Laird

On May 27, 1945 Everett Delain Laird was born to Evert Roy Laird and Nellie Marie McEwin Laird.

He died on Tuesday November 29, 2011 at his residence in Thicket. Everett had lived in Thicket since 1982 and was a retired Lease Operator with Energy Oilfield services of Mt. Belvieu, and was a member of The First Assembly of God Church of Ramayor.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Rose Laird of Thicket, his daughters Hattie Criswell and husband Gary of Livingston, Rose Marie Laird and husband John of Rye, . Sons Terry and Michael Laird and grandchildren Emily, Mackenzie, Frederick, Brianna and Marie. Sisters Diane Hammond of Shepherd, Doris Denham and husband Gene of Saratoga, and Deloris Hatcher of Saratoga, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Father Evert Roy Laird and Mother Nellie Marie McEwin Laird, brother Delbert Laird. He was anxious to go home and wants all his family and friends to prepare to join him heaven is rejoicing as they welcome their newest angel.

A service of remembrance will be held Friday December 2, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Larry Jones officiating, interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday December 1, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

Eaton

Beulah J. Copeland Eaton, 76, of Tarkington Prairie, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2011, at the Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie, with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m., at the cemetery prior to services. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Beulah was born January 20, 1935 in Dayton, to parents; L. M. “Elmer” Copeland and Katy A. Burton, and has resided in the Tarkington Prairie area throughout most of her life. She was a homemaker, member of the Southline Baptist Church, and enjoyed making jewelry and ceramics, cooking, sewing, and fishing in her earlier years.

Mrs. Eaton was preceded in death by her father: L. M. “Elmer” Copeland, mother: Katy A. Copeland Keith, husband of 47 years: Richard H. “Monk” Eaton, Jr., brothers: L. B. Copeland and wife Joyce, Nelson Copeland and wife Dot, and Edward Copeland, and sister: Wylene Riggs and husband Ben. She is survived by her son: Richard H. Eaton, III and wife Karen of Buffalo, daughters: Sherilyn Khaligh of Spring, Karen O’Farrell and husband Jimmie of Humble, and Jennie Cheatham and husband John of Tarkington Prairie, brother: Billy Copeland and wife Nancy of Cleveland, sister-in-law: Lily Copeland of Liberty, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Sweet

Clyde Gene Sweet, age 53, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

He was born on May 11, 1958 in Houston, Texas. Clyde was a welder and was self-employed in the concrete and monument business. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a football fan and loved his “Fun Day Sunday Football” with family and friends along with dove hunting with his buddies. He will be remembered lovingly.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bennie Charles Sweet; grandparents, Charlie Adam Sweet and Bernice Sweet, Fred Purswell, Floren Thompson and Myrtle Lou Purswell Thompson; aunts, Jo Johnson and Velma Matthews; cousins, Dorinda Kelly and Mike Matthews.

He is survived by his wife, Jeri Sweet; sons, Jake Sweet and Ben Sweet; mother, Clyta Jean Purswell Carter and step-father, Robert A. Carter; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Richard and Ellen Davis; sister, Deborah Cunningham and husband, Robert; brothers, Charles Sweet, Floyd Carter and wife, Kathy, Bobby Carter; nephew, Trey Sweet; niece, Sharolett Combs, Leslie Davis, Tiffany Brill, and Cindy Davis; numerous other treasured family members and countless friends and buddies.

The family will welcome friends for visitation Tuesday, November 29, 2011, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Miller Thompson will preside over graveside services being held Wednesday, November 30, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Ryan cemetery. Clyde will be remembered and honored by many.

Sullenger

James R. Sullenger, 74, of Mountainair, NM, died on Sunday, November 27, 2011 in Bayside Community Hospital in Anahuac. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A memorial service will be at a later date in at First Baptist Church in Mountainair, NM. Jimmy was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Sullenger and son, Thomas Richard Sullenger; parents, Jens and Ann Sullenger.

Jimmy was a volunteer fireman for over 20 years with Mountainair Fire and Rescue where he served the last 6 years as a first responder. He held the office of Captain. Jimmy also held the office of Vice President of the New Mexico State Firemen Association. Jimmy was the loved bus driver for the Mountainair Public School activity clubs. He worked as a supervisor for the State of New Mexico Highway Department over 25 years.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 16 years, Wanda Sullenger; daughters, Tammy Zamora and husband Larry of Mountainair, NM. and Stacey Corey of Los Lunas, NM; sons, Thomas Corey and wife Kim of Wallisville, TX; grandchildren, Vincent, Victor, Alexandria, Garrett, and Brandon; great grandson, Damien; host of family, fellow fire fighters and friends.

Honorary Pall bearers will be the Mountainair Fire and Rescue Honor Guard Team.

Langford

Evie Evelyne Roy Langford, 87, of Anahuac, died on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Arboretum of Winnie. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in Anahuac cemetery under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A gathering of Evelyne's family and friends will be from 11:00 to 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 29th at the funeral home.

