Etress

Ashley Ann Nicole Etress, 21, of Dayton, died Friday, November 18, 2011, at the Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral home in Dayton.

Ashley was born September 15, 1990 in Houston, to parents; Ralph Paul and Mintoria Dickey Etress, a former resident of LaPorte, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 18 years. She was an employee of Premiere Cinema in Baytown, Baptist by faith, and enjoyed music, fashion, and writing poetry.

Miss Etress was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather: Donald Ray Dickey, Sr. She is survived by her parents: Ralph Paul “Bama” and Mandy Dickey Etress of Dayton, sisters: Kayla Etress of Dayton and Lisa McKnight of Dayton, brother: Allen Jordan of San Francisco, maternal grandmother: Maude Lee Dickey of Dayton, paternal grandparents: Ernest and Polly Etress of Dayton, numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Roberts

Helen Ruth Boyett Roberts, 71, died on Nov. 16, 2001.

Born in Huntington, TX, on Jan. 29, 1940, she graduated for Robert E. Lee High School in 1958. She worked as a secretary at First Baptist Church in Dayton for 26 years where she was also a member.

After her retirement, she and her husband moved to the Old River area where she was an active member of Old River Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Sherman Roberts; parents, John B. and Mollie Boyett; father and mother-in-law, Lynn H. and Marjorie Roberts; infant son, Gary Lynn Roberts and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Helen Brown and husband James of Mt. Belvieu; son, Alan Wayne Roberts and wife Stephanie of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Susan Roshell and David Roberts, Melissa Lynn and Randy Aaron Brown; great granddaughters, Brooklyn Roshell Roberts and Makenzie Grace Roberts; sister, Edith Pace and brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Margie Boyett; uncle and aunt H.E. and Irene Sanders; aunt, Bernice Cox, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m., at Earthman Funeral home.

Funeral services will be on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., at old River Baptist Church, 12948 FM 1409 Dayton, TX 77535, with Brother Danny Biddy officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens cemetery in Baytown, TX.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Greg Boyett, Doug Boyett, Toby Boyett, Chuck Edge, Cody Edge and Jim Sullivan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road; Baytown, TX, (281) 422-8181.

Cocran

Robert Edward Cocran, 77, of Saratoga, died Friday November 18, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on May 18, 1934 in Houston Texas, to Ira Cocran and Evelyn Pruitt Cocran. Robert had lived in Saratoga for 15 years and was a retired Carpenter for Marek Brothers of Houston, and was also an U.S. Army veteran who served his country with pride. He is survived by his sons Gerald Cocran and wife Lisa of Raywood, William Oldall and wife Valena of Knoxville Tennessee, Gary Cocran and wife Malena of Corpus Christi, and Timothy Cocran and wife Cheryl of Virginia Beach Virginia. Daughter Leah Thompson of Sargeant Texas. Sisters Janie Wright and Sandy Bramer both of Lumberton, and Lucy Bess. Numerous grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Cremation service under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson.

Rodgers

Carol Ann Rodgers, 71, of Anahuac, died on Sunday, November 6, 2011 in Harvey, Louisiana. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 12, 2011. Interment will follow in Jackson cemetery in Double Bayou. A gathering of Carol's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

Carol loved being with her family and grandchildren. In her younger days she bowled a perfect 300. She loved the New Orleans Saints, cooking, sewing, canning and making candles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jameslee Rodgers; parents, Thomas Watson and Mary Kelly Kilpatrick; son, James Ray Rodgers. She was of the Baptist faith.

Carol is survived by her sons, Kenneth Rodgers and wife, Catherine, David Rodgers and wife, Dianne, Kevin Rodgers and wife Jenny; sister, Betty Adams; grandchildren, Patti Sue, Carol Ann, Ethan Cole, Elizabeth and Melissa; great- grandchildren, Haden, Marshall and Layne; and a host of other family and friends.

