Fregia

Verna Lee Fregia, 96, of Daisetta, passed away on May 30, 2011 at her home with her loving family by her side.

A visitation will be held from Noon until 2pm, Friday, June 3, 2011, at Central Baptist Church, Daisetta, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Friday, June 3, 2011 at Central Baptist Church, Daisetta, Texas, with burial to follow in Guedry cemetery, Batson, Texas.

Verna was born on October 31, 1914, in Call, Texas to parents, George W. Edgar and Evie Lee Roebuck Edgar. Mrs. Fregia was the last living charter member of her church, Central Baptist Church of Daisetta. She loved listening and singing gospel music and reading her Bible scripture daily. Verna was a longtime member of the Woodmen of the World Organization. Verna was an avid sports fan, all sports. She also enjoyed playing “42” and spending time with her family and friends.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Columbus Jack “C.J.” Fregia, one brother, Frank Edgar, two sisters, Della Rogers and Birdie Lee “Snookie” Scott. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Stengler and husband Howard, one sister, Dottie Jones, three granddaughters; Gayle McDaniels and special friend Mike Harrison, Cheryl Broom and husband Gerald, Carol Holder, two grandsons; David Cooper and wife Sylvia and Tracy Stengler and wife Melissa, six great-grandchildren; Brandon Broom, Kameron Holder and wife Memori, Joshua Cooper, Kandyce Stengler, Dillon Cooper and Garrett Stengler and one great-great-grandchild Chelsey Fajkus and numerous other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas.

Smith

George L. Smith, 59, of Dayton, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. George was born May 17, 1952 in Valdosta, GA, to parents; George S. and Myrtice I. Smith, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in Dayton for the past 23 years.

He was a supervisor for Austin Industrial, and enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, and building and fliing model planes.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Wesley S. Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Sharron Y. Raulerson Smith of Dayton, son: Terry Smith of Highlands, daughters: Christina Davidson and husband Mark of PN, Angela Combs and husband Jerry of Mt. Belvieu, and Samantha Hindman and husband Dustin of Dayton, sister: Joyce Smith of Spring, brothers: Arthur Smith and wife Sarah of Lufkin and Jerry Smith of Baton Rouge, LA, grandchildren: Brett Smith, Gabriel Hindman, Alex Hindman, Autumn Kay Sumrall, and Lauren Davidson, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

McCreight

Earl McCreight, Sr., 83, of Moss Hill, died Sunday May 29, 2011 at ICON Hospital in Humble Texas.

A native and resident of Moss Hill he had lived in the Liberty County area most of his life and was retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator for John McCreight Inc. of Beaumont.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Helen McCreight, parents, Joe Dark McCreight and Eva Ann Booth McCreight and son J.W. Thibodeaux.

He is survived by his sons Earl McCreight Jr and wife Tamara of Moss Hill, Bo McCreight and wife Candice of Madisonville TX, Bobby Lee Granger and wife Paula of Rose City. Daughters Helen Whitmire of Livingston, Edna Whitmire and husband Roy of Livingston, and Kathy Hoover of Onalaska. Brothers J.D. McCreight of Moss Hill, Sam McCreight of Livingston. sister Edith Madden of Moss Hill. Grandchildren: fifteen, Great grandchildren: twenty-one and Great-great grandchildren three.

A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday June 1, 2011 at 11:00A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson with Reverend Alan Owens officiating.

Interment will follow at The Moss Hill cemetery of Moss Hill. The family will be receiving friends and guest on Tuesday May 31, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the chapel of Faith Family.

Beran

Marcell Louis Beran, 89, of Dayton, died Monday, May 23, 2011 in Humble. He was born October 6, 1921 in Dayton, Texas to parents Morise and Zofie Moudry Beran. A lifelong resident of Dayton, Mr. Beran was a cotton and corn farmer, and a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and watching TV.

Services for Mr. Beran will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Father Michael Vu officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Catholic cemetery in Eastgate. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Beran was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances M. Dirba Beran, his son: James Marcell Beran, and his brothers, Pete and Sylvester Beran. He is survived by his daughter: Dolores M. Beran of Conroe; his sons: Larry Beran and wife Donna of Shepherd, Marcell Beran of Coldspring, and David Beran and wife Diane of Dayton; five grandchildren: Lori Beran, Larry Charles Beran, Terri Valdez and husband Gerardo, Natalie Smith, and Fawn Maddox; three great-grandchildren: Kevin McFadden, Anthony Valdez, and Haley Garcia; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Skidmore

Harry G. “Skid” Skidmore, 84, of Dayton, died on Saturday, May 28, 2011.

Skid was born June 11, 1926 in Blossom, Texas to parents, Ruby Finch Skidmore and Harry Skidmore.

Services for Mr. Skidmore will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Dayton with Rev. Dale Hill officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday morning 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Joe, James, and Bill, his stepson, Ronnie Parker and various nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Winn Skidmore of Dayton, brother, Jerry Skidmore and wife Connie of Lake Jackson.

