Johnson

John Brooks Johnson, 77, of Daisetta, died on May 11, 2012 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

John was born June 18, 1934 in Daisetta, TX, son of James and Beatrice Johnson. John attended Hull-Daisetta High School and then entered into the United States Marine in 1952, where he served his country until 1963. John was self-employed where he moved houses for over 30 years. He loved fishing and camping. John was a member of Central Baptist Church in Daisetta.

John was preceded in death by his parents, one son; John Brooks Johnson II, brothers; James Johnson, Riley Johnson, Roy Johnson and Dickie Johnson, sisters; Corrine Knight and Louise Hicks.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 57 years, Joyce Johnson, son; Scott Johnson, daughters; Carolyn Collins of Marshall, TX, Linda Murphy and husband Mark of Mont Belvieu, TX, and Sheila Johnson of Beach City, TX, one sister; Joyce Evelyn McCormick and husband James of Liberty, TX and one brother; Dwayne Johnson and wife Clara of Splendora, TX, 14 grandchildren and 23 grandchildren.

Services for John Brooks Johnson will be Monday, May 14th at 2pm at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main in Dayton, TX. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2pm on May 14th just prior to the service. Burial to follow at Guedry cemetery.

Anderson

Loriece Anderson, age 89, died Saturday May 12, 2012 at Fairy’s Landing.

Loriece was born September 10, 1922 in Batson the daughter of the late Walter Johnson and Eda Ammann Johnson. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, and dancing. She was the owner and operator of Hull Beauty Shop and was a secretary of the primary class of First Baptist Church of Hull.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her first husband William Elvis “Joe” Ferguson, second husband Parker Eugene Anderson, a sister Walterene Wolfington, a brother Billy Sherman Johnson and a step-son Kenneth Anderson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Sharon Parsons and husband Henry of Zavalla, son Elvis Ferguson and wife Sharon of Mont Belvieu, sisters Thelma Holloway of Willis, Lois Campbell of Onalaska, a brother Herman Johnson of Batson, step-son Jim Anderson and wife Linda of Hull. In addition she leaves nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Loriece will be held Sunday May 13, 2012 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N.Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services will be held Monday May 14, 2012 at 10AM in the funeral home with burial to follow in Guedry cemetery. .

Strempel

Martha Jane Strempel, 85, of Anahuac, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Arboretuim in Winnie. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Anahuac under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Martha's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 13th at the funeral home.

Martha was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Gilbert Sr. and Bill Strempel; parents, six sisters and one brother. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Anahauc. The Daughters Republic of Texas.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Janie Seidel and husband, Lou; sons, Bill G. Gilbert Jr., Tommy G. Gilbert Sr. and wife, Debra; grandchildren, Tommy Gilbert Jr., Danielle Gilbert, Shannon Gilbert, Chad Clark, Cory Gilbert, Thad LeNormand, Stacy LeNormand; great granddaughter, Hunter Bagent, Saige LeNormand.

Hollister

Tilman L. Hollister, 85, of Saratoga, died Tuesday May 8, 2012 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He was born December 21, 1926 in Goose Creek Texas, to his parents Bert and Elsie Walston Hollister. He retired in 1985 from his position as receiving clerk for Temple Inland. He has been a resident of Saratoga since 1928 and was a faithful member of First Assembly of God of Saratoga for 80 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sabra "Toby" Hulsey Hollister of Saratoga; daughters, Deborah Lynne Hollister of Saratoga, Donna Gayle Hollister Cazares and husband Daniel Cazares of Lumberton; grandchildren, Kelsey Sheridan Cazares and Korey Daniel Cazares of Lumberton; brother, Lynn E. Hollister and wife Ann Drake Hollister of Lumberton and families; sister, Betty J. Hollister McDuff and husband Reverend Colman McDuff and families of Downey, CA.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday May 10, 2012 at The First Assembly of God church of Saratoga. A service of celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2012; officiated by Reverend Jeff Blizzard and Reverend Jim Cryer. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mr. Hollister may be made to The First Assembly of God church building fund, P.O. Box 169, Saratoga, Texas, 77585. Pallbearers are Daniel Cazares, Brad Jordan, Bobby Gressett, Jim Ridge, Isaiah Cazares, David Cazares.

