Vanderhider

Clyde Phillips (Phil) Vanderhider died the evening of March 8, 2013 in Fort Worth, TX. Phil was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on 8/11/1940 and lived in various places in Louisiana and Texas during his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Clyde John and Lorraine Vanderhider as well as his adoptive parents, Leo and Jane Burns. As a young man he married Beverly Fontenot of Mamou, Louisiana where they raised two daughters Lynette Ledoux (of Fort Worth), Yvette Heiser (of Tampa), and a son Phil Vanderhider (Tampa). Years later he married Linda Richard of Port Barre, Louisiana and had a son, Brandon Vanderhider (of Krotz Springs). Phil is survived by both ex-wives, his four children, five grand kids, and four great grand kids. He leaves behind close friend, Ann Lindley Weir, as well as three sisters and two brothers.

He often referred to the years he spent as a farmer in the Mamou, La area as some of the best years of his life. Phil was a businessman and dabbled in residential construction in low income housing as well as commercial construction. A person motivated by challenges, an organizer, encouraged others through charisma and enthusiasm.

In Closing, Phil studied the Bible, and maintained a close relationship with the Lord and was deeply rooted in Christ. Services for Clyde Phillips Vanderhider will be Monday, March 11, 2013 at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty, TX at 2pm.

Cain

Ella Louise “Wezzie” Cain, age 89, formally of Liberty, went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2013 in Conroe, TX.

Wezzie was born on April 22, 1923, in New Iberia, LA, daughter of William Louis and Molly Jackson White. Wezzie attended Dayton High School and later married the late Judge Clarence Cain. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Liberty and a member of the DAR. Wezzie also served for many years on the TVE Parade Committee. She loved playing bridge and was a life masters in duplicate bridge. Wezzie also loved music, bingo and dancing with her beloved husband, Clarence.

Wezzie was preceded in death by her parents, husband of fifty-six years, Clarence Cain, brother; Edward White. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her son; Billy Cain and wife Patricia of Conroe, TX, and long life friend Pam Issac.

Services for Ella Louise “Wezzie” Cain will be Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 2pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Fairlawn cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Allison Funeral Service from 5pm to 8pm.

Contreras

Richard Joseph Contreras age 64 of Dayton, died Saturday, March 9, 2013.

Richard was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, December 21, 1948 the son of the late Richard Contreras and Annie Lou Pruitt Contreras. He enjoyed hunting, collecting guns and coins. He was an avid reader, who liked to read anything military or western related. He was a member of the Genealogical Society in Arkansas, where he learned of his Indian heritage and became a member of the Cherokee Nation. He last worked as a conductor-brakeman for the Norfolk Southern Railroad.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Christopher Contreras wife Melanie of Liberty; Richard Sabin Contreras of Tuscumbia, AL. He also leaves a sister, Glenda Mitchell of Russellville, AL, as well as four grandchildren, Morgan, Chase, Colby, and Destiny Contreras. Family will receive friends from 5-7PM Monday March 11, 2013 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis. A memorial service will be held 10AM Tuesday March 12, 2013 at the funeral home.

Brandon

Jerry Eugene Brandon, 54, of Livingston, TX, died Friday, March 8, 2013.

He was born on April 18, 1958, in Coshocton, OH. He served his country in the US Navy, before becoming a truck driver for Robert Laird Jr. Logging Company. He was a member of Bibleway Pentecostal Church of Liberty, TX. He was a hard worker and a great story teller. He was known as "Mad Dog", his CB handle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Eva Brandon; brother, Danny Brandon and sister, Becky Brandon.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lori Brandon of Livingston; children, Bryan Brandon of Livingston, TX, Katherine Moyer of Lincoln, NE, Kristen Brandon of Dallas, TX, Joshua Brandon and wife Melissa of Newcomerston, OH, and Michael Brandon of Livingston, TX; siblings, Delbert Brandon and wife Kathy of Fresno, OH, Maxine Stowers and husband Ron of Newcomerston, OH, Ricky Brandon and wife Dawn of Fresno, OH, Judy Bunfill and husband Eddie of Cleveland, TX, Darlene Moore and husband Eric of Liberty, TX, Yvonne Monk and husband Keith of Rye, TX, John Brandon and wife Jennifer of Cold Springs, TX, and Charlene Brandon of Newcomerston, OH; grandchildren, Destiny Mann of Urcheville, OH, Dawson Harvey of Newcomerston, OH, Josh Brandon, Jr. of Newcomerston, OH, Skyler Moyer of Louisiana, Timber Moyer of Nebraska and Jesse Moyer of Louisiana; aunt, Net Beaber of Kountze as well as numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Faith and Family Funeral Service Chapel.

