Howard

Funeral Services for Wilhelmenia Howard, 54, of Killeen, will be 10:00 a.m. Friday on December 30, 2011 at Pershing Park Baptist Church in Killeen with Pastor Joda Weston officiating.

Ms. Howard died December 21, 2011 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She was a member of Pershing Park Baptist Church.

She was born in Frankfurt, Germany on September 5, 1957, the daughter of Ret. Command Sergeant Major Samuel and Lois Adams. She graduated from Heidelberg High School in Heidelberg Germany. Wilhelmenia attended the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, from which she received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. She went on to attend the University of Central Texas where she obtained a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. She has traveled throughout the State of Texas speaking on family violence.

Warden Wilhelmenia Howard began her employment with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division in September 1985. She was assigned to the Gatesville Unit, Gatesville Texas as an Associate Clinical Psychologist III. She was promoted to Assistant Warden at the Gatesville Unit, Gatesville, Texas in July 1993. In September 1994, she was named Senior Warden and opened the Nathaniel J. Neal Unit in Amarillo, Texas. She remained at the Neal Unit until March 1999, when she was assigned to the Price Daniel Unit in Snyder, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Tony Howard, Daddy Samuel Adams.

She is survived by her mother, Lois Adams of Killeen; sons, Horatio (Kendra) Young of Dayton and Kasey Young of Killeen; sister, Renata Adams of Killeen; brothers, Gregory Adams (Tammy) of Temple, Michael Adams of Irving, Andre Adams (Linda) of Round Rock; granddaughter, McKenzie Young (Dayton) and nieces, Charity Adams, Aaron Mathews, Kayla Smith.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pershing Park Baptist Church in Killeen on Thursday, December 29th. M.R. Smith Parlor for Funerals in Corsicana, Texas will be in charge of the arrangements.

Abshier

Mary Jean Jackson Abshier, 83, of Anahuac, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Anahuac under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Jackson cemetery in Double Bayou. A gathering of Mary's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the funeral home.

Mary Jean was a retired Librarian for Anahuac ISD. She attended Middleton Memorial Methodist Church in Wallisville. She loved feeding animals, raising flowers and being with her family. She was a member of the Daughter Republic of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Burt Jackson Sr. and wife, Jammie Louise Carr Jackson; grandson, Joshua Cooley.

Mary Jean is survived by her husband of 61 years, Fred Abshier; brother, James Burt Jackson Jr. and wife, Annita; daughters, Jean Abshier Forrest and husband Randy, Louise Pierson and husband, Windell, and Pat Cooley and husband, Mike; granddaughter, Kristin Payne and husband Clayton; grandson, Justin Cooley; great grandson, Bransen Payne and a host of other family and friends.

Hankamer

P.D. Hankamer, 70, of Hankamer died on Sunday, December 25, 2011 at her residence with her family by her side. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Anahuac with Reverend Randy Carrion officiating. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of P D's family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

P.D. was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Wayne Hankamer; father, Jim B. Marshall. She loved hooking and being with her family.

P.D. is survived by her daughter, Arlette Williams and husband, Randy of Hankamer; sons, John Hankamer and wife Brittany of Haslet, TX, Hank Hankamer and wife Becky of Conroe, TX; mother, Annie Faye Marshall of Anahuac; sister, Dorothy Cotman and husband Tom, brothers, Bill Marshall and wife, Charlotte, Johnny Marshall and wife Elizabeth; brothers-in-law, Daniel Hankamer and wife, Zelphia of Hankamer, Lester Hankamer and wife Ann of Hankamer; grandchildren, Marshall Hankamer, Jett Hankamer, Tish Hankamer, Hunter Havard, Graydon Hankamer, Garrett Hankamer, Maisen Hankamer, great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations to be made to the First United Methodist Church of Anahuac and Bayside Community Hospital in Anahuac.

