Crawford

Mary Louise “Canada” Crawford was born June 3, 1919 in Red Oak, Texas, Ellis County, a few miles north of Waxahachie. Louise went to be with Jesus on October, 5, 2012. She was next to the youngest of eleven children born to Charley Franklin Canada and Matilda “York” Canada all of which precede her in death, except for her sister, Edith Keller of Celina, Texas.

Louise attended school at Dorchester, TX in Grayson County. After her graduation in 1938 she met Virgil Keith of Vandalia, MO. They were married on October 12, 1940. Her son, Jerry W. Keith, was born on August 22, 1941 in Vandalia, MO. Jerry predeceased her in November, 1987.

Louise was divorced in 1946, she and Jerry moved to St. Louis, MO, where they lived until she married Riley Long on April 30, 1960. During this time, her son Jerry and Geneva were married and had two sons, Kevin and Kyle. Louise and Riley traveled all over the United States due to his job with Brown and Root. In 1969 they settled in Moss Hill, TX, Liberty County where they raised and trained thoroughbred horses. Riley retired from the company in 1984 and passed away in November 1994.

Later in life, Louise met Reuel Crawford, both were in their senior years. They were married on September 20, 1997. They had ten good years together. Reuel passed away on January 16, 2008.

Louise is survived by: her sister, Edith Keller, daughter-in-law Geneva of Troy, MO; grandsons, Kevin Keith (Lori) of Troy, MO and Kyle Keith (Carol) of Chicago, IL, great-grandchildren; Kolin, Kieran and Eva Keith as well as nephews: Carrell Canada (Helen) of Houston, TX, Marvin Keller (Annette) of Sherman, TX, Jim Keller (Toni) of Whitesboro, TX, Kenneth Canada of Dallas, TX, J.B. Jenkins and family of Midlothian, TX and Leon Joslyn and family of New Mexico.

Louise has lived in the Moss Hill community since 1969 and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Moss Hill cemetery at 11am and will be under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Eastman

Henry Edward “Ed” Eastman Jr. age 84 died October 6, 2012 at his home with his beloved family by his side.

Ed was born in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas March 21, 1928 the son of the late Henry Edward Eastman Sr. and Ollie E. Wilson Eastman. Ed enjoyed raising his tomatoes, fishing, hunting, and cooking. He served in both the US Army as well as the US Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. Ed moved to Liberty County from Tennessee in 1957 and worked as a mechanic, in 1979; he opened and operated Shamrock Equipment Rentals until his retirement in 2004.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Zadie Emogene “Jean” Eastman and a son Stephen Gardner Eastman.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son Mike Eastman and wife Peggy, sisters Amelia Eastman, Sharlene Chaney, Reba Reese, grandchildren Matthew Eastman, Molly Eastman, Jordan Eastman, and Karie Landrum.

He also leaves a friend and companion Sue McMullan, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held for Ed Monday October 8, 2012 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services will be held 10AM Tuesday October 9, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be private. .

Johnson

Nickie Jay Johnson, age 61, and lifetime resident of Cleveland, Texas, died Friday, October 05, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a hard battle with cancer. He was born September 17, 1951 in Cleveland, Texas to parents Joseph C. and Ina Johnson; and brother Max Dedman.

Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years Mikki Johnson; daughter Jodi Pickering and husband Jesse Pickering; sister Janice Dedman Hope; grandchildren Emma Johnson and Chesley Johnson; numerous other cherished family members and a host of faithful friends beyond measure.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 07, 2012, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Billy Walker will preside over funeral services being held 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 08, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas with interment following at Cleveland Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers include Dudley Keng, Lowell Thompson, Wayne Steward, Phillip Morrow, Neil Lowery, Barry Johnson, Rick Maness, and Ernie Lewis Glenn; honorary pallbearers include Tony Hope, Acie Johnson, Lamar Kelley, James Donald Johnson, Jerry Glenn, Chester York, Carl Ray Glenn, and Charles Coe.

Cornelius

Dorothy Virginia May Cornelius, 80, of Liberty died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Humble, Texas.

She was born April 21, 1932 in Liberty, Texas to parents Lou and Emma May. She was a lifelong resident of this area and attended Hardin High School. She was a member of the Heights Baptist Church, volunteered for all the meals at church, enjoyed doing crafts and tending her garden but most of all she loved being with her family.

Graveside service for Mrs. Cornelius or “Aunt Cupie” as she was known by many will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2012 at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mrs. Cornelius was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 34 years, Guy M. Cornelius, and sisters: Nadine Ross and Jewel Payne. She is survived by daughter, Sharon Wells and husband Keith of Liberty; grandchildren Brandy M. Parker and husband Calvin, Heather D. Carter and husband Les, and Courtney E. Wells; great-grandchildren: Logan T. and Lacee P. Carter; sister: Maxine Ray of Cleveland; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Felton

Scooter Felton, age 43, a lifetime resident of Coldspring, Texas, died after a hard battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 03, 2012 at M.D. Anderson, Houston, Texas.

