Eakin

Jean Majors Fregia Eakin, 81, of Batson, died Wednesday February 2, 2011 at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont.

She was born December 16, 1929 in Tarkington Prairie TX, to Johnnie Aaron Majors and Edgeworth Morris. She had lived in Batson since 1958 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Batson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie Aaron Majors and Edgeworth Morris, and stepfather Bodie B. Watson. Husbands Allen “Cuz” Fregia and Doug Eakin. Sister Selma Lilley Geraldine “ Jerri” Scholtz. Brothers Jasper, Jessie, B.B. and Franklin Majors.

Survivors are her sons Harrell Jones and wife Ethel of Batson, Allen Fregia and wife Terri of Batson. Daughters Margaret Watts and husband Raymond of Batson, Faye Rice and husband Roy of Hull. Grandchildren eleven; Great-grandchildren sixteen; and foster grandson Dean White of Fort Polk Louisiana.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday February 5, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. At First Baptist Church of Batson, with Reverend Ken Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery of Batson. Those desiring to make memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Batson.

Childress

Funeral services for Lena Childress, 81, of Raywood, are pending at Wells Funeral Services, Liberty.

Ms Childress died Tuesday, February 2, 2011 at her residence.

Fontenot

Mathilda “Skippy” AndréPont Fontenot, 86, of Raywood, died Sunday, January 30, 2011, at Odyssey Healthcare at the Hamptons in Houston.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 4, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following at the Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery in Raywood. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m., to 11 a.m., Friday, at the church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mathilda was born October 19, 1924 in Iota, LA to parents; Edward and Emily Rougeau AndréPont, and has resided in the Raywood area throughout her life. She was a homemaker and member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She also enjoyed her family, cooking, crabbing, and gardening.

Mrs. Fontenot was preceded in death by her parents, husband: David Fontenot, Jr., son-in-law: Charles Robinson, and all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons: Marvin Fontenot and wife Ivory of Humble, Jerry Fontenot of Katy, Edward Lavine and wife Brenda of Lake Charles, LA, and Joseph Trent AndréPont Fontenot and wife Brenda of Moss Bluff, LA, daughters: Darlene Fontenot of Houston, Marlene Fontenot Robinson of Houston, Pamela Semien and husband Albert of Houston, Brenda Ruffin and husband Curtis of Houston, JoAnn AndréPont of Sulphur, LA, and Sheila AndréPont of Houston, and numerous grandchildren., great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Bingham

Oscar Lee Bingham, 75, of Dayton, died Sunday, January 30, 2011, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Dayton with burial following at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Oscar was born February 28, 1935 in Spurger, to parents; James H., Jr. and Cora Grissom Bingham, a former resident of Liberty, and has resided in Dayton for the past 45 years. He was a graduate of the Hull-Daisetta High School class of 1955, a retired operator for Chevron after 30 years of employment, and member of the First Baptist Church. He also enjoyed RV travel, camping, fishing, squirrel hunting, and wood working.

Mr. Bingham was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Tina DuBose, great-granddaughter: Sydney Vargo, and sisters: Mildred Ramer and Naomi Barrett. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Joyce Keener Bingham of Dayton, sons: Ricky Lee Bingham and wife Sandra of Burleson and Timmy Lee Bingham of Ft. Worth, grandchildren: Matthew Bingham, John DuBose, and Melissa Vargo, great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Kenzie, Emily, Addison, and Broden Vargo, sister: Mary Vinson of MS, brother: James H. Bingham, Jr. of Jasper, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Phipps

Patricia Ann Phipps, 59, of Liberty, died on Saturday January 29, 2011. She was a life-long resident of Liberty and a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Lorene Coughlin and brother, Francis Coughlin.

She is survived by her husband Jimmy Phipps; sisters, Nancy Vaughn and husband Everett, Lorene Tywater and husband Kenneth; brothers, Raymond Coughlin and wife Gloria, Joe Coughlin and wife Marylin, George Coughlin and wife Rena; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday February 2, 2010 at Hardin Chapel cemetery, officiated by Kelly McCain.

Honorary pallbearers are Dewitt Thompson, Russell Thompson, William Bankhead, Chad Vaughn, Travis Mckeand, Troy Vaughn and Everett Vaughn.

