Bittner

Elmer Paul Bittner, 76, of Moss Hill passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas with his family by his side.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Funeral services will be at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Interment will follow in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton, Texas. A gathering of Elmer's family and friends will be Friday, January 11, 2013 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Elmer served his country in the United States Army in Korea. He was baptized at Van Vleck Trinity Baptist Church. He was the owner of Bittner Trucking & Sand, Inc. and Stabilized Products, Inc. He enjoyed gardening and being with his family. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, R.E. and Eunice Belle Bittner; brother, Richard Bittner; sons, Tim Bittner and James Duff.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 18 years Mary Bittner; daughters, Beth Roberson and husband, Gary, Peggy Vasquez and husband, Joe; sons, Marc Bittner and wife, Tonya, Tim Duff; daughter in laws, DJ Bittner and Cyndy Duff; 14 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren and his "boys" Max and Kelo (his loving dogs).

Harrison

Roddren Lynn Harrison III “Tunechi” 15 months, of Anahuac passed Jan. 07, 2013.

Services will be held Jan. 12, 2013, at Bright Light Baptist Church 505 FM 2041 Anahuac, TX. Pastor, Rev L.R. Speights, Officiating. Visitation beginning at 10AM until funeral which will begin at 11AM. Interment will be in Richardson cemetery, Hankamer.

Roddren was preceded in death by: Grandparents: Mary Joyce Lewis, Carrie Raymond and Roddren Harrison Sr.

Mourning his departure, yet cherishing his memories are parents: Roddren Lynn Harrison II and Asia Thomas, sister: Ryelei’ Harper Harrison; grandparents: Mervin Thomas Jr. (Kendall), Seletta Ann Lewis (Earl Manning) and Shanell Mitchell (Guy Jones). Aunts: Amber St. Andre, Meagan Menifee, Nacorian “Lil Bit” Thomas, Shamesiea Thomas, YaShica Thomas, Kelsea Thomas, Kaila Thomas, Uncles: Bert Whittington IV, Christopher Whittington, Marquise Thomas and Alex Thomas, Special Aunts: Shakita Webb, Ciera Smith, Jasmine Aguilera, Elizabeth Lujano, Tara Humphrey, Tiffany Jones, Jasmine Steans, Demeisha Robinson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Service entrusted to Proctor's Mortuary, 518 Miller St. Anahuac.

Earls

Funeral Service for Ms. Lillian R. Earls, 85, of Dayton, Texas will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Dayton, Texas with the Reverend Carl McNelty officiating. Funeral Services with burial in Acie cemetery, under the direction of Wells Funeral Services, Liberty, TX.

Ms. Lillian Ruth Dunlap Earls was born March 4, 1927 in Dayton, Texas to the late Fred and Clara Dunlap. She departed this life on January 4, 2013 in Baytown Texas.

She attended Colbert School in Dayton, Texas. She was married to the late Theodore Earls. To this union was one daughter Brenda Carol Cherry Payne which preceded her in death.

Ms. Earls worked for many years as a short-order cook and a care-giver until she retired. She was a faithful member at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Minique J. Payne, Baron F. Payne and Gala P. Robinson (Rev. Gregory) all of Dayton, Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Fregia

Serenia Mae Taylor Fregia, 90, of Daisetta, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at a family residence in Bandera.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Guedry cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Serenia was born November 16, 1922 in Daisetta, to parents; Gilbert G. and Emma Young Taylor, and has been a lifelong resident of Daisetta. She was a homemaker, Pentecostal by faith, and enjoyed cooking, and helping others.

Mrs. Fregia was preceded in death by her father: Gilbert G. Taylor, mother: Emma Young Taylor, husband of 53 years: J. L. Fregia, daughter: Rose Tanner, great great-grandchild: Shae Tanner, and 15 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son: Billy Fregia and wife Susan of Silsbee, sister: Catherine Berryhill of Daisetta, brother: Nolan Taylor of Raywood, grandchildren: Sandra Brooks, Johnethan Tanner, Robert Tanner, Scott Tanner, Megan Williams, and Brittani McDonald, 12 great-grandchildren, 17 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Haddox

Roberta S. “Berta” Lane Haddox, 73, of Kenefick, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church with burial following at Palms Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Berta was born January 17, 1939 in Dallas, to parents; Bob and Irene, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Kenefick for the past 16 years. She was a retired warranty administrator from Brighton Builders and member of the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church. She also enjoyed gardening, travel, and visiting with others.

