Tousha

Sister Tiny Tousha, 66, of Liberty died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in Liberty after an extended illness.

She was born May 19, 1946 in Liberty, Texas to parents, Newt and Furley Nugent Maxey. Tiny was a lifelong resident of Liberty County and was a loyal member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, and singing Christian music.

Service for Tiny will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church with Sister Hendricks officiating. Interment will follow at the Monroe Fregia cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church.

Tiny was preceded in death by her parents, Newt and Farley Maxey, her son Johnny Tousha, the father of her children, Tommy G. Tousha, brothers Ed and Clarence Taylor, and her sisters Lilly Welch and Mae McNeil. She leaves behind to cherish her memories are her son: Tiger Tousha and wife Renee; her daughter: Becky Tousha and husband David Edwards; her grandsons: Bam Bam Tousha, Tommy “June Bug” Tousha, Jr., Rusty Tousha, Dusty Tousha, and Nick Tousha; her granddaughter: Hope Tousha; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank all at Magnolia Place Health Care and New Century Hospice.

Roe

Dolan E. “Jack” Roe, 71, of Dayton, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services following at 1:00 p.m., Friday, at the Earthman Resthaven cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jack was born November 19, 1941 in Alice, TX, to parents; Ottis Ara Roe and Alice Reed, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Dayton for the past 37 years. He was a graduate of the Sam Houston High School, former bus driver for Coach USA, former electrician for Fisk Electric, and a retired pastor and member of The Church House. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, research, and especially spending time with family.

Mr. Roe was preceded in death by his father: Ottis Ara Roe, son: Christopher M. Roe, and brother: Ricky Roe. He is survived by his daughters: Danielle Mitchell of Dayton and Kendra Roe of Dayton, sons: Marcus Roe of Dayton and Dolan Rivette and wife Angela of Cut N Shoot, mother: Alice Roe Willis of Burnet, brother: Ara Roe of Nacogdoches, grandchildren: Kevin, Rachel, Lanie, Landon, Madison, Seth, Mason, Tristian, Bailey, Mitchell, and Audrian, great-grandchildren: Logan, Nathaniel, and Colton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Lowry

Kevin Paul Lowry Sr, age 46 of San Marcus, TX died January 14, 2013 in Austin, TX.

Kevin was born on August 8, 1966 in West Covina, CA, son of Jay Paul Lowry and Nancy Rector Bell. He attended Liberty High School and graduated in 1984. He was a member of the Native Sons Organization and a soccer coach and referee for several years. He was also a die-hard Texas Longhorn fan.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie D. Lowry Sr. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, wife; Christina Jo Lowry of Hesperia, CA, sons; Kevin Lowry Jr of San Marcus, Michael Douglas Lowry of San Marcus, step-sons; Blake Woodbury of California, Cameron Woodbury of California, mother; Nancy Bell and step-father; Edwin Bell of Liberty, sister; Leslie Lowry of Houston, half-brother; J.P. Lowry Jr of California, half-sister; Courtney Lowry of California, step-brothers; Roger Bell and wife Cheryl of Baytown, Daryl Bell and wife Robyn of Liberty, step-sister; Crystal Votaw and husband Daniel of Dayton, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Nugent

Daisy Mae Fregia Nugent, 84 of Liberty died Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Magnolia Place Heath Care Center in Liberty. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, great-great-great grandmother, and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Cooke cemetery in Liberty. A gathering of Daisy's family and friends will be from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the funeral home.

Daisy was preceded in death by her husbands, Ray and Ralph Nugent; sister, Mildred Capps; brothers, Dennis and Joe Fregia; granddaughter, Brook Nugent; grandsons, Jeffery Nugent and Samuel Perkins. She worked for Liberty ISD for over 10 years. She attended Solid Rock Full Gospel Church in Thicket. She loved working in her yard raising roses and chickens. Mom will be remembered for waking everyone up praying for each of her children.

Daisy is survived by her daughters, Virginia Gray, Raffey Taylor and husband, Larry, Fannie Young and husband, Carl; sons, Ray Nugent and wife, Darlene, Jesse Nugent and wife, Barbara, Roy Nugent and wife, Karen, Gerald Nugent and wife, Lisa, Johnny Nugent and wife, Liz; 36 grandchildren, 85 great- grandchildren, 74 great-great grandchildren, and 4 great-great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Corder

James Gregg Corder Sr., 56, of Dayton passed away in Dayton on Thursday, January 10, 2013.

He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. A gathering of Jimmy's family and friends will be from 10:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dodie Corder; sons, James Gregg Corder Jr., and baby boy Corder. He loved writing songs, poems, and reaching the lost. He was an Ordained Minister in Lakewood Church.

Jimmy is survived by his sons, Johnny Corder and Ashley, Chris Corder and Crystal, Joseph Corder and mother, Laurie Corder, Austin; daughters, Brooke Corder, and Sonya Corder, Kaitlyn Corder; granddaughters, Carly Corder, Bridgett and Kaylee Bowden; grandsons, Kayden Corder, Wesley Davis Jr.; sister, Pam Corder; brother, Joey Corder, and Jack Corder; wife, Kim Corder; and a host of other family and friends.

