Millikan

Loretta Diane Millikan age 61 died at her home in Crosby, suddenly, Sunday December 23, 2012.

Loretta was born in East Brady, PA the daughter of Lloyd Hiles and Loretta Young Hiles. Loretta worked the past twenty-five years for United Parcel Service; she spent twenty-three of those in Liberty. When Loretta would come to your office or home, she always had a smile and brightened your day. A crafting wizard, she could sew, scrapbook, embroider, and hot glue just about anything. After her retirement, she always had a project, working against some deadline, and always doing her best work.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Hiles, and a brother, Dennis Hiles.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her high school sweetheart, and husband of forty-three years, Brent A. Millikan of Crosby, mother Loretta Hiles of Phoenix, AZ, sons Christopher Millikan of Crosby, Toby Millikan of Pearland, TX, and Daniel Millikan of Houston, TX, sisters Shirley Hiles, Peggy Lavine, and Linda Davis all of Phoenix, AZ, eight grandchildren, Brentley, Christopher, Nicholas, Dylan, Gavin, Gale, Bobby, and Ruby Millikan. In addition she leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held in Loretta’s memory, 7PM Thursday, January 3, 2013 with visitation an hour prior to the service at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas.

Leonard

Jeann Dennis Leonard died peacefully on December 23, 2012, after a lengthy journey through Alzheimers Disease.

Known for her kind and gracious spirit and zest for life, these traits prevailed to her final days. Jeann was a devoted wife and Mother, always full of encouragement and support for her family. A resident of Liberty since 1954, Jeann had a lifetime of community and church involvement and enjoyed her role in Liberty Garden Club and Ladies Bible class. After years of raising her family, Jeann pursued careers in real estate, decorating and antiques. She loved the game of bridge, along with the numerous lifelong friendships forged along the way and among many age groups. She loved to travel, especially with her husband and grandson, David, educating him in geography and state capitols of the Lower 48 for many summers.

Jeann is survived by her husband of 64 years, M.J. Leonard (Joe), who was her beloved husband, devoted spouse and treasured companion during her life and became her loving and patient caregiver through her illness; daughter Jana Tucker and husband George; son Michael Leonard and wife, Colette; the delight of her life, grandson David Leonard and wife, Kelly; brother Wayne Dennis and wife, Robbie, along with adored cousins, nieces and nephews. Jeann was preceded in death by her parents, D.H. and Ada Ripley Dennis, who welcomed Norma Jeann as proud new parents on June 16, 1928, in Erath County; her in-laws W.M. and Ruth Leonard, whom she loved as her own.

Many thanks to Kay Bellard and Leila Chapman for their care and enrichment in her last years and to The Rosemont Memory Care Center in the final months of her life.

Visitation will be held at Allison Funeral Services, 1101 North Travis in Liberty on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. Burial Service at Cooke Memorial cemetery, Thursday, December 27, 2012, 12:30 p.m., at 1910 Lakeland Drive, followed by a Celebration of Jeann’s life at 2:00 p.m. at the Liberty Church of Christ, conducted by Don Prather and Judge Don Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Darrell K. Royal Research Fund for Alzheimers Disease, 3963 Maple Avenue, Suite 390, Dallas, Texas, 75219, or to a charity of ones choice.

Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Hunt

Elizabeth Carol Hunt 58 of Trinity, Texas, Formerly of Hull for 20 years before moving to Trinity where she lived for 3 years and was a homemaker, died Friday December 21, 2012 at her residence.

She is preceded in death by her Father; Josh Holifield and her Brother; James "Jimmy" Holifield.

She is Survived by her Mother Mary Bullock of Trinity, TX; Her husband Dennis Hunt of Trinity, TX; Her daughters Kimberly Clark and husband Marty of Batson, TX and Tammy Hunt of Trinity, TX and her Brother Richard Holifield of Trinity, TX. Carol is also survived by her Grandchildren Kalep Clark of Batson, TX; Kirsty Clark also of Batson, TX; Kimber Taylor of Trinity, TX and Kasandra Taylor of Daisetta, TX.

Funeral Services for her will be held Monday December 24, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Ron Conastes officiating following with an internment at Guedry cemetery in Batson, TX.

Visitation for Mrs. Hunt will be held Sunday December 23, 2012 also at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Ricky Patton, Buzz Williams, Tammy Hunt, Marty Clark, Kalep Clark and Dennis Hunt.

