Broom

Gerald David Broom, 59, of Daisetta died Saturday April 27, 2013.

Gerald was a fun-loving, free spirit who never met a stranger. Affectionately known as “Big G”, Gerald touched the hearts of everyone he met. He loved salt-water fishing, scuba diving, riding motorcycles, and anything adventurous. Big G was a jack of all trades who could do anything from carpentry to electrical work, from pluming to roofing and everything in between. Gerald was always an animal lover (of all kinds) and also enjoyed working with his palm and fruit trees. He was a great story teller and quick with a joke. He had a laugh that was unmistakable and downright contagious. Gerald never hesitated to help out a friend in need or a stranger for that matter. You never knew what kind of journey Gerald would be on throughout his life, and his loving wife Cheryl was always at his side. “Big G” would want everyone to celebrate his extraordinary life as opposed to mourning his death. He was truly a special person and in his words, this would just “add to the adventure!” Gerald will be missed, but never forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry David Broom.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Cheryl Broom of Daisetta; mother, Geneva Broom Bailey; son, Brandon Broom of Baytown; grandchildren, Chelsey Fajkus of Hardin and Weston Broom of Baytown; brother, Jimmy Broom and wife Barbara of Hull; sister Cathy Grand and husband Louie of Nacogdoches and numerous nephews and nieces.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel Thursday May 2, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday May 3, 2013 at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel.

Honorary pallbearers are Mike Ogashi, Chad Downs, Clayton Nugent, Karl Hatcher, Gray Carr, Marvin Taylor, Dean Elder and Jerry Williams.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.
