Heince Hauffman Thomas, 72, of Honey Island, died Wednesday January 25, 2012 at Harbor Hospital in Beaumont.

A native of Port Arthur he had lived in Honey Island since 1957 and was an electrician for Bethlehem Steel in Beaumont and also an avid wood worker. He was preceded in death by his wife Stella Ann Thomas, son Otie Lawrence Thomas Sr. Survivors are his sons Ricky Thomas Sr. of Evadale, Forrest Thomas and wife Patricia of Bay City, Ricky Thomas Jr. of Honey Island.

Daughter Gwynn Walters and husband Randy of Honey Island, brothers David LeBlanc of Michigan, Andrew Leblanc of Texas, sister Toya Swearingen of Vidor. Grandchildren 16 and Great-grandchildren 10. A service of remembrance will be held Saturday January 28, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. at First Assembly of God church of Kountze with Reverend Talmadge Stanley and Billie LeWelling officiating interment to follow at Jordan cemetery in Honey Island. Pallbearers are Ricky Thomas Sr. Woody Thomas, Odie Thomas, Cody Thomas, James Lowe Jr. Ricky Thomas Jr. The family will be receiving friends on Friday January 27, 2012 from 5:00 P.M until 9:00 P.M. also at the church.

Fowler

Brenda Fowler, 60, of Saratoga, died Wednesday January 25, 2012 at her residence in Saratoga.

A service of remembrance will be held Sunday January 29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at The Roadside Memorial Baptist Church of Saratoga with Reverend Keith Pennington and Reverend Nathan Hendrix officiating.

Interment will follow at the Old Hardin cemetery in Kountze. Pallbearers are Hudie Ener, Gerald Ener, Wyley Ener, Dan Walters, Timmy Walters, Riley Marcontel, Melvin Walters Dave-Bo Freeman.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday January 28, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the church.

A native of Kountze Brenda had lived in Saratoga most of her life and was an homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her grandson James Sangwin Jr, and her parents.

Survivors are her husband Raymond Fowler of Saratoga, sons Ray Fowler and wife Christinia of Saratoga.

Daughters Becky Sangwin and husband James of Saratoga, Casey Crabb and husband Cary of Kountze, Kimberly Carver and fiance' Randy of Honey Island, Beverly Cartlidge and husband Alan of Saratoga.

Brother John L."Bubba" Wilson of Saratoga, sisters Mary Ener of Yellowpine, Linda Freeman of Saratoga.

Grandchildren ten, and three step-grandchildren and her pet companion "Sweet Pea"

Somers

Velma Mae Street Somers, age 83, died Sunday January 22, 2012 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown. Velma was born July 12, 1928 in Cold Spring, the daughter of the late Alvin Street and Lurah Allen Street.

Velma enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, sewing and painting. She worked with her late husband Martin J. Somers as a clerk at Voygts Variety for many years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Wayne Somers and wife Diane of Princeton, New Jersey and Alan Somers and his wife Tori of Pleasanton, Texas. In addition she leaves seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Velma will be held Thursday January 26, 2012 from 5-7PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held 2PM Friday January 27, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Davis to officiate.

Disney

Steven K. Disney, age 61, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Clinton.

Steven attended Hinds Creek Baptist Church. Steven had many friends, enjoyed music, mostly Elvis Presley, and loved to travel with his sister Mary.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jason and Mary Hutton Disney; sister, Gloria Williams.

Steven is survived by his brother, Charles Hill and wife Wanda of Clinton; sisters, Mary Robbins and Sharlene Mc Cutcheon of Clinton, TN., Sharron Martin and JoAnn Hoffeld of Dayton, TX; special nieces, Stephanie Fregia, Angie and Lisa McCutcheon all of Dayton, TX and many other nieces and nephews; special cousins, Clark and Carol Courtney, Jack Taylor, Carolyn Brenyard and Estell and Bobby Nelson; special friends: Janet Elliott, Logan Elliott, Kelsey Elliott and Helena.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 29, 2012. Interment will be at a later date in Grandview Memorial Park in Pasadena.