Boriths

Erik Brondell Boriths, 26, of Mt. Belvieu, died Sunday, November 13, 2011, in Crosby.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Cooke Memorial cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Erik was born May 28, 1985 in Bryan/College Station, to parents; Jorgen Brondell Boriths and Debbie Sue Henderson, and has resided in the Mt. Belvieu area throughout his life. He was a 2004 graduate of the Barbers Hill High School, attained numerous college accreditations, and was employed by Lyondell Basell as an operator. He also enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, watching football and baseball, but nothing more than spending time with his son.

Mr. Boriths was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Svend Brondell and Esther Christensen Boriths and stepfather: Jerald Faircloth. He is survived by his son: Landen Brondell Boriths of Mt. Belvieu, mother: Debbie S. Henderson Faircloth of Mt. Belvieu, father: Jorgen B. Boriths of Jacksonville, FL, brother: Josh McCreight and wife Holly of LaPorte, sister: Pernille Scavotto of CT, maternal grandparents: L.C. & Muriel Taylor of Old River, and numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Kincaid

Walter William Kincaid, Sr., 85, LaPorte, Texas, formerly of Batson Texas, died Saturday November 12, 2011 at Clearlake Regional Medical Center of Webster.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday November 17, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson, with Reverend Gideon Watson and Alvin Tomlinson officiating.

Interment will follow at The Guedry cemetery with military honors. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday November 16, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Chapel. Born in Batson Texas on May 16, 1926 Walter had lived in Batson for most of his life before moving to LaPorte. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and was retired as a Project Manager for H.B. Zachary of Houston, and was also a Texas A.M. graduate class of 1949 and a member of the Batson United Methodist Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Ruth Kincaid, son Stepson Joel Ellis. Survivors are his sons Walter William Kincaid Jr of LaPorte, and Bobby Jack Kincaid of Pasadena TX. Grandchildren five and Great Grandchildren twelve. Pallbearers are Rudy Alford, Hulan Rawlinson, David Payne, Bill Hardcastle, Bates Hobbs, Ray Mullins.

McClure

Ozie Elizabeth Chesher McClure, 96, of Victoria, died Thursday, November 10, 2011. She was born in Buffalo Springs, Texas to the late Annie and L.L. Chesher on March 4, 1915.

Ozie made her home at Twin Pines Nursing Home for the past 9 1/2 years, where she was known as, "The Dancing Lady."

Graveside services were on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in Anahuac cemetery under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Ozie is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert C. (Daddy Bob) McClure, Sr; daughter-in-law Joanne Otter McClure and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her son, Bobby McClure and wife, Gerry of Victoria. Grandchildren: Anna McClure Spencer and husband, Gary' Robert L. (Bebo) McClure and wife, Traci all of Pearland, Texas. Step-grandchildren, Tommy Sedam of Bay City, Texas, David Sedam of Houston, Texas, Leigh Ann Sedam of Buda, Texas and Hank Sedam of Chicago, Illinois. Great-grandchildren, Beth Black and husband, Byron of Pearland, Texas; Chris McClure, Dennis Twardowski and wife Cristen and Michael McClure all of Houston, Texas, step-grandson, Ryan Sedam on Mineral Wells, Texas, sister, Bessie Vestal and brother, George Chesher. She is also survived by 8 great-great grandchildren.

Pringle

Anita Jo (Dedi) White Pringle died at home in the comfort of her family on November 4, 2001.

She was born in Longview, Texas to Oscar Marvin White and Dora Faye White. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Faye White, loving husband Michael Osborn Pringle, daughter Rachel Michelle Pringle Phillips, son Michael Aaron Pringle, brother-in-law Doyle Johnston and sister-in-law Juanita White.

Dedi is survived by her son Marvin Pringle and daughter-in-law Jana, grandchildren Garrett Fennimore, Lance Pringle and Morgan Pringle. Sisters Linda Johnston, Donna Suitt and Sherri Easley and husband Paul, brothers Tony White and wife Susan, Terry White and wife Carolyn. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her faithful companion Micah.

