Cook

Stormy Lee Cook, 1 year, 9 months, 26 days, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012.

She was born October 05, 2010 in Alice, Texas to her loving mommy Lindsay Jo Reeves. Stormy Lee was often called “Chunky Monkey”; her life would seem too short for many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile, tiny fingers and baby soft skin brought so much joy to her family. Although she was still small and frail, she gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. Little “Chunky Monkey” enjoyed music, feeding the ducks at the pond with her grandma and other family, and cuddling close to those she loved so much.

She leaves her memories to her mommy Lindsay Jo Reeves; her cherished grandparents Jay and Pam Kirk; great-grandparents Shirley Breedlove, Jack and Linda Kirk, Clayton Reeves; sisters Skyler Jo Brown and Bella Smith; aunt and uncles Amy and Adam Smith Brandon (Uncle Beef) Brown; great aunts and uncles Jimmy and Nancy Reeves, John Reeves, Michelle Kirk; and many other loving and caring family members.

Rev. Byron Reeves will conduct memorial services held 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 03, 2012 at Rural Shade Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas.

Mildred Ann Fisher Cannan, 92, of Willis, Texas died Friday, July 27, 2012. Mildred was born on July 26, 1920 in Liberty, Texas to Charles William Fisher, Sr. and Florence Parthenia Calhoon Fisher. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1937, attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. On August 30, 1940, she married Ed Cannan, Sr. and they shared sixty-three wonderful years together.

Their family was the light of their lives. Their children, Ed Cannan, Jr., Milly Jeffers, Beverly Woolum, and William L. Cannan, Sr. were raised to enjoy fishing, hunting, and camping. This appreciation of nature has been passed down to the nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, creating many happy memories for each generation.

A special legacy of love established by Ed and Mildred was the traditional trek in the woods to “The Magic Christmas Tree.” Each child, regardless of age, anticipated the gold coins scattered along the path lit by luminaries. Guided by granddaddy’s voice announcing each child’s name, at last there it was… “The Magic Christmas Tree”, glittering in the forest with an ornament and a candy cane for each person, grandmother was an accomplished story teller. She would read the Story of Christ’s birth and the singing of Christmas carols would fill the air with joy.

She touched many lives by her gift of teaching and her charitable heart. She faithfully gave to others through her activities in the First United Methodist Church in Liberty, Conroe, and Willis. In addition to being a leader in Brownies and a Sunday school teacher, she was active in United Methodist Women’s Circle Groups.

She was beloved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sister, Charlotte Fisher Finley and husband Bruce, her sister-in-law, Barbara Holcombe Fisher, nieces, nephews, and the community she so graciously served. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, her sisters, Flo Fisher Locke, Charlene Fisher Kourie and brother, Charles William Fisher, Jr.

The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to Connie McClesse, a dear friend for many years and to the loving staff of Embracing Hospice Care, who so tenderly cared for our Mother.

A celebration of Mildred Cannan’s life will be held at the Liberty City cemetery on July 30, 2012 at 10AM. Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Edward B. Cannan Elementary School located at 7639 County Line Rd. Willis, Texas 77378.