Burchfield

Harold Burchfield, age 73, of Daisetta, TX, died on January 24, 2012. He was born September 11, 1938 in Fastrill, TX, to Hubert and Eula Burchfield.

He spent his early years in Diboll, TX, before eventually relocating to Daisetta. Harold served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Natural Gas and Pipeline Company of America after 30 plus years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he never met a stranger. He was a member and Deacon of Central Baptist Church of Daisetta for 36 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sherian Burchfield of Daisetta; son, James Burchfield and wife Cindy of Daisetta; four grandchildren, Patrick, Timothy, Casey and Hayden; two great grandchildren, Kellan and Kamdyn; one sister, Carolyn Ellison and husband Delbert of Diboll, TX; many numerous nieces and nephews. Harold will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

His family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday January 27, 2012 at Central Baptist Church of Daisetta. A service of remembrance will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 28, 2012 at Central Baptist Church of Daisetta, officiated by Pastor Bill Fabriguze. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Garden of Memories cemetery in Lufkin, TX, officiated by Pastor Blackie Cranford.

Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Taylor, Timothy Taylor, Cody Mayon, Betty Johnson, Johnny Downs and David Hickman. The honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Central Baptist Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Faith and Family Funeral Services, Hwy 105 E, Batson, TX, 77519, (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Cassita

Pearlie B. Green Cassita, 86, of Dayton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at the Heritage Villa Nursing Home in Dayton.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Acie cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Services are entrusted to Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Pearlie was born March 23, 1925 in Dayton, to parents; Manual and Phylis Roberts Green and has resided in Dayton throughout her life. She was a homemaker, member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, attended Ark of Life Church, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening.

Mrs. Cassita was preceded in death by her father: Manual Green, mother: Phylis Roberts Edwards, stepfather: Horace Edwards, husband: Earlie B. Cassita, sisters: Etta Bea Green, Bessie Briggs, and Alberta York, and brothers: Calvin, David, and Otis Green. She is survived by her nephew: Bennie Curtis of Dayton, niece: Cecil McDonald of Odessa, MO, special niece-in-law: Lois M. Redmon of Dayton, Godchildren: Norma Jean Johnson, Melodye Lopez, Robert Elliott, Sr., Jennifer Curtis, and Charles King, Sr., sisters-in-law: Mary Elliott, Margie Green, and Bernice Green, and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to thank Virginia Johnson and the staff of Heritage Villa Nursing Home, for the care given to Mrs. Cassita.

Berry

Wanda Yvonne McIntyre Berry, 87, of San Marcus, died on Tuesday, January 23, 2012 with her family at her side. She was born to Thelma and Floyd McIntyre December 16, 1924 in Orange Field, Texas and was the oldest daughter of nine children.

In 1943 she graduated from White Castle High School in Louisiana and moved to Orange, Texas where she met her beloved husband Thomas Berry. They lived most of their married lives in Dayton, Texas where they raised their three children. Wanda moved to San Marcus, Texas in 2005 where she lived next to her oldest daughter.

Wanda was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dayton, Texas and a member of Eastern Star where she reached the level of Worthy Matron. Wanda had a talent for painting and won many prized ribbons at art shows. She was former president and member of Women’s Club, Stitch and Chatter and the Art League. She also did ceramics which she shared with her family and friends. She enjoyed fishing and spent time with her fishing buddies at their lake house. Wanda also loved to travel and toured much of the United States with her parents and later her sister-in-law, Connie Berry.

Wanda and Tommy loved to dance, entertain friends and spend time with their family at home. They spent many years working together in the Western Auto they owned in Dayton. Wanda was the adored mother of three children and she and Tommy were very active in their schools and church activities. Wanda spent countless hours cooking for the many teenage friends that gathered at the Berry house on any given weekend. She was a second “Mom” to so many of her children’s friends.