Evelyn was born in Black Jack, Texas to the late George Washington and Myrtie Cornelia (Ballow) Roy.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Atlee Howard Langford and five sisters. She loved quilting, crocheting and being out in the yard.

Evelyne is survived by her sons; Paul Eugene and Mable Langford of Anahuac, Don and Deborah Langford of Anahuac; five grandchildren; Paul Langford, Melinda Feild, Brittney Bahr, Dolores Benchella, and Daniel Langford; ten great grandchildren; Dwain, Jace, Justin, Alyssa, Jacob, Brinley, Aidan, Tristan, Hailey and Cady; brother, Gerald W. Roy of Wallisville.

Smith

Johnny Ray “Poppy” Smith, Sr., age 72, of Crosby, Texas, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 in Baytown, Texas.

Johnny was born August 19, 1939 in Lindale, Smith County, Texas to parents; Andrew Crook and Maggie Bostick Smith.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lloyd Smith.

Mr. Smith was a former Texas Ranger, a position in which he was extremely proud to have served. He was retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He had also served in the U.S. Navy. Johnny was an avid softball player and had played fastpitch softball in several leagues around Liberty County as an amazing pitcher. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Mr. Smith will be Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton, Texas.

Johnny is survived by his wife Paulette Smith of Crosby; daughter: Deanne Alexander of Austin; sons: Ray Smith and Craig Smith of Crosby; brothers William Smith of Lindale, Texas and Roy E. Smith of Tyler, Texas; sister: Dolly Neal of Tyler; Grandchildren Kristin, Kadi, and Kenady Smith and Clayton and Kirk Alexander; other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Semien

A Mass of Christian Burial for Olena Gridry Semien, 81, of Ames, Texas, will be held at 10 AM, Friday, November 25, 2011 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Ames with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery.

She was born to Eddie Guidry and Edolia Pollard Guidry on November 20, 1929 in Eunice, Louisiana. She passed away Friday, November 18, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Semien leaves to cherish her memory five sons: Eddie, James, Michael, Stanley, and Roland Semien; two daughters: Barbara Semien and Carolyn Winters; two sisters: Eva Owens and Ezora Fontenot; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the church from 8 AM until time of service.

Miksch

Thomas W. Miksch, 77, of Moss Hill, Texas died Thursday morning in the arms of his loving family.

Mr. Miksch was born on August 9, 1934, in Weimer, Texas to parents, Fred Miksch and Margaret Bruns Miksch, the youngest of three boys. Tom graduated from Waelder High School where he earned a basketball Scholarship to Texas A & I in Kingsville. He received his Bachelors of Education at Texas A & I and later his Masters from the Southwest Texas State Teachers College. He was a career educator, with a no-nonsense approach. Mr. Miksch retired after over 37 years in the field as teacher, coach, assistant principal and superintendant, serving in Stockdale, Aldine, Hardin, Crosby and Cy-Fair. He was a Past President of Liberty County Retired Teachers Association and a past member of the Board of Directors for the Teachers Credit Union. Mr. Miksch was a 3rd Degree Master Mason. As for Mr. Miksch hobbies, he loved to watch his grandchildren participate in their sporting events and any school functions.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2011, from 5pm until 8pm at Allison Funeral Service Chapel, Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services will be Monday, November 28, 2011, at 10am at Hardin United Methodist Church, Hardin, Texas with Gideon Watson officiating. Burial will be at 3pm at Waelder Masonic cemetery in Waelder, Texas.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leroy Miksch. He is survived by his wife, Jane Tumlinson Miksch, sons, Mark Miksch, Todd Miksch and wife Renea, daughter, Amy Fitzgerald and husband Phil, brother, Norman Miksch and wife Margie, grandchildren, Jennifer Stanley, Joshua Fitzgerald, Micah Miksch, Morgan Miksch, Maggie Miksch and Marley Miksch and one great-granddaughter, Sophie Jane Stanley.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas.

Jones

Ethel Earlene Jones, 62, of Batson, Texas went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2011 in Beaumont, Texas. Ethel was born on November 11, 1948 to William and Alicea Wingo.

Ethel was a member of the First Baptist Church in Batson where she was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed the Ladies Bible Studies.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Lee Wingo. She leaves behind to cherish her memories a husband of forty-four years, Harrell Jones of Batson, four daughters; Alicea Jones of Batson, Kimberly Shipp and husband Timothy of Batson, Amanda Jones-Patton of Batson and Jaclyn Quimby and husband Justin of Mont Belvieu, one sister Dianne Ramey and husband Patrick of Dennison, four grandchildren; Blake Shipp, Haley Shipp, Chase Patton and Aldan Jones and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ethel Earlene Jones will be held Saturday, November 26, 2001 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church in Batson with a visitation Friday, November 25, 2001 from 5pm till 8pm at the First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Guedry cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Fregia

Glen Allen Fregia, 40, of Daisetta, died Monday November 21, 2011 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday November 26, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services chapel with Reverend Larry Wyant and Robert Fregia officiating. interment will follow at Monroe -Fregia Family cemetery in Liberty.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

Glen was born in Liberty Texas, on March 14, 1971 to Freddy Fregia and Tinnie Able and lived in Liberty County for most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother Tinnie Inez Able Fregia and aunt Betty Able.