He was born October 09, 1968 in Houston, Texas. Scooter found great joy in cooking; family gatherings were made tastier with his Bar-B-Q along with his passion for cook-offs. When he had the time he loved fishing. Scooter’s family was the light of his life, he was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and steadfast friend; he will be remembered lovingly.

Survivors include his wife Tammie Felton; parents Edward and Beverly Felton; daughter Shauna Elaine Jackson; sons Joshua Edward Felton, Joel Jason Welch, Josh Ward, son-in-law Dustin Keith Jackson; sister Donna Felton; brothers Michael Wells and wife Jessica, Timothy Wells and wife Beverly; grandchildren Kyia Elizabeth Jackson, Liam Edward Felton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other cherished family members and faithful friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 05, 2012, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 06, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment following at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens. Pallbearers include Dustin Jackson, Michael Wells Sr., Michael Wells Jr., Joel Welch, Josh Ward, Wrangler Martin, Bradley Caddenhead, Cody Harrison, Joshua Felton, Timothy Wells, Jacob Wells, and Brian Dean.

Rothbauer

Cora Lee Rothbauer, age 67, of Rye, Texas, died Friday, September 28, 2012 at Conroe Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 11, 1945 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to parents Osler Edwards and Annie Sprinkle who preceded her in death along with her son Will Morris Jr.; and her brother Frank Edwards.

Cora Lee had a huge heart and had a passion for giving and doing for others. She was a member of the Schwab City Baptist Church and one of God’s most loyal servants. She was a joyful worker for the Lord as she spent long hours making teddy bears for abused children. She also treasured the time spent with her quilting group. Every day of her life was a special occasion and a reason to rejoice; she never met anyone that didn’t love her.

Her most loved role in life was that of a Mother. She adored her daughters Susan Norton, Elizabeth Wainscott and Karen Combe; sisters Ruby Barger and Joyce Heidlebaugh; grandchildren Victoria Rothbauer, Amber Wainscott, Mathew Vela, and Aiden Wainscott; nephews Lowell Muenshau and Allen Siebeneicher; nieces Michelle Murphy, Darla Muenchau, Dana Muenchau and Betty Coker; numerous other cherished family members and faithful friends. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her on earth and received joyfully unto the Lord in Heaven.

Bro. David Jones will preside over funeral services being held Friday, October 5, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Peebles cemetery, Goodrich, Texas. Pallbearers include Ricky Norton, Caleb Brinkman, Jerry Pierson, Michael Combe, Jeff Martin and Doug Murphy; honorary pallbearers include Mathew Vela and Aiden Wainscott.

Haley

A Memorial Services for Jewel R. Haley, 59, will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Henderson Mortuary, Magnolia, Arkansas, with Reverend Gerald Brooks, burial in Old St. Matthews cemetery, Arkansas, under the direction of Wells Funeral Services.

Jewell was born on September 17, 1953, to the late Eddie and Jewel Curry Haley.

She is survived by three sisters: Tina Semien (Joseph), Opal Jordan, Ruthie Minix; four brothers: Charles (Sharon) Haley, Bobby (Trina) Haley, Micheal Shane Haley and Terry (Sue Etta) Haley, all of Liberty, Texas.

Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Wells Funeral Chapel.

William “Bill” E. Sturm

William was born in Middlefield, Ohio on June 14, 1933 to the late Jennie May Strong and the late Thomas Earl Sturm.

He is survived by his brother Jack Sturm of Cleveland, Georgia; Shirley, his loving wife for 50 years; daughters Patricia and husband Milton Mifflin of Dayton, Texas; Susan Payne-Pimentel and husband Christian Pimentel of Dallas, Texas; and son Erik and his wife Diana Sturm of Fulton, Missouri; grandchildren Amanda Michelle and Kevin Miles Mifflin and Melinda Antoinette and Courtney Elizabeth Payne.

Bill served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for four years.

Worked with Philco Corporation as radio relay equipment site engineer on a mountaintop in Morocco for a year.

Bill worked with Philco Ford Corporation for five years as an Electronic Engineer for the USAF Ground Electronics Engineering Installation Agency (GEEIA) at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma and Griffis AFB, New York

Bill enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the aerospace industry. He was extremely fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to make and be part of manned space flight history. His aerospace career spanned 34 years of service with Ford Aerospace, Rockwell Space Operations Company, and United Space Alliance. He worked on five National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) manned spaceflight programs (Gemini through Shuttle) and manned the Johnson Spacecraft Center (JSC) mission control center (MCC) during 49 space missions.

During the Apollo Program Bill worked in the Lunar Module (LM) Branch and participated in man’s first landing on the moon (Apollo 11). The Apollo 13 aborted lunar landing mission required a complete rewrite to the astronaut’s checklists and to piece together a totally new flight plan in real time for the safe recovery of the flight crew. The Apollo 13 mission was considered by many as the flight control team’s finest hour of which Bill was a part.

Bill moved from flight controller engineering support to development of MCC requirement documents for Shuttle payloads, developing the Payload Operations Control Center (POCC) Capabilities Document, and became the ISO 9000 Document Coordinator for Spaceflight Operations. Bill’s persistence and dedication in “doing things the right way” and challenging radical departures while allowing for innovation, were an inspiration to all with whom he was associated. He received numerous awards and recognition from NASA and his employers including NASA’s Silver Snoopy Award presented to him by Astronaut Bill Gregory.

