Dollahite

Mary Orlena Dollahite died on March 15, 2011 at 92 years old. She was born December 28, 1918 in McKinney, Texas to John Snapp and Lillian Gallop Snapp. She married Herbert Duncan Dollahite on April 3, 1937 after graduating high school. They moved to Waco, Texas. Even though they were “poor as church mice, ” as she used to say, they both enrolled in and graduated from Baylor University, Mary with a Masters Degree in Education. She was a teacher for 30 years in the Houston Independent School District.

Mary Orlena Dollahite had 2 daughters, Molly S. Dollahite Clark, and Mary Lou Dollahite Robertson was born 8 ˝ years later. Molly has a daughter, Sheri Michele Clark Littrell. Mary Lou also gave her a granddaughter, Kasey Robertson Wheeler, and a grandson, Rusty Robertson. Granddaughter Sheri gave her a great granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Littrell. Granddaughter Kasey gave her two great grandsons, Keldan and Ronan Wheeler. Grandson Rusty gave her two more great grandsons, Caden and Michael Robertson.

Mary Orlena and Herbert Dollahite moved to Cleveland in 1978 to be close to Molly who lives in Cleveland, and Mary Lou who lived in Kingwood at the time.

Mary’s husband, Herbert Dollahite, passed away in 1985 in Cleveland, where she continued to live and serve as an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Texas. She was preceded in death by father John Snapp, mother Lillian Gallop Snapp, brother David Snapp, and two sisters, Polly Roper and Alice Younger.

She is survived by, brother, Joe Snapp, and sisters, Johnnie Kelly and Betty Kasten.

Services for Mrs. Dollahite will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland. Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be 8:00 a.m., until 9:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011 at Pace-Stancil, Cleveland, Texas.

Nail

Marianne Nail, 74, of Huffman, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at her residence. She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 18, 2011 in Palms cemetery under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Marianne was preceded in death by her husband, John Albert Nail, sister Doris Millwood, brother Jerry Driver.

Mrs. Nail is survived by her granddaughter, Christina Zuniga, great-grandson Kyler Zuniga; and a host of other family and friends.

Mullinix

Bruce Leon Mullinix, 58, of Devers, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday at North Main Baptist Church in Liberty under the direction Allison Funeral Services. Interment will follow in Cooke cemetery in Liberty. A gathering of Bruce’s family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the funeral Home.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Mullinix, grandparents, Joe and Bessie Mullinix Boley and Elizabeth Thomas; and brother, Thomas Keith Mullinix. Bruce loved hunting, baseball and baling hay.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 35 years, Becky Mullinix; sons, Bruce Aaron Mullinix and wife Molly, Brent Landon Mullinix and wife Jessica; mother, Helen Thomas Mullinix; grandsons, Caden and Landon Mullinix; sister, LaVonne Chandler and husband Steve Chandler; sisters-in-law, Cheri Mitchell, Tamara Harris, Jennifer Adler and husband, Mark; brother-in-law, Jamie Mitchell and wife Beth; nieces and nephews, Bobby Pevehouse, Penni Nappi, Shanna Kuromoto, Trey Erp, Tobin Erp, Jessica Derry, Darby Askew, Heather Rochow, Thomas Kerner, Adam Kerner, Matthew Mitchell and Charlsie Mitchell; and a host of other family and friends.

Woodward

Michael P. Woodward, 62, of Tarkington Prairie, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at the Kingwood Medical Center in Houston.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Services will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Michael was born March 27, 1948 in Buffalo, NY, to parents; Donald and Shirley J. Menken Woodward, a former resident of Alexandria, VA, and has resided in the Tarkington Prairie area for one year. He was a patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for 20 years and enjoyed ranching, reading, and playing golf, chess, and poker.

Mr. Woodward is survived by his wife of six years: Cherie Poland Woodward of Tarkington Prairie, daughters: Emily Chappell and husband Michael of VA and Maggie Woodward of VA, parents: Donald and Shirley Menken Woodward of MD, brothers: Andrew Woodward and wife Lori of NC and Christopher Woodward and wife Ann of SC, sister: Joanne Woodward of NC, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Wood

Eva Wood, 90, of Houston, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 13, 2011 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Humble, Texas. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling White Funeral Home in Crosby under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. A gathering of Eva’s family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the funeral home. Interment will be held, Friday March 18, 2011, at 10:00 AM in Benton Memorial cemetery in Benton, Tennessee.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Pearl Hines; son, Jay Wood; and grandsons, Todd Cheek and Stephen Ferguson. She loved spending time with her family, fishing, going to the deer lease and sitting around the camp fire.

