parents; William and Addie Gann New, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Dayton for the past 10 years. He graduated high school in AL, attended Lee College, and was a retired contract painter. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and camping. Mr. New was preceded in death by his father: William New, mother: Addie Lou Gann New, brother: Charles E. New, and son: Charles Delano. He is survived by his wife of 28 years: Virginia Harrison New of Dayton, daughters: Tabitha Dyson and husband Troy of Liberty and Doe Onna Bellows and husband Kirk of Temple, son: Mark Delano and wife Windy of Huffman, grandchildren: Sarah, Tyler, Aaron, Rachel and husband Troy, Jonathan, Lydia, Audrey, Shelby, Harrison, Audrey, Bradley, Matthew, Nicholas, Crystal, and Christopher, great-grandchildren: Sage and Makaylee, nephew: Kevin New and wife Christine and their daughter Faith of TN, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pyron

Ryland N. Moore Pyron, 26, of Coldspring, died Friday, September 20, 2013, at the Conroe Regional Hospital in Conroe. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Coldspring with private family interment at Oakwood cemetery in Coldspring. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Coldspring. Ryland was born January 13, 1987 in Austin, to parents; Jay Moore and Kathy Pennington, and a lifelong resident of Coldspring. She was a graduate and member of National Honor Society of the Coldspring High School class of 2005, and attended Sam Houston State University. While she enjoyed flowers, crafts, and photography; her heart and soul were her children and her husband. She is survived by her husband of four years: James C. Pyron of Coldspring, son: Lane B. Pyron of Coldspring, daughter: Kelcie N. Tallant of Coldspring, father: Jay Moore and wife Lori of NC, mother: Kathy Terry and husband Jack of Coldspring, brothers: Zach Lloyd of Coldspring and Ethan Moore of NC, sister: Audrey Moore of NC, grandparents: Ferrell and Norma Moore of Houston and Charles and Margaret Pennington of Coldspring, parents-in-law: Kenneth and Cynthia Pyron of Baytown, and numerous other relatives, and friends. In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the Bridgehaven Children’s Advocacy Center at P.O Box 220 - Dayton, TX 77535 in Ryland’s name.

Townsend

Larry Steven Townsend, age 55 of Humble, died September 21, 2013 at his residence in Humble.

Steve was born May 12, 1958 in Liberty, TX, son of Daniel Townsend Jr and Edith Armstrong Townsend. He attended Aberdeen High School in Scotland and graduated in 1976. He was a master electrician by trade and was self-employed. Steve was a family man. He enjoyed taking vacations with his family and loved taking pictures with his camera. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He will be missed by all.

Steve is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Gay Townsend of Humble, sons; Eric Stephen and David Michael Townsend of Humble, daughters; Sarah Elizabeth and Christine Faith Townsend of Humble, parents; Daniel and Edith Townsend, brother; Daniel Hubert Townsend and companion Paul Haltom of Austin, TX, sisters; Sharon Camille Townsend of Austin, TX, Larie Ann Woodhead and husband Joe of San Leon, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Larry Steven Townsend will be Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin, TX. Visitation will be Monday, September 23, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm in the chapel at Allison’s.

Bellard-Winters

Eva Bellard-Winters, 77, died September 17, 2013 in Baytown, Texas.

There will be a visitation on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 1:00 pm-6:00 pm at Wells Funeral Service Chapel in Liberty, Texas. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 24, 2013 . She will lie in state from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames, Texas, with the rosary to begin at 10:00 am. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am with Father Sixtus Iwuji officiating. Interment will be at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic cemetery in Ames, Texas Wells Funeral Services at 300 Alabama in Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with the final arrangements.

Remsing

William “Bill” Randall Remsing, 68, of Dayton died Friday, September 20, 2013 in Houston after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Charles officiating. Interment will follow at Linney cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Bill was born October 18, 1944 in Liberty to parents, William John Remsing and Katherine Sprayberry Remsing. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he graduated from Dayton High School and was Baptist by faith. He was retired from local 211 where he worked for many years as a welder. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and trade days.

