Biggs

Michael Bruce Biggs, 62 of Dayton died at his residence on Tuesday, July 2, 2012. He was a loving son-in-law, brother-in-law and friend.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Houston National cemetery. Local services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Diane Biggs; parents,

Michael is survived by his mother-in-law, Lois Stroud Hollier of Dayton; sister-in-law, Linda Benavides; and a host of other family and friends.

Bean

Thomas Franklin "Tom" Bean, 70, of Kountze, Texas died Wednesday July 4, 2012 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center of Houston.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday July 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Kountze with Reverend Michael Knight officiating.

He was born to William Thomas Bean and Eloise Smith Bean on June 26, 1942 in Kountze, TX where he was a lifelong residence. Tom had retired from Meade West vaco plant in Evadale and was a member of First Baptist Chuch of Kountze for many Years.

He is survived by his wife Ellen C. Bean of Kountze, sons Wallace Bean of Kountze, Christopher Bean and wife Kimberly of Lawton OK. Daughter Robin Murray of Beaumont, sisters Linda Smith of Santa FE, New Mexico, Cheryl Bean of Kountze. Grandchildren; Alex Waller, Christopher Murray, and Emma Elizabeth Bean.

Tom was a fighter up until the end loosing his battle with cancer, and now is gone on to be with his Lord and Savior. Those wishing to make memorial or floral contributions may be made to First Baptist Church 100 W. Monroe Street Kountze, Texas 77625. Cremation services under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson. A wonder husband father, grandfather, and friend Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him very much.

Blackburn

Virgil Everett Blackburn died on July 3, 2012.

Everett (Blackie) Blackburn was born on December 6, 1922, in Richland, Texas to a farming family. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944. His tour led him to parts of the world he had only heard about. Upon his discharge, he relocated to Tyler, Texas where he met Jean Dingler and their 63 year journey began on October 27, 1948. His union with Jean brought his pride and joy, daughters Linda and Jenny.

Blackie and Jean settled in Dayton in 1956, continuing his 34 year career with Texaco. He loved his work in the oil field and made life long friends there. In retirement he was able to enjoy his favorite pastimes of gardening and woodworking.

Blackie loved his God and his church. He faithfully served as an Elder at Liberty Church of Christ for numerous years. Often on Sundays you could find him leading the singing at the pulpit. His commitment and dedication to the Lord made him a role model for many.

Mr. Blackburn was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph C. and Esther Fannin Blackburn, sister; Rhea Harris, and brothers; James, Lawrence, and Joseph C. Blackburn, Jr. Blackie is survived by his wife of 63 years; Jean, his daughters; Linda Harris and husband Larry and Jenny Senter and husband Bob, sister; Ruby Blackburn Radney and husband Johnny, brother; Floyd Blackburn and wife Charlotte, grandchildren; Laura Harris Ressler and husband Richie, Leanne Harris Strickland and husband Jason, Lindsey Scoggins, Leslie Scoggins Gandy and husband Rob, Shelby Scoggins, and Clark Senter, great-grandchildren; Luke Ressler, and Logan and Lanie Strickland, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton on Thursday, July 5, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Liberty Church of Christ with interment to follow at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Pallbearers will be Tony Park, Daniel Balch, Phillip Strickhausen, Shannon Smith, Danny Balch and Ricky Strange. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Taylor, Bobby Rader, Robert Ward, Ken Coleman, Bob Parker, Clodis Cox and E.E. “Buster” Cost.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Liberty Church of Christ, Family Life Center, 3201 N. Main, Liberty, Texas 77575.

Stanley

Thelma Gene "Sunshine" Stanley, 86, of Liberty, died Monday July 2, 2012.

She was well liked and very outspoken. She had been involved with the Trinity Valley Exposition for many years running the various booths.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Stanley and son, James Dittmar.

She is survived by her daughters, Jennie Booket of Puerto Rico, Roberta Ferguson and husband Ron of Liberty; grandchildren, Tim Horacek of Guensberg, Switzerland, Shawn Knight of Liberty, Ian Vollert and wife Stephanie of Liberty, Amanda Ferguson of China, TX, Matthew Ferguson of Bay City, Michigan; 11 great grandchildren.

