Walters

A Mass of Christian Burial for Grace Walters will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Ames, Texas at 10:00 A.M., with the Rev. Father George Okeahialam, M.S.P. as celebrant with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery.

A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, she was a homemaker. A faithful member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also affiliated with the Willing Workers and served as secretary for the Moon Glow Club. She died at Liberty Health Care Center, Liberty on Tuesday, July 12, 2011.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church at 4:00 PM. Rosary at 7:00 PM.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter: Mary Agnes and five brothers.

Mrs. Walters leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 66 years: Cleveland F Walters, Sr.; of Ames, Texas; five sons: Larry Walters, Robert Walters, John Walter, Cleveland Walters Jr., all of Ames, Texas and Arthur Walters, of Houston; two daughters: Lela Arrington and Peggy Patterson, both of Ames; three sisters: Rose Ethel Richard, Nora Lee Carmon, and Betty Gordwin, all of Houston; thirty-two grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Arrangements entrusted to Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, TX.

Loria

Bradley “Brad” James Loria, 46, of Dayton, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 in Houston after a brief illness.

He was born January 20, 1965 in Houston, Texas, to parents, Frank James and Marie Gardner Loria. He was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Dayton High School in 1983 and attended San Jacinto Community College. He was a member of the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church and had worked as a supervisor for Lyondell-Basell in Channelview for the past 20 years. Brad will be well remembered for his laughter and love of life. He was a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with Derek and Courtni. Brad enjoyed riding his bike, playing the guitar, and hanging out with close friends.

Services for Brad will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jay Lewis Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at Pace Stancil Funeral Home.

Brad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S.D. Gardner and his father, Frank James Loria. He is survived by his son: Derek E. Loria of Dayton and Derek’s sister Cortni Drew of Humble; his mother: Marie Gardner Kanoy and husband Bruce of Kenefick; his brothers: Randy Loria and wife Kitty of Dayton, Kenny Loria and wife Shellie of Baytown, Troy Loria and Dana of Baytown; his sister: Suzy Holt and husband Keith of Baytown; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Henscey

Amy Leigh Britt Henscey, 27, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Liberty, Texas.

She was born October 11, 1983 in Little Rock, Arkansas to parents, Thomas M. and Hattie C. Tinsley Britt. Amy had lived in Texas for the past 14 years and attended Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena. She enjoyed being outdoors with her family and friends and she loved writing poetry. Amy was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother who will be truly missed by her family and will always be in their hearts.

A memorial service for Amy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles M. Hester, Riegelwood, North Carolina, officiating.

Amy was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Scott Britt and grandparents, Thomas Mercer Britt, Martha Young Tinsley and Henry Tella Tinsley. She is survived by her husband: James “Jamie” P. Henscey, Jr. of Dayton; three children: Kathryn Robbins of Friendswood, Savannah and Hunter Henscey of Dayton; her parents: Tommy and Hattie Britt of Crosby; her grandmother: Martha Britt of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; her sister: Marisa Clawson & husband Scott of Pearland; her brothers: Thomas Britt, III and wife Amanda of Paris, Arkansas, and Justin Bell and wife Jasmine of Friendswood; her nieces and nephews: Johnny Bell, Scott, Emily, and Michelle Clawson; Eric Britto, Kiya and Hunter Britt; also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and a host of friends

Zaruba

Albert Ray "Rat" Zaruba, 76, of San Antonio, TX, died Thursday July 7, 2011 at Saint Luke Baptist Hospital, in San Antonio after a brief illness.

Al was born December 17, 1934 in Dayton, to parents Frank and Mary Silhavy Zaruba and has resided in Dayton, Liberty, Batson, Orange, Littleton, Colorado, Crystal Beach, TX and San Antonio. He was an Air Force veteran having served from 1953 to 1957 in various locations.

Funeral services will be held at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio at 4:00PM, Sunday, July 10, 2011 with visitation before the services.

A Memorial will be held for Mr. Zaruba at the Community Church in Orange, Texas on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 with Visitation at 300PM and service at 400PM. The Church is located on 3400 MLK drive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosemary Carouthers. He is survived by his wife Martha, 4 sons, Stephen, Robin, Mike and Bruce and a daughter, Rhonda. Brothers, Frank "BO" of Temple and John of Hamilton and numerous relatives and dear friends.