Aldrich

Cody Joseph Aldrich, 48 of Canyon Lake, TX., died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in Canyon Lake after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, January 21, 2013 in Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. A gathering of Cody's family and friends will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Cody was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Lee Aldrich and Betty Jones Aldrich. He loved being in the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Additionally, many a day one could find Cody on a Kayak on the beautiful Guadalupe River.

Cody is survived by his daughter, Kayla Toner; granddaughter, Makylee Riffe; sisters; Margaret Dollery and husband, Kenneth, Pam McCraw and husband, Jeff; special nieces; Jennifer Emerson and husband, Tod, Kendra Martinez and husband, Gerald, Cara Hutchens and husband, Mickey, and Melissa McCraw; great niece, Kalila Martinez; great nephews, Aaron Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, and Andrew Emerson; aunts, Marie Johnston, Ruth Ellis and husband, James; and a host of other family and friends.

Mason

Calvin Arthur Mason Jr. 53, of Silsbee passed Jan. 18, 2013 at his residence.

A Memorial Service will be held 7PM, Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at Proctor’s Mortuary, 1540 Hwy 327 W. Silsbee.

He is survived by spouse: Bobbie Nix, siblings: Nina Mason-Mansfield, Steveleyn Rodriguez, Trudie Mason, April Hayes, Margret Richardson, Robert Mason, Ty Manson, Brien Mason, Daniel Mason, Kenneth Cosselmon, Calvin Mason II and a host of Nieces, Nephews other relatives and friends.

Services entrusted to Proctor’s Mortuary, 1540 Hwy 327 W. Silsbee.

Stacy

Juanita C. Stacy, age 91, of Devers, Texas, died January 15, 2013 in Gainesville, TX after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Allison Funeral Service 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas, with David Cross officiating. Interment will follow in Stacy Memorial cemetery in Devers. Visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Allison Funeral Service.

Juanita Claude Stacy was born August 29, 1921 in Call, Texas to parents, James Franklin Claude and Lily Viola Thurman Claude. She grew up in Jasper, Texas the ninth of ten children. She graduated from Jasper High School and shortly after graduation, went to live and care for her oldest and ailing sister and her sister’s Methodist minister husband. They soon moved to Devers where she met and married Ernie Theodore Stacy (a life-long resident of Devers) June 1, 1941. She had the first, of three children, Ernie Alan Stacy in 1942 and they lived between Devers and Jasper while Ernie served in WWII. At the end of the war they built the first part of the home they shared from 1945 to 1987. They enlarged the home in 1957 to its current state. Gary Michael Stacy was born in 1947 and Cathy Anne Stacy arrived in 1952.

Juanita worked from home as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother all of her life. She cared for her mother-in-law and father-in-law in their failing health and for all her family in their times of need. She has always been a woman of great faith, courage, and strength, and has been a member of the Devers Methodist Church since 1941. Her family and friends were precious to her, and she set the highest example of love, strength, and faith to us all. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and two sons.

Mrs. Stacy is survived by one daughter, Cathy Stacy Tucker and son-in-law Dr. Tommy Tucker of Aubrey; four grandsons, William Tucker and wife Heidi of Kyle, TX; Andrew Tucker and wife Jennifer of Centerton, AR; Stacy Tucker and wife Mandy of Granbury, TX; Shawn Stacy and wife Angela. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren.

Walters

William Douglas Walters, 52, of Austin, died Wednesday January 16, 2013.

He is survived by his mother, Lavender Hobbs and husband John of Magnolia; sister, Tony Bell and husband Russell of Spring, half-brother and sister Kevin and Rhonda. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday January 18, 2012 at Oklahoma Community cemetery in Tomball, TX.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 366-2222.

Rigby

Bonnie Lois Campbell Rigby, 90, of Dayton died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in Houston.

Services for Mrs. Rigby will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Dayton with the Rev. Dale Hill and Rev. Ernie Lenard officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday evening, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born December 28, 1922 in Merkel, Texas to parents Lee Raymond and Annie Lee Roland Campbell. Mrs. Rigby attended Merkel High School graduating in 1939 and continued her education at McMurry College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1944. She later received a Masters in Elementary Education from University of Houston. She met and married her late husband Anson Rigby in 1946 and they moved to Dayton in 1947. Bonnie was employed by the Dayton Independent School District, teaching elementary music and various grades 1-6. She was inducted to the DISD Wall of Fame in 1999 after teaching in Dayton from 1949 to 1983. She was a member of Lakata Club, Priscilla Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and Liberty County Retired Teacher Association. Bonnie was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and the Ladies 5 & 6 Sunday School Class. She also played the piano at the South Dayton Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rigby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years, Anson Rigby and her brother, Billy Morris Campbell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tom Stevenson of Katy; sister-in-law, Jean Campbell of Mesquite; also numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Beverly

Nellie M. Coker Beverly, 75, of Dayton, died Sunday, January 13, 2013, at her residence.

Nellie was born December 25, 1937 in Billings, OK, to parents; Paul E. Coker and Marguette I. Hoggatt, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Dayton for the past 20 years. She was a former cab driver, retired waitress from Nina’s Diner, and enjoyed reading.