Hankamer

Wayne Hankamer Sr., 72, of Hankamer, died on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Anahuac with Reverend John Black officiating. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of Wayne's family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Wayne was a native of Hankamer worked and lived all over Texas and Louisiana but always called Hankamer home. Wayne retired from Vallen Corporation. He was preceded by his parents, Ira Jett Hankamer and Gladys Maurice Moor.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, P.D. Hankamer of Hankamer; daughter, Arlette Williams and husband, Randy of Hankamer; sons, John Hankamer and wife Brittany of Haslet, TX, Hank Hankamer and wife Becky of Conroe, TX; brothers, Daniel Hankamer and wife, Zelphia of Hankamer, Lester Hankamer and wife Ann of Hankamer; grandchildren, Marshall Hankamer, Jett Hankamer, Tish Hankamer, Hunter Havard, Graydon Hankamer, Garrett Hankamer, Maisen Hankamer, great-granddaughter, Fallon Havard; and a host of other family and friends.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations to be made to the First United Methodist Church of Anahuac.

Turicchi

Kenneth Edward Turicchi, 69, of Devers, TX, died Thursday January 27, 2011. He had worked as a security guard and was a member of the Baptist faith. He Served his country in the US Air Force. He was also a member of the VFW.

He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Martha Turicchi.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Turicchi; daughter, Tanya Brown and husband Bob; granddaughters, Lacey Gorsuch and Dallas Postma; Brother, David Turicchi; bother-in-law, Kevin McPherson; numerous nieces and nephews.

His family is planning a memorial service 1:00 p.m. Monday February 7, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Devers, Texas.

Lee

Jimmie L. Lee, age 86, died Friday, January 28, 2011 with her beloved family by her side.

Jimmie was born in Cleveland, Texas March 2, 1924 the daughter of the late Samuel Noble and Mattie Jane Carter Noble. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, cooking, and working in her rose garden. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands Walter Drew McGinnis and William Clarence Lee.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son George Daniel McGinnis and wife Rachel of Liberty, daughter Karen McGinnis Smith and husband Louis of Houston, sister Ida Riggs of Huntsville, grandchildren Chad Daniel McGinnis, George Dean McGinnis, Dana Ruth Flinn, Jana Ruth Moore, and Jennifer Smith Hayden, great-grandchildren, Molly Olivia Moore, Henry Joseph Hayden, Hunter Francis Hayden, Garrett McGinnis, Andy McGinnis, and Ginger McGinnis. In addition she leaves her loving friends, Carolyn McWaters, Trish McWaters, and RMaya Briel.

A visitation will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 5-7PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held 11AM Monday, January 31, 2011 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Liberty Catholic cemetery.

Jones

Rosa Lee Tanner Jones, 95, of Dayton, died Monday, January 24, 2011, at the Select Specialty Hospital in San Antonio.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the First Assembly of God Church in Dayton with burial following at Lum’s Garden of Memories in Macedonia. Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Rosa Lee was born January 29, 1915 in Cleveland, Texas, to parents, Frank and Tomie A. Lum Tanner. Mrs. Jones was a lifelong resident of Dayton area, but has resided in San Antonio for the past five years. She was a homemaker, member of the First Assembly of God Church, the Sunday School secretary for 40 years, and member of the Women’s Missionary Council. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, custom making draperies, and family gatherings.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Robert Lee Jones, sons: Clarence E. Jones and Jerry W. Jones, brothers: Carson, Archie, Fog, Lockhart, Willard, and Daniel Tanner, and sister: Lottie Mae Terrell. She is survived by her son: Earnest Jones and wife Rose Marie of Dayton, daughter: Shirley Jones Castillo of San Antonio, daughters-in-law: Dolly Jones of Baytown and Judy Jones of Dayton, grandchildren: Debbie Webb and husband Paul, Daniel Jones and wife Diane, Di-Anna Arias and husband Roger, Connie Lehan and husband Bo, Roxanna Castillo, Ernie Jones, Jr., Carl Jones and wife Glenda, Robert Cecil Jones and wife Jill, Bennie Brent Castillo and wife Wendy and 19 great-grandchildren, and several great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Bederka

Toni Rochelle Bederka, 55, of Dayton, went to her eternal rest and joined her husband Joe, January 27, 2011. She was born December, 9, 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and china painting. She was a member of the Catholic Faith. She was owner and operator of Small Blessings Shop of Dayton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bederka, Jr. and father, Sherman D. Anthony.

She is survived by her mother, Alyson Beedle Bucy; children, Rachel Novosad and husband Chris, Joey Bederka and wife Erica; grandchildren, Morgan Hales, Mikkia Novosad, Bryce Alan Bederka; sisters, Marchelle Dickinson, Alyson Wesche and husband Neil; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her family will receive friends at Sterling Funeral Home of Dayton Friday 28, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday January 29, 2011 at Sterling Funeral Home, officiated by Deacon Archie Benham.

