Funeral services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 .She will lie in state from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas, with funeral services to begin at 10:00 am with Rev. Robert Seals officiating.

Interment will be Our Mother of Mercy Catholic cemetery in Ames, Texas

Chargois

Alvin Chargois Jr. 75, of Ames, TX; died July 15, 2013.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM, Friday, July 19, 2013, at Proctor’s Mortuary 518 Miller St. Anahuac, TX.

Mourning his departure, yet cherishing his memories are children; Tamey D. King-Ceaser (James), Zelda Chargois-Wilridge, Joseph A. Chargois (Robin), Marshall J. Chargois (Ruby), Walter R. Chargois (Michelle), Zachary Mayes and Kevin Berotte. Sister; Cynthia Childress (Jesse), Sister in Law; Patricia Chargois, numerous Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren, several Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

McGee

Patricia Pat Jones McGee, 65 of Atascocita passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Herman Memorial Northeast Hospital.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, an friend.

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. A gathering of Pat's family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 21 at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Annie Jones. She retired from Gulf Marine Fabricators. She loved going to garage sales, flea markets, and making jewelry. Pat loved riding horses. Pat loved her best friends, Cherokee, and Cleo. She was past Queen of the Red Hats, past secretary the local AARP chapter.

Pat is survived by her husband of 16 years, Charles McGee; daughters, Tammy Pitzer and husband, Mike, Wendy Parker; sons, Tim Johnson and wife, DeAnna, Dennis Boster, Jerry McGee; sister, Katherine Huntsman; brothers, Charles Jones, Richard Jones, Mark Jones and a host of other family and friends.

Jones

Janice Gertrude Martin Jones, age 71, formerly of Liberty, died Sunday, July 14, 2013, in Clifton, Texas surrounded by her family.

Janice was born in Liberty, Texas on February 10, 1942, to the late Charles B. Martin and Merle Weaver Martin. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1960 and also attended Lamar University. Janice worked in the legal field her entire career, and retired in 2000 from the Liberty County Probation Department. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, hunting, and fishing as well as going for a drive to take in the scenery. She was an avid flea marketer and bargain hunter. An animal lover, she always kept up with current events, loved to tell stories and held on fast to the ways of the past. Her special love was spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother Larry Wayne Martin.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her daughter Jena Bridgefarmer and husband Matt, brother; Charles R. Martin and wife Terry, grandchildren; Hunter and Jacob Bridgefarmer, niece; Lisa Smesny and husband Chuck, nephews; Charles W. Martin and wife Tracy, Larry Martin and wife Ashley, and Jason Martin and wife Melanie as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation for Janice will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10AM Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Fairlawn Memorial cemetery, Liberty, Texas.

Whitman

Carol Lee Morgan Whitman, 98, of Dayton died Monday, July 15, 2013 in Baytown, Texas surrounded by her family.

She was born December 18, 1914 in Nederland, Texas to parents Arthur Clark Morgan and Sylvia Pearl White Morgan. She graduated in 1932 from Reagan High School in Houston. Mrs. Whitman had been a resident of Dayton since 1943 where she and her husband Ray were owners and operators of the Dayton Cleaners. She was a member of Eastern Star, the First Baptist Church, the Joy Group, and she also taught Sunday school. Carol was well known for her wonderful talents of sewing, gardening, and cooking.

Service for Mrs. Whitman will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Dayton. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whitman was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years Ray Whitman, two brothers Hugh and Benny Morgan, sister Evelyn Taylor, and her dear friend Bea Larke. She is survived by son: Larry Whitman and wife Joyce of Dayton; daughter: Nancy Otto and husband John of Dayton; four grandchildren: Susan Marty and husband Tom, Allen Whitman and wife Pris, Bryan Otto and Jason Otto and wife Brandee; seven great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; brother: Buddy Morgan: sister-in-law: Pearl Morgan; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 202 East Houston, Dayton, Texas 77535.

Ellis

Stephen G. “Steve” Ellis, 42, of Dayton, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, in San Jacinto County.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel and conclude at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Steve was born August 13, 1970 in Atlanta, GA, to parents; Randolph Ellis and Mary C. Spencer, a former resident of Highlands, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 14 years. He was a graduate of the Channelview High School class of 1989, had attended Lee College, and was a planner for DuPont of LaPorte. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working, drawing, and Legos.

Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his mother: Mary C. Spencer Gross. He is survived by his daughter: Sarah Ann Ellis of Dayton, son: Stephen Tyler Ellis of Channelview, father: Randolph Ellis of Corpus Christi, sisters: Kim Ellis of NV and Marcy Frazier of Seagoville, nephews: Michael Howard, Brandon Caby, and Josh Thompson, niece: Kellie Howard, stepfather: Kenneth Gross, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to First Liberty National Bank scholarship fund for Sarah Ellis at 109 HWY 90, Dayton, Texas 77535.

Pledger

James E. Pledger Sr. 66 of Hull died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at his residence. He was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Oakwood cemetery in Navasota, TX under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. A gathering of James family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

James was preceded in death by his parents, J. P and Doris Emmons Pledger; son, James Pledger Jr.; sister, Patricia Burgess Enfinger; uncle, Eugene Emmons; nephews, Douglas Burgess, Ronnie Pledger. James was a truck driver in the oilfield for many years. James loved going to the races.

James is survived by his sons, Little John Paul Pledger Sr. and wife, June; Shane Pledger and Maria; Jeffery Pledger; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Pledger and wife, Judy; and a host of other family and friends.

Hatcher

Georgia Hatcher, 84 of Wallisville died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Baytown.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 18th in Guedry cemetery under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A gathering of Georgia's family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 17th at the funeral home.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Bailey Anderson Hatcher; parents, Ben and Jewel Diehl; three brothers. Georgia loved crafts and making porcelain dolls.

Georgia is survived by her sons, Allen Hatcher and wife, Donna, James Hatcher and wife, Peggy, Chad Hatcher and wife, Annette; grandchildren, Wayne Hatcher and wife, Stacie, Darrin Hatcher and wife, Shelly, Crystal Arthur and husband, Steele; great-grandchildren, Brittney Hatcher, Trey Hatcher, Bailey Hatcher, Demi Hatcher, and Trigg Arthur; great-great granddaughter, Raylea Jones; three sisters, three brothers and a host of other family and friends.

Cleveland

Sidney S. “Scottie” Cleveland, 51, of Dayton, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, in Dayton.

Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Scottie was born June 6, 1962 in Sugarland, to parents; Shepherd Lee Cleveland and Bobbie Ruth Ingle, a former resident of Cloverleaf, and has resided in the Dayton area since 1990. He was a superintendent for Bilfinger-TEPSCO of Mt. Belvieu with 20 years of employment and former construction worker. He enjoyed motorcycles, cook offs, music, and building BBQ pits.

Mr. Cleveland was preceded in death by his father: Shepherd Lee “Bobby” Cleveland and mother: Bobbie Ruth Ingle Mauldin. He is survived by his daughters: Amanda Bettis and husband Jared of Anahuac and Kristina M. Delome and husband Bobby of Dayton, stepdaughters: Kimberly Butler and husband Cass of Dayton and Natasha Sunday and husband Allen of Dayton, sisters: Sherry Goodwine and husband James of Dayton, Sissy Denmon and husband Charles of Shepherd, and Cynthia Matlock Ripkowski of Dayton, brothers: James Cleveland and wife Val of NM, Johnnie Cleveland and wife Russie of VA, and Phillip Cleveland and wife Brenda of Dayton, 12 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Richardson

Ethel Margaret Richardson 92 of Hull, Texas died Saturday July 13, 2013 at Fairy's Landing Nursing Center in Hull.

She was born in Houston, Texas on October 29, 1920 to Louis Manuel and Alice Hebert. Ethel and had lived in Hull for most of her life and was a member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Liberty. She also lived in Beaumont, Texas for many years and had worked for Gulf States Utilities, Hull drug store, and also worked in the family business Hull Hardware Store for many years before becoming an homemaker. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years James Pruett Richardson; brother Ward Manuel; sisters; Joachim Manuel and Sylvester Manuel. She is survived by her children; Jimmy Richardson and wife Nancey of Hull, Beth Roberson and husband James of Beaumont, Pat George and husband David of Austin, Edward Richardson and wife Rachel of Hull, and Jan Boley of Lott, Texas. Eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday July 16, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday July 17, 2013 at 10:00A.M. at the Catholic cemetery in Liberty.