Mrs. Beverly was preceded in death by her father: Paul E. Coker, mother: Marguette I. Hoggatt Stalik, husband of 13 years: Red Beverly, and brother: Paul Jesse Coker. She is survived by her daughters: Margaret Denise Robertson and husband Erick of Midwest City, OK, Rose Marie LeRoy and husband Bruce of Columbia, MD, and Debra Skinner of Ft. Smith, AR, sons: Paul Bayliff and wife Tammy of Oklahoma City, OK and Buddy Wayne Wiedemann of Norman, . OK, brother: Tommy Stalik of Odessa, 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mercer

William D. Mercer age 92 died Friday January 11, 2013 in Houston, Texas.

William was born in Hull, Texas December 14, 1920 the son of the late Jim Hugh Mercer and Mary Hargraves Mercer. William was retired from Nabisco with over twenty-eight years of service as a Millwright. He was a lifetime member of the carpenters and millwright’s union local 2232 of Houston and the First Baptist Church of Hull. He also worked for the Harris County Sheriff Department from 1961-1972 where he attained the rank of Sergeant and oversaw the Girls Drill Team Junior Deputy. A veteran of WWII he served in both the US Army as well as the US Navy aboard the USS Craven.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Effie L. Mercer, son William D. Mercer Jr., his brothers and sisters, Jasper Sthram, Roy Sthram, Verna McNulty, D. Adam Strahan, John Everett Strahan, Margie Mae Mercer Kester, Susie Catherine Mercer Nelson, Little Johnnie and Little Buddy who both passed at a young age.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Hugh Mercer of Hull, John Lee Mercer of Houston, sister, Bertie Lee Mercer Kester Rogers, grandson Hugh Mercer Jr. and William D. Mercer III, great-grandson Paul Christopher Mercer, and a great-great granddaughter Addison Nicole Mercer.

Visitation for William will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 5-8PM at the First Baptist Church of Hull, a funeral service will be held at 1PM Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Hull with burial to follow in Holly Grove cemetery.

Stephenson

James Allen Stephenson, age 73 of Liberty, died January 12, 2013 with his loving family by his side.

James was born on April 11, 1939 in Anahuac, son of the late Jim Stephenson and Claudine Bishop Stephenson. He attended Liberty High School and graduated in 1957. James was well known in the Liberty area as the Texas Radio Man. He worked for NASA for ten years and retired from Houston Metro as the head radio technician. At the time of his death, he was still employed for KSHN Radio Station in Liberty. James volunteered for over forty years at the TVE and various organizations. He loved to hunt and fish but mostly loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, and sister; Patricia Stephenson. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of thirty-five years; Ann Stephenson, son; Michael Stephenson and wife Yvonne from Conroe, daughters; Pam Huggins of Liberty, Debra Stephenson of Liberty, Marva Bartley of Chicago, IL, grandchildren; Mikayla and Mitchell Stephenson and Seth Huggins.

Services for James Allen Stephenson will be Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10am at the First United Methodist Church in Liberty. Visitation will be held on January 15, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis in Liberty, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in James’ name to the American Cancer Society.

Hawkins

Winfield Curtis Hawkins 79 of Moss Hill, Texas died Saturday January 12, 2013 at Liberty Health Care Center.

Winfield was born in Beulah Mississippi on October 4, 1933 to Sidney Cole Hawkins and Clara Belle Romine Hawkins. He had lived in Moss Hill since 1980 and was retired as General Postmaster of the Liberty, Post office with 33 years of service and was also a U.S. Air Force veteran serving his country during the Korean conflict.

He was preceded in death by his son Kent Hawkins.

Survivors are his wife Diane Hawkins of Moss Hill, sons Terry Hawkins of South Houston, Cole Hawkins of Tomball and a host of friends. Cremation service under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services.

Smith

David M. Smith, Jr., 61, of Baytown, died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

David was born January 1, 1952 in Houston, to parents; David M., Sr. and Stella Collier Smith, a former resident of Westlake, and has resided in Baytown for the past year. He was a graduate of the Galena Park High School, attended San Jacinto Community College, and was a former safety manager for Kellogg-Brown and Root. He enjoyed cooking, his TV programs, and spending time with his grandson.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father: David M. Smith, Sr., mother: Stella Collier Smith, and brother: Don R. “Duke” Smith. He is survived by his wife of 11 years: Rachelle R. Vincent Smith of Baytown, sons: Michael J. Smith of Winnie, Preston O. Wyant of Baytown, Emerson Wyant and wife Nicki of Texas City, Dillion Wyant and fiancé Jordan Pridgon of Baytown, brother: Richard “Rick” Smith and wife Lisa of Dayton, mother-in-law: Jettie Robertson and husband Ron of LA, father-in-law: J. L. Vincent and wife Peggy of LA, sisters-in-law: Regina Vincent of Beach City and JoAnn Smith of Dayton, brothers-in-law: Michael Vincent and wife Debra of Orange and Lamar Vincent and wife Jacinda of LA, grandson: Devon H. Wyant, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
