Shanks

Francis Marion Shanks, 59, of Dayton, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the Linney cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

He was born October 31, 1951 in Dayton, to parents; Granville Marion and Margaret Bozeman Shanks, a former resident of Beaumont, and has resided in the Dayton area since 1966. He was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1970, a former welder, and Baptist by faith. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, riding horses and working cattle.

Mr. Shanks was preceded in death by his brother: Richard E. Shanks. He is survived by his parents: Marion and Margaret Bozeman Shanks of Dayton, sons: Donnie and Eugene, daughters: Kimberly Ann and Sarah, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Melonson

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jerome James Melonson, 85, of Ames, Texas on Monday April 18, 2011 at 10 o’clock a.m. with The Reverend Father George Okeahialam, M.S.P. as Celebrant with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery, under the direction on Wells Funeral Service, Liberty. Texas.

A native of Liberty, he was employed as head operator for Occidental Chemical Corporation formally Diamond-Alkali. In the 26 years of employment he held 26 years of perfect attendance. Visitation will be held at the church from 8 A.M. until time of service.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of sixty-three years: Ellena Melonson; one son: Jerome Arnold Melonson, of Liberty; three daughters: Mary Francis Walters of Houston, Dahl Rollins-Bennett of Ames, Myra Fontenot of Liberty; one brother: Timothy Melonson, Sr.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Harrison

Shariesa Marie Harrison, 44, of Sour Lake, died on Thursday, April 14, 2011.

She was born in Kountze, Texas November 20, 1966. She was a faithful wife of a minister. She served as the Music Director of the First Christian Church. She was the first registered Play Therapist in the Golden Triangle area. She received a BS from Baylor and her double Masters in family counseling and Education from South Western Seminary. She loved people. She tried her best to honor her parents. She lived to help people.

She is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Harrison of Sour Lake; parents, Boyce and Sharon Ward of Mauriceville; grandmother, Irma Ward; children, Gene Harrison of Sour Lake, Joe Harrison of Sour Lake, Hope Chaoui and husband Nabil of Houston, Amanda Harrison of Haleyville, Alabama; brother, Von Ward and wife Amy of Buna; grandchildren, Isaac Chaoui, Kaileigh Harrison and Gracie Harrison.

Her family will receive friends on Sunday April 17, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Sour Lake. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday April 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Sour Lake, officiated by Pastor Clifton Rankin of Beaumont and Pastor David Derr of First Christian Church of Nederland. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Ferral cemetery near Woodville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services, 40847 Hwy 105 E, 77519, 936-262-2100.

Moorman

William Arthur Moorman, Jr., age 90, died Tuesday April 12, 2011 in Cleveland.

William was known to many by many names such as Willie, Bo, Bill, Rooster Fish and Pa. He was born in Burkburnett, Texas June 12, 1920 the son of the late William Arthur Moorman Sr. and Jessie Lea Kelley Moorman. A graduate of Liberty High School he went on to serve in the US Army Air Corp as an aerial photographer. He retired with over forty years of service from Shell Chemical as a maintenance supervisor. William was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and crossword puzzles.

He was deeply devoted to his wife Juanita Blake Moorman who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother Elton Moorman and a sister Hazel Vassar. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, John C. Moorman wife Barbara of Liberty and William A. “Bo” Moorman III of Reklaw, TX, three grandsons, John Moorman II of Liberty, Chris Moorman of Liberty, and Billy Moorman of Austin, and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 6PM till 9PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services will be held 10AM Friday, April 15, 2011 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Stacy cemetery.

Hayes

Douglas Ray Hayes, 73, of Liberty, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in Beaumont, Texas

A visitation will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 10 AM until 11 AM at Allison Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Reverend V.R. Hylton will be the officiant.

Doug was born in Beaumont, Texas on October 3, 1937, to parents, Edward Hayes and Dorris Washburn Hayes. Doug was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and working in the yard. He liked watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros and Nascar.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Martha A. Hayes, a son, Douglas Hayes II, a daughter, Joey Hayes, two stepsons, Andrian and Aaron Touchstone, sister, Wanda Lanham and husband Don, two grandchildren, Kane and Alex Touchstone and many other relatives and friends

Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Cannady

Robert Dalton Cannady went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2011.

He was born on June 10, 1949 to parents R.D. Cannady and Marjorie Ruth Simmons Cannady in Houston, Texas.

Robert was a self employed businessman in his younger years and later in life, after a disabling motorcycle accident, used his electronic skills to keep himself busy. Robert was a kind and wonderful man who loved his family dearly and was always making sure to assist with what they needed.

He is preceded in death by his father, and his wife Linda. Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Marjorie Cannnady – Sisters, Terri Carr and husband Guy, Lynda Woods and husband Tom – Nephews, Jason Merchant and fiancé Ginny, Mike Merchant and wife JoDee and children Mikey and KaiLee – Nieces, Angela Brown, Michelle Ussery and husband Thomas and children Taylor, Brian, Brent, Breanna, Kyra and Elijah, and Aimee Carr and fiancé Daniel Billstein and child Aidan. Robert was also excited to be awaiting the birth of three more additions to the family this summer.

A memorial service officiated by Reverend Dick Lintelman will be held on Saturday April 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Chapel in Batson, TX.

Davis

Vallie Marie Davis, 75, of Votaw, died on Tuesday April 12, 2011.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Votaw. She worked as a Cook in the galleys of Tug Boats for DigiCon. She enjoyed quilting and spending time gardening. She also had a great love for animals. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Lela Mae Meadows; brothers, Vince Lee Meadows, Virgil Meadows, Vircie Meadows and Jimmy Meadows.

