Williamson

Azalee Green Williamson, 82, of Dayton, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Magnolia Memorial Park. A gathering of Azalee's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the funeral home.

Azalee was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Williamson; son, Roy Lynn Williamson and grandson, Lefty Simons; parents, Polly and Jeff Green; sisters, Anne Lois Moore, and Velma Duncan; brothers, Elmer Green, Daniel Green William Green “Dicky”, and R.D. Green. Azalee worked for Rogers Pharmacy for over 23 years. She was a member of Community Christian Church in Dayton.

Azalee is survived by her daughters, Linda Williamson, Brenda Butler and husband Randy; grandchildren, Leyla Howard and husband, Kris, Leda Watson and husband, Josh, Shawn Williamson, Toby Butler and Lacy Butler; great grandchildren, Julie, Lane, Azlin, Kaleigh, Kalina, Landon and Kiley.

Cotten

Travis Eugene Cotten, 66, of Batson, died Monday March 28, 2011 at Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday March 31, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Batson United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Johnny Nelson officiating pallbearers are Justin Lopez, Curtis Johnson, Kelton Stubblefield, Michael Posey, Johnny Myers, T.K. Jeanes, interment to follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday March 30, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. Until 9:00 P.M. At the church.

Travis was born March 6, 1945 in Houston Texas, to Charles Fredrick Cotten and Edna Merle Carouthers. He had lived Batson most of his life and was a member of the Batson United Pentecostal Church and was a retired construction worker for Brown & Root Construction Company.

Survivors are his loving wife Betty Cotten of Batson, son Johnny Myers and wife Rana of Votaw. Daughters Cindy Lafour of Batson, Cathy Cotten of Hardin, Kristy Myers of Batson. Brothers Raymond Cotten, Rick Lewis, Jerry Lewis, Carlton” Corky” Lewis all of Batson and George Lewis of Saratoga. Sister Pam Sanders of Batson. Grandchildren are Justin “Son” Lopez, Erika Lopez, Alyssa Myers, Shelby Lafour, Kryssa Melancon, Tristen Myers, Karley Melancon, Kaleb Lafour and Chasidy Lafour.

Phillips

Bobby Joe Phillips, 76, of Dayton, died March 24, 2011 at Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center.

Bobby was born January 4, 1935 to Lee Thomas Phillips and Elizabeth English Phillips. Bobby was a Consultant for Shell Oil and British Petroleum.

Survivors are his Wife: Edna Royce Anderson Phillips of Dayton, Son: Tommy Phillips and Wife Sandra of Marshall, Daughter: Sissy Alexander of Marshall, Brother: Archie Lee Phillips of Marshall and Three Grandchildren.

A service of remembrance was held Monday March 28, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Bibleway Pentecostal Church of Liberty with Reverend Adolph Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Hillside cemetery in Liberty.

The family received friends also on Monday March 28, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Pallbearers were Randy Bay Chapman, Glenn Nugent, Ricky Eskas, Guy Paul, Oscar Burch, John Burch Sr. and Honorary Pallbearer was Ricky Hughes.

Palmer

Percy James “P.J.” Palmer, age 82, died Saturday, March 26, 2011 in Baytown.

He was born in Daisetta, March 4, 1929 the son of the late Vernon Kelly Palmer and Dillie Leona Reavis Palmer. P.J. retired, after thirty years of service from Exxon Mobil as a gas plant chemist. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge in West Texas and was an Army Veteran, serving as a Radar Equipment Manager. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

P.J. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bernie A. Palmer and Floyd “Buck” Palmer as well as a sister Joyce Kapell. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a son Phillip Palmer of Daisetta, ex-wife Beatrice Palmer of Daisetta, brother Huey Marvin Palmer of Daisetta, sister Alma Lois Kinklea of Pineland, granddaughter Tara Palmer of Liberty, great grandchildren Nicholas Miller and Ember Miller both of Liberty. In addition he leaves a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be held 11AM, Tuesday, March, 29, 2011 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis with burial to follow in Oakdale cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Cowan

Charles Wesley Cowan, Jr., age 84, died peacefully Saturday, March 26, 2011 at his home with his beloved family by his side.

Charles was born in Houston, August 17, 1926 the son of the late Charles Wesley Cowan Sr. and Alma Abendroth Cowan.

He retired from the Baytown Police Department as a lieutenant, serving as the director of organized crime.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy and a life member of the Masonic Lodge serving for over 50 years beginning in Baytown, and a member of the Gospel Assembly at Porter Church.