McGee

Bobby Joe McGee, 66, of Dayton, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Beaumont after an extended illness.

He was born July 18, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas to parents, George Washington and Eunice Howard McGee and had lived in this area since 1999. A previous resident of Wallisville, Bobby worked for Enterprise Production in Mont Belvieu as an electrician. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam on the USS Isle Royale AD-29 and assisted with Air America as a radioman after his discharge.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Houston National cemetery. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his father: George W. McGee and his father-in-law: John F. Haberland. He is survived by his wife of 32 years: Janice Haberland McGee of Dayton; son: Robert Haberland and wife Janet of Santee, CA; daughter: Kimberley Miller of Fort Worth; mother: Eunice Howard Carical of Fort Worth; brothers: George McGee and Mike McGee both of Fort Worth; mother-in-law: Joan Grain of England; six grandchildren; also numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family has request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Roberts

Funeral Service for Zack Roberts, Jr., 71, of Dayton, Texas, will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 2812 North Cleveland Street, Dayton, Reverend Emery Maxwell, Pastor, Reverend R. H. Gilmore, officiating with burial in Acie cemetery, Dayton, under the direction of Wells Funeral Services, Liberty, Texas.

Born January 19, 1941 to the late Zack Roberts, Sr. and Adline Bradley Roberts, Zack departed this life on May 6, 2012 at East Houston Regional Medical Center, Houston, Texas. He attended Colbert High School where he met his wife, Rosemary Hebert. To this marriage was born two children. He was employed with Brown & Root for 35 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Bobbie Gene Roberts; one sister: Florida Ligons and son-in-law: James Jacobs.

Mr. Roberts leave to cherish his memory his wife: Rosemary Roberts; two daughters: Lisa Jacobs of Beaumont, TX and Amanda Pointer of Bossier City, LA.; one brother: Wilfred Roberts of Dayton; three sisters: Dora Golbert and Georgia Clark, both of Houston and Betty Seals of Henderson, Nevada; Godson: Edgar Hubert of Dayton; two aunts; Dorothy Mae Sears, of LaMarque, and Anne Mae Young, of Dayton; his mother-in-law: Agnes Payne; five grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9 AM until time of service.

Blalock

Syrilda V. Blalock, 71, of Liberty, died on May 7, 2012 in Liberty, TX.

Syrilda was born November 11, 1940 in Kenefick, TX, daughter of Verlon and Ida Mae Moore. Syrilda was a housewife and attended Kenefick Baptist Church.

Syrilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Lee Blalock, and one brother; Jessie Moore. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, one sister; Yvonne Howard and husband Hugh, brothers; Vernon Moore Jr and wife Ida and Larry Moore and wife DeAnn, three nieces and two nephews.

Arraignments are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX. A private burial will held at a later date.

McCellon

Vivian McCellon, 59, of Huntsville, passed away at her residence.

She was a loving, mother and grandmother.

Graveside services will be 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Palms Memorial Park under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Payonk

Frank Payonk Jr., 39, of Dayton, passed away at his residence with his family by his side. He was a loving husband, brother, son-in-law, uncle and friend.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Baptist Church in Dayton under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Frank was a native of Dayton and attend Dayton High School. He loved welding, working on cars, fishing, being with family and friends. Frank will be missed by everyone who knew him, and his best friends, RuRu and Lilbit. Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene Botkin Payonk.

Frank is survived by his wife, Andrea Reed Payonk; father Frank Payonk Sr.; sister, Lucinda Dillon; nieces, Kayla and Megan; nephew, Zachary; mother-in-law, Jana Reed; brothers-in-law, Randy and James Reed; and a host of other family and friends.

Green

James H. “Jimmy” Green, Jr., 59, of Houston, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the Revival Center Church of God at 585 FM 3459 in Onalaska with burial following at the Pace Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens in Cleveland. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the Revival Center Church of God in Onalaska. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Jimmy was born December 20, 1952 in West Palm Beach, FL, to parents; James H., Sr. and Edith N. Martin Green, a former resident of Cleveland, and has resided in Houston for the past ten years. He was a graduate of the Klein High School class of 1971, a hot shot driver for Madden Bolt, member of Lakewood Church, and enjoyed church activities and gardening.