Fore

Rex Wayne Fore age 76 passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 in Silsbee, Texas.

Wayne was born in Atlanta, Texas, September 18, 1936 the son of the late Judge Morris Fore and Hessie Bea Williams Fore. He spent the past thirty-five years working as a consultant in the oilfield. Wayne was a member of the Elks Lodge as well as the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers, Grady Fore and Kenneth Fore, and a son Robert Wayne Fore.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Frances Fore of Liberty, daughters Terri Lynn Butler, Connie Anne Jamison, Wendy Robbins, Sara Jo Richardson, Sue and Debbie. In addition he leaves his special friend and caretaker Christine Rollins, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Wayne will be held Sunday December 23, 2012 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas with a rosary service at 7PM. Funeral services will be held 10AM Monday December 24, 2012 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Magnolia Park cemetery.

Stein

John Marshall Stein, 61, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012.

He was a great musician. He could play any instrument with strings, especially the guitar. He enjoyed motorcycles and hot rods. He loved racing his 2003 Mustang. Eventually his cremated remains will be scattered in the Height Ashbury area of San Francisco.

He is survived by his mother, Eva Stein of San Antonio; brothers, Allan Stein of Dayton, Bob Stein of Austin; niece, Debbie Stein of Austin; nephews, Allan Stein of Baytown and Rocky Buras of Dayton.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 HWY 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 366-2222.

Leeah

Charles (Charlie) Jefferson Leeah Jr., 84 of Dayton died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Michael DeBakey VA Hospital in Houston with his family by his side.

He was a loving father grandfather, uncle and friend.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Eastgate Catholic cemetery. A gathering of Charlie’s family and friends will be from 11:00 to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at the funeral home.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Judy) Leeah whom he met in the U. S. Navy; sons, Jeff Leeah, Dominic Leeah; brother, George Leeah. He was a founding member of First United Methodist Church of Lake Houston. He served on Dayton ISD School Board in the early 1960's and played a big part of civil rights. He served his country in the Korean War in the U.S. Navy, he patrolled the Inchon River and also directed some of the first Jet Fighter Air Strikes every done in a war. Charlie was a Chemical Engineer before retiring. He loved football and baseball. Charlie's greatest love was his family and God. Charlie also loved Fox News.

Charlie is survived by his daughter, Laura Overturf and husband, Ralph; sons, Sidney Leeah, Stephen Leeah and wife, Maria, Dr. Benjamin Leeah and wife, Robin; grandchildren, Elijah, Layla, Madeline, Natalie Leeah, Joel, and Jacob Overturf; a host of other family and friends.

Blair

Ruth Wilsie Blair, 88 of Conroe died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Park Manor of the Woodlands.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Ruth's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church Anahuac for many years. She loved cooking and reading. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Blair; parents, Marshall and Lillian Anderson; brothers, Bob and George Anderson.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Loralea Castaneda and husband Hector of Conroe, TX, Diane Stevens of The Woodlands, TX; sons, Larry Wolfe and wife, Gayla of Harmony, PA., Sherwood J/. Blair and wife Belinda of Baytown, TX., John B. Blair and wife, Mary of Kountze, TX., sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great- grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Riley

Nelda Fay "Coonie" Riley, 71, of Brenham, formerly of Moss Hill, died Sunday, December 16, 2012.

She loved her family. She worked hard her entire life taking care of others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Cooking was her passion. Coonie was Paula Dean before Paula Dean's time.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Gracie Vanya; daughters, Kimberly Lockhart and Susan Thornton; brother, Terrell Vanya.

She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Charles "Chuck" Riley of Brenham; son, Bruce Wayne Lockhart and wife Kitty of Moss Hill; daughter, Janice Kay Kramer and husband Rick of Brenham; brother, Raymond Vanya and wife Sue of Batson; sisters, Carol Price and husband Bill of Batson, Freda LeNormand and husband Robert of Batson, Terry McComber and husband Bob of Hardin; grandchildren, Bubba, Kim, Will, Matt, Katie, Haley, Hanna and Ty; great grandchildren, Karlie, Kaley, Macie, Kody, Kade, BB, Josh, Kaydence, Blain, Logan, Zoey and Kyle; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday December 18, 2012 at Moss Hill cemetery in Moss Hill, TX, officiated by Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth. Serving as pall bearers will be Bubba Guedry, Will Guedry, Ty Lockhart, Matt Thornton, Kody Thornton and Logan Gusman.