Special thanks go to her very special nurses, Mary, Carla and Doris who made her last days more comfortable. Her courageous battle with cancer has ended but the love and memories live on. She will be missed by all.

Local arrangements were entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

McCreight

Wilmuth Eunice “Sister” Boothe McCreight, 91, died Tuesday, November 08, 2011 in Liberty.

She was born January 7, 1920 in Moss Hill, Texas to parents, Hobby Eli and Zellie Jacob Boothe. Mrs. McCreight was a lifelong resident of Moss Hill and a member of the Moss Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, chickens, sewing and cooking for her family.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with John E. Odom officiating. Interment to follow at Jacob-Boothe cemetery in Moss Hill. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCreight was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde McCreight, son Clyde Vernon McCreight, daughter Wanda McCreight; brothers Floyd and Winfred Boothe and sisters Molly Odom and Mildred Boothe. She is survived by her daughters: Pam Bruney and husband James of Moss Hill, and Winona Heinz and husband Bill of Old River; her son: Durwin McCreight and wife Christi of Moss Hill; brothers: Eddie Boothe of Batson, H. E. Boothe, Jr. of Moss Hill and Pete Boothe of Liberty; sisters: Irene Odom of Moss Hill; grandchildren: Bobby Hurst, Lauren Bruney, Charlene McCreight, David Crow, Marti Mannino, Jennifer Beall; great-grandchildren: Ashlee Hurst, Katlyne Hvamstad, Cody Hvamstad, Bree Ali Beall, Dakota Bourgeois, Harbor Bourgeois, Koral Bourgeois, Marina Bourgeois, and Noah Mannino; great great-grandchild: Clayton Mankins; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Godfrey

Funeral Service for Floyd Godfrey, 83, of Wallisville, TX, will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at St. John’s Baptist Church in Wallisville with burial in St John’s cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Services.

He died on Monday, November 7, 2011 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, Baytown.

Floyd is survived by his daughter; Clarrisa “Trish” Carrington, one brother: Clarence Godfrey, one sister Mary Godfrey, two grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the church from 10 AM until time of service.

Brooks

Funeral Service for Henry Lee Brooks, 71, of Raywood, TX was held at, 11 AM, on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Raywood with burial in Sacred Heart cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty. He was born November 25, 2011 to Henry and Clemence Garrett Brooks in Church Point, Louisiana. Henry passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Liberty-Dayton Hospital.

After the death of his mother, Henry lived with his mother’s twin sister Clementine and her husband Elton Batiste.

He leaves to cherish his memory his love of 40 years: Viola Bean Brooks; one daughter: Rebecca Brooks; five sons: Joseph Brooks, of Liberty. Alfred Brooks of Church Point, LA., Carl Bean, Jr., of San Antonio, TX., Donald Bean of Raywood, Darrell Bean of Baytown; sisters: Elrose Giles of Beaumont, Josephine Synague of Beaumont, Linda Brooks, Ethel Young and Mary Ann Green, all of Church Point, LA.; twelve grandchildren. There are three sisters with the Batiste family: Gladie Corrier, Maudry Handy and Mary Duplechain, all of Church Point; one brother: Elton Batiste, of Denver, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents; five sisters and three brothers.

Null

Gloria Estella Null, 84, died Monday, November 7, 2011 in Hewitt, Texas.

Gloria was blessed with grace, beauty, and strength. Many times she said her greatest accomplishments in life were her children and grandchildren and she adored them with her whole heart. She is forever rejoined with the love of her life and husband of 64 years, Woodrow.

