Reeves

Ruby Bernadine Reeves, 95, died December 15, 2012 in Liberty, TX and joined those who preceded her, parents: Charles & Charlsie Francis; husband, Curtis T. Reeves.

She graduated from Forest Hill High School in Louisiana and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. She enjoyed being an active member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Rosewyn Chapter #927, Order of the Eastern Star. Ruby was a devoted teacher in Houston I.S.D. and Sheldon I.S.D. Her love for sports, gardening and her grandchildren was present throughout her life.

She is survived by her children: Brent Reeves & wife Betty, Beth Reeves McKenney & husband Frank, Jan Reeves Ley, Bruce Reeves; grandchildren: Nolan Ley, Shannon Reeves Gardner & husband Mark, Meredith McKenney Schulz & husband Marc, Audrey Ley, Max Ley, Curtis Reeves, Kurt McKenney, Keaton Ley; sisters: Mable Crenshaw, Bea Francis.

Visitation will be from 1PM until the start of the Funeral Service at 2PM on Wednesday, Dec. 19th at Brookside.

Herring

Margaret Louise Hebert Herring, 81, of Dayton died Thursday, December 13, 2012 in Houston.

She was born February 24, 1931 in Houston, Texas to parents, Minus John Hebert and Anna Reistine Hebert.

She had been a resident of Dayton for 52 years and was Catholic by faith.

Margaret enjoyed traveling, animals, and being surrounded by her family.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2012 at Brookside cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eugene and Neil Hebert. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, G. E. Herring of Dayton; sons: Gregory Herring and wife Cheryl and Mark Herring and wife Laneé; grandchildren: Adrienne Herring, Brent Herring, Jesse Herring, Alex Richard, Dylan Herring; great-grandchild: Brayden Durocher; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Steed

Warren B. Steed, 86, of Liberty died 13 December 2012 after an extended illness.

He was born 24 October 1926, to Warren Bethel Steed and Ethel Ione Eargle in Conroe, Texas.

Warren enlisted in the United States Navy during his senior year at Willis High School and served from 30 September 1944 until 7 June 1946. He remained in the Navy reserves until 7 June 1954.

Upon his discharge in 1946, he completed an additional year of high school classes to meet the enrollment requirements at Texas A&M College where he enrolled in the Civil Engineering program.

While at A&M, Warren was crowned “king of stokers”, after having puffed away for one hour and 12 minutes with his standard briar pipe.

After graduating from A&M in 1951, Warren began work for the Texas Highway Department as an Engineering Assistant in Port Arthur.

Shortly thereafter, he transferred to the Liberty Office.

He worked on the design and construction of many of the road and bridge projects in Liberty County during his career and retired as Senior Resident Engineer from the Highway Department in 1987.

He was both a registered professional engineer and a registered public surveyor in Texas.

Warren married Bonnie Jean Noack on 16 November 1956 at Batson Prairie Baptist Church.

They lived in Liberty for over 56 years where Warren was an active member of the Liberty Lions Club and Liberty Masonic Lodge No. 48.

He served as both President of the Lions Club and Worshipful Master of Liberty Lodge as well as numerous other offices.

He also served as scout master for Troop 56. He received the Lions Club Melvin Jones Fellows in 1994, 60 Year Masonic Service Award in 2008, and the James E. West Fellow Award from the Boy Scouts of America’s Three Rivers Council in 2012. For many years, Warren created the Liberty Panther Football game programs using an exacto knife and rubber cement.

Warren and Bonnie were members of Heights Baptist Church and for the last 13 years were members of First Baptist Church of Liberty. They enjoyed traveling with the Senior Adults. In addition to these trips, they enjoyed traveling through the Ozarks, Smokey Mountains, and Eastern United States, often taking the grandchildren with them.

Warren’s parents and his sisters, Mabel Trusty, Agnes Cramer, and Grace Johnson, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Steed; daughter Tanya Wiggins and husband Michael of Dallas; son Brett Steed and wife Raquel of Liberty; and son Kerry Steed and wife Wendy of Madison, Mississippi; his beloved grandchildren Jordan Wiggins Lopez and husband Donnie, Joel Wiggins and wife Melinda, Bonnie Steed, Jenni Steed, and Benjamin Steed; and great grandchildren Michael, Melanie, and Gabriel Wiggins, and Warren “Wren” Lopez. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services for Warren B. Steed will be Monday, December 17, 2012 at 2pm at the First Baptist Church in Liberty, TX. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 5pm to 7pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Kelley

Jade Allison Kelley, 44, of Liberty, died Tuesday December 11, 2012.