He was preceded in death by his father, sisters-in-law: Shirley Ulkie, Lounelle Rascoe, and Alice Cleveland, brothers-in-law: John Ulkie, Douglas Bell, and Billy Brandon. He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Linda Murphy Remsing of Dayton; his sons: Randy Remsing of Dayton and Kevin Remsing of Dayton; his grandchildren: Brandi, Colby, Landon, and Bryan Kevin Remsing; mother: Katherine Remsing of Dayton; brothers: Dale Remsing of Colorado and Darryl Remsing of Arizona; sister: Judy Remsing of Dayton; sisters-in-law: Mary Ward and husband Bob of Baytown, Patsy O’Neill and husband Dale of Hardin, Loretta Bell of Hardin, Debra Strawn of Hardin, Janice O’Neill and husband Colin of Conroe, and Kathy Brandon of Hardin, brother-in-law: Buddy Murphy and wife Mary of Huntsville, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Howser

Leota Mae Howser, 92, of Liberty, Texas died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at her home with her family by her side.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Tx. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in Cross Plains cemetery, Cross Plains, Texas. A gathering of Leota's family and friends will be Monday, September 23, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home.

Leota was a devote Christian, baptized at age 13 in Cross Plains, Texas. She was a member of Liberty Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Ladies Bible Class. In her younger years she sold shoes and worked at the florist shop that her great aunt owned. She worked as a seamstress from her home for the public. Her most important and treasured job was being the Matriarch of her family, raising her children, holding her family together and being the peacemaker. Leota enjoyed traveling, painting, needle point, gardening, and cooking. She was famous for her pies and yeast rolls.

Leota is preceded in death by her parents; Mary and Edmond Long, daughters; Mary Theresa Howser, Jackie Karen Peel, and her brother; William Nathan "WN" Long.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons; Wayne Howser, wife Stephanie, James Howser, wife Sherry, grandchildren; Jennifer Brightwell, Hollie Powell, Jonathan & Nicholas Howser, Michelle Young, Michael Peel, great grandchildren; Drake Hunter, & Colt Aaron Brightwell, Caleb Elijah & Sarah Elizabeth Powell, John David, Charles Edward, & Thomas Andrew Young, and host of other family and friends.

Thomas

Shirley Ann Thomas, 80, of Anahuac, Texas died Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Spring Branch Transitional Care Center with her family by her side.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

A graveside service will be held in Anahuac cemetery at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. A gathering of Shirley's family and friends will be Tuesday, September 24, 2013, from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, Anahuac, Texas.

Shirley was a secretary for the JP's office in Anahuac for many years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. Above all else, Shirley loved taking care of her family.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; Mildred and Harry Sterrett, husband; Alfred Paul Thomas, Jr., and her grandson; Jeremy Thomas.

Shirley is survived by her sons; Paul Thomas, wife Tammy, Randall Thomas, Vance Thomas, wife Melissa, Daniel Thomas, wife Tami, Steven Thomas, grandchildren; , Christopher, Brandon, Jordan, Courtney, Jaret, great grandchildren; Hagen and Madison, and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Paul Thomas, Vance Thomas, Daniel Thomas, Steven Thomas, and Brandon Thomas.

Boyle

Bertie Lee Boyle, age 91 of Liberty, died September 15, 2013 at Liberty Health Care Center in Liberty, TX.

Bertie was born August 3, 1922 in Oberlin, LA, daughter of the late Issac Elias Sandefer and Gertrude Broussard Sandefer. Bertie was a housewife most of her life and was also a registered nurse. She received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Joseph’s. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Bertie was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Edward C. Boyle, brothers; Keith Sandefer, Burton Sandefer, sisters; Iris Key, Marge Dunnam and her loving dog Benjie.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons; Tim Doyle and wife Dawn of Austin, TX, Pat Boyle of Ft. Worth, TX, daughter; Susan Warner of Deer Park, TX, grandchildren; David Warner and wife Amy, Caroline Lyons and husband Brandon, great-grandchildren; Jaden, Kaleb, Reagen and Selah Warner, Hailey and Katelyn Lyons, best friend; Christine Wissinger and caretaker; Deana Roehr.

Memorial service for Bertie Lee Boyle will be October 12, 2013 at 2pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX. Cremation services have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service.

Smith

Tommy Jerry Smith, 81, of Sour Lake, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013. He was a retired Baptist minister.

He pastored numerous churches in Southeast Texas and Louisiana. Tommy never met a stranger. He was known to many as “Paw”. He enjoyed family barbeques and rodeos. He loved to sit under his carport drinking coffee, watching his neighbors drive by and waving to them. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He will be missed by many. He was a loving husband, Daddy, Paw, and Paw Paw.

Tommy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary E. Smith. Their greatest blessing in life was their family, which they both enjoyed spending time with.