Service of remembrance under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services 40847 Hwy 105 E. Batson, Texas 77519.

Shields

Doyle Eugene Shields, age 77 of Dayton, died July 13, 2013 in Baytown, TX with his loving family by his side.

Gene was born on July 3, 1936 in Fort Worth, TX, son of the late C.J. Shields and Margaret Wofle Shields. Gene graduated from Port Neches Groves High School in 1954. He was a salesman for over twelve years at Burnham Auto-Country. He was a member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge, past president of the Dayton Rotary Club and past member of the Dayton School Board. Gene loved to read, enjoyed the outdoors, was a faithful member of his church and loved his grandchildren. He will be missed by all.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, first wife; Benetta Wall Shields, daughter; Jeanie Lidell and brother; Michael Shields.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, daughters; Suzette Warren and husband Dr. Ronnie Warren of Florida, Charlene Kirkham and husband Matt of Houston, son; Kyle Hoffpauir and wife Anje of Arkansas, sister; Carolyn Shields of Paris, TX, sister-in-law; Judy Shields of Waxahachie, TX, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services for Doyle Eugene Shields will be Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 10am at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX with burial to follow at Palms Memorial cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 16, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Sterling Funeral Home chapel.

Loving

Harold Gene Loving, 74, of Shepherd, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Christian Cowboy Fellowship in Cleveland with burial following at Farley Chapel cemetery in Shepherd. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Harold was born December 19, 1938 in Granby, MO, to parents; Floyd H. Loving and Nellie I. Foster, a former resident of Witts Spring, AR, and has resided in the Shepherd area for the past two years. He was a former accountant, veteran of the US Marine Corps, member of the Christian Cowboy Fellowship, and an avid rancher. He contributed his time with the Witts Spring and Ralph Caney Volunteer Fire Departments, and the Flint Rock Saddle Club. He also enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, reading, metal art, and especially spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Loving was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years: Loretta L. McKanna Loving, father: Floyd H. Loving, mother: Nellie I. Foster Blanton, and brother: Robert Bell. He is survived by his son: Tom McKanna and wife Pam of Mountain Home, AR, daughters: Misty Connor of Marshall, AR and Stephanie Moreno and husband Ray of Shepherd, grandchildren: Reba and Chase Peterson, Cody, Dustin, and Tanner Moreno, and Kendall and Ashley McKanna, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Coburn

Charles “Charlie” William Coburn, age 87 and a resident of Cleveland, Texas, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Conroe Medical Center.

He was born in Huntsville, Texas on October 12, 1925. He was a distinguished WWII Veteran of the United States Merchant Marine. He was a boiler maker by trade in the construction industry. Mr. Coburn was a tender hearted man and was deeply devoted to his family. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Doris Marie Coburn; his daughter Baby Girl Coburn; daughters-in-law Mickie Coburn and LaWanda Coburn; his parents Charlie and Susie Coburn; sister Margaret Baker; and his great-grandchildren Jeremy Atkinson and Katelynn Rhea.

Survivors include his sons Charles “Sparky” Coburn and wife Shele, William “Billy” Coburn and wife Carleen, Philip “Jesse” Coburn; sister Francis Canough; grandchildren Brenda Coburn Atkinson, Buckey Coburn and Karla, Bubba Coburn and Leana, Christy Coburn Rhea and Kenny, Misty Coburn Daniels and Jason, Randy Coburn and Heather, Carolyn “CiCi” Carpenter and Jake; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other cherished family members and faithful friends beyond measure.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 14, 2013, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Ray Hyden and Judge James Metts will preside over funeral services being held Monday, July 15, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel with interment following at Security cemetery, Security, Texas. Pallbearers include Buckey Coburn, Bubba Coburn, Randy Coburn, Brad Tullis, Jason Daniels, Johnny Graham, Tracy Graham, and Stephen Graham; honorary pallbearers Richard Jordan and Montie Graham.
