Ulkie

Shirley Murphy Ulkie, 69 of Dayton died Friday, June 22, 2012 surrounded by her family.

She was born June 12, 1943 in Kennedy, Texas to parents James and Goldie Abshire Murphy. Shirley had lived in Dayton for the past 48 years. She had worked for Dayton Independent School District for 40 years in food service as a manager. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, enjoyed cooking, gardening, and making ceramics. Shirley most of all loved her family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ulkie will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church with Father Michael Vu officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday evening with Rosary 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years: Louis John “Big John” Ulkie; sisters: Lounell Rasco and Alice Cleveland; also her nephew: Will Graves. She is survived by her daughter: Suzeanne Ulkie-Havard of Dayton; grandson: Kordale Havard of Dayton; granddaughter: Hope Havard of Dayton; sisters: Loretta Bell of Hardin, Debra Strawn of Hardin, Patsy O’Neill and husband Dale of Moss Hill, Mary Ann Ward and husband Bob of Baytown, Linda Remsing and husband Bob of Dayton, Janice O’Neill and husband Colin of Conroe and Kathy Brandon of Hardin; her brother: James E. Murphy and wife Mary of Huntsville; brother-in-law: Archie Ulkie and wife Patsy of Dayton, Pat White and wife Donna of Dayton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

White

James Lynn “Loner” White, 64 of Kenefick died peacefully at home Thursday, June 21, 2012 surrounded by his family.

He was born July 15, 1947 in Liberty, Texas to parents, Wayne Patrick and Gladys Mae Simmons White. He was a life long resident of Kenefick and attended Dayton High School. He was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God, and had worked for over 23 years for Croft Logging. He loved being with his family and friends and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and westerns.

Service for Mr. White will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Charles officiating. Visitations will be1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday before the service. Honorary pallbearers are Delbert Croft, Roy Croft, Butch Noack, Big Foot, Paul Noack, Renegade, Moon Runner and Bull Rider

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Curtis Delene White. He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Annie Nobles White of Kenefick; daughter: Helen “Shorty” King and husband Lynn of Dayton, son: James Patrick “Charlie Brown” White and wife Robin of Splendora; son: Kirt Patrick White and wife Cindy of Kenefick; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Norman White and wife Patsy of Kenefick and Gail White and wife Lynda of Kenefick; sister: Beverly Sackett and husband Jerry of Kenefick; brother-in-law: A.B. Brewer of Humble; sisters-in-law: Sandra Brewer of The Woodlands, and Mary Ann Thomas of Kenefick; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Clegg

Vivian Lavon Carraway Clegg, died Wednesday, June 17, 2012, in Houston, Texas. Vivian was born June 6, 1943 in Highlands, Texas, to her parents; Ollis John and Susie Johnson Carraway .

Graveside service for Mrs. Clegg will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 at Plantersville cemetery in Plantersville, Texas. Charles Thomas is officiating. Service is under the direction of Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.

Mrs. Clegg is survived by her sons: Ray Clegg and wife Patricia of Dayton; Daniel Maurice Clegg of Tomball; Lawrence Eric Clegg and Krystal of Coldspring; daughter: Deborah Annette Herrera of Rexburg, Idaho; brothers : Clarence Ollis Carraway; Cleon Perry Carraway of Baytown; sisters; Velma Dale Leach of Sacramento, CA and Glenda Susie Terrell; 13 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and sister Lilly Shirtz.

Bernard

A Mass of Christian Burial for James Oscar Bernard, Sr. “Jay”, 55, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Ames with the Reverend Father George Okaehialam, Celebrant with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty.

Jay began his life on September 21, 1956, born in Liberty, Texas, the second son of Jimmy Bernard and Josephine Arceneaux Bernard. He received his education in the public schools of Liberty graduating from Liberty High School.

Jay was baptized, received first communion and was confirmed at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames where he remained a faithful member all his life actively volunteering whenever needed.

He worked twenty plus years in the Chemical/Plastics Industry as an operator working for Diamond Shamrock (Occidental), Lubrizol and Huntsman. Later he found great joy in being a professional truck driver for Swift Transportation.

Jay is preceded in death by his father: Jimmy and one brother: Victor Glen Bernard.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother: Mrs. Josephine Arceneaux Bernard; his three children: James Oscar Bernard, Jr., Tawanna Bernard-Davis, and Jamie Bernard; all of Houston; lifelong friend and wife: Willie Mary Rollins Bernard; one brother: Anthony Bernard of Los Angeles, California and one sister: Donna Bernard-Basker of Pensacola, Florida; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 8 AM until time of service at the church. Rosary at 10 AM.