Tommy is survived by his children, Tommy Smith Jr. and wife Barbara of Sour Lake, Pattie Oliver and husband John of Port Neches, Cindy Wilson and husband Bobby of Kountze, Kathy Smith and husband Gerald of Beaumont and Susan Smith of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Chad Wilson, Clint Wilson, Ryan Lambeth, Kamryn Smith, Michael Oliver, Sheri Oliver-Ryan, Anna Oliver, Keli Oliver, Jason Smith, Brandon Smith and Cody Smith.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel on Friday July 26, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday July 26, 2013 at Rosedale cemetery in Sour Lake, officiated by Reverend Butch Perkins.

Wells

Patsy Ruth Wells, age 80 of Liberty, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2013 in Liberty, TX with her loving family by her side.

Patsy was born July 27, 1932 in Greenville, Arkansas, daughter of the late Clayton Caudle and Winnie Moore Caudle. She graduated from Eudora High School in Arkansas. She was a housewife as well as a home interior decorator. She loved painting, traveling, praying in her swing but mostly loved her family. Patsy held a weekly bible study at her home for ten years which she was very fond of. She will be missed by all.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband of sixty-two years; Joe Wells, sons; Jack Wells and wife Judy of Beaumont, TX, Ron Wells and wife Judy of San Antonio, TX, Jeff Wells of Baytown, TX, daughters; Marcie Woerner and husband Mike of Liberty, Betty Runkle and husband Robert of Liberty, sisters; Betty Griffin and husband Larry of Little Rock AR, Peggy Vining and husband Don of Little Rock, AR, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services for Patsy Ruth Wells will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Cooke cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm in the chapel at Allison’s.

Sheffield

Mark Stamey Sheffield, 55, of Dayton died Saturday, July 20, 2013.

Mark was born April 22, 1958 in Houston, Texas to parents Clyde and Jeanne Sheffield. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he graduated from Dayton High School in 1976 and attended the University of Houston. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and past member of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. Mark enjoyed outdoors, fishing, hunting, and traveling. He was employed by Exxon in Baytown for the past 24 years. Mark loved being with his family, especially his children.

Services for Mark will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Dayton with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood cemetery in Humble under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Larry Sheffield and Russell Sheffield, his niece Sarah Sheffield and great-niece Lilly Ann Sheffield. He is survived by son: Brandon Sheffield of Dayton, daughters: Alyssa Sheffield and fiancé Danny Burrell of Mont Belvieu and Emily Sheffield of Baytown; brother: Kevin Sheffield and wife Carrie of Dayton; special friend: Karen Ripkowski of Dayton; mother of his children: Cheryl Klaus of LaPorte; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; also his loyal companion Tika.

Touchet

Frank Touchet passed died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Fairy’s Landing.

Frank was born in Liberty, Texas January 15, 1931 the son of the late Agnes Cormier Touchet and Valerian Touchet. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Frank also raised rabbits, pigeons, and chickens. He worked for numerous years as a carpenter; he also worked for a service station, the City of Liberty, and for Mason’s Exxon.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife, Lorene Phillips Touchet, a brother, E.B. Touchet, and a son, William Frank “Billy” Touchet.

Frank leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters; Bonnie Wolff, Charlotte Presnull and husband Eddie, Agnes Hendry and husband Oscar daughter-in-law; Elaine Touchet, seven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 5-7PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N.Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services to be held 10AM Wednesday July 24, 2013 at the funeral home with Bro. Tim Gruver officiating. Burial to immediately follow in Oakdale cemetery.

Self

Donald Hollis Self, 65, of Winnie, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013. He was born September 7, 1947 in Silsbee.

He was a graduate of West Hardin High School, class of 1968. He was a career oil field veteran for 33 years with Texaco. First and foremost, he was incredibly devoted to his family which was a driving force for him until the Lord called him Home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eliga and Rissie Self.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Bonnie Lea Self of Winnie; son, Donnie Marion Self and wife Lacey of Winnie; grandchildren, Hallie Self, Falon Self, C.J. Self, and Morgan Self, all of Winnie; cousin Danny Self of Hemphill; uncle, E.J. Bishop and wife Shirley of Kountze.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel Friday July 19, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday July 20, 2013 at Faith and Family Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Reverend Alvin Tomlinson. Internment will follow at Oil Field cemetery in Saratoga.

Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Tomlinson, Newell Yarborough, Doug Jerome, Tim Curry, Bill Nichols and Ed Hutchinson. The honorary pallbearer will be Brian Puckitt

Freeman

Zack Freeman Jr. of Liberty departed this life on July 11, 2013.

There will be a visitation on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Wells Funeral Service Chapel, Liberty, Texas Funeral will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at St Miles Missionary Baptist Church in Ames, Texas.

He He will lie in state from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm with services to begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ervin Victoria officiating.

Interment will be at Wells Memorial cemetery in Liberty, Texas.