Eva is survived by her husband Maurice Wood; daughters, Patsy Cheek, Ann Hilliard and husband Bobby, Virginia Truett and husband Ronnie; sons, William (Eddie) Arthur and wife Debbie, Wallace Arthur and wife Martha; step daughter, Suzi Hughson and husband bill; grandchildren, Ty Cheek and wife Amy, Garland Hilliard and wife Jan, Jane Dewitt and husband Rocky, Billy Truett and wife Dana, Chrissy Harriman and husband Mark, Steven Arthur, Scotty Arthur and wife Yuki, Donna Johnson and husband Kenny, Charles Neal, Melanie McDonald and husband Mike, Jennifer Price and husband Jimmie, Missie Starr and husband Don, Nicki Todd and husband Sandy; great grandchildren, Blake, Cameron Cheek, Lauren Limburg and husband Corey, Jonathan Dewitt & wife Sara, Brenna Truett, Arron Truett, Hailey and Breeze Harriman, Brittany Arthur, Mike Arthur, Briannah Farmer, Justin McDonald, Joey, Oliva, and Lee Ann Price, Matt and Katie Steele, Abby and Will Todd; great-great grandchildren, Lane Allen, Bethany Allen; and a host of other family and friends.

Sweezy

Shirley Alice Sweezy, 75, of Beaumont, formerly of Daisetta died Sunday March 13, 2011 at the Beaumont Healtcare Center of Beaumont.

She was born to W.G. Sweezy and Edna Stevens July 15, 1935 and she was a self employed Antiques Dealer.

She is survived by her nieces Linda King of Devers, Edna Biscamp of Daisetta, Martha West of Batson. Nephews are Gary Riley of Tennesse, Kenneth Riley of Hardin, Wayne Riley of Gilmer TX, Bobby Sweezy of Dayton and other nieces, nephews and friends.

Cremation under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services.

Anderson

Kenneth Eugene "Andy" Anderson, 70, of Hull, died Saturday March 12, 2011 at his residence.

A native and life long residence of Hull he had worked as a Correctional Officer with Liberty Corrections Facility. He was preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn Sirman Anderson his parents Parker Eugene Anderson and Roberta Juanita Bloomfield.

Survivors are his brother Jim Anderson and wife Linda of Hull, step-brother Elvis Ferguson of Old River. Step sister Sharon Parsons and husband Henry of Zavalla, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends,

A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday March 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Daisetta United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Lonnie Jordan officiating interment will follow at Concorde cemetery in Rye.

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday March 15, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.also at the church. Pallbearers are Deac Hickman, B.J. Meche, Trey Willis, E.W. Storey, Albert Brock, and Clifford Fregia.

Miller

Tressa Miller, 76, of Anahuac, died on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont. She was a loving wife and sister.

A memorial mass celebration will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, March15th at Our Lady of Light in Anahuac under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A rite of committal will follow in Ananhuac cemetery. Military honors will be given. Tressa services in the U.S. Navy as a yeoman second class.

Tressa was preceded in death by her parents, George and Therrsa Tatarka; two brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband of 54 years Stuart Miller of Anahuac; sisters, Carol HIll, Loretta Hayes, Anna McMahan, Magdalene Dunmire; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Monticolo

Lawrence Albert Monticolo, 52, of Hardin, died Tuesday March 8, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Schenectady New York, to Alberto Monticolo and Bonnie Cole December 31, 1958.

Lawrence was a Sand Blaster and Painter in the construction industry.

He is survived by his mother Bonnie Caraway of Hardin, Son Lawrence Monticolo of Hardin and daughter Bonnie Caraway of Hardin.

Cremation handled under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson.

Hill

Paul Eugene Hill, 70, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, born Thursday, July 4, 1940 in Daisetta, Texas to Thomas Hill & Alice (Coker) Hill; went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 9, 2011 in Baytown, Texas with his loving family by his side.

