Hancock

Isaac Luther Hancock, 92, of Batson, passed away at his home Monday March 12, 2012.

He served his country during WWII by proudly serving in the U.S. Navy where he spent 40 months in the Pacific Theater. He was a Third Degree Mason .He was a co-founder of the West Hardin Water District. He retired from Phillips Petroleum after 43 years of service .He bought land in Batson in 1962 and retired in Batson in 1980. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and he also enjoyed riding his John Deere Gator.

He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Morris Hancock.

He is survived by his sons, Luther Lynn Hancock and wife Barbara of Alvin and John Leslie Hancock and wife Sherry of Batson; sister, Nadine Myers of Clarendon; grandchildren, Lynn Hancock, Jr., Brandye Hancock, Jason Hancock, Kristen White; great grandchildren, Baleigh, Lauren, Kaleigh, Colt and Hylie.

His family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 13, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Batson. A graveside service will be held Wednesday March 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Guedry cemetery, in Batson, officiated by Reverend Ken Davis.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lynn Hancock, Jr., Jason Hancock, Joe Bob White, Larry Mosley, Raymond Vanya and Butch Hart.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847, Hwy 105 E., Batson, TX, 77519, (936)262-2100 or (936)336-2222.

Thamm

Amanda Lynn Thamm, 37, of Dayton, died March 10, 2012.

Amanda, known to her friends as Mandy, was born Nov. 5, 1974 in Dayton, Texas. She is lovingly survived by her children, Jason & Nick Walters and Alyissa Thamm; by parents, Nancy Jorgenson and Fred Ian Thamm; by sister, Crystal Gail Turner & husband, Chris; and brother, Fred Allen Thamm; by grandmother's, Betty Thamm and Roberta Ainsworth; as well as by other family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 3-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Carter Funeral Chapel with services starting at 7:00 p.m.

Collins

Brandon L. Collins, 25, of Vidor died Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Vidor.

A native of Liberty, TX, he was a short time resident of Vidor. He was a machinist helper for National Oil Well.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Monday, March 12, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Home.

Brandon is survived by his mother Carol Doland and brothers Steven Collins of Vidor, Michael and Jason Collins of San Antonio, TX and his Grandmother Maxine Bingham Chandler of Liberty, TX. along with Cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Michael Richardson Collins of Liberty, TX. Williamson

Daril Henry Williamson, Sr., age 90, died Saturday March 10, 2012 at his home.

Daril was born in SoSo, Mississippi September 24, 1921 the son of the late James Albert Williamson and Mary Josephine Ainsworth. Daril retired as a baker after working for Cookbook Bakery and later Sunbeam.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Sue Joyce McDaniel Williamson and his seven brothers and sisters. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Daril Henry Williamson Jr. of Hull, daughters Rebecca Goins of Houston and Brenda Castillo and her husband Paul of Hardin, and a step-son Michael Cruchelow of Pasadena. In addition he leaves eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 2PM Monday March 12, 2012 at Moss Hill cemetery, Moss Hill, Texas.

Allison Funeral Service 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Brown

Tammy Lynette Brown, 43, died Thursday March 8, 2012.

She loved the outdoors. She enjoyed hunting and fishing. Tammy will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Rose Anna Brown.

She is survived by her children, Anthony Brammer of Saratoga, Isaiah Stutts of Groves and Summer Stutts of Groves; siblings, Brenda Alpers and husband John of Trinity, Tommy Brown and wife Wendy of Saratoga; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel on Sunday March 11, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for Monday March 12. 2012 at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Mike Loftin. Burial will follow at Old Hardin cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lonnie Brown, Joshua Alpers, Calvin Brown, Don Brown, Anthony Brammer and Joel Alpers.

Cabello

Jesse Joseph Cabello, 24, died on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at his residence. He was a loving father, son, brother, nephew and uncle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at St. Joseph the Catholic Worker in Dayton with Reverend Michael Long Vu, S.V.D. celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in Palms Memorial Park In Dayton. A gathering of Jesse's family and fiends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the funeral home.

Jesse was preceded in death by his grandfather, PePaw Cabello and uncle Joseph Cabello. Jesse attended St. Joseph the Catholic Worker Catholic Church. He loved kids and playing the guitar. He was the life of the party. He attended Dayton High School and graduated from Central Columbia High School in Bloomburgs, PA.

