Howard “Jack” Smith, 70, of Crosby died Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Humble, Texas.

He was born December 25, 1942 in Jasper, Texas to parents Harold N. and Ruby Lee Smith. A longtime resident of this area he was retired from Champion Paper Company and past owner of a local gun shop.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, his sons: Howard “Mark” Smith, Jerry Lee Smith, and half-brother Chuck Smith. He is survived by his granddaughter: Cassidy Smith of New Caney; his mother: Ruby Lee Brown of Jasper; his brother: Harold Lee Smith and wife Joy of Jasper; half-sister: Winnie of Denver; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Linkinhoker

Michael H. Linkinhoker, 57, of Dayton, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Michael was born August 9, 1955 in Houston, to parents; Morris L. and Mary Cotton Linkinhoker, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 18 years. He was a graduate of the Northshore High School class of 1973 and a boiler maker for Turner Industries in Mt. Belvieu for the past three years. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, shrimping, and the outdoors.

Mr. Linkinhoker was preceded in death by his father: Morris L. Linkinhoker. He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Kathy A. Webb Linkinhoker of Dayton, daughter: Trishan Crooks and husband Lloyd of Dayton, son: Shane Linkinhoker of Dayton, mother: Mary Cotton Linkinhoker of Dayton, sisters: Betty Sanders and husband Carlos of Mt. Belvieu, Diane Boyd and husband Bubba of Centerville, and Linda Martin and husband Bill of Dayton, brothers: Gary Linkinhoker and wife Linda of Dayton, Larry Linkinhoker and wife Vela of Waco, and Ricky Linkinhoker of McKinney, grandchildren: Destiny Linkinhoker, Shawn Linkinhoker, Katrina Linkinhoker, Hunter Crooks, Raven Crooks, and Conner Crooks, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Huffman

Doyle R. Huffman, 72, of Crosby, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at the Triumph Hospital East in Channelview.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Doyle was born November 22, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, to parents; Grady Huffman and Ruby Fae Salinas, a former resident of Cookville, and has resided in Crosby for the past 59 years. He was a retired owner/operator of the Tall Pines package Store in Crosby and member of the NRA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, gardening, and carpentry.

Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by his father: Grady Huffman and mother: Ruby Fae Salinas. He is survived by his cousin that was loved like a sister: Vickie Costilow of Crosby, aunts: Billie Embree and husband A. M. and Amy Talley, uncle: Harold Huffman, and numerous cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Bagley

Carroll Lee Bagley, 74 of Dayton died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Clear Lake. He was a loving, father, grandfather, and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Dayton under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Linney cemetery. A gathering in Carroll Lee's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 26 at the funeral home.

Carroll Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Bagley; parents, Mabson Lee Bagley and Lottie Mae Bagley. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dayton for many years. Carroll Lee was a member of American Legion Post 512 where he was a past sgt-at-arms; and a fifty year Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge in Dayton. He was past president of Region 1 Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association; Master Gardener, and the Dayton Chamber of Commerce.

Carroll Lee is survived by his sons, Keith Bagley and wife, Adriann; Kenneth Bagley and wife, Dawn; W. Bryan Bagley and wife, Rebekah; daughter, Cassandra Gill; grandchildren, Nolan Bagley and wife, Lesleigh, Weldon, Alicia, Brennan, Jenna and William Bagley, Justin and Ashleigh Gill, and a host of other family and friends.

Elliott

Eddie Ray Elliott, 81, of Dayton, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Eddie was born September 15, 1931 in Vann, to parents; Omer M. and Audrey N. Childress Elliott, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Dayton for the past 46 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force with service during Korea, a former employee of Brown and Root, retired owner and operator of Elliott Septic Services, and member of the American Legion. He enjoyed his work and bee keeping.

Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his parents: Omer M. and Audrey N. Childress Elliott. He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Phyllis Joy Robinson Elliott of Dayton, sons: Eddie C. Elliott and wife Lou Anne of Union Valley, Randy M. Jordan and wife Kim of AL, and William M. R. Elliott of Dayton, daughter: Liticia L. Daywitt and husband Stephen of China Spring, brother: Glenn Elliott and wife Lenora of Dallas, sisters: Viola Holloway and husband Johnny of NB and Nellie Davis of Austin, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Liberty Healthcare Center for the compassionate care to Eddie during residency at the facility.

Riley

Arthur Winston Riley, age 68 of Daisetta, died June 21, 2013 in Daisetta, TX.

Arthur was born November 9, 1945 in Liberty, TX, son of the late Arthur G. Riley and Johnnie Hickman Riley. He graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School and was retired from Mobil Oil as an engineer. He was a member of the Mason Lodge and a member of Central Baptist Church in Daisetta. Arthur loved to fish and loved working with leather and woodwork. He will be missed by all.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Katherine Riley and a son; Edward Tyrolt Riley. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, son; Rhodes Blake Riley of Englewood, CO, daughter; Carmen Ashe and husband John of Lowell, IN, sister; Amy Sullivan and husband Dick of Carthage, TX, grandchildren; Ryan Ashe, Caitlyn Ashe, Jenna Ashe, Amber Ashe and Mike Ashe, and three great-grandchildren.

Services for Arthur Winston Riley will be Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be Monday June 24, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service.

Tanner

Freida Joyce Tanner, 69, of Liberty, died Friday June 21, 2013.

She had a passion for crocheting and knitting. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Grace Haynes; son, Leonard Tanner.