She was born June 2, 1968 in Beaumont. She attended West Hardin School later attending Sam Sam Houston State and Lee College. She earned her degree in nursing as a LVN in 2002. She worked for many years as a dialysis nurse and then worked as a hospital nurse. Everyone who came in contact with Jade, either being patients, friends, family, or a complete stranger, knew they met a special lady never to be forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Lloyd and Ethel Kelley and Herman and Anna Faye Die.

She is survived by her husband Jesus Reyes of Mexico; father, Jim Kelley and wife Alura of Sour Lake; mother, Mickey Noonkester and husband Wayne of Liberty; daughters, Jayla Parish of Liberty, Tristen Parish of Liberty; step-son, Junior Reyes and wife Leah of Nederland; brother, Jimmy Kelley of Liberty; step-brother, Chance Noonkester of Beaumont; grandson, Danny Reyes of Nederland.

Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Service Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 on Friday December 14, 2012. A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 15, 2012 at The Votaw Worship Center, officiated by Pastor Don Prather and Walter Lowe. Burial will follow at Votaw cemetery in Votaw, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be Garrick Rutland, Junior Reyes, Curtis Davis, Chance Noonkester, Dusten Collins and Adele Bradley.

Medders

Barbara Ann Medders age 75, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Liberty-Dayton Hospital.

Barbara was born in Georgia, April 26, 1937. She enjoyed cards, board games, and was very giving person.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Mildred Clark, son James Leon Medders, sister Billie Cobb, and a brother Wayne Butler. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Stacey Medders of Anahuac and a daughter Jamelle Cavous of Pearland. In addition she leaves seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 3PM Saturday December 15, 2012 in Fairlawn Memorial Park, Liberty, Texas. Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Gallander

Margaret A. (Linda) Gallander, 80 of Batson died on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at her home. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Linda was born June 9, 1932 in LaPiedad, Mexico to Francisco and Carmen Guillen Alavardo. She was the youngest of thirteen children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband of 46 years, Fred Ellis Gallander and twelve brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sour Lake, TX under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Guedry cemetery in Batson, TX. A gathering of Linda’s family and friends will be from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 9:00 P.M. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sour Lake, Texas.

Mrs. Gallander is survived by her children Carmen DeMarr and husband, Ric of New Orleans, LA, Fred Ellis Gallander Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Park City, UT, Alfred Gallander and wife, Judy of Batson, David Stewart Gallander and wife Mary of Liberty Hill, TX, John Gallander and wife, Acel of Porter, TX, Frank Gallander and wife, Linda of Kingwood, TX, Ernest Gallander of College Station, TX.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Amy Qualls and husband, Colonel Roy Qualls, USAF, Brian Gallander and wife, Terri, John Gallander and wife, Sarah, Olivia Pendleton and husband, Will, Michelle Allen and husband, John, David Anthony Gallander and wife, Carmen, Joshua Gallander and wife Kaitlyn, Lauren Gallander, Cassandra Baxter and husband, David, David Stewart Gallander, Zachary Gallander, Samuel Gallander, Kristen Gallander, Catherine DeMarr, Mary Gallander, Bridget Gallander, Ethan Gallander, Rachel Gallander and Sterling Gallander; Great-Grandchildren Jordan and Gabrielle Qualls, Mallory, Emily and Eli Gallander, Seth, Eva and Kiera Gallander, Noah, Caleb, Ian, Eli and Makaela Allen, Isabella and Maddox Baxter.

Thomas

Regina Semien Thomas, 78 of Houston, Texas died Wednesday, December 9, 2012.

Regina was born on April 18, 1934 in Welch, Louisiana to Joseph and Ann Guillory Semien.

She is preceded in death by: parents; son, Paul Victorian; brothers, August Semien, Louis Semien, Joseph Semien; Nelson Semien, Allen P. Semien, Sisters; Mary Edwards, Bertha Semien, half Brother, Michael Guillory, half-sister, Madlyn Guillory, granddaughter, Kristal Gilbert and great-grandson, Arthur Jacob.