Jesse is survived by his father Juan Cabello Sr. and wife, Kathy of Dayton; mother, Suzanne Onisick and husband, Joe of Bloomburgs, PA.; son, Landon Cabello of Bloomburgs, PA.; brother, Juan Cabello Jr,; sister, Eloisa McCorquodale and husband, Christian; step-brothers, Cliff Wells, Austin and Brandon Onisick; step-sister, Ashley Wells; grandmother, Maria Cabello; grandparents, Jesse Hopper Jr and Rosemary Hopper, Joseph Onisick and Ruth Onisick, Aunts, Rosalinda Rombs and husband, Richard, Anabell Cabello and Jimmy Hutchins, Helen Cabello, Suzie Seitz and husband Kerry; uncles, Rick Cabello, Jesse Hopper III and wife Lisa; great-great aunt, Jean Fitzgerald, and a host a other family and friends.

Crisman

Travis Wayne Crisman, Sr., 44, of Saratoga, died Tuesday March 7, 2012.

A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday March 13, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Marysee in Moss Hill TX. with Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth and Reverend Carlton Bailey officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jake Hudspeth, Steven Hatcher, Adam Cree, l Blaine Trahan, Thomas Wood, John T. Greek, Josh Hudspeth, Jude Hudspeth and Travis Wayne Crisman Jr.

Interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket TX.

The family will be receiving friends on Monday March 12, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Mt. Calvary Church.

A native of Liberty TX, he had lived in the Saratoga and the surrounding area for most of his life and was owner of Crisman Construction Company of Saratoga.

He was preceded in death by father Jack Crisman brother James Crisman, grandparents Everett and Virgie Morse.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer Bailey Crisman of Saratoga, son Travis Wayne Crisman Jr of Saratoga. Daughters Ashley Crisman Hughes and husband Cody of Batson, Makayla Breann Crisman and Ashlynn Fayth Crisman both of Saratoga, Mother, Alice Carouthers, Step-father Bennie Ray Carouthers of Batson, Father and Mother in law Reverend Carlton and Diana Bailey of Moss, Hill. Brother David Crisman of Saratoga and sister Julie Crisman Nance of Tyler. Grandchildren Cody, Brody, and Chase Hughes all of Batson.

William “Bill” Bradley Grimes

William Bradley Grimes, 29, of Batson, TX, passed away in an automobile accident Wednesday morning, March 7, 2012.

Bill was Owner and operator of Grimes Construction, Bill worked in the oil fields as a heavy equipment operator doing what he and his dad loved most - being privileged enough to work with the ones he called Friends. Bill grew up in Batson and has lived in Batson all of his life; attending school at West Hardin I.S.D. Bill is preceded in death by his father Brad Grimes. He is survived by his wife, Tara Robinson-Grimes & daughter Maci Elizabeth of Batson, mother Betty Yust Grimes of Batson, and two brothers Daryl Wyatt of Denver, Colorado and Colin Wyatt, wife Elena & son Nikolai, of Austin, Texas. Funeral service for Bill Grimes will held Monday March 12, 2012 at 2; 00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Batson with Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth officiating interment will follow at Jordan cemetery in Batson. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. also at First Baptist church of Batson.

Lewis

Alvin James (A.J.) Lewis, 84, of Baytown, died on March 8, 2012 in Baytown, TX. He was born in Temple, TX, on December 3, 1927 son of Johnny and Clara Lewis. He graduated from Baylor University with a BBA. A.J. was a member of Central Baptist Church in Baytown for over fifty years and a deacon since 1999. He also served as a member of the Knob Creek Masonic Lodge #401 in Temple, TX. A.J. retired from Exxon after thirty-four years of service. He also served in the National Guard for eleven years.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Melissa Lynn Lewis; sisters, Margie Lagrone and Eva Johnson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of fifty-nine years Patricia Parrish Lewis of Baytown; son James Parrish Lewis and wife Cindy of Baytown; daughter Lynn Bernhagen and husband Tim of Canyon Lake; sister-in-law Dolores Rice of Baytown; grandchildren Brooke and Eric Bernhagen and Lorin and Morgan Lewis.

The family would like to thank the church family and neighbors along with the doctors and staff at San Jacinto Hospital in Baytown for their compassion, care and prayers. Services for Alvin James (A.J.) Lewis will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101 North Travis in Liberty, TX with burial to follow at Fairlawn cemetery on FM 563 in Liberty. Pastor Mark Wells will be officiating.