In lieu of flowers, donations, in honor of Nelda "Coonie" Riley, may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital at www.StJude.org or 1-800-822-6344.

Wickliff

Attorney Aloysius Wickliff, Sr. passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, in Houston, Texas.

Aloysius was born and educated in Liberty/Ames, Texas.

Al was a successful general practitioner in criminal and civil law and family law also.

He also was an Associate Professor of Law at Texas Southern School of Law.

Al is survived by his children, Marty, Greg, and Cheryl, grand and great- grand children. His sisters; Wilda Carrier of Ames, Mary Louise McGowan of Houston, Laura Pinkney of Los Angles and Rose Wilks of Dallas one brother Alfred of Ames, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, son; Bruce, as well as his parents Edward and Ellen Wickliff, brother Raymond and sister; Ernestine Fontenot.

Visitation and Funeral Mass will be Tuesday Dec 18, 2012. Visitation at 9:00 -10:45 with the rosary at 10:15 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic of Houston. 4000 Sumpter Street.

King

Sam E. King Sr., 84 of Baytown died on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Eminence Baptist Church in Wallisville. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Sam's family and friends will be from 11:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Monday at the church.

Sam was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lola King; many brothers and other loved ones. He was a 1948 graduate of Anahuac High School, a member of Anahuac Masonic Lodge 995 and Grand Lodge of Texas, 32rd Scottish Rites.

Sam is survived by his daughter, Lola Lynette Nordine and husband, Dennis; son, Sam E. King Jr. and wife, Penny; granddaughters, Ashley Roy and Betsy King; grandson, Willie Alford and four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Brod of Gatesville, TX numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Earp

Carolyn Ann Burnett Earp, 54, of Dayton died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Methodist Hospital in Houston with her family by her side.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at First Assembly of God in Dayton under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. A gathering of Carolyn's family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the church.

Carolyn was a native of Liberty and a member of First Assembly of God in Dayton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doug Tanner and Mae McNeill; brother, Donald Tanner. She loved shopping at Walmart (her midnight runs), riding her motorcycle, swimming and playing in the "blue water". She was a minister in the Texas Pentecostal Association and loved singing.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 27 years, Danny (D.C.) Earp; daughter, Melissa Ann Fregia, Sheyla Jo Price; sons, Clarence Edward Fregia, and Donny Jackson Earp; godchild, Michaela Phelon; sisters, Daine Giddens and Lisa Tanner; Stepfather, Ralph McNeill; and a host of other family and friends.

Kaps

Linda Kaps of Dayton died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at her home in Dallas.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Dayton with Rev. Jon Stouffer officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. The family will receive friends Monday evening 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Eric Jones, Randy Jones, John Jackson, Chris Cribbs, Kyle Boyer and Rick Sparks. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Lackey and Gary Lackey.

Linda was born August 16, 1939 in Anahuac, Texas to parents: Vaughn Freeman White and Lammie Ann Jones White. She married Charles M. McClain in 1958 and they were married for 26 years until his death in 1984. Linda married Jess Kaps in 1991 and they were married until his death in 2008. She and Charles owned and operated Dayton Vacuum Truck Service. She also worked alongside Jess at Kaps and Chaddick accounting firm. Linda was active in the Dayton community for many years, serving as Dayton city councilwoman, election judge, a director of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce, board member of the Dayton Community Development Corporation and the Dayton Public Library board. She was a member of the DAR, Genealogical Society, and the Magnolia Ridge Ladies Golf Association.

Beloved mother and grandmother, affectionately known as GiGi, she enjoyed her genealogy work, bridge, traveling with friends and family. She recently moved to Dallas to be near her grandchildren, rarely missing one of their many sporting events, even while she bravely battled Colon Cancer for 13 months. Linda was preceded in death by her husbands, sister-in-law, Shirley White and brother, Vaughn Patrick White. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl L. and Robin Bradford of Dallas; her son: Vaughn W. McClain of Harker Heights; daughter-in-law: Kay McClain of Harker Heights; her grandchildren: James and Sophie Bradford of Dallas; other family members and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank the many family and friends who supported her through her illness with prayers, calls, cards, and visits. Donations can be made in memory of Linda to the Jones Public Library, Dayton, TX or the American Cancer Society for research in the field of Colorectal Cancer.