She is survived by her daughters, Martina, Josephine, Mary Ann, and Betty, and her son Jimmy, brothers; Wilson, H. Semien, Alford Guillory, sisters; Shirley J. Semien and Mary Wickliff, and by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 9-11 am at New Covenant at 204 Ridge Drive, Crosby, TX., with funeral services following the visitation at 11am.

Services are entrusted to Sterling White Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg, Highland, Texas.

Fruge

Barbie Jean Fruge was born September 26, 1932 to the late Irene Edwards and Hubert Hamilton in Fort Worth, Texas.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.

After graduating from I.M. Terrell High School in Fort Worth, Texas, she attended Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.

From there, she went on to attend Prairie View A&M University to receive a Bachelors degree in English and triple Masters degree in English, Elementary Education and Music.

Barbie began a dedicated career in teaching at Morton Junior High School in Morton, Texas.

After a year, she went on to teach at Liberty Training Union in Liberty Texas.

She settled in Hull-Daisetta where she made a lasting impact through 31 years of service before retiring.

She served as a devoted member and musician for Saint Miles Missionary Baptist Church for 41 years.

Afterwards she served as musician at Galilee Baptist Church and lastly Mount Rose Baptist Church.

Barbie J. Fruge had a passion for education and music that enabled her to touch the hearts and minds of many.

She was highly regarded by her students and members of the community.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, John Fruge, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Dennis Stewart(Virginia); daughter, Vanessa Fruge (Taqiyy); eight grandchildren: Dana Cartwright, Krystal Howard and husband, Eric, Shamsiddin Saleem, Adonis Steart, Ahkibah Saleem, Ramziddin Saleem, and Zakiya Saleem, and four great-grandchildren: Adrian Moore, Xavier Wilson, Daylon Giddens, and Aniyah Morris.

Visitation will be Dec 14, 2012 from 2-6pm at Wells Funeral Home, Liberty Texas Funeral will be Dec 15, 2012 at 11:00 am at Mount Rose Baptist Church, Liberty Texas

Espinoza

Francisco Espinoza, age 51, a resident of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, December 09, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

He was born January 22, 1961 in Amoladeras San Luis Potosin to parents Bernadino Espinoza and Jauna Blanco.

He leaves behind his loving wife Maria C. Huerta Espinoza; daughter Millie Morales Gonzalez; sons Francisco Jr. Espinoza, and Guadalupe Heguia, George Huerta; sisters Maria, Luisa, Reyna, Ilaria, Martina, Maria del Consuelo – Espinoza Blanco; brothers Florencio Espinoza Blanco, Felix Espinoza Blanco; grandchildren Juany Consuelo Heguia, Karla B. Delgado, Alexa N. Espinoza, Midella Juanita, Maria Elena, Roberto, Alberto Gonzalez, George Jr. Huerta Esperanza Maria-Huerta, and Aleshia Tean Geist-McDuffie, Leland Edward Andrew Geist; great-grandchild Mileah Katherine Gonzalaes.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 a.m. (Rosary, December 13, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.) at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Father Eric Groaner will preside over funeral services being held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Cleveland, Texas; with interment following at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens, Cleveland, Texas. Pallbearers include Alberto Gonzalez, Francisco Jr. Espinoza, Roberto Gonzalez, Guadalupe Espinoza, Erasmo Espinoza, Felix Espinoza, Maximino Espinoza, and Florenzo Espinoza.

Davis

Eva Lou Davis, 82 of Liberty died December 11, 2012 in Beaumont.

She was born May 31, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas to Lewie and Myrtle Fagg.

She was a dedicated member and piano player at Calvary Baptist Church for over 35 years. She spent many years participating in the WMU as well as other church ministries and was ordained as a missionary. Eva Lou always enjoyed taking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the Liberty Public Library summer reading program. Her music talent was enjoyed by so many over the years; she enjoyed playing the piano, mandolin and in the recent years the dulcimer.

Eva Lou will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Roger Davis; daughter, Gloria Turner; daughter, Donna Tacy; grandchildren: Stanley Davis and wife Mary; Aleshia Davis, Christopher Turner, Meredith Turner, Raymond Tacy and Stephanie Tacy; great-grandchildren: Dustin, Alanis, Jake, Shawn and Lauren; 3 sisters, 1 brother as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Lionel Davis; her parents; son, Rex Davis; brother Lewie Fagg, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 5pm-8pm; Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Allison Funeral Service 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Interment to follow the funeral service at Worthy cemetery.