Skid was a graduate of Blossom High School and Paris Junior College, after his stint in World War II. Among many other places, he served two years in Sandai, Japan in the 188th Parachute Infantry, Regiment 11th Airborne Division. He was honorably discharged, November 16, 1946 – one year after the surrender of Japan in August, 1945.

Skid worked as Superintendent at Brown and Root, Liberty County Precinct IV and was a rancher for many years in Dayton, Texas. He was named Dayton Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in 1993, lifetime member of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, President of American Cancer Society of Liberty County, member of Elks Lodge, supported Crippled Children in Ottine, Texas, member of Veterans Foreign Wars, American Legion, Dayton Young Farmers, Honorary member of Dayton FFA Chapter and many more too numerous to list.

Fox

Thomas Alexander Fox died of natural causes on May 22, 2011 at Odyssey House Hospice Hospital in Conroe, Texas.

He was 89 years old when he died just two hours short of his 90th birthday.

Thomas was born in Bowie, Texas on May 23, 1921 to Price Arrie and Dora Fox. He was the middle of seven children. He graduated from Bowie High School in May of 1940. After high school he served in the United States Navy for almost 4 years during World War II. After the war was over and he was discharged from the service, he became employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he worked for 40 years before retiring in 1986.

He was married to the Virginia Lee Ward for 48 years until her death in 1995. Thomas was the father of four children, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was a Master Mason serving in various offices of the Tarkington Prairie Lodge for over 50 years. He was one of only a few Masons who have received a 50-year teaching certificate. Thomas was a committed Christian and his life reflected his steadfast faith in his Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of Pin Oak Baptist Church where he was well loved and highly regarded. Thomas loved to garden and always gave away most of his crop to eager neighbors and friends. He also loved to play dominoes with friends and was well know for his quick wit and dry sense of humor.

Thomas is survived by his sister Audrey Dixon of Wichita Falls, Texas, his son Lee Fox and wife Carole of Conroe, Texas and his daughter Janice Fox of Leadville, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchildren: M. Zachary Fox and Wife Stephanie of League City, Texas; Rachael Mittendorf and husband Robert of Friendswood, Texas; Jennifer Miller of Leadville Colorado and Jessica Packard and her husband Jason of Fort Collins, Colorado. He is also survived by grandchildren: Piper and Sadie Fox; Olivia, Brady, Violet Mittendorf, Daniel and Matthew Fox; Noah and Christian Miller; Hailey Ogel; Shane, Joseph and Lessa Packard and Skyler Acre.

Thomas was preceded in death by: his wife Virginia; his sons Paul and Gregory; his brothers Aubrey, Leon and Osborn; his sisters Lavern Dalton and Thelma Dalton and his grandson Joseph Gregson.

Bro. George Hayden and Bro. Terry Haltom presided over funeral services held Saturday, May 28, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Memory of Thomas Alexander Fox to Pin Oak Baptist Church, 1984 CR 381, Cleveland, Texas 77328 and/or Odyssey Hospice of Conroe, 100 I-45 North, Ste. 300, Conroe, Texas 77301.

Reynolds

Mary Elizabeth Reynolds, age 81, of Conroe, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011.

She was born November 14, 1929 in Houston, Texas to parents, Vernon William and Elizabeth McMurrey and her loving husband, Edward Luke Reynolds.

Survivors include son, Luke Reynolds and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Cody Luke Reynolds and fiancé, Melinda Brown; great-grandchild, Scylar Elizabeth Reynolds; special friends, Betty Jean and Lois Bradford and Ruth Everitt; numerous other treasured family members and a host of faithful friends throughout the years.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Coldspring, Texas with interment at Oakwood cemetery, Coldspring, Texas; Bro. Dalton Currie presided over services. Pallbearers included Tommy Harris, Cody Reynolds, Eddie Cotton, Alvin Wyatt, Steven McMurrey, and Tony Sewell.

King

Johnny N. King, 72, of Goodrich, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Memorial Medical Center in Lufkin.

Johnny was born January 1, 1939 in Texas City, to parents; Cecil and Kathleen King, a former resident of Texas City, and has resided in the Goodrich for the past nine years. He was a graduate of the Texas City High School class of 1957, a retired technician in the oil field industry, and enjoyed fishing, wood working, and watching westerns.

Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Rosie Ackholm and Viva Richter. He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Claudia Welch King of Goodrich, son: Michael King and wife Terri of Goodrich, daughter: Patricia King of Goodrich, brother-in-law: Rocky Welch of Goodrich, grandchildren: Thomas Lee King, John Michael King, and Sarah Renee King, great-grandchild: Landon Alexander King, his dog: Coco, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside services were held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the Wells cemetery in Cleveland, Texas.

Beasley

Jimmie O. Beasley, 78, of Splendora, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Icon Hospital in Humble.