Mrs. Haddox was preceded in death by her father: Bob Lane, mother: Irene Taylor, stepfather: John B. Taylor, and grandson: Blake Kelley. She is survived by her husband of 25 years: Willie “Rainer” Haddox of Kenefick, sons: John C. Kelley and wife Susan of Spring, Donald T. Kelley and wife Mary of PA, David R. Kelley and wife Mary of WV, and Theodore Kelley and wife Jean of VA, daughters: Vickie Purviance and husband Larry of Onalaska and Laura Sarapa of PA, sister: Jan I. Taylor of FL, 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Mendez-Arellano

Maria Mendez-Arellano, 70, of Liberty died at her home on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 with her family by her side.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. Joseph’s the Catholic Worker with Father Jesus Lizalde celebrant under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Rite of Committal will follow in Liberty Catholic cemetery in Liberty. A gathering of Maria's family and friends will be from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.

Maria was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty. She was preceded in death by her husband Sotero Martinez; brother, Pablo Mendez; sister Alberta Mendez. She loved being with her family and cooking.

Maria is survived by daughters Yolanda Martinez, and husband, Gumaro, Lucia Tinajero and husband, Carlos, Ma Luisa Martinez and husband, Enrique, Maria Perez and husband, Carlos; sons, Antonio Martinez and wife, Isabel, Isidro Martinez and wife, Cecilia, Julian Martinez and wife, Julia, Noel Martinez and wife, Neri; 25 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Elena Mendez; brothers, Gumercindo, Vicente Andres, and J. Luz Mendez; and a host of other family and friends.

Louviere

Sandy Louviere, 60, of Dayton, died Monday, January 7, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with burial following at the Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Sandy was born May 3, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN, to parents; Richard L. Starkey and Evelyn C. Cramer, a former resident of Louisiana, and has resided in Dayton for the past 22 years. She was a graduate of the Jessie H. Jones High School, a retired Captain for C.E.C at the Liberty Jail, member of the Little Pass Baptist Church, and former Girl Scout leader and E.M.S. volunteer. She enjoyed poetry, ceramics, reading, collecting stamps and coins, and playing computer and video games.

Mrs. Louviere was preceded in death by her father: Richard L. Starkey, mother: Evelyn C. Cramer, stepmother: Betty A. Miller Starkey, husband: Kearney J. Louviere, Sr., and sister: Barbara K. Haltom. She is survived by her daughters: Michelle Miranda of Dayton, Miranda Louviere of Dayton, and Dianna Lynn Louviere of LA, son: Kearney John Louviere, Jr. of Dayton, sisters: Taunya Offdenkamp of WY, Mikki Gray of MT, and Marie Reeves of Conroe, brothers: Ed Starkey of Houston and Terry Ammon of GA, grandchildren: Dakota J. W. Burris, Kylee Rhae Boatman, Hunter Lee Burris, Brayden John Louviere, and Kaysen Mitchell Odom, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Coe

Jonnie McCall Holt Coe was born in Provencal, Louisiana on July 30, 1917 and died on January 1, 2013.

She was reared in Beaumont, Texas and graduated from South Park High School and Junior College. Jonnie was a Liberty County resident for fifty years. She lived at the Terrace of Clear Lake for nine years and enjoyed every day while there. She was a resident of Legend Oaks East Healthcare for two years.

Jonnie was active in the Devers and Liberty ISD PTA. A past President of Magnolia Ridge Country Club in Liberty, and a proud member of the DAR. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Liberty for sixty years.

Jonnie was preceded in death by her parents; John Neil McCall and Myrtle Katherine Bailey McCall, husband of forty-eight years; Walter Neel Holt, husband of seven years; Leroy Denman Coe, sister; Frankie Fay McCall, son; Richard McCall Holt, grandson; Don Kevin Patrick.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, daughter; Janice Holt Scott and husband John, son; J.W. Holt and wife Carla, grandchildren; Kimberly Patrick Harmon and husband Nick, John Brent Holt, Kristi Holt Moriarty and husband David, Jeffrey Ryan Holt, great-grandchildren; Kristal and Michael Bitzer, Cody Harmon Holt, Katherine Moriarty, two step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

The family thanks Legend Oaks East staff for their kind and compassionate care over the last two years.

Services for Jonnie McCall Holt Coe will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2pm at Fairlawn cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior from 12 noon to 2pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Whittington

Larry Whittington, 60, of Hankamer died Dec. 28, 2012.