King

Laura Ann King, 56, of Dayton, died Friday, June 15, 2012, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Memorial services will be held at noon, Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Rural Shade Baptist Church in Tarkington Prairie with burial following at a later date. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Laura was born May 2, 1956 in San Diego, CA, to parents; Curtis Ray and Bonnie JoAnn Jackson King, a former resident of Louisiana, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 24 years. She was a homemaker, member of Rural Shade Baptist Church, and enjoyed embroidery, flowers, and most of all her cats.

Miss King was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brothers: Curtis “Wayne” King of Dayton and Alan Ray King of Nacogdoches, sister: Sharon Rae Hayes of LA, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Haecker

Madeline Louise Haecker, age 3 of Deerpark, TX went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2012 in Houston, TX.

Madeline was born in Houston, TX on June 25, 2008, daughter of Bill Haecker and Vanessa Streavel. She was a loving daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter. She will be missed by all.

Madeline leaves behind to cherish her memory, her parents, paternal grandparents; Bill and Connie Haecker of Onalaska, TX, maternal grandparents; Walter and Margaret Streavel of Channelview, TX, great-grandparents; Joe and Fern Heilman of Onalaska, TX and T.J. and Edie Simmons of Tarkington, TX, uncle; Paul Streavel of Clovis, NM and aunt; Aimee Haecker of Humble, TX.

Services for Madeline Louise Haecker will be Friday, June 22, 2012 at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main in Dayton, TX at 10am. Burial will follow at Ryan cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 5pm to 8pm at the chapel of the funeral home.

Johnson

Zayne Micheal Trance Johnson, infant son of Andrew Johnson and Ariel Renfrow, died on June 14, 2012 in Dayton, TX.

Zayne was born on March 2, 2012 in Cleveland, TX. His was a bright young child and will be missed by all.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date by the family. Services have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main, Dayton, TX.

Brown

Bonnie Pearl Brown 81 of Saratoga, died Friday June 15, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

A celebration of life will be held Monday June 18, 2012 at 10:00A.M. at The First Baptist Church of Saratoga, with Reverend Don Hinklin Reverend Earl Crawford and Reverend Frank Aragon officiating.

Serving as Pallbearers are Randy Brown, Aaron Brown, Andrew Brown, Jamie Saulters, Cullen Brown, Ben Burla.

Honorary pallbearers are Maurice Bledsoe, Gary Bledsoe, and Mark Hardin, interment will follow at The Old Hardin cemetery in Kountze.

The family will be receiving guest on Sunday June 17, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M, also at First Baptist church of Saratoga.

She was born in Trinity, Texas on November 29, 1930 to her parents Gordon Russell Shoemaker and Ruby Pearl Allen.

She was an homemaker and a member of House of Prayer church of Saratoga.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years Jessie Harris "Harry" Brown, daughter Deboroah Darlene Brown, and her parents.

Survivors are sons Harry James Brown and wife Christine of Saratoga, Don Harvey Brown and wife Charlotte of Saratoga, sisters June Monteau of Winnie, Marie Craddock of Lake Charles.

Grandchildren; Lisa Burla and husband Ben of Lumberton, Randy Brown and wife Janet, Aaron Brown and wife Anna all of Saratoga, Andrew Brown and wife Michelle of Beaumont. Great- grandchildren; Kayla Wilson and husband Leigh of Lumberton, Jamie Saulters of Votaw, Cullen Brown, Ethan Brown, Bradley Brown all of Saratoga, Caleb Brown, Cayden Brown, Mallorie Brown all of Saratoga, Talen Brown and Chase Strong both of Beaumont. Great great- grandchild; Lucy Wilson of Lumberton and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends. She was a wonderful mother grandmother and wife and most of all she was a christian woman who loved her family and her God.

Tanner

Dina Faline Tanner, age 52 of Dayton, went to be with the Lord on June 14, 2012 in Baytown, TX.

Dina was born September 15, 1959 in Wichita Falls, TX, daughter of Howard and Maryland Beck Ash. Dina attended Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City, OK and graduated in 1977. She was a housewife and lived in Dayton for the past fifteen years. Dina loved fishing, arts and crafts and riding her motorcycle.