Survivors are Father Freddy Fregia and stepmother Shirley Fregia of Batson, companion Lugenia Smith Fregia of Daisetta, daughters Ashley Cassidy of Florida, Helen Kay Fregia of Brenham TX, stepdaughter Marissa Diana Ball also of Brenham. Brother Robert" Bubba" Fregia and wife Connie of Daisetta. Sisters Belinda Willett and husband Herman of Tennessee, Aline Ellezy of Liberty and many stepchildren. Grandchildren Kayden, Payden, JR. and Mason.

Serving as Pallbearers are Wendel Ener, Steven Robinson, T.J. Fregia, Jason Smith. Honorary Pallbearer is Robbie Nance.

Lloyd

Benny D. Lloyd, Sr., 54, of Channelview, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the East Houston Regional Medical Center in Houston.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2011, at the Moss Hill cemetery with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Benny was born May 19, 1957 in Houston, to parents; Charles G. and Imogene Wheeler Lloyd, a former resident of Hardin, and has resided in the Channelview area for the past 30 years. He attended the Hardin High School and C. E. King High School, was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, served in the U.S. Air Force, and was currently employed as a Log Auditor for Transwood Transportation in Baytown.

Mr. Lloyd was preceded in death by his mother: Imogene Wheeler Lloyd. He is survived by his sons: Benny D. Lloyd, Jr. and wife Kristina of Tampa, FL and Scotty Lynn Shelton and wife Stormy of Carthage, father: Charles G. Lloyd of Hardin, brother: Johnnie R. Lloyd and wife Sonia and three children of Channelview, one grandchild on the wayand numerous other relatives, and friends.

Lewis-Banks

Ethel M. Lewis-Banks (Putt), 64, of Hankamer, died Nov. 16, 2011.

Visitation will be Nov. 26, 2011, 9Am until Funeral 11AM at Sunlight M.B.C., 1016 Speights Rd., Pastor David L. Hudson, Hankamer, TX. Interment : Lewis cemetery, Hankamer, TX.

Putt, as she was affectionately called, was a loving, caring and God-fearing woman who shall greatly be missed and will forever live in our hearts.

Mourning her departure yet cherishing her memories are Son: Walter Lee Raymond Jr. (June), sister: Carolyn Speights, Dorothy Smith (Dorsey), Elizabeth Williams; brother: Julius Lewis (Nina); 4 grandchildren, Rickey Coates Jr., David Coates, Cody Johnson & Wyatt Raymond, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; relatives and friends.

Louis Meche

Adored father and Grandfather "PawPaw" died.

A resident of Devers, TX for 86 years. He was born to Gerrison & Euphime Meche in Amelia, TX June 21, 1919. Louis grew up and lived in the Beaumont area before joining the U. S. Army in 1942. He served in France & Germany in the 19th Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron Troop A as a French Interpreter and as a scout and driver of commanding officers. He was an expert rifleman, half track and armored car driver before being discharged in 1945. After the war, he returned to Texas and made his home in Devers. He was a retired workaholic, rice, catfish and cattle farmer who spent most of his time outside working with his hands, driving his tractor and inventing and fixing farm equipment.

When he wasn't doing that he was spending time with his family and friends on his front porch.

He is preceded in death by his infant son Murray Anthony Meche, parents, 6 sisters and 3 brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Vonita of Devers, TX. Daughter, Shelia Meche Ebarb and Son, Jerry Meche and wife Freddie of Devers, TX. Grandchildren: Megan Ebarb Gilliland and husband Chris of Huffman, TX, Josh Ebarb and wife Ashley of Lucas, TX, Ryan Ebarb of Austin, TX, Lindsay Meche of Austin, TX, Stephen Meche and fiancé Vanessa Waters of Devers, TX and Aubrey Meche and partner Sade Owens of Waco, TX. Great Grandchildren: Parker, Peyton and Teagan Ebarb, Zane Meche and Mali Waters, Kaleb and Kingston Meche. Step Grandchildren: Jennifer Armstrong, Lynn Armstrong, Jay Young, Nicole Sthram, Frank James and 10 step grandchildren. He was Godfather to Lisa Meche Savage of LA and Greg Hutto of the U.S. Army.

He also leaves behind a very special family to his heart Regina, Randy, Reagan and Ryan Snell of Hardin, TX and a host of nieces, nephews and friends which he loved so dearly.

A heartfelt Thank You to his doctors over the years and the staff of P.R.N. Medical and the staff of Texas Home Health Hospice. A special Thank You to his nurse Sheri Wager, Nurse Penny and Dr. Matthew Sooudi which has been a God send over the years.

Visitation will be held Tuesday November 22, 2011 from 5-8PM with a Rosary Service to be held at 7PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 10AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Liberty, Texas with burial to follow in Liberty Catholic cemetery.