As her wishes, there will be no services of remembrance and she will be cremated.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Faith and Family Funeral Services 40847 Hwy 105E. Batson, Texas 77519 of Batson

Gonzalez

Juan Victor Castillo Gonzalez Jr., age 26, of Liberty, died suddenly Sunday, July 1, 2012.

Juan was born in Monclova, Mexico May 1, 1986 the son the Juan Victor Gonzalez Sr. and Ana Maria Gonzalez Garcia. Juan worked construction for Y Lumber Inc. and was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Adela Gonzalez Rangel.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, wife Dulce Castillo of Liberty, daughter Daniela Castillo Pena, son Jasiel Castilla Pena, step-son Josue Ibarra and daughter Amalinalli Castillo, sister Marcela Castillo and Anahi Castillo Gonzalez, maternal grandparents Maria Anita and Eugenio Gonzalez, parental grandfather Israel Castillo Pena, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Friday at Allison Funeral Service with a rosary service to be held at 7 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9AM Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church. .

Pratka

William Raymond (Billy) Pratka, 56, of Dayton died on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Liberty Health Care in Liberty. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 1, 2012 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Eastgate Catholic cemetery. A gathering of Billy's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the funeral home.

Billy was a native of Dayton. He attended Dayton ISD and worked for several years for Brown & Root. He also worked overseas doing seismograph work. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Eastgate. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Christine Podsednik Pratka; a brother, Jimmy Pratka.

Billy is survived by his sisters, Sylvia Ann Vyoral, Jeanette Walker and husband, Winfred, Evelyn Barton and husband, Jessie; brothers, Jerry F. Pratka and wife, Kay, Ronnie Pratka and wife, Carmen; several nieces, nephews and all of his friends at Liberty Health Care.

Tilton

Maxie Jean Tilton, age 80, of Dayton, died on June 30, 2012 in Baytown, TX.

Maxie was born August 17, 1931 in Alexander, LA, daughter of Charlie and Amelia Harrell. She attended Barbers Hill High School and was a member of Old River Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Maxie was preceded in death by her husband; Chris Tilton, brothers; L.C. Harrell, C.G. Harrell, Elton Harrell, sisters; Bertha Raymer and Geneva Thomas. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, sons; Michael Pete Malak and wife Linda of Cove, TX, Paul Tilton and wife Kathy of Wallisville, TX, daughter; Diana Hues and husband Roy of Dayton, TX, grandchildren; Vaelerie, Kimberly and Sara, and 3 great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 5pm to 8pm in the chapel at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX. Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10am at Palms cemetery in Dayton.

Chelette

Harold Emile Chelette, age 69 of Baytown, died at his residence in Baytown on June 30, 2012 with his loving family by his side. Harold was born July 2, 1942 in Crowley, LA, son of Emile and Zula Chelette.

He attended Crowley High School and was a maintenance specialist for Occidental Chemical and retired with 32 years of service. He was a member of Goose Creek Church of Christ and loved fishing on his off time.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Bob Morgan. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 42 years; Jean Chelette of Baytown, sons; Russell E. Chelette and wife Valerie of Brownwood, TX, James R. Chelette of Baytown, TX and Wendell B. Chelette of Baytown, brother; Kenneth Schexnider of Crowley, LA., and three grandchildren.

Services for Harold Emile Chelette will be Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11am in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX with visitation from 10am to 11am that same day. Interment will follow at Palms cemetery in Dayton.

Burnett

Dorothy B. Wells Burnett, 94, of Cleveland, died Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Cleveland.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Cleveland City cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Dorothy was born October 7, 1917 in New Caney, to parents; William P. and Julia B. Blocker Wells, a longtime resident of the Cleveland area, and a homemaker. She was a graduate and salutatorian of the India Grace High School of Coldspring and member of the Central Baptist Church. She also enjoyed crocheting, church activities, cooking, fishing, and the outdoors.

Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers: William E., R. D., Gerald O., Loyd N., and Floyd R. Wells. She is survived by her husband of 34 years: John R. Burnett of Shepherd, sons: Donald Ray Williamson and wife Loretta H. of Prairieville, LA and Larry Earl Williamson of Austin, grandchildren: Annette Leon, Shelly Renee Williamson, Christi Ann Jarreau, Russell Thomas Williamson, and Kathryn Michelle Rollman, great-grandchildren: Sofia Cedillo, Carissa Rollman, Scarlett Bingham, Ray and Evan Jarreau, and Autumn and Summer Leon, brothers: Lincoln Aubrey Wells of Cleveland and Leon Autrey Wells of Cleveland, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Central Baptist Church at 615 Plum Grove Rd, Cleveland, TX 77327.

Tanner

Donald Glenn Tanner, age 57, of Liberty died June 25, 2012 in Houston, TX with his loving family by his side.

Donald was born March 13, 1955 in Liberty, TX, son of Douglas Calvin and Una Mae Tanner. Donald was self-employed in the construction business and owner of Tanner Roofing. He loved his family, wood working and making people laugh.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 36 years, Rhonda Tanner, sons; Michael Tanner from Channelview, Brian Tanner of Dayton, daughter; Aimee Tanner of Dayton, sisters; Diane Giddins and husband Gary of Kenefick, Carolyn Earp and husband Danny of Dayton, Lessia Tanner of Dayton, nine grandchildren and a host of close relatives.

Services for Donald Glenn Tanner will be Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10am at the Bethel Assembly of God in Liberty. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday June 27, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm. Interment will be at Palms cemetery in Dayton, TX.

Collins

Angela Chaplin Collins, 39, of Dayton died at her residence on Friday, June 22, 2012. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.

A gathering of Angela's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 29th at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Angela was a native of Dayton and attended Goose Creek ISD. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jonathan Chaplin; grandparents, George and Elba Donnor, O.D. and Houstine Chaplin; aunt, Lorean Willmon, uncle David Gore. Angela loved being with her children and family.

Angela is survived by her husband, Ronnie Collins; son, Joseph Collins; daughters, Sarah Collins and Angela Collins all of Dayton; mother, Gloria Donnor Chaplin of Highlands; father, James Harvey Chaplin and wife, Sandy of Livingston; brothers, James Harvey Jr, and Thomas Jordan Chaplin of Highlands; sister-in-law, Renee Murphy and husband, Rod of North Carolina; uncle, Charles Donnor, Noel Chaplin and wife, Patsy of Little Rock; aunt, Linda Gore of Colleyville, TX. Virginia Christian and husband, David Meridian TX.; stepsister, Shari Istre of Highlands and a host of other family and friends.

Hicks

Beverly June Hicks, 76 of Dayton died on Monday, June 25, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

A gathering of Beverly's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 29th at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eugene Hicks and her parents. She was the office manager for Ken Hicks and Son Back Hole Service for over 35 years.

Beverly is survived by her sons, Robert Eugene Hicks, Ronald Hicks, Kevin Hicks, Brian Hicks and wife, Rae Ann; daughter, Diane Hicks; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Ernie Givens and wife, Judy; sister, Gladys Buza; and a host of other family and friends.

Burrell

Preston Burrell Sr., 82 of Liberty passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at East Houston Regional Medical Center in Houston with his family by his side.

He was a husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 30th at Olive Bethel Baptist Church in Hardin. Interment will follow Bingham cemetery in Hardin. A gathering of Preston's family and friends will be at the church from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday.

Preston was a native of Liberty and retired from Brown and Root after many of service. He was a member of Olive Bethel Baptist Church. He loved fishing, "traveling locally" and being with his family. Preston was preceded by his parents, and first wife, Beatrice; and three brothers.

Preston is survived by his wife, Velma Burrell; daughter, Jeneva Scott and husband, Don Jr.; sons, Preston Clifford Burrell Jr. and wife, Sandra, Dale Burrell; brother, George Burrell and wife, Joyce; grandchildren, Brandon Burrell, DePaul Burrell, Dion Scott, Cedrick Scott, Caleb and Destiny Burrell; two great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