She is survived by her children Virgil Davis and wife Cheryl of Houston, Vircie Davis of Votaw, Dorothy Foster of Votaw; grandchildren, Kenneth Keith Foster of Fairfield, Penn., Carl Davis of Houston, Roger Davis of Salt Lake City, Utah; great grandchildren, Rhionna Foster and Taylor Foster of Fairfield, Penn; and many many friends.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Murphy

Goldie Marie Abshier Murphy, 89, of Hardin, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at home after an extended illness. She was born December 24, 1921 in Devers, Texas to parents Edmund and Sally Dowdell Abshier. She loved her family especially her grandchildren and she enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Services for Mrs. Murphy will be 12 noon, Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Interment will follow at Camp Ruby cemetery in Livingston. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Murphy, infant son, daughters, Lounelle Rascoe and Alice Cleveland, and grandson, Donnie James Strawn. She is survived by daughters: Mary Ann Ward and husband Robert of Baytown, Shirley Ulkie of Dayton, Linda Remsing and husband William of Dayton, Janice O’Neil and husband Colin of Conroe, Patsy O’Neil and husband Warren Dale of Hardin, Loretta Bell of Hardin, Debra Sue Strawn of Cleveland, and Kathy Laverne Brandon of Alvin; son: James Edward Murphy and wife Mary Carolyn of Huntsville; brother: Elmer Lloyd Abshier of Magnolia; 30 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren, 16 great great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.

Cannady

Bullard

Roger Dale “Rocky” Bullard, 60, of Dayton, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at a later date. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Rocky was born December 15, 1950 in Bessemer, AL, to parents; Raymond Bullard and Vera Carroll, was a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 11 years. He was a graduate of Furr High School, a former shift supervisor for Union Tank Car, and Baptist by faith. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and taking care of others.

Mr. Bullard was preceded in death by his father: Raymond Bullard, mother: Vera Carroll Seals, brother: Ricky Bullard, and sister: Wanda Bullard. He is survived by his wife of 43 years: Bonnie Whitten Bullard of Dayton, daughters: Mona Crowe and husband Doug of Dayton and Michelle Vigneault and husband Guy of Houston, brother: Mike Bullard and wife Charla of Houston, sisters: Patsy Riggs of Houston, Judy Gonzales and husband Michael of Houston, Cheryl Bullard of Houston, mother-in-law: Karen Hare and husband Bill of Dayton, sisters-in-law: Niki Buckalew and husband Chris of Atascocita and Melissa Baker and husband Randy of Dayton, brothers-in-law: Rex Whitten and wife Debbie of Dayton and Lance Hare of Dayton, uncle: Clifford Carroll and wife Rita of Arlington, four grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Ash

Howard A. Ash, 75, of Dayton, died on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at his residence. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 15, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Military honors will be given. A gathering of Howard's "Jr." will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the funeral home. Howard will be interment will be in Houston National cemetery.

Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ellise; sisters, Alisan and Elaine. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force where he retired has a T. Sgt.

Howard is survived by his daughters, Dina Tanner and her husband, Michael, and Yvonne Byler and husband, William; sister, Millie Wirta; brother, Lloyd Ash and wife Murelle; eight grand, four great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends..

Walker

Katie "Sandi"Walker, 50, of Anahuac died on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at her residence. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 7, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Sandi's family will be from 12:00 to 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the funeral home.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Claudine Goolsby. She worked as a teacher in early child care. She loved winning in cards.

Sandi is survived by her husband of 25 years, John Walker; daughters, Sarah Goolsby, Chelsi Walker, and Cori Walker; granddaughter, Nevaeh Sales; brother Kenneth Goolsby Jr. and wife June; and a host of other family and friends.

Dinsmore

Billy Jack “Bill” Dinsmore, 77, of Crosby, died Monday, April 11, 2011 in Baytown.

He was born February 3, 1934 in Georgetown, Texas to parents Ned and Barbara Hopkins Dinsmore. A previous resident of Anahuac and Dayton, Bill had lived in Crosby for the past ten years. He served in the US Navy, founded the first rodeo in Hawaii and was a bull rider. He retired as a superintendent from Brown and Root and enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycles, rodeos, and western shows.

Services for Mr. Dinsmore will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton with interment to follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Delbert A. Dinsmore, grandson: Billy Joe Dinsmore, sister: Betty Donaldson, sister-in-law: Larhonda Russell Lusk, and brother-in-law: Doug Aker. He is survived by his sons: Bill Dinsmore, and wife Gay of Kenefick, and Joe W. Dinsmore and wife Janet of Crosby; grandchildren: Leeann Dinsmore, Aaron Dinsmore, Lacy Dinsmore, Daniel Dinsmore, Brandon Dinsmore, Brandi Dinsmore Thompson & husband Dirk, and Erica Jo Dinsmore; 5 ½ great-grandchildren; brother: Darryl Lusk and wife Beverly of Highlands, and Johnny Lusk of Baytown and sister: Barbara D. Aker of California; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Lockhart

Emma Jean Pittman Lockhart, 76, of Dayton, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Triumph Hospital East in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Praise Tabernacle in Dayton with graveside services at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at the McKnight cemetery in Cushing. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Friday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Emma was born June 20, 1934 in Cushing, to parents; Orwin and Gertie Birdwell Pittman, a former resident of Northshore, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 20 years. She was a retired cafeteria clerk at Northshore High School in the Galena Park School District, member of the Praise Tabernacle, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Lockhart was preceded in death by her parents, husband: J. T. Lockhart, granddaughter: Billy Jo “Sally” Lockhart, and three brothers. She is survived by her sons: Thomas E. Lockhart of Dayton, Tommy Lockhart and wife Zorretta of Dayton, and Billy Lockhart and wife Valinda of Dayton, sister: Mary Louise Gresham of Hardin, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