Tommy died in 1979 after 36 years of marriage and Wanda remained in Dayton. Of all the things she like to do including gardening, playing cards and drinking coffee with the neighbors, she most loved spending time with her grandchildren. She adored them and was not ashamed to brag about them every chance she got.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: C. Thomas Berry, her brothers, Floyd McIntyre, Jerry McIntyre, her sisters, Bonnie Thiac, Carmen Yost, and Joyce Beadle. She is survived by her children: Kay Berry Willoughby and husband Mike of San Marcus; Ken Berry and wife D-Ann of Liberty; Karen Berry Hyman and husband Wayne of Jersey Village; five grandchildren: Chris Berry and wife Brooke of Houston, Kendall Tucker of Houston, Wendi Mostyn of Wimberly, Ellen Willoughby of Austin, Jill Ashby and husband Norm of Georgetown; great-grandchildren: Jack Michael Mostyn, Mollie Elizabeth Mostyn, Cooper Michael Ashby, Annie Kay Ashby, Lindsay Drummond, and Lucy Jacq Holt; her brothers: Jack Wynn McIntyre of Louisiana, Ted Lee McIntyre & wife Ruth of Georgia, and James Wayne McIntyre & wife Bobbie of Louisiana; special friend: Frances Paré of Dayton; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Central Texas Medical Center Hospice Care, 1315 IH 35 North, San Marcus, Texas 78666 or Alzheimer’s Association, 3429 Executive Center Dr. Suite 100, Austin, Texas 78731.

Services for Wanda will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton with interment to follow at Magnolia Park cemetery, Dayton. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time Thursday morning.

Cheadle

Lois Eagan Cheadle, 91, of Sulphur, LA, died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the Coldspring United Methodist Church with burial following at the Oakwood cemetery in Coldspring. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Coldspring.

Lois was born August 19, 1920 in Pawhuska, OK, to parents; William L. and Margaret Crowley Eagan, a former resident of Coldspring, and has resided in Louisiana for the past eight years. She was a high school graduate, a former paralegal during WW II, member and former Sunday school teacher of the Coldspring United Methodist Church, and a lone girl scout. She also enjoyed dancing, music, crafts, and reading.

Mrs. Cheadle was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years: John Cheadle, daughter: Elizabeth A. “Betty” Wright, parents: William L. and Margaret Crowley Eagan, and brother: Frank Otis Eagan. She is survived by her daughters: Mary Harrell and husband Frank of Lake Charles, LA and Sharon Sue Lyons and husband Kenneth, PhD. of Lebanon, NJ, grandchildren: Joyce Lynn Raymer, Col. Michael A. Wright, Maj. William C. Wright, Dr. Robert A. Wright, James P. Lyons, Anita C. Lyons, Maj. John L. Harrell, Dr. Brian R. Harrell and Kristen M. Harrell, great-grandchildren: Sgt. Devin Raymer, Joshua Raymer, Garrett Raymer, Braeden Wright, Michael Tyler Wright, Rachel Wright, Andrew John Harrell, and Paige Ava Harrell, great great-grandchild: Scout Molly Raymer, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the U.S.O., in Mrs. Cheadle’s name.

Thornton

Jeanne Dellis Thornton, 82, of Liberty, died on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Magnolia Place Health Care in Liberty. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandchildren, sister and friend.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mrs. Thornton was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Buck" Thornton, stepson, Jerry Thornton. She loved flowers and traveling. She was a member to the Order of Eastern Star.

Jeanne is survived by her sons, Michael Westbrook, Richard Westbrook and wife, Barbara; stepson, Kelly Thornton and wife Charlotte; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Frauenberger

Edna (Guidry) Frauenberger died peacefully on January 21, 2012. She was born in Lafayette Louisiana on November 4, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Olide Guidry. They moved to Texas in 1929 and settled in Daisetta.

She graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School. She loved sports and played four years of basketball, softball, volleyball and tennis and bowled for 32 years. She baked fruit cakes for 23 years. She was preceded in death by her husband (the love of her life) George Nelson Frauenberger of Raywood, Texas. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Olide Guidry of Daisetta, Texas. Her four brothers J.C. (Jim) Guidry of Sour Lake, Texas, Hillyed Guidry of Thibodeaux, Louisiana, Woodrow Guidry of Daisetta, Texas, and an infant baby brother of Daisetta, Texas. Two sisters, Betty Joe Mielsch of Houston, Texas, and an infant baby sister of Daisetta, Texas.

She is survived by her loving son, Richard Wayne (Ricky) Frauenberger the 1st and wife Linda of Sulphur Louisiana. Three grandsons, Richard Wayne Frauenberger the 2nd and wife Teri of Grapeland, Texas, Kevin Wayne Frauenberger and wife Pamela of Wortham, Texas, and Chris Frauenberger of Sulphur, Louisiana. Six great grandchildren, Lisa, Shelby, and Richard Wayne Frauenberger the 3rd of Grapeland, Texas and Kade, Kole, and Kenadi Frauenberger of Wortham, Texas. Two step daughters, Amy and Pete Richard of Sulphur, Louisiana and Amanda Heaton of Cornelleos, Oregon. Two step great grandchildren, Josh and Riley of Sulphur, Louisiana. Two sisters, Vivian Richard of Jennings, Louisiana, Elizabeth and Jabo Tywater of Alvin, Texas, many nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. We would like to extend our thanks to Shari Frank and Danielle Tywater (who were like daughters) for all their continued support in our time of need throughout the years.

Edna most recently belonged to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raywood, Texas and formerly attended and was married at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty, Texas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. David celebrate under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Rite of Committal will follow in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. A gathering of Edna’s family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday with a rosary recited at 6:30 P.M. in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

McManus

John Scott McManus, 56, of Wallisville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 24th at Middleton Memorial United Methodist Church, 2241 Wallisville-Liberty Road 77597 with Reverend Randy Carrion and J.D. O'Donell officiating under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Worthy cemetery in Liberty. A gathering of Scott's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Scott was born in Liberty on May 26, 1955 to the Late J.C. McManus and Beatrice Eddlemon McManus. Scott was a 1973 graduate of Anahuac High School and a faithful member of Middleton Memorial United Methodist Church, 2241 Wallisville-Liberty Road 77597.

He retired from Exxon Mobil Refinery after 36 years of service working at both Monroe City and Baytown. Scott enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and visiting with friends.

Scott leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 27 years, Debbie Turner McManus; children, Callie, Clint and Abby; brother, Charles McManus and wife, Brenda of Wallisville; sisters, Peggy Hill and husband, Sam of Anahuac, Donna Davis and husband, Howard of Liberty; in addition Scott leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and a host of additional family and friends.

All who knew Scott and loved him will sadly miss him. The family request in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Middleton Memorial United Methodist Church of Wallisville.

Morris

Karen Elaine Houk Morris, 63, of Baytown, died surrounded by her family, Thursday, January 19, 2012.

Karen was born June 17, 1948 in Cassville, Missouri to parents Raymond Dillenger Houk and Rosalie Opal Rowland Houk. She graduated from Exeter High School in Missouri and had lived in the Baytown and Dayton areas for the past 36 years where she worked for Goodwill. Karen loved her family especially the grandchildren and she enjoyed her coffee and shopping. Her family will remember her as the best Mom in the world and she will be missed by all who loved her.

Karen was preceded in death by her father and her son: Michael David Fields. She is survived by daughters: Miranda Morgan and husband Stephen of Dayton, Melanie Williams of Baytown, and Melissa Fields of Baytown; mother: Rosalie Hayes of Liberty; brothers: Tim Hayes and wife Terry of Liberty, Lonny Houk and wife Kay of Missouri, and Larry Houk of Missouri; sisters: Penny Ervin & husband Gordon of Odessa and Polly Carlisle and husband Joe of Missouri; grandchildren: Shane, Stephenie, Stephen, Isaiah, Quanisha, Alexander, and Hannah; also numerous other relatives and friends.