Dina was preceded in death by her father, and step-father; Lowell Nelson. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband; Michael Tanner of Dayton, sons; Mark Tanner and wife Marie of Lawton, OK, Howard Tanner and wife Hannah of Beaufort, SC and Marshall Tanner of Wichita Falls, TX, daughter; Lena Linkinhoker and husband Louis of Dayton, TX, mother; Maryland Beck and one sister; Yvonne Byler and husband William of Oklahoma City, OK, and four grandchildren.

Services for Dina Faline Tanner will be Monday, June 18, 2012 at 10am at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main, Dayton, TX.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 5pm to 8pm in the chapel at the funeral home.

Cooley

Mildred Josephine “Dutch” Cooley age 91 died Thursday June 14, 2012 in Beaumont.

Dutch was born in China, Texas June 9, 1921 the daughter of the late Horace Grayson and Beulah Wharton Grayson. Dutch retired from Chambers County as the County Clerk, she also worked or Adult Probation and for Commissioner Sid Desormeaux. She last worked as an Ambassador for Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A member of the first Baptist of Anahuac, she also enjoyed shopping and her time at the beauty shop.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Emmett Cooley, a brother Horace “Shot” Grayson, sisters Lessie “Shorty” Purvis and Elaine Tenholder Bernard.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter Barbara A. Cooley Hawkins of Anahuac, granddaughter Debbie Johnson of Orange, great grandson Jordan Holland of Hemphill, great granddaughter Somer Hipsley, great-great grandsons Anthony and Raylan Hipsley.

A visitation will be held Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 5-8PM at Sterling Funeral Home 1201 S. Main Anahuac, Texas. A funeral service will be held 10AM Monday June 18, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Anahuac with burial to follow in Magnolia cemetery, Beaumont, Texas.

Turner

Funeral Service for Sinia Elizabeth Turner, 86, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Trinity Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Liberty with the Reverend Marvin O. Etheridge, officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty.

Children are a gift from God, On November 17, 1925, a gift by the name of Sinia Elizabeth was born to the Late Annie Mae Price and Johnnie Campbell. She lived in Cuero, Texas where she attended and graduated from Daule High School.

She was baptized at an early age at Church of God in Christ in Cuero, Texas. She later moved to Liberty and in 1959 she united with Trinity Valley Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until death. She served in the Mission, she sang in the choir, participated in Sunday School and Prayer Meeting.

In 1959 she married Thomas Allen Turner and to this union was born one child, Loretta Elizabeth Turner. Sinia attended cosmetology school in Beaumont. As a licensed beautician she owned and operated Sinia’s Beauty Shop for 67 years. Mrs. Turner passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Magnolia Place Nursing Center in Liberty.

Sinia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, William, Louis T, Earnest and Johnny C. Campbell, two sisters, Johnnie Ree Sharp and Sallie Jane Weathers.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter; Loretta Turner, one son-in-law: Azee Caldwell Jr., one brother: Culberson Campbell of Cuero, three sisters; Georgia Braxton Loften of Ames, Luvenia Woodley of Houston and Frankie Hudson-Burton of Atlanta Georgia; four grandchildren, one great grandchildren; extended family Mr. and Mrs. Azee Caldwell Sr.; Special friends: Claudette Fields, Patricia Chargois; God Sisters: Bennie Lee Wells and Bea Ferguson and a host of nieces, nephews other family and friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 9 AM until time of service at the church.

Kile

Coy Dillon Kile, 78, of Batson, died Monday June 11, 2012 at M.D.

Anderson Hospital in Houston. He was born November 15, 1933 in Provensal, LA. He retired as a project engineer from Bechtel Company. He was a member of West End Baptist Church of Saratoga. He loved gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, and tending to his fish pond.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Laura Kile of Batson; children, Danny Kile of Batson, Stacy Kile and wife Paula of Hutto, TX, Donna Lechman and husband Robert of Carlsbad, CA; sister, Pat Dennis and husband Maury of College Station; grandchildren, Mackenzie Connell, Chandler Kile, River Kile and Jessie Kile all of Hutto, TX.

His family will recieve friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday June16, 2012 at Faith and Family Funeral Service Chapel. A service of remembrance will be held Sunday June 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel, officiated by Reverend Bruce Crosby. Burial will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. Serving as pallbearers will be Chandler Kile, River Kile, James Smith, George Koch, Frank McDaniel and W.L. Holmes. Todd Wheeler is named as an honorary pallbearer.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 Hwy 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 OR (936) 336-2222.