Jefferson

Theresa Ann Levine Jefferson, 68, of Mt. Belvieu, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the Eagle Heights Fellowship at 14120 HWY 146, Dayton, TX (Mt. Belvieu), with burial following at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Theresa was born January 10, 1943 in Galveston, to parents; Carlton and Bertha Anderson Levine, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Mt. Belvieu area for the past 15 years. She was a graduate of the Central High School class of 1962, a retired secretary, and member of the Eagle Heights Fellowship. She also enjoyed gardening, horses, putting together photo albums, and will be remembered for helping others.

Mrs. Jefferson was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Tracy Lynn Stovall, and brothers: Marion(Doris) and Ray Levine. She is survived by her husband of 15 years: Sam Jefferson of Mt. Belvieu, son: Troy Anthony Stovall and wife Sonya of MD, stepdaughters: Doreen Reynolds and husband Tim of OK, Margaret McFarland and husband Tom of IN, and Marilyn Larry and husband Winston of MO, stepson: Robert Jefferson of PA, brothers: Lina “Bubba” Levine and partner Art of CA, Charles Levine and wife Susan of Galveston, and Benny Anderson of Houston, grandchildren: Zora Lauren Stovall, Langston Anthony Stovall, Sydney Garrett, Jazmin Garrett, Christopher Larry, and Joshua Larry, her four-legged children: Boyer, T. J., Star, and Tiger, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Breaux

Irvin Francois Breaux, 79, of Huffman, died on June 29, 2011 in Memorial Herman Northeast Humble.

He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, July 9, 2011 in Huffman cemetery under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. A gathering of Irvin’s family and friends will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Friday July 8, 2011 at the funeral home.

Irvin was preceded in death by his brothers, Nemo Breaud Sr., Allen Breaud Sr., August Breaud Sr., and Harry Breaud Sr.; sister, May Ann Breaud Wedder. Irvin was a retired carpenter and loved playing the guitar.

Irvin is survived by his wife of 41 years, Audrey Breaux; children, Clarence Breaud, Shirley Breaud, Susan Breaud, Joyce Breaud, Irvin Breaud Jr., Robert Breaud, Richard Breaud, William Breaud, Donald Breaud, John Breaud, Alice Marie Breaux French, Thomas Breaux, Maria Breau GOnazles; best friend, Franicso; and a host of other family and friends.

Breaux

Audrey Louise Spakes Breaux, 62, of Huffman, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Huffman.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2011 in Huffman cemetery under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. A gathering of Audrey’s family and friends will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the funeral home.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Ivrin Breaux on June 29, 2011. Audrey is also preceded in death by her sister, Zoe Alice Black. She loved crocheting and being with her family.

Audrey is survived by her children, Alice Marie Breaux French, Thomas Breaux, Maria Breaux Gonzales; sisters, Sherran Flippin, and Robbie Whitely; brothers, Harry Jack Spakes and Ray Rust; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Snider

Sandra “Sissy” Elaine Snider, 56, of Rusk, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 in Houston, Texas.

She was born October 20, 1954 in Houston to parents, Samuel Elmer and Russie Ann Snider. She attended San Jacinto Community College and served in the U.S. Navy. Sissy was employed as a technician for NASA in Clear Lake.

She loved the beach, sailing, gardening, and woodworking.

A celebration of Sissy’s life was held by her family and friends. Arrangement were entrusted to Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her father and is survived by her mother, Russie A. Avant of Rusk; her sister: Kim A. Snider and Johnny R. Davis of Rusk; her brothers: Samuel Snider and Jana of Berryville, Randy A. Snider & Mignonne of Rusk, and Johnny R. Vestal and Lela of Alto; her aunt and uncle: Lela and Adolph Johnson of Liberty; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Corley

Charles William Corley Jr., 62, of Votaw, died Saturday July 2, 2011 at his residence.

A native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, had lived in the surrounding areas of Liberty, and Dayton for thirty-five years. Charles was a resident of Rye, Texas. Charles is preceded in death by his father Charles William Corley Sr. and brother George Corley. He is survived by his mother Sadie Vondell McRainey Corley, sons Danny Corley and Douglas Corley, both of Moselle Mississippi, Daughter Myan C. Largent of San Angelo Texas, Brothers: Bruce Corley of Muselle Mississippi, Scotty Corley of Arlington, Texas., Jimmy Corley of Chalmette Louisiana. Sisters:Eva Fuentes of Poydrus, Louisiana., Lydia Williams of Slidell, Louisiana., Leslie Corley of Chalmette, Louisiana., Mildred Corley of Chalmette, Louisiana., and one Grandchild. Cremation handled under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services.