A visitation will be held at Allison Funeral Service Chapel on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 5pm until 8pm.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 4pm with Reverend George Wright officiating at Cooke Memorial cemetery in Liberty, Texas.

Mr. Cowan was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Diana Lynn Collins and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Mildred Louise Cowan, two daughters; Charlene Whisneant and husband Lester and Penny Morgan and husband Randy, one sister, Dolly Manross and husband Del Roy, four grandchildren; Deana Butler, Deborah Dunn, Les Whisneant and Trace Morgan, seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Haney

Jerry Haney, Sr., 61, of Old River, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at his residence.

He was born September 1, 1949 in Smackover Arkansas, lived most of his life in Texas, had been in Old River for the last 5 years and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Era.

Jerry previously owned and operated Singer Sewing Company, was an avid fisherman and guitar player and was loved by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Haney and a brother, Randy Haney.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Lynn Haney of Old River; mother, Dorothy Haney of Alabama; children, Jenny Boykin and Mindy Kibodeaux of Orange, Jerry Haney, II of Waco and Timothy Haney of Old River; step-children, Rachel Crump of Kentucky and James Krawetz, Jr. and Tommy Lee Krawetz of Indiana; sister, Peggy Baker of Alabama; 9 grandchildren; 1 grandchild on the way and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev. Eddie Norris officiating. A graveside service at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Houston National VA cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521.

White

Shirley Ann Edwards White, 71, of Dallas, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Presbyterian Village North Nursing Home in Dallas, surrounded by family and caregivers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Shirley was born August 27, 1939 in McCaskill, Arkansas, to parents; Bill Edwards and Ester McBrayer, and was proud of her childhood in Hope, Arkansas. After graduation she moved to Houston where she met her husband, Vaughn Patrick White and worked as a key punch operator at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston for twenty years. She retired to Dayton and lived there for twenty years. She will be remembered for her love of nature and all God’s creatures big and small. Her gentle spirit and kindness deeply touched her family and all that knew her.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband: Vaughn Patrick White and her parents Ester McBrayer Jordan and Bill Edwards. She is survived by sister-in-law: Linda McClain Kaps of Dayton, niece: Cheryl Bradford and husband Robin of Dallas, nephew: Vaughn McClain and wife Kay of Killeen, great niece and nephew which she called her grandchildren: Sophie and James McClain Bradford of Dallas, her beloved dog: Max, and numerous other relatives, and friends. Her family is grateful for the loving care given by her caregivers, Tessa Sterling, Teresa Dewar, Charmaine, Regina and Trisha.

Burk

Wynema Godwin Burk, age 93, died Thursday March 24, 2011 in Silsbee, Texas.

Wynema was born February 23, 1918 in Stuart, OK, the daughter of the late David Shelby Godwin and Ida Jane Adams Godwin. She moved from Orange in 1953 to Devers, where she last worked for Jeffrey Farms for over thirty years. A graduate of Gaston High School, she enjoyed crafting and genealogy. She wed in Selman City, Texas, March 24, 1937 to her beloved husband who preceded her in death Lawrence Burk.

She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Jack and Jimmie Walton, granddaughter Cheryl Ann Neumann, and a grandson Milton R. Connor Jr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, David Lawrence Burk wife Jo of Liberty, Charles Everett Burk wife Roberta of Silsbee, sisters, Genetta Robinson of Overton, Helen Joyce Sharp of Lendsey, OK, Barbara Ann Massey of Tyler, grandchildren, Danny Burk wife Marsha, Donnie L. Burk wife Tracey, Robert Heim wife Linda, Randell Heim wife Lisa, Tena King husband John, Charles W. Burk wife Dan Anne, Brenda Sherman husband Robbie, and Deborah Scott husband Mark. In addition she leaves twenty-one great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 5-8PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral Service will be celebrated 10AM, Monday, March 28, 2011 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Fairlawn cemetery.

Burnitt

Infant Kassidie LeeAnn Burnitt, of Dayton went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Children Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 25, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park cemetery. Kassidie's family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the funeral home.

Kassidie is survived by her parents, Randy and Stephanie Burnitt; sisters, Kayla, Krestyl, Karah, Sydney, and twin sister, Katelinn Elizabeth; brothers, Kyle, and Randall Jr.; grandparents, Don and Evelyn Burnitt, Lawana Patty, Gary and Robin Mattix; and a host of other family and friends.

Brown

Angel Brown, infant child of William and Jessica Brown of Dayton, died Monday March 21, 2011 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital of Baytown.