She is survived by her loving husband, Hal Lewis Tanner; children, Claudia Elaine Benoit and husband Charles of Hardin, Edward Lewis Tanner and wife Louise of Dayton, Sandra Annette Tanner of Hardin and Bonnie Marie Gaston and husband James of Batson; grandchildren, Derrick Allen Tanner, Shayla Benoit, Amber Benoit, Shawn Gaston, Krissy Gaston and Brandi Romero; great grandchildren, Tristan and Destiny Tanner, Issac and Arron Gaston, Navar, Isiah and Farrah Romero; sisters, Phyllis Nelms and Linda Rose.

Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services on Monday June 24, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held Monday 2:00 p.m. at Faith and Family Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Bill Campbell and Reverend Robbie Jackson. Internment will follow at Moss Hill cemetery in Moss Hill.

Serving as pallbearers will be Derrick Tanner, Shawn Gaston, Thomas Harwell, Joseph Whiddon, Robert Harwell and Chuck Benoit. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Gaston and Jerry Tanner.

Brooks

Dorothy May Brooks, 82 of Anahuac died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with her family by her side.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Dorothy's family and friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Lucian Greene Brooks; parents, Whitney and Mabel Desormeaux; brother, Larry Desormeaux; granddaughter, Brandy Brooks. Dorothy was a member of Anahuac Assembly of God. Dorothy loved reading, and being with her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Roy Brooks and wife, Connie; daughter, Darlene Taylor; grandchildren, Jeannie Martinez and husband, Sammy, Roy Brooks II, Jesse Taylor and wife, Nikki, Corey Brooks; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Jakob, Caleb, Kaelan; sister-in-law, Shirley Desormeaux; and a host of other family and friends.

Flora

Bobby Ray “Stormy” Flora, 75, of Dayton died Monday, June 10, 2013 at his home in Dayton.

He was born September 3, 1937 in Wilson, North Carolina to parents, Connie Lee and Ellie Byrd Harper Flora. He had lived in Virginia before moving to Dayton in 2002 and was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Baytown. Stormy was retired from the US Navy, he then worked at the Department of Treasury as a Federal Police officer, he then worked and retired from Amtrak Rail Road. He was a former member of the American Legion and a member of NRA. He enjoyed guns, target shooting, reading, history and doing leatherwork.

Mr. Flora was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Emily Brefczynski, brothers Connie E. Flora, John T. Flora and Harry K. Flora, and his nieces Phyllis Brefczynski nephew: He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Andrea Killingsworth Flora of Dayton; his daughter: Penny Lynn Vasquez and husband Dale of Stafford, VA; his son: Thomas J. Newby and wife Terri of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Travis A. Vasquez, Sabrina M. Vasquez, Cody Newby, Cory Newby, Tracy Riedl, and Amy Exman; great-grandchildren: Justin Exman, Emily Exman, and Jaycee Nelson; nephew: John Brefczynski; of Arlington TX; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Mr. Flora will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Grace Bible Church, 624 Massey Tompkins, Baytown, TX 77520. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Lee

Rev. Jethro Lee, Jr., 83 of Raywood, Tx. died June 17, 2103.

Services will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Moss Bluff, Tx. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon until funeral which will begin at 2PM. Interment will be in Lone Star cemetery Moss Bluff.

One of five children was born November 18, 1929 to the late Rev. Jethro Lee, Sr. and Beulah Sweet Lee in Many, Louisiana. He attended public school in Many, Louisiana. Rev. Lee excepted Christ at an early age and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he was baptized .

Rev. Lee served in the military for four years. In 1971 Rev. Lee married Lillian Mosley, to this union one child was born.

In 1973 Rev. Lee united with St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.D. Robinson. Rev. Lee was ordained by Rev. Robinson.

In 1992 Rev. Lee was called to Pastor Galilee Baptist Church in Devers, Texas where he served as Pastor for eleven years. After leaving Galilee he united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Thomas as Asst. Pastor. In 2003 Rev. Lee was called back to Galilee Baptist Church until his health began to fail.

Rev. Lee is preceded in death by both parents: Rev. Jethro Lee, Sr. and Beulah Sweet-Lee; Sister: D’Ella; Brother: George.

Rev. Lee leaves to Cherish his memories a loving wife of 43 years, Lillian; Sons: James of Liberty, Texas, Arthur (Ingrid) of Raywood, Texas, Daryl (Angela) of Houston, Texas, and Jeffery (Tangelia) of Raywood, Texas; Daughters: Janice of Ft. Worth, Texas and Judy (Charlie) of Liberty, Texas; Sister: Sylvia (Ernest) of Many, Louisiana; Brother: Rev. Henry (Tina) of Compton, California; Special Sister in law: Yvonne Lee of Hemphill, Texas; Ten Grandchildren; Eight Great-Grandchildren; One Chosen Granddaughter: Callie Wade and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rev. Lee's Arrangement has been entrusted to Proctor's Mortuary, 518 Miller St. Anahuac, Tx.

Katherine Lynch, 89, of Liberty, died June 17, 2013 at Magnolia Place Nursing Center in Liberty, Texas.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 5pm until 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas. Funeral services will be Friday, June 21, 2013, at 11am at Allison Funeral Service, with burial to follow in the Cleveland City cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.

Katherine was born on January 31, 1924, in Obion, Tennessee to parents, Arthur Breakfield and Elizabeth Spicer Breakfield.

Mrs. Lynch worked as a nurses aide at the Buna Medical Center and then later at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. Katherine enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, G.W. Lynch Jr., one sister, Robbie Gilmer, and one brother Milburne Breakfield. She is survived by two sons, G.W. Lynch III and wife Linda, Arthur Lynch and wife Roxanna, three daughters, Evelyn Fea and husband Lonnie, Nancy Rush, Kathie Cameron and husband Dan, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandson.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.