Smith

Claud Royce Smith, age 52, of Spring, Texas, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Houston Northwest Medical Center. He was born July 16, 1959 in Baytown, Texas.

He leave behind to cherished his memories his loving mother Ruby R. Rhames; daughters Heather M. Grayson, Susan N. Smtih; sons Claud R. Smith Jr. and wife Karla, Joshua I. Smtih; sisters Cathy L. Contreras, Kay Hunt and husband William; grandchildren Jeremy Smith, Hunter Smith, Alyssa Smith, Zachary Smith, and Shelby Crow; numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and treasured friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Rev. Betty Watson will preside over funeral services being held Friday, March 9, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.

Gray

Reverend R.T. Gray, 82, of Wallisville, Texas, died on Monday March 5, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on January 7, 1930 to Denny Gray and Drucilla Sistrunk in Call, Texas and had lived in Wallisville, for ten years and was a retired Boilermaker and was also a United Pentecostal Church Minister with over forty years in the ministry, and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean conflict. He had pastored in Hemphill, Texas, Vinton Louisiana, Florine Louisiana, Dayton, Texas High Island, Texas and Gueydan Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his wife and helpmate Martha Joyce Bean Gray his brothers Reverend R.B. Gray sisters Louise Roach, Katherine Glawson, Dorothy Wilson and son Paul Thomas Gray.

Survivors are daughter Martha and Reverend Anton Smikal of Port Arthur. Sons Reverend Richard Gray and wife Mona of Livingston, Texas Reverend Peter Gray and wife Liz of Paris Texas, Jessie Gray and wife Chelesa of Beaumont, Texas Reverend Rodney Gray and wife Joy of Dayton, Texas Michael Gray and wife Crystal of Old River Winfree Texas. Grandchildren sixteen and great- grandchildren nine and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A homegoing service will be held on Saturday March 10, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at The Port Acres United Pentecostal Church located at 2725 Hwy 365 Port Acres Texas 77640. Texas District United Pentecostal Church Superintendent Reverend Danny Russo, Reverend Melvin Gray, Reverend Dale Carpenter, and Reverend Barry Rankin will be officiating.

A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Trout creek cemetery in Call Texas. The family will be receiving friends on Friday March 9, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. also at The Port Acres United Pentecostal Church. Pallbearers are Justin Gray Jody Gray, Reverend Caleb "Bubba" Gray, Marque Gray, Reverend Andrew Smikal, Reverend James Lindsey, Christopher Gray. Griffin

Sterling Ebby Griffin, Jr., age 82, died Monday March 5, 2012 in Beaumont, Texas.

Sterling was born in Batson, Texas April 23, 1929 the son of the late Sterling Ebby Griffin Sr. and Agnes Marie Banks Griffin. Sterling was an athlete growing up excelling in both football and golf. He received a scholarship to play football at Lamar and then transferred on to Baylor. After college he became a PGA Professional, becoming the Golf Pro at El Dorado Golf Club now Redstone, H & H Guest Ranch, and El Campo Golf Club. During this time he also set a course record at Magnolia Ridge Country Club. Sterling went on to open his own business, Sterling Griffin Insurance Agency in Dayton where he and his wife ran the business for twenty-five years. Finally before retiring he and his wife opened the Golf Outpost in Dayton, a golf driving range and professional lesson center. Sterling also had many other talents, writing songs for Micky Gilley and other artists.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as a son Glen Alan Griffin.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Doris Mae Newman Griffin of Liberty, daughter Laura Ann Pickett and her husband Carl of Liberty, sons Jimmy Dan Griffin and wife Sherry of Homestead, FL, Robert Wayne Griffin and his wife Cheryl of Moss Hill, step-daughter Sonya Gasdia and husband Richard of Katy, step-son Willis Ray Mancil Jr and wife Charlotte of Chicago, brother Henry Lee Griffin and wife Juanita of Liberty, sister Helen Joyce Griffin of El Campo, sister Alice Marie Goar and husband Bill of Itasca, brother James Ray Griffin and wife Mary Jane of Lillian, grandchildren, Jimmy Wayne Griffin, Jeffery Alan Griffin, Blake Aaron Griffin, Hannah Marie Griffin, Logan Pickett, Lyndsey Pickett, and Cori Pickett. In addition he leaves seven step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday March 8, 2012 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home 2PM Friday March 9, 2012 with internment to follow in Cooke Memorial cemetery.