Edwards

Funeral Service will be held for Wilbur Edwards, 86, of Liberty, Texas, at 1 PM on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Trinity Valley Baptist Church, Liberty, with the Reverend Richard A. Ayers, Officiating, burial in Houston National cemetery, Houston under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty.

Known to family and friends as “Fly” Wilbur was born in Liberty, November 29, 1925 to William Edwards and Ada Arline Edwards. He attended public school in Liberty. He joined the United States Navy and later moved to Los Angeles, CA where he lived over sixty years. He returned to Liberty in August of this year.

He passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.

Mr. Edwards leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Roger Edwards of Liberty, Michael Edwards of Dallas, and Steven Edwards of Inglewood, CA.; five daughters: Genell Paintsil of Liberty, LaTonya Edwards of Dallas, Cheryle Webb of Dallas, Pamela Carter of Los Angeles, and Sandra Green also of Los Angeles, CA; forty-one grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren, thirty great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law: Lola Martin of Dayton and a host of other family and friends.

Dove

Randolph T. “Randy” Dove, 55, of Mt. Pleasant, died, Monday, December 19, 2011, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2011, at the Magnolia Park, in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Randy was born September 9, 1956 in Germany, to parents; Billy Joe and Erika Hohn Dove, a former resident of North Shore, and has resided in Mt. Pleasant for the past 30 years. He was a graduate of the North Shore High School class of 1975, received his Bachelor’s Degree of Science and was a middleweight boxing champion at Stephen F. Austin University, was employed as a lab technician for Luminant at the Monticello steam power plant in Mt. Pleasant, and enjoyed sports, fishing, and his work.

Mr. Dove was preceded in death by his mother: Erika Hohn Dove. He is survived by his sons: Bradley T. Dove of Mt. Pleasant and Brent T. Dove of Mt. Pleasant, grandson: Slade M. Dove, father: Billy Joe Dove of Dayton, sister: Tina Carroll and husband Keith of Huffman, brother: Eric L. Dove and wife Connie of Deer Park, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Nelson

Silas William Nelson, 100, of Dayton, died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at home.

He was born April 27, 1911 in Stilson, Texas, the seventh of 10 children of Swedish immigrants, Carl and Anna Seaberg Nelson. Mr. Nelson was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he was a member of First United Methodist Church. After finishing the eighth grade, he began working on the family’s farm where he picked up skills as a machinery operator. He turned his heavy equipment skills into a lifelong career. Mr. Nelson was a dragline operator and dozer operator building canals for Dayton area farmers. He lived by honor and truth through God’s love serving as an example for all those who knew him.

Service for Mr. Nelson will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 24, 2011 at First United Methodist Church under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton. The family will receive friends Friday evening, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, five sisters and his wife of 45 years: Thelma Addington Nelson. He is survived by his daughters, Sylvia Ramsey of Dayton, and Glenna Sue Floyd and husband Jim of Houston; his sons: Ron Nelson and wife Julia of Cleveland and Don Nelson and wife Virginia of Dayton; brother: James Nelson of Dayton; eleven grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, Dayton, Texas.

Rivon

Richard Rivon departed from this world on Sunday, December 18, 2011 in Raywood, Texas.

He entered into this world on December 7, 1941 in Anahuac, Texas to Leonard Rivon and Roxie Smith.

Richard graduated from Anahuac High School, he was employed at Barbers Hill High School for 35 years before retiring to become a full-time cowboy.

As a young boy Richard accepted Christ and was baptized at Bright Light Baptist Church in Bayshore, Texas. Richard was an active member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Raywood, Texas for the past eight years under the leadership of Pastor John Walker. He was an active member of the Anahuac Saltgrass Cowboy Association. Richard was an ambitious man, he was a man that looked beyond others faults and saw their needs and helped them. He was a very kind and loving man and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a true “COWBOY” to his heart. He was always helping the community and others in the community. Richard’s famous words were “We will make it work”. The word “No” was not in his vocabulary. Some of Richard’s main goals in life were to build Rivon’s Rodeo Arena and to give back to the community. Richard did accomplish this goal and fulfilled his dream to do so.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 31 years, Vernita Papillion Rivon, sons; Ted Rivon and wife Lisa, Charles Stovall and wife Teriyn and one daughter, Terri Nesbitt, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, sisters; Jeanette Nicholas, Lois Haskins (Delma), brothers; Leonard Rivon (Joann), David Rivon (Kalynn) and Raymond Rivon (Cora Lee).