Paul has been a resident of the Highlands area for over twenty-four years, attending Goose Creek Church of Christ in Baytown, Texas. Paul served his country proudly in the United State Army in the Engineering Corp. and worked for LTI trucking for twelve years before he retired. In Paul’s free time he avid gardener; but what he loved most of all were the times he shared with his beloved family and friends. Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Paul is preceded in death by his loving parents, Thomas & Alice Hill; his infant son, Jimmy Allen Hill and his son, Robert Eugene Hill.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-years, Mary Elizabeth Hill; children, Reona Hill, Chrisel Pearson & husband Bubba, Gary Young & wife Kathy, Jay Young & wife Marlyss, Floyd Young & wife Edna, Pete Young, Starrelette Walters & husband Tony and Twillia Sharafkhani & husband Bijan; grandchildren, Stephenie, Michael, Erica, Nicole, Diedra, Justin, Alexis, Ronnie, Paul Wayne, Jason, Kimberly, Darrell and Vida; eleven great-grandchildren, three brothers; two sisters and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 5-8pm at Sterling ~ White Funeral Home in the chapel. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 14, 2011 at 2:00pm at Sterling ~ White Funeral Home in the chapel.

Burial will follow at Sterling ~ White cemetery in Highlands, Texas at the pavilion. Services have been entrusted to Sterling ~ White Funeral Home & cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562.

Miller

Folsom

James Ray Folsom, 40, of Tarkington Prairie, died Thursday March 10, 2011 at Kingwood Medical Center in Houston.

He was born on February 5, 1971 to his Parents: James Darroll Folsom and Susie Alene Roden Folsom. James was a machinist and lived in Tarkington Prairie for five years.

Survivors include his Wife: Tina Ann Folsom of Tarkington, Son: James Ray Folsom II of Tarkington, Daughter: Emily Briann Folsom of Tarkington, Brother-In-Law: David Keith Hustus of Alvin, Texas and Sister: Susie Alene Hustus of Alvin, Texas.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday March 15, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Chapel interment to follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. The family will be receiving friends also on Tuesday March 15, 2011 from 11:00 AM. until time of service at Faith & Family Funeral Services.

Pallbearers are Larry Bennett, James Ray Folsom II, Brian Tharp, Roger Rowlett, David Hustus, Ben Biles, John O'Brian and Landon O'Brian.

Cobb

Gloria Cobb, 68, of Beaumont, died on March 9, 2011, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011, from 5pm until 8pm, at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty, Texas. No other public services will be held.

Gloria was born on January 10, 1943, in Manhattan, New York, to parents, James Swain and Mildred Chaisson Swain. Gloria retired from Exxon Mobile after over twenty years of service. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, loved to shop, especially on QVC. She liked to play Bunco and do a little bit of gardening.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one daughter, Lori King and husband Tim, three sons, Jack Davis and wife Kim, Steve Davis and wife Pam and Scott Davis and wife Heather, one brother, James Swain, three sisters Barbara Tutton, Mildred Rielly and Madeline Fitzgerald, fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many other friends and relatives.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Burns

Pamela Tarter Burns died peacefully at her home south of Anahuac, on March 5, 2011 at the age of sixty five years.

She was born Pamela Jo Scherer in Beaumont, TX, on July 21, 1945, to Bob Scherer, Sr. and Lola Foster Scherer.

Pam lived a varied and interesting life. She graduated from Anahuac High School in 1963 and never looked back. She worked for Wilcox Drug in Anahuac before going to work for Brown and Root at the shipyard in Oak Island, TX. in the mid 1960’s.

A son, Vance Lloyd Tarter, was born to Pam and husband Sidney Tarter on June 17, 1969. Vance was the joy of Pam’s life. She later worked for attorney Guy C. Jackson, III of Anahuac and Scherer Motor Co., her father’s firm, in the 1980s. Pam gained personal recognition in 1986 from the then CEO, Lee Iaccoca, for her father’s fifty years as a Chrysler Dealer.

In the mid 1990’s she went to work for the Houston law firm of O’Quinn, Laminack, and Pirtle, which later became the O’Quinn Law Firm. She eventually attained the position of senior legal assistant to attorney John O’Quinn. She then became O’Quinn’s main coordinator for almost all of his events, a very demanding position which placed Pam on a near 24/7 agenda. Pam handled this position with flying colors. Although John O’Quinn died in October of 2009, Pam was working at the firm at the time of her death.

She is survived by her son, Vance Tarter and his wife Tricia, two grandchildren, Darren and Jakub, a brother, Bobby Scherer and his wife Eleanor, all of Anahuac, one nephew, Samuel Scherer of Longview, TX, two nieces, Andrea Griffin and her husband James of Anahuac, Caroline Scherer of Mt. Belvieu, also one great niece, Emily Griffin of Anahuac.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Anahuac on March 12, 2011 at 1 o’clock PM. In lieu of flowers, Pam always wanted to help others, asked that donations be made to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Research Fund.
