Brightwell

Vivian R. Hudgens Brightwell, 82, of Dayton, died Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with burial following at the Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Vivian was born October 21, 1930 in O’Donnell, to parents; Albert S. and Ludie E. Snow Hudgens, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Dayton for the past 44 years.

She was a homemaker, former cook and operator of Mr. B's Feed Store, member of the Riverside Baptist Church, and assisted in the development of the HWY 321 Volunteer Fire Department.

She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, reading, and working hay with her family.

Mrs. Brightwell was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years: Olin Richard Brightwell, son-in-law: Arnold Jack Graham, and brothers: Wayne, Cotton, and Jimmy Hudgens.

She is survived by her daughter: Belinda Graham of Blanco, sons: Ricky Brightwell of Dayton, Kyle Brightwell and wife Diane of Kenefick, and Gary Brightwell of Dayton, daughter-in-law: Diane Brightwell of Dayton, brothers: Ralph Hudgens of Stockdale and Tommy Hudgens of Alvin, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Abel

Iva Mae Abel, age 83, formerly of Liberty County, died December 11, 2012 in Birmingham, AL. Iva Mae was born July 21, 1929 in Liberty, TX, daughter of the late Eugene Nugent and Maude Taylor Nugent.

She was a housewife all of her life and she loved to cook, bake and especially loved her family. She will be missed by all.

Iva Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband; John Abel, daughter; Deborah Parks, son; Mike Abel, six brothers and two sisters.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, daughter; Sherry Townsend and husband David of Bessemer, AL, son; Jeff Abel of Hardin, five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Services for Iva Mae Abel will be Friday, December 14, 2012 at 2pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Gudery cemetery in Batson.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to service from 12 noon to 2pm.

Lindsey

Funeral services for Johnny Eugene Lindsey, 73, of Jasper will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Little Hope cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11th, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.

Johnny, affectionately known by his children & grandchildren as Pappa John, died surrounded by his loving family on December 9th at his residence in Jasper.

A native of Jasper and a former resident of Dayton, TX, he lived in Jasper for the past 15 years.

A 1957 graduate of Jasper High School, he was a Texas real estate broker and specialized in farms and ranches for over 35 years.

He also owned and operated The Rainbow Cafe in Dayton for nine years and The John Lindsey Convenience Store in Dayton.

A former president of both the Dayton Lions and Rotary Clubs, he was a former member of the Dayton ISD school board.

Johnny was the voice of the Dayton Broncos football team for over 25 years.

He was a former Sunday School Director of the First Baptist Church Dayton and served on various committees for Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jasper.

Survivors include his wife Eileen Lindsey of Jasper; his children, Skeet Lindsey & wife Linda, Jeanne Joubert, Heather Joubert Huval, Lance Lindsey & wife Melissa, Holly York & husband Aaron, April Rozanski & husband Curtis, Darryn Lindsey & wife Lori, and Meridith Grosse; grandchildren, Hannah Monceaux, Haley Hanks, Austin Lindsey, Meagan Huval, Justus Lindsey, Stephen McKewon, Cameron Rozanski, Veronica Lindsey, Emily Lindsey, Brittany Lindsey, Mathew Byers, Sam & Luke Lindsey; and great-grandson Hylan Jude Laviolotte.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father John Edward Lindsey, mother Bernice Edith Jolly, brother Louis Lindsey, sister Evon Lindsey Hamilton, brother Bennie Cyril Lindsey and stepson Dean Joubert.

Memorials may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, PO Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.

Brown

Charlotte Ruth Brown, 75 of Dayton, died on Wednesday December 5, 2012, in Houston.

She was born, Charlotte Ruth Seyfarth, February 8, 1938 in Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi, to parents; Charles Oscar Seyfarth, Sr. and Bertie Elizabeth Matthews Seyfarth.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Ryan cemetery, Tarkington Prairie under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, of 47 years, James V. Brown, Sr., whom she had met at Prince’s Drive In in 1964.

Mrs. Brown had lived in Dayton for 32 years. She was Baptist by faith and was active in her local church.

Ruth loved to cook and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with her grandchildren.

Ruth had many hobbies including sewing, painting and doll-making. She coached her daughters’ softball team and never missed a game.

Ruth had a love for animals of all kinds and was also a collector of antique coffee pots.

Ruth is survived by her son, Jay Brown and wife Kristina of Tampa, FL; daughters, Stacy May and partner Janet Braley and Patricia Anderson and husband, Clay; grandchildren: Chelsea Brahm, Melissa Anderson, Will May, Bryan Anderson and Baby Brown on the way, sister: Joan Moore, brothers: Charles Seyfarth, Gary Seyfarth, other sons and daughters, Johnny, Susie, Carol; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Magnolia Place Healthcare or Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777

Rabner

Omelia Koen Rabner, formally of Hardin, TX died December 6, 2012 in Orem, Utah. Omelia was born April 12, 1924 in Jacksonville, TX, daughter of the late Hugh B. Koen and Bertha Alexander Koen. Omelia attended Houston High School and then attended San Jacinto College in Baytown. She was a beautician for over thirty years. She loved gardening with her flowers as well as vegetables. She was also a wonderful flower arranger. Omelia was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Omelia was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Norman Koen, Herbert Koen, Bill Koen and Eldred Koen, sister; Opal Fenton. She leaves behind to cherish her memories a son; Max Rabner and wife Lanell of Springville, UT, daughters; Deana Langham of Houston, TX, Alicia Cluff and husband Ron of Mapleton, UT, Berenda Paulson of North Odgen, UT, brothers; Elgin Koen of Jacksonville, TX, James Koen and wife Jeanette of Pattison, TX and sister; Rachelle Kersh of Hardin, TX, sixteen grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces.