Bill was proud to have been part of the team that advanced the nations capability in space and wrote space history.

Bill was happiest when he could sit down and read a good book, work a jig saw puzzle, write a book, or help his family members in their various projects. He loved staying home and taking care of his two Scottish Terriers. He was a wonderful husband, loving father, and will really be missed by all the people that knew him.

Jamison

J. R. “Bob” Jamison, 82, born and raised in Dayton, Liberty County, Texas died at home outside of Dayton, Texas on Monday, October 1, 2012.

Bob attended public schools in Dayton and received a B.A. degree in Finance from Sam Houston University in Huntsville. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was attached to S.H.A.F.E. in Paris, France.

Bob served as an avid sportsman, conservationist, businessman, writer and patriot serving his community in numerous ways. He was Chairman of the Board of Dayton State Bank, belonged to the American Bankers Association and Texas Bankers Association and numerous other professional organizations. He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School teacher, Board of Stewards and Administrative Council. He was State Chairman of Ducks Unlimited and served on the National Board for many years. He served as a 25 year member of Dayton Volunteer Fire Department, on the Dayton City Council, and was Liberty-Dayton Chamber of Commerce “Citizen of the Year”. Bob was author of “Airplanes, Alligators and Hi-Fin Blues”, feature columnist for The Liberty Gazette newspaper, other newspapers, magazines, and sporting publications, as well as member of the Texas Outdoor Writers Association.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Magnolia Park cemetery. Memorial Service for Mr. Jamison will be 3:30 p.m., Thursday, October 04, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jon Stouffer officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W. T. Jamison and Allene Solomon Jamison of Dayton; sister Allene Jamison Hodges of Stephenville, sister Louise Jamison Clark of Dayton, and brother W. T. “Bill” Jamison, Jr. of Dayton. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda McGowan Jamison of Dayton, son, Pete Michael Jamison of Dayton, daughter, Ann Jamison of Houston, sister, Dorothy Jamison Tate of Houston, numerous nephews, nieces, and “greats” and special friends.

Harmon

Betty L. Harmon, 83 of Midland, Texas died on Monday, October 1, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital in Midland.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Abshier cemetery. A gathering of Betty's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Betty was preceded by her parents, L.H. and Lelia Taylor. She was a member First United Methodist Church in Anahuac. She loved painting and being with her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Billy E. Harmon; daughters, Vickie Gotcher and husband, Robert, Katie Harmon; grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Vincent, and Layla; and a host of other family and friends.

Adams

Barbara Jean Williams “Nanny” Adams, 74, of Dayton died Saturday, September 29, 2012 at home surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born September 14, 1938 in Fresno, California to parents, Dally C. and Helen Ridgeway Williams and graduated in 1956 from Los Banos High School. She had lived in Dayton for the past 11 years after moving from Channelview. Barbara enjoyed cooking, knitting, singing, writing and loved being with her family.

Memorial Service for Mrs. Adams will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Cindy Scoville. Barbara is survived by her husband of 28 years: James F. Adams of Dayton; her daughters: Kimberly Cantu and husband Ernest of League City, Deneen Case and husband Robert of Needville, Katie Adams of Sugar Grove, NC, Susan Caekins of Wataga, IL, and Kim Weate of Orlando, FL; her sons: Jim Pernetti & wife Toni of Ceres, CA and Robert Pernetti & wife Gina of Elk Grove, CA; grandchildren: Kirby Case, Robert Case, Keiffer Case, Joey Case, Benjamin Pernetti, Jim Pernetti, Michaela Pernetti, Joshua Pernetti, Tia Hulett and husband Cody, Gaylon Adams, Dennis Weate, Anna Weate, Sara Weate, Richard Robertson, and Cheyenne Haynes; great-grandchildren: Mericale Case, Justin Case, and Payton Case; brothers: Lester C. Williams, and Alpheus Williams; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Fairchild

Lillian Rose Herriot Fairchild, age 86, of Mauston, WI passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012.

She was born April 15, 1926 in Mauston, Wisconsin, the daughter of John Herriot and Ruby Robinson Herriot.

She was united in marriage to Philip J. Fairchild on February 19, 1945 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Beloit, Wisconsin.

Lillian was a homemaker, active in her church and community, and always found time to serve others. She volunteered at the Hess Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop and the Mauston Food Pantry. She loved sewing, quilting, making wedding cakes, and playing cards with family and friends.

She is survived by five children, Russell Fairchild of Hardin, TX; Alice Wood of Mauston, WI, Jim (Neva) Fairchild of Carrollton, TX; Lora (Gerry) Partlow of Liberty, TX; and Chip (Terri) Fairchild of Hardin, TX; 14 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phil; 5 brothers and 6 sisters.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mauston. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Crandall's Funeral Home, Mauston, and from 10:30 AM until time of service on Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Patrick's cemetery in Mauston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Touch of Tomah, 321 Butts Avenue, Tomah, WI 5466 or St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 401 Mansion St., Mauston, WI 53948.