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 5pm until 8pm at Allison Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11:00am at the Mount Rose Baptist Church, Liberty, Texas. Burial will follow immediately in the Rivon Family cemetery, in Anahuac, Texas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Shaffer

Keith Vernile Shaffer, age 89, died Friday December 16, 2011 at his home in Liberty.

Keith was born July 16, 1922 in Kinzua, PA, the son of the late Harold S. Shaffer and Hazel R. McAvoy Shaffer. He was a veteran of WWII he served in the US Army Air Corp. He last worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement, he worked prior for Humble Oil, Slover Lumber Co. and the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT. Keith received his BA degree from the University of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as a nephew David Shapiro.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory a sister Madelyn Shaffer of Liberty, niece Marilyn Ruth Baird and husband Jeff of Austin, grand nephews Bryce Teel and Alex Baird.

A graveside service will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas.

Simons

Roger Dale Simons, Sr., 62, of Huffman, died Sunday, December 18, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with graveside services at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Centerville cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Roger was born January 31, 1949 in Houston, to parents; Clifford Simons and Georgia Neal Farr, a former resident of Mt. Belvieu, and has resided in the Huffman area for the past three years. He was a graduate of the Northshore High School class of 1968, attended San Jacinto Community College, a retired furnace technician, and was a member of the Northshore Masonic Lodge #1353. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, his work, and especially spending time with his family.

Mr. Simons was preceded in death by his father: Clifford Simons, mother: Georgia Farr Grimet, grandson: Cayden Fry, sister: Lori Simons, and brothers: Kenny, Robert, and John Simons. He is survived by his wife: Shirley A. Potter Simons of Humble, daughters: Keli Thames and husband Robert of Dayton, Kim Harrison and husband Eddie of Huffman, and Laci Simons of Humble, sons: Roger Dale Simons, Jr. and wife Betty A. of Dayton and Cody Allen Fry and wife Lorry of Nacogdoches, sisters: Tanya Siarski of Houston and Cindy Kellebrew of Houston, brothers: Scott Simons of Houston, Roy Grimet of Spring, Steve Simons of Schulenburg, Chris Grimet of Houston, Wayne Grimet of Houston, Eugene Grimet of FL, and Tim Grimet of Houston, grandchildren: Kristin, Taylor, Presli, Morgan, Lauren, Layn, Kimber, Collin, Aniston, and Paxton, great-grandchildren: Trae, Gracelyn, and Arryn, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Conway

Mary Elizabeth Conway, 62, of Hardin, died Sunday December 18, 2011 at Harbor Hospice Care of Beaumont.

Mary was born May 27, 1949 in Ontario Canada, to Walter Wilfred Frewin and Lottie Idelous Bowman. She had lived in Hardin for fifty two years and was a member of the Hardin United Methodist Church. Mary was dedicated to the prayer chain, and taking care of her grandbabies. She was a loving christian woman who loved her family friends, her church family and especially her God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Walter Frewin Jr, and William Frewin.

Survivors are her daughter Kelley Fielder and husband Jesse of Hardin, brother Donnie Frewin and wife Carol of Hardin. Sister Beverly McCormick of Hornel New York. Grandchildren Jess Bowman Fielder and Katharine Elizabeth Fielder. A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday December 21, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at The Hardin United Methodist Church with Reverend Gideon Watson officiating. Cremation service to follow. Hinch

Lifelong educator, Dr. Nylds R. Hinch, completed his mission on December 17, 2011.