Services for Omelia Koen Rabner will be Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin, TX. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service from 9am to 11am.

Byars

Lillian Elizabeth Byars age 92, died Monday December 10, 2012 at Magnolia Place Nursing Home.

Lillian was born in Crockett, Texas March 13, 1920, the daughter of the late Isaac Adair and Edna Foster Adair. She was mainly a homemaker but also worked alongside her husband in their family business as a bookkeeper.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as a husband Oscar “Rusty” Byars and her brothers Wilson David Adair and Robert E. Adair Sr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, sons Eddie Byars, Bobby Byars, and George L. Byars, daughter Patricia Ruesewald. Her grandchildren, Pam Litton, Carol Hajovsky, Marianne Gott, Joe Ruesewald, and Jerry Ruesewald. In addition she leaves other grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A visitation for Lillian will be held Thursday from 5-7PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A burial will be held in Rose Hill cemetery in Whittier, California.

Keith

Susan Elizabeth Scott Keith, 69 of Dayton died on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Dayton under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Palms Memorial Park. A gathering of Susan's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Keith; sister, Nancy Berlet. She worked for Harris County Hospital District for several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dayton. Susan loved being with her children and grandchildren.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Vicki Keith; sons, James Scott Keith and wife, Angela, David Keith and wife, Denise; grandchildren, Regina Keith, Jakome Keith, Amanda Keith, Pyper and Macie Roach; sister, Barbara Wilson and husband, Bruce, niece, Sheryl McNabb, nephews, John Berlet, Christopher Wilson; and a host of other family and friends.

Northcutt

Ruth Elizabeth Cameron Northcutt, 65 of Anahuac passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas with her family by her side.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Liz's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the funeral home.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Cameron, brother, Gary Cameron. She was a Champion Oyster Shucker in Apalachicola, Florida in 1977.

Liz is survived by her husband of 30 years, Bobby Ray Northcutt; sons, Troy Williams and wife, Denise, Lenny Williams, David Williams; daughter, Marilyn Moore and husband, Bobby; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Williams and husband, Coy, Carol Samford; brother, Jimmy Cameron and wife, Blanch; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Sellers

Stanley Ray Sellers, 79, of Saratoga, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 at his residence.

He was born May 16, 1933 in Honey Island, and lived in Saratoga most of his life and had worked for Tenneco of Liberty as a maintenance foreman. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Saratoga.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Dora Sellers; many siblings, and two children.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years and 6 months Carrol Sellers of Saratoga; daughters, Peggy Sellers of Baton Rouge, Karen Foyil and husband Kenneth of Saratoga. Grandchildren are Robert and Ashley Moody of Vidor, Eric and Allison Gannon of Maryland, Dustin and Nicole Gannon of Saratoga, Jeremy and Chantal Stepan of Hamshire, Matt and Sharon Foyil of Saratoga, Matthew and Monica Enloe of Batson. Great grandchildren are Aubury Moody, Tyson Gannon, Hailey and Laci Enloe, Adrian and Alex Foyil and many nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends.

His family will receive friends on Tuesday December 11, 2012 at Faith and Family Funeral Service Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 12, 2012 also at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel, officiated by Reverend Jeff Blizzard and Reverend Jim Atkins. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Gannon, Dustin Gannon, Robert Moody, Glen Stephens, Leslie Stephens and Tim Stephens.

Service of remembrance under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson, Texas 77519.

Vogel

Alma Loyce Vogel age 77 died Friday December 7, 2012 at her home.

She was born in Liberty, June 10, 1935, the daughter of the late Clint Fregia and Bernice Junkiens Fregia. She worked for over seventeen years for Liberty ISD as a cook in the school cafeteria. Alma was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Daisetta.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Herbert Vogel, son John Wayne Vogel, brothers Elson, Clifton, and Maurice Fregia.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Sandra Vogel of Liberty, son Billy Wayne Vogel of Bellville, granddaughter Nicki Wiggins and her husband Jeff of Hardin, Great-granddaughters Kailey Le Normand and Emma Claire Wiggins, brothers RW Fregia of Liberty, Vernon Fregia of College Station, and Franklin Fregia of Dansbury, sisters Mary Fregia of Liberty and Norma Maxine Fregia of Liberty. In addition she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Visitation for Alma will be held Sunday December 9, 2012 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held 10AM Monday, December 10, 2012 at the funeral home with internment to follow in Vela Fregia cemetery.