Jimmie was born June 7, 1932 in Naylor, MO, to parents Johnson and Alice Elliott Beasley, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Splendora for the past 30 years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force with service during Korea, a retired letter carrier for the US Post Office, and a former reserve deputy for the Harris County Sherriff’s Office. He also enjoyed playing dominoes, gardening, fishing, hunting, wood working, and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Kenneth Lee Beasley, and grandchildren: Danny Ray Beasley and Julie Beasley.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years: Avis Grimes Beasley of Splendora, sons: Ray Beasley and wife Valerie of Splendora and Keith Beasley of Oklahoma City, OK, daughters: Bonnie Pimentel and husband Eddy of Austin, Donna Brown and husband Mark of Crosby, Melissa Hardie and husband Tom of Huffman, Shannon Ware and husband Patrick of Huntsville, and Anneliese Ayers of Spring, brother: Jerry Beasley of Valdosta, GA, sisters: Mary Redfern and husband Sterling of Harlingen, Evelyn Cooper and husband Terry of Doniphan, MO, Doris Mauer and Ken of Montrose, CO, and Donna Hall and husband Jack of Doniphan, MO, grandchildren: Jenny Williams and husband Arik, Cortney Cleveland and husband Brooks, Joey Beasley, Cody Butler, Cameron Butler, Lauren Pimentel, Charlotte Odale, Kaitlyn Ware, Kara Ware, Wyatt Hardie, Dallas Smith, Deena Smith, Drake Smith, and Daniel Smith, great-grandchildren: C. J. Cleveland, Sofia Williams, Hudson Cleveland, Beket Williams, Andalyn Cleveland, and Brooklyn Chipman, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie.

Orand

Tressie Earline Orand, 84, of Liberty, died on May 25, 2011, in Kingwood, Texas.

Mrs. Orand was born on July 14, 1926 to parents, Earnest Drue Gardner and Annie Bula Odom Gardner in Hull, Texas. She married Thomas Richard Orand on May 23, 1944 and spent sixty one years with him until his death in 2005. Earline loved people and never met a stranger. She loved the beach and playing cards. She enjoyed painting. She taught piano lessons and water aerobics. She worked for over twenty years as an administrative assistant at Liberty ISD.

Mrs. Orand was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas Orand, one daughter, Judy Nolan, one sister, Lois Cornell and one brother Billy Gardner. She is survived by three daughters, Sue Wiggins and husband Craig, Pam Sellers and husband Jack, Tommie Greak and husband Louis, two sisters, Jeanette Orand, Barbara Taylor and husband Kenneth, five grandchildren, Chris Marcontell, Rick Ramsey, Joey Ramsey, Cory Greak and Justin Greak.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 27, 2011 from 5pm until 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 28, 2011, 10:00am, at Allison Funeral Service Chapel, Liberty, Texas with burial to follow in Liberty Catholic cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Beasley

Jimmie O. Beasley, 78, of Splendora, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Icon Hospital in Humble.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Bell

Derek Ashley Bell, 23, of Sour Lake, died Saturday May 21, 2011 in Beaumont.

A native of Colorado he had lived in Sour Lake most of his life and was a self employed construction worker.

Derek was preceded in death by grandparents Billy Gibson, Jewell Bell, Glenn Payne, and Charlie Bell. Survivors are his wife Sarah Bell of Sour Lake, parents Michele and step-father E.J. Kelley of Sour Lake, father Phillip Bell of Sour Lake. Father and mother in-law Thomas Glenn and Sandra Payne of Sour Lake, brothers Shawn Frazier and wife Misty of Liberty, Charles Bell and wife Sarah of China. Sisters are Breanna Kelley of Sour Lake, Lisa Payne of Sour Lake, Tiffany Kelley and Melissa Williams both of North Carolina. Grandmother: Mildred Gibson of Willis TX.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday May 26, 2011 at 10:00A.M. at The Apostolic Lighthouse church of Sour Lake with Reverend M.D. Miller officiating, interment will follow at the Rosedale cemetery in Sour Lake.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday May 25, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. also at the church.

Edmonds

Floyd Dalton Edmonds, age 85, died Saturday May 20, 2011 in Baytown.

Dalton was born in Eunice, LA May 7, 1925 the son of the late Jess and Bathilde Daigle Edmunds. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy in the Construction battalion. He was self-employed as the owner operator of Edmonds Oil. Dalton also enjoyed farming, ranching, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his son Carlton Glenn Edmonds, daughter-in-law Terry Lee Edmonds, grandson Kyle Edmonds, brothers Leroy and W.M. Edmonds and a sister Dorothy Natali.

He leaves behind the cherish his memory his devoted wife Velma Edmonds of Anahuac, son Floyd D. Edmonds and wife Robin of Anahuac, sister Myrtle Mallett of Dallas, granddaughters, Kristen Cothren and husband Dana of Baytown, and Mallory Hisler of Anahuac, and two great-grandchildren, Kase and Lexi Cothren.

A funeral service will be held Monday, May 23, 2011 at 2PM at Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Anahuac with visitation to be held one hour prior. Burial to be held in Anahuac cemetery.