A Graveside Service will be held 10AM, Jan. 07, 2013 in Richardson cemetery, Hankamer, TX.

Cherishing his memories are brother: David Whittington Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Casey

Lewis Odell Casey died December 31, 2012, at his home in Tarkington Prairie, Texas in Liberty County.

He was born December 22, 1934, in Goose Creek, Texas and grew up in the Cedar Bayou community where he and his family were members of the Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Casey, his mother Eva Blagrave Casey and his wife of forty-eight years, Dorothy Evans Casey. He is survived by three sons, Kenneth Casey, Don Casey and his wife Dianna and Leeland Casey; grandchildren, Ayla, Clay, Kadi Lee, and Kodi Casey and Keth Lewellyn and her husband Jayme; great-grandchild, Parker Paige Lewellyn; brother, James Casey and his wife Lieta; sister, Jane Barilleaux and her husband Archie; numerous nieces and nephews and his best friend and traveling companion Denise Barkis.

Odell Casey attended Baytown’s Lee Junior College and The University of Houston's Cullen College of Engineering, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in June of 1962. While attending the University of Houston, Odell was a member of the Theta Tau Engineering Fraternity and by maintaining his grade in the top one fifth of his engineering class he became a Charter Member of the Tau Beta Pi Texas Epsilon Chapter.

Odell joined Johnson Space Center, NASA, Houston, Texas, on July 7, 1962, as a Measurement Engineer, spending 17 years as a Test Measurement Engineer in Crew and Life Support Systems Laboratory; 13 years managing Laboratories and 5 years as Assistant to the Engineering Director, implementing both an integrated laboratory safety program and ISO process. Casey has received many prestigious awards including several NASA Medals during his career with NASA, including “Exceptional Service Metal”, "Exceptional Achievement Metal”, and as a team member, “The Presidential Medal of Freedom” for Apollo 13 Mission Operations Team April 19, 1970.

Odell was certified as a Professional Engineer on January 29, 1969, by the State of Texas and has maintained his license to date. Odell was awarded a US Patent No. 3, 448, 341 for an "Electrical Load Protection Device" on June 3, 1969.

Lewis Odell Casey retired as Assistant to the Director of Engineering at JSC NASA, Houston, Texas, on December 31, 1999. In 2004/2005 Casey worked for Jacobs Engineering in a start up contract for JSC's Engineering Directorate's "Laboratory Operation Contract" Support.

Odell has been a reserve Texas Peace Officer for over 20 years attaining the rank of Captain with the Harris County Sheriff’s Department, from which he retired and continued with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department.

In his retirement years Odell was very involved in his Tree Farm in Tarkington Prairie. The farm was awarded both the stewardship award and the watershed award. He was on the executive board of Three Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America, president elect of the Southeast Texas Forester's Association and district directors of the Lower Trinity Valley Soil and Water Conservation Board. He received his Master Mason designation in October 2012, as a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge 321 Cedar Bayou.

Casey had a quick, brilliant mind and a kind and loving spirit. He was loved and will be missed by many.

Memorials may be made to local law enforcement or to the church or charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Bayou Methodist cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Bender, Lynn Enderli, David Burris, Glen Jennings, Carl Pickett, Clay Casey and Kodi Casey.

Arrangements are under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521, (281) 422-8111.

Vasquez

Rosa Vasquez, 83, of Liberty, died Tuesday January 1, 2013.

She enjoyed attending church with Brother Louis. She loved to tend to her garden. She enjoyed crocheting. She was a great cook, especially her tamales.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Constancio Castillo; parents, Manuel and Isidra Vasquez; daughter, Maria Castillo; sons, Santiago Castillo, Martias Castillo, Benjamin Castillo; aunt, Ciprana Vasquez.

She is survived by her children, Vincente Castillo of Fort Worth, Ana Martinez and husband Sotero of Liberty, Berta Martinez and husband Fidel of Liberty, Jose Castillo of Mexico; brothers, Simon Vasquez of Mexico, Leon Vasquez and wife Rosa of Mexico, Vincente Vasquez of Mexico, Sebastian Vasquez of Mexico; sisters, Yolanda Vasquez-Ramirez of Mexico, Maria Vasquez and husband Ceferino of Mexico; 25 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday January 7, 2013. A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday January 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Liberty, officiated by Reverend Kevin Badeaux. Burial will follow at the Catholic cemetery of Liberty.