Mr. Green is survived by his wife of eight years: Maribel Tuddao Green of Houston, sons: James “Mike” Green and wife Chlee of Cleveland and Brent Green of Conroe, parents: James H., Sr. and Edith N. Martin Green of Onalaska, sister: Judy L. Bass of Houston, brother: Perry G. Green and wife Tammi of Houston, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Barber

Kelly Lynn Barber, 47, of Mont Belvieu, died on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at San Jacinto Methodist Rehab. in Baytown.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 6, 2012.

Kelly was preceded in death by her aunt, Elsie Barber, grandmother, Lucille Barber and stepmother, Barbara Barber.

Kelly is survived by her mother, Donnis Muskiet; father, Clayton Barber; sisters, Pamela Edge and husband, Anthony, Donna Anderson and husband, Marcus; brother, Jimmy Tomlinson and wife, Karina; nieces, Markki Thibodeaux and husband, David; Kendal Philips; nephews, Colby Barber, Kane and Colton Anderson and a host of other family and friends.

Donations may be made to Sterling Funeral Home in Kelly's name.

Scheetz

Doris Mae Haegele Scheetz, 87, of Kenefick, died on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Kenefick Southern Baptist Church in Kenefick. Grave side services will be in Fairfield, IL. in Knootz cemetery under the direction of Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne, IL on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. A gathering of Doris's family and friends will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the church.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harold William Scheetz; son, Robert Eugene Scheetz. She was a member of Kenefick Southern Baptist Church. She was also a former member of the Liberty Art League.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Sue (Suzie) Huffman and husband, Daniel Sr. of Stanley, North Carolina, Linda Kaye Tate and husband, Jaymie of Kenefick, Peggy Scheetz McClain and husband, Kevin Sr. of Pearland, TX.; brother, Elmer Eugene Haegele; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

Whitener

Staci Leigh Whitener, 24, of Baytown, died at her residence on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Frank Biles officiating. Interment will be at a later date. A gathering of Staci's family and friends will be from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Staci was born in Houston. She attended Barbers Hill ISD.

Staci is survived by her parents, David and Julie Walker Whitener; daughter, Callysta Jade Bourque; son, Cohen David Bolton; uncles, Tim Walker, Dan Walker, Jim Walker and their families; cousins, Karry and Neil Hess, Arlene and Randy Stroud, Tina and Bruce Flowers and their family; and a host of other family and friends.

Herman

Russell Reid Herman of Anahuac was born January 5, 1913 in San Antonio, Texas and passed away May 1, 2012, at the age of 99 years and three months.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredinand and Minnie Herman, wife, Aline, sisters, Ethyle, Louise, Grace, Marguerite; brothers, Fred, Herbert and Milton Herman. His ancestors, the William Bloodgood family came to Texas with Austin's original group to settle near Cedar Bayou, Texas on a grant they received title to in 1824.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery with military honors. A gathering of Russell's family will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time.

He is survived by his daughter, Marlyn and husband Paul L. Rice,; two grandsons, Stuart Lee Rice and wife, Melissa, Stephen Reid Rice and wife, Andrea; three grandchildren, Taylor Reid Rice, Madison Leigh Rice and Nicholas Reid Rice. He is also survived by his best friend, Lillian Hargraves, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Russell graduated from Anahuac High School in 1931 as salutatorian. He graduated from Lamar Jr. College and attended Texas University.

Russell was an Episcopalian and member of Trinity Church in Anahuac and a 60 year plus member of the American Legion Post 104 in Anahuac, Texas. In World War II, he served in the Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. He saw combat action in North Africa, Sicily and made the invasion at Normandy on June 6, 1944. He saw further action in France, Belgium and Germany with the 9th Division. He also received the Legion of Merit from the French government. He was retired from Brown and Root Shipyard as a painter foreman. His main passion in life was fishing.

Pallbearers will be son-in-law, Paul Rice, grandson, Stuart and Stephen Rice, great grandson, Taylor and Nicholas Rice, Dave Wilcox, Bill Tinnerman and Carroll Wilborn. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 104.