Dr. Hinch was born February 20, 1938 in Vidor, Texas to parents Emerson Hinch and Eleanor Stephenson Hinch. Nylds lived life with an external purpose and was ever mindful of God’s call.

Together with Mary Kelly Hinch, his wife of 51 years, Nylds served others. Their home was open to all who needed shelter and Nylds never turned his eye from one in need. In addition to his service as a teacher and principal, Nylds was a Scoutmaster, Sunday school teacher, prison ministry coordinator, maintenance coordinator for First Baptist Church of Liberty and a member of the Liberty Gideon Camp.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest brother, Lowell Hinch. Nylds is survived by his wife, Mary Kelly Hinch of Liberty; his daughters, Karmen McGee and husband, Russell of Bryan, Karen Adams of Liberty; his son, Wesley Hinch and wife Kimber of Liberty; brother, Marion “Doodle” Hinch of Toledo Bend; his grandchildren, Molly, Aaron, Betsy, Hanna, Hayley, Clayton, John Emerson, Matthew, and Dinah; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for the purchase of bibles to spread the gospel of Jesus through Liberty Gideon Camp No. 4215.9, P.O. Box 90, Liberty, Texas 77575.

Reeves

Clinney Morris Reeves, 48, of Dayton, died on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011.

He was a member of South Dayton Baptist Church. He loved to build things and work on his car. He was an outdoorsman, and he loved to hunt and fish. He was a very exciting person who lived life to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Reeves and James Ray Reeves; grandparents, Cecil and Sallie Moore, Willie Reeves Konecny and E.W. Reeves.

He is survived by his children, Stacey Salazar and husband Christopher of Liberty, Clinney Ray Reeves and companion Toshia Jacobson of Liberty; grandchildren, Christopher Salazar of Liberty; companion, Cheryl Whitehead of Dayton; parents, Jerrell and Martha Reeves of Dayton; brothers, Jerrelle (Tadpole) Reeves of Dayton, Kenneth Reeves of Dayton, Charlie Reeves and wife Tina of Anahuac, and Jason Reeves of Dayton; sisters, Linda Reeves of Dayton, Cathy Brown and husband Alvin of Dayton, Anita Brown and husband Jerry of Dayton, Patricia Nail and husband Tommy of Dayton, and Cindy Kirby and husband Joey of Cove.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Reeves cemetery in Old River-Winfree, with Pastor Ray Hines officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Reeves, William Brown, Timothy Brown, Curtis Brown, Jeffrey Brown, Kevin Brown and Michael Burns.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 Hwy 105 East, Batson, TX, 77519 (936) 262-2100 or (936) 336-2222.

Folk

Kyle James Folk, age 26 ,of Orange, Texas died in Beaumont, Texas on December 17, 2001 with his loving family by his side.

He was born to Kenneth Folk and Lana Langford in Childress, Texas on October 21, 1985. Kyle was a resident of Orangefield for sixteen years and went to school at Orangefield High School. Kyle worked in the construction business as a pipefitter. Kyle loved playing basketball and was an excellent basketball player. Kyle also enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as playing pool in tournaments. He loved drawing and being with friends as his daughter. Kyle was also a momma’s boy.

Kyle is survived by his parents and step-father Calvin Langford, one daughter Makenzie Folk of Orangefield, four sisters: Keisha Robinson and husband Casey of Hardin, Kelley Allison and husband David Jr of Liberty, Kristen Langford of Orange, and Jamie Folk of Illinois, four brothers: Justin Langford of Austin, Ryan Langford of Austin, Kevin Folk of Illinois and James Folk of Colorado Springs, fiancée Tara Vaughn of Orangefield, grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Holman of Hardin, Mr. and Mrs. M.L. DeShazo of Valleyview, Jo Franklin of Beaumont, Fred Folk of Childress and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday December 20, 2011 from 5-8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Liberty, Texas. Services will he held Wednesday December 21, 2001 at 10am at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel with burial to follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin, Texas.