Survivors other than parents are grandparents Alvin and Cathy Brown of Dayton, Bob and Kathy Allington of Baytown. Great grandparents J.D. and Martha Reeves of Dayton. Uncles are Timothy Brown of Dayton, and Bobby Allington and wife Audrey of Corpus Christi. Aunts Flora Espinoza and husband Frank of Baytown, Jennifer Sampson and husband Scott of Corpus Christi.

A service of remembrance will be held at the graveside on Friday March 25, 2011 at 5:00 P.M.at the Reeves cemetery in Dayton with Reverend Ernie Leonard of South Dayton Baptist church officiating.

Ripkowski

Leon Ripkowski, 91, of Dayton, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 in Humble, Texas after an extended illness.

He was born July 26, 1919 in New Waverly, Texas to parents, Stash and Mattie Obrych Ripkowski. Leon was one of 12 brothers who served in various branches of the military spanning from World War II to the Korean War. He served in the Army during World War II as a M.P. during campaigns in Algeria, French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Rome-Arno and Southern France. He was honorably discharged in 1944 and was awarded an incredible five Bronze Stars. Mr. Ripkowski was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the VFW Post 5621, American Legion Post 512, and Liberty Rotary Club. He was well known for his love of gardening both vegetables and roses. An honorable man will be missed by all who knew him.

Services for Mr. Ripkowski will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at St. Joseph’s the Worker Catholic Church in Dayton with interment to follow at Magnolia Park cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with the Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ripkowski was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: August Ripkowski, Raymond Ripkowski, Herman Ripkowski, Stanley Ripkowski, Felix Ripkowski, Bill Ripkowski, Bernie Ripkowski and sister: Virginia Carter. He is survived by his wife of sixty one years: Mary Osbolt Ripkowski of Dayton; his son: John Ripkowski and wife Shari of Dayton; his daughters: Annette Taylor and husband Jim of Liberty and Jeanette Hale and husband Jay of Dayton; grandchildren: Cory Ripkowski and wife Julie of Dayton, Shane Iler of Liberty, Stuart Iler of Liberty, and Brent Hale of Dayton; one great granddaughter: Cameron Ripkowski; brothers: Alex Ripkowski, Franklin Ripkowski, Mike Ripkowski, and John “Buster” Ripkowski; sisters: Kathryn Machala, Pearline Tilton and Anna Lee Campbell; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

LeNormand

Therman C. LeNormand Sr., 89, of Hardin died on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Houston Hospice in Houston Medical Center.

He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 20, 2011 in Moss Hill Community cemetery under the direction of Allison Funeral services in Liberty.

Mr. LeNormand was preceded in death by his wives, Bernice Gilfillian LeNormand, and Lorene Tanner LeNormand; son, Gwaine LeNormand; sister, Geraldine LeNormand.

T.C. is survived by his sons, TC (Robin) LeNormand Jr., Therman James LeNormand and wife, Carolyn; grandson, Darron James LeNormand; stepson, Marvin (Bub) Moore and wife, Cheryl and their children, Marvin Jr., Brent, and their wives, Beth and Cammy; 3 great-grandchildren,; stepdaughter, Karen Moore and her children, Angie, Mark and Kelly; nieces, Kindra Landry and Stephanie Shelburne; nephews, Henke Gilfillian, Steven Shelburne, Kim Landry; and a host of other family and friends.

Randolph

Esther Randolph, 79, of Liberty, Texas, went to be with her Lord, on Thursday, March 17, 2011, her birthday. She was born on March 17, 1932 in Mallet, Louisiana, to parents, Hebert Clarence Bellard and Augustine Guillory Bellard.

Visitation will be held at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, from 9am until 11am. The funeral service will be held at 11am, March 23, 2011 at the church with burial in Wells cemetery immediately following.

Mrs. Randolph attended school in Eunice, Louisiana. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, country-western music and working puzzle books. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, J.P. Randolph, two sons; David Randolph, Mark Randolph, two grandsons; David Randolph II, Cody DeMarcus McDaniel, one great-grandson, John Jackson Jr., two sisters; Josephine Semien, Lillian Avie and three brothers; Clarence Bellard, Albert Bellard and Calvin Bellard and one special sister-in-law Lucille Bellard.

Esther is survived by two sons; Patrick Dale Semien, G.G. Randolph, three daughters; Patricia Ann Julius and husband Prentice, Cynthia Edwards and husband Joe, Pam McDaniel and husband Percy, one step-daughter, Jacqueline Cormier, four sisters; Eva Winter and husband B.B., Rita Bellard, Rose Gallow and husband Stanley, Beatrice Semien, fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575