A service of remembrance will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2013, at Faith and Family Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Adolph Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow at Ryans cemetery in Tarkington.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Burns, Woody Bunfill, Billy Bunfill, Junior Laird, Cody Marsh and Michael Brandon. Honorary pallbearers are Bubba Masters and Robert Schmidt.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Rogers

Kenneth E. Rogers, 75, of Hempstead, died March 6, 2013, in Houston.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Huffman cemetery with Rev. Danny Wendt officiating in Huffman, and burial following thereafter. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Kenneth was born November 11, 1937 in Honoraville, AL, to parents; Sydney Rogers and Cora Schultz, a former resident of Conroe, and has resided in the Hempstead are for the past six years. He was a retired butcher in the grocery industry and construction worker, member of the First Baptist Church of Grangerland, and enjoyed fishing, his yard work, and visiting with others.

Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his father: Sydney E. Rogers, mother: Cora Schultz Dignon, and brothers: Sydney and Buddy Rogers. He is survived by his daughter: Amber Collins of Hempstead, step-daughters: Dottie Stentz of Huffman, Sherry Matthieu of Huffman, Pam Wendt of Hempstead, and Bobby Averitt of Hempstead, sister: Shirley Wheeler of GA, brother: Don Rogers of Houston, grandchildren: Meagen Rogers, Kirstin Collins, Hannah Collins, and Taylor Collins, great-grandchildren: Karlea Kae Cruz and Kinleigh Collins, and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

McKinney

Marvin J. McKinney, 65, of Dayton died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Baytown. He was a loving husband, dad, pawpaw, brother, uncle and friend.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Ellen McKinney; sister, Barbara Ann McKinney; brother, Robert McKinney. He was best known as "The Ring Marker". He loved guns, knives, old movies, music and being with his grandchildren.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sheral McKinney; daughters, Marsha Bell Cook and Marco Perez, Lisa Gell Floyd and husband, George; grandchildren, Kandice and husband, Matt, Kory, Kelsi, Aaron, and Aidan; great-grandchildren, Prycilla, Matthew, and Bailee; sister, Julie Aid and husband, David; brother, J.B. McKinney and wife, Bonnie; and a host of other family and friends.

Cranford

Donny Ray Cranford, 71 of Dayton died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Liberty Dayton Regional Hospital in Liberty. He was a loving husband, daddy, pop, brother and friend.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will be at a later date.

Donny was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Claudia Cranford; son, Jay William Cranford; brother, Harold Cranford; sister, Judy Covington; son in law, Matt Butler. Donny loved hunting, fishing, being with his great-grandchildren. The dedication of his life was to his family.

Donny is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Cranford; daughter, Jan Butler; granddaughters, Emily, Abby, Samantha, Amanda, Cassey, Marley; grandson, Matt II, numerous great grandchildren, sister, Betty McIntosh; brother in law, Charles Covington; and a host of other family and friends.

Williams

Tawana Ford Williams was the fourth child born to the late Bobbie J. Hammitt and Freddie Ford.

Tawana spent her life in Dayton, Texas, attending Colbert Elementary and Dayton High School. She was employed by Dayton Independent School District for seventeen years as a dietician. She became a great cook and she loved cooking for her family and friends. She eventually started her own catering business.

Tawanna had a son, whom she loved dearly. She met and married the love of her life, Leo Williams, Jr. on May 29, 1992. They shared a beautiful life together until her demise.

She was preceded in death by her loving grandmother, Leonia Hammitt and her grandfather, Henderson Hammitt.

She leaves to mourn: her husband of twenty-one years, Leo Williams, Jr.; one devoted son, Christopher E. Ford (Ramona); three grandchildren: Taylor, Tyler and Trysten Ford, all of Tarkington, Texas; four brothers: Larry (Makali) Ford of Houston, Texas, Marvin (Gwen) Ford of Houston, Texas, Thomas (Mary) Ford of Liberty, Texas and Gilbert Wayne (Dimita) of San Antonio, Texas; five sisters: Catherine Hammitt (Reggie) of Dayton, Texas, Linda, Denise Joseph of Beaumont, Texas and Babbieth and Relonda Ford, all of Houston, Texas; two aunts: Joyce (David) Gates and Ella Perry of Dayton, Texas; one uncle: Henderson Hammitt (Verneta) of Moss Bluff; sisters-in-law: Eleanor Chambers, Olivia Palton; mother-in-law: Ella Jones of Baytown, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Liberty, Texas with Rev. Dwight Pruitt, officiating. Rev. Carl McNelty, Pastor.