Evans

Mary Yvonne Evans, 75, of Mont Belvieu, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at her residence. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM. Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. A gathering of Mary's family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 28th at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mary moved to Mont Belieu in 1972 with her husband of 48 years Allen W. Evans. She loved working in the yard, flowers, sewing and her family. Mary was preceded in death by husband, Allen W. Evans; daughter, Darlene Williams; her parents, Letrice and Clifton Carter; sisters, Ollie Mae Rice and Dorothy Lee Turney.

Mary is survived by her son, Larry A. Evans and wife Johnice; granddaughters, Tammy and husband David Escue, Mary Christina Blackmon, Stephanie Ann and husband Kent Suttle, Sara Marie Evans; great granddaughter, Kaydence Darlene Blackmon, great grandson, David Allen Escue; sister, Ellen Louise and husband Earl Russell; many nieces, nephews, one dear aunt, dear friends and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Lung Cancer Society.

Cantrell

Amanda M. “Pat” Payne Cantrell, 70, of Dayton, died Monday, January 24, 2011, at the Odyssey House in Conroe.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Pat was born November 26, 1940 in Camden, to parents; Herman H. and Willie M. Jordan Payne, and a longtime resident of Dayton. She was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1959, a retired telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Cantrell was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 47 years: Roy D. Cantrell, and brother: Gary “Buzz” Payne. She is survived by her daughter: Brenda L. Marsh and husband Bubba of Conroe, son: Troy Cantrell and wife Stacy of Dayton, grandchildren: Joshua L. Marsh, Lisa L. Smart, Vickie A. Marsh, Jordan B. Cantrell, Katelynn N. Cantrell, and Kayla E. Cantrell, great-grandchildren: Hayden C. Marsh, Briana N. Marsh, Dylan A. Smart, and Chett K. Smart, sisters: Barbara Watson and husband Buck of Eagle Lake and Scharlene Prazak and husband Johnny of Eagle Lake, brothers: Bobby Payne and wife Jo of Dayton and Sherman “Bo” Payne and wife Linda of Crosby, sister-in-law: Susie Payne of Dayton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Brandl

Jane Ann Brandl, 63, of Hardin, died on January 26, 2011.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011, from 5pm until 8pm at Allison Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral Services will be held, 2PM, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Hardin United Methodist Church, Hardin, Texas with burial to follow in Hardin Chapel cemetery.

She was born May 2, 1947, in Miami, Oklahoma to parents, George Perry Griffin and Goldie Dennison Griffin. She met and married her high school sweetheart, Ardell Brandl and they were married forty six years. Jane started as a teller and retired as Assistant Supervisor in Human Resources at Wells Fargo Bank. After retiring and moving to Hardin, Jane served as Assistant Nurse at Hardin Elementary School. She loved going camping, gardening, yardwork, reading but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents. Jane is survived by her husband Ardell Brandl, two sons, Timothy Brandl and wife Annette, Darryl Brandl and wife Patricia, one sister, Deborah Wesolowski and husband Stan, one brother, George “Rusty” Griffin, grandchildren, Jordan, Garrett, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Kayla, Taylor, Emma Jane.

Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Morse

Lillian Hazel Morse, 83, of Saratoga, died Tuesday January 25, 2011 at her residence.

Lillian was born October 18, 1927 in Saratoga Texas, to her parents Granville Taylor Rose and Elsie Ewing. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Saratoga.

She was preceded in death by her husband Everett Morse sons Joe Harvey Murphy and Roy Douglas Murphy.

She is survived by her sons; Wayne Murphy, Jimmy Murphy, Alan Murphy, and Larry Murphy all of Saratoga. Daughters; Diane Murphy of Saratoga, and Peggy Cantrell of Saratoga, and brother Kenneth Rose of Saratoga. Sister Mildred Ferguson of Saratoga. Lillian had Eighteen Grandchildren and Thirty- Four Great Grandchildren. and Three Great Great Grandchildren.

A service of remembrance will be held on Friday January 28, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at West End Baptist Church in Saratoga with Reverend Frank Aragon, Reverend Alvin Tomlinson, and Reverend Mike Loftin officiating.

Interment will follow at Felps cemetery in Thicket. The family will be receiving friends Thursday January 27, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. also at the church.