Harrison

Ross Sterling Harrison, 81, of Votaw, passed away July 5, 2011. He was an avid outdoorsman.and he loved to hunt. He enjoyed reading Western Novels and watching old Western television programs. He was a Christian and enjoyed attending Votaw Worship Center. He loved his home life with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Jerimiah Harrison and Anna Dora Higginbotham Harrison; first wife, Mary Patsy Harrison; son, Lance Sterling Harrison; and all of his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Dorothy Harrison of Votaw; daughters, Dody Jean Denman of Humble, Debra Kay Harrison of LaPorte; grandchildren, Jeffery Wayne Denman, Kristie Jean Denman, Jon Sterling Denman, Robert Jayson Toudouze, Kristopher Cody Toudouze, Tabatha Nicole Crowder, Harrison Taylor Toudouze; and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Saturday July 9, 2011 at Votaw Worship Center, officiated by Pastor Jason Berry. Internment will be at Holly Grove cemetery at a later date.

Alford

Leonard Joe “Jobie” Alford, age 55 of Smyrna died Saturday. He was born in Liberty, Texas and was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Dale Alford. Mr. Alford was a graduate of Sam Houston State University and was a retired bass player for Collin Raye.

He is survived by his wife Terry Alford and son, Zachary of Smyrna; mother, Norma Joe Alford; brother, Alex Alford and sister, Melanie Alford all of Texas.

Hines

Funeral Services for T. D. Hines, 90, of Raywood, Texas, will be held Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at First Baptist Church, Devers, Texas with Pastor Harry McDaniel officiating.

Interment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery in Beaumont, Texas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Hines was born December 1, 1920 in Pineland, Texas. He went home to be with His Lord and Savior, July 3, 2011.

Survivors include his wife Helen Louise of Raywood, Texas; Sister Lois Oden of Pineland, Texas; Son-in-Law John Larry Hyden of Lufkin, Texas; three grandchildren: Dana Lynn Sommerfield of Dallas, Texas; Lisa Renee Cooper and husband Tony of Frisco, Texas; and John Micheal Hyden and wife Kara of Haughton, Louisiana; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

T. D. was preceded in death by his parents, John Elbert and Julia Hines; Three brothers, and daughter Helen Joye Hines Hyden of Lufkin, Texas.

Mr. Hines was a Naval WW II veteran. He was a machinist by trade and retired from Gulf Oil, after 39 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Devers, Texas for 56 years. He was a Mason and Past Master of Hull Lodge #1193 A.F. & A.M., Hull, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, be made to First Baptist Church of Devers, Texas or The Salvation Army.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Hyden, Tony Cooper, John Marc Cooper, Bryant Hyden, Garret Hyden and Jack Sommerfield.

Root

Joe Ann Hartel Root lifelong resident of Liberty County, died Sunday. She was 82.

Mrs. Root had battled cancer and died, at home, surrounded by her beloved family and friends.

Joe Ann Hartel was born on March 13, 1929 the daughter of Arthur John “Artie” Hartel, Jr., and Blanche Riviere Hartel and was the wife of J. D. Root.

Joe Ann Hartel Root was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.D. Root; her mother, Blanche Hartel; and her father, A.J. Hartel, Jr.

She is survived by her sister Mary Jane Ripkowski, her brother, A.J. Hartel, III; her four children, Judi Cross of Liberty; Suzy Schilling of Atlanta, Georgia; Joey Root of Oklahoma City; and Jay Root of Austin; her eleven grandchildren, Josh Cross of Batson; Sarah Woodruff of Liberty; and Hannah LaRive of Crosby; Joa Schenkel, Courtney Shilling, and Kelsey Schilling, all of Atlanta; Max, Mason and Mitchell Root of Oklahoma City; and Louise and Benjamin Root of Austin; and two great-grand-children, Tyler and Taylor LaRive of Crosby.

Visitation for Joe Ann will be held Tuesday July 5, 2011 from five o’clock till eight o’clock in the evening at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas, Rosary service to be held at Seven O’clock. A funeral mass will be celebrated ten o’clock in the morning Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church with burial to follow in Liberty Catholic cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Altar Society Bereavement Fund, C/O Rita Aalund, 152 Lone Oak, Liberty, Texas, 77575.