Visitation from 12:00 P.M. -2:00 P.M. Viewing at Wells Funeral Services, Friday, March 8, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Interment in Acie cemetery.

Jackson

Funeral Service for Albert P. Jackson, 89, of Raywood, Texas, will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church, Liberty, Texas with Rev. Dwight Pruitt, officiating. Rev. L.C. Speights, Pastor. Viewing at Wells Funeral Services, Friday, March 8, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Interment in Wells Memorial cemetery.

Albert P. Jackson, was born on May 11, 1923 to Clifton and Amelia Wilson Jackson in Abbeville, Louisiana, later moved to Texas. He came to know Christ at a young age.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents: Clifton and Amelia Jackson; four brothers: Milton, Joseph, and Robert Jackson; three sisters: Audrey Ford, Ada Jackson, and Annie Mae Lee.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three sisters: Amelia Jackson of Dayton, Texas, Maudrey Collins of Bridgeport, Connecticut and Dorothy McGinnis of Houston, Texas. Also, a very special niece Ruth Gants, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. And a very special friend Mr. Albert Guidry.

Worrell

Mary Grace Worrell, 81, of Dayton, died March 7, 2013. She was born January 17, 1932 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana to Louis Green Thomas, Sr. and Alpha Omega Emmons Thomas.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Betty Ann Little and brother: Louis Green “L.G. Thomas, Jr.

Mary was a homemaker who loved her family immensely. She worked in the family pest control business as well as helping in the grocery store. Mary's hobbies included painting ceramics, camping and traveling in the motorhome.

A graveside service for Mrs. Worrell will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Grandview cemetery in Pasadena, Texas, Reverend Jeff Weldon of Lifepoint Church Officiating.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jay Worrell of Dayton; daughters Pamela K. Styron and Diane Beran and husband, David; granddaughters: Amanda Marie Atkins and husband John Mark, Lana Kree Ballinger and husband Justin, Natalie Pickett, Fawn Maddox; great-grandchildren: Noah Bryton Atking, Hayden Cognata, Hallee Cognata and Savannah Ballinger, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gillen

Kimberly Diane Gillen, 45 years of age and a resident of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 03, 2013 in Conroe, Texas.

She was born May 31, 1967 in Liberty, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents and great-grandparents; brother Paul Wayne Hvamstad; and her aunt Amber Cope McGown.

Survivors include her mother and step-father Ginnie Powell and Marvin Powell; father and step-mother David Gillen and Verna Tuffy Gillen; daughters Christy Cheyenne Mayon; son Joshua Seth Gatlin; sisters Michelle Renae Powell Conner and husband Steven, Jennifer Marie Powell; brothers David Bubba Gillen Jr. and Stacey, Robert Louis Hvamstad and wife Mary; nephews Cody Hvamstad, Remo, Carry Conner, David Dalton Gillen, Taylor League; nieces Katlyne Hvamstad and Charli Powell; aunts Laura Taylor and Janell Gillen; numerous cousins and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Friday, March 08, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.

Thibodeaux

Eve Eva Ave K. Thibodeaux, 85 of Ames passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames with Rev. George Okeahialam, M.S.P. celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in Ames Catholic cemetery. A gathering of Eva's family and friends will be from 8:30 to 9:30 with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 A.M.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Clayton Thibodeaux Sr.; parents, Walter and Laurence King; sister, Theresa King Humphrey; grandson, Christopher Alan Webb; niece, baby girl Humphrey, brother in laws, Earnest (Yake) Thibodeaux, Hayes (T-Noon) Thibodeaux, Louis Thibodeaux; sister in law, Hermenia Jean (Bookie) Evans; She was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames. She was a member of the Willing Workers Club.

Eva is survived by her daughter, Clara Ann Thibodeaux Webb; Dwight; son, Charles Clayton Thibodeaux Jr. and wife, Mattie Bea; grandchildren, April Lashawn Thibodeaux, Justin Alan Thibodeaux, Candice Nicole Webb and Duane, Nicholas Dwayne Webb and Trenecia; brother in law; Aaron Humphrey, nephew; Eric and wife, Keisha, great nieces, Ericka, Brianna, and Alyssa Humphrey; sister in laws, Helen McBee and Leona Jenkins; extended family, The Potetz's and The Wiggins; and a host of other family and friends.