Services for Mrs. Null will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2011 at Hardin Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Gideon Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin. Visitation will be Sunday evening 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Many friends and family are left behind to cherish Gloria’s memory: son, Wendell Null and wife, Deborah, of Dayton; daughter, Lawanna Turner and husband, Ken, of Waco; granddaughter, Sarah Null-Gill and husband, Timmy of Pearland; grandson, Shane Neal and wife, Lauren, of Houston; her little brother and best friend whom she loved dearly, C.L. Null, Jr. and wife Patsy, of Huntsville, Texas. Gloria truly loved and was loved by many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

Gloria’s family wishes to thank all the special people who had a part in her care, showing gentleness and respect for her and her family, Providence Hospice and the caregivers at Senior Care of Hewitt who became her family she loved very much. For the love and prayers given to her children and grandchildren by the special people who are in their lives daily, the family says thank you.

Thornton

Elmer Ray Thornton, age 77, died Monday November 7, 2011 in Liberty.

Elmer was born in Groveton, Texas May 19, 1934 the son of the late Delbert Thornton and Pearl Campbell Thornton. Elmer enjoyed everything outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He worked for numerous years for Standco Industries as a machinist. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister Robbie Eloise Brooks Lockhart. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a sister Thelma Faye Toups of Cleveland and a brother Carl Louis Brooks of Houston. In addition he leaves numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Cremation services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas.

Scroggins

Melvin Scroggins, 72, of Old Snake River, died Sunday November 6, 2011 at his residence.

Melvin was born on June 7, 1939 in Woodsbrough TX, to Buford Melvin Scroggins Sr and Perry Lee Anders Scroggins. He had lived in Old Snake River community for thirty-six years. and was a retired pipefitter with local Union#211 of Houston and a U.S. Airfoce veteran. Survivors are his wife Mary Beth Scroggins of Old Snake River, sons Randy and Tammy, Whoppy, Michael, J.W. and Christy. Daughters are Mary and Tom and Dee Doll also survived are 2 brothers and 1 sister. Grandchildren are Stephanie, Jodie, Tina Jessica, Mark, Mikey, T.J., Kurt, "Taylor Number 1". Great Grandchildren are Taylor, Kaitlyn, Josee, Sage, Jana, Kaylee, Kennedy, Sky, Travis, "Trav", Jace, Justin, Zane. There will be a service of remembrance at the graveside on Thursday November 10, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at The Scroggins Family cemetery located on the Scroggins property at 702 CR 2573 Old Snake River Community.

Jordan

J. B. Jordan, 81, of Batson, died Sunday November 6, 2011 in Trinity TX. J.B. was born in Batson TX, on November 7, 1929 to his parents Brunce Jordan and Johnnie Bishop Jordan.

He had lived in Batson most of his life and was a retired pipefitter with Local Pipefitters Union # 195 in Nederland TX, and was also a U.S. Air force veteran.

J.B. was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Jordan, stepmother Edna Jordan, his parents Brunce and Johnnie Bishop Jordan.

Daughters Melanie Jordan Williams and Ramona Ener.

Sisters JoAnn Enloe, Mildred Norris, Mary Campbell and half-brother Delbert Ryan.

Survivors are his son Michael Jordan and wife Belinda of Trinity, daughters Brenda Patton and husband Michael of Moss Hill, Barbara Ann Jordan of Trinity, Debra Castillo and husband Brian of Bennett Iowa, Rachel Wilkerson and husband Bobby of Rush Springs OK, Rebecca Massey and husband Robert of Trinity. Brother George Allen Ryan of Palestine TX. Sisters are Ophelia King of Port Neches, Patricia Fredrickson of Saratoga, Ruby Lee Alpers of Cleveland. Grandchildren: 14 and Great Grandchildren: 14. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday November 10, 2011 at 10:00A.M. at First Baptist Church of Batson with Reverend Jim Parrish officiating, interment will follow at Oilfield cemetery in Saratoga. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday November 9, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. also at the church. Serving as Pallbearers are Jon Patton, Aaron Jordan, Patrick Castillo, Daren Jordan, Joshua Jordan, Brunce Alpers. Honorary pallbearer is Devon Walker
