Wingo

Dub Wingo, 81, of Hull, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Christus Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Batson under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow in Guedry cemetery in Batson. A gathering of Dub’s family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2011 at the funeral home.

Dub was preceded in death by his wife, Alicea Georgene Wingo; son, William Lee Wingo; parents, William Simpson and Allie Wingo Sr.; sister, Dortha Barron; brothers, Robert, A.J. and Albert Wingo.

Dub is survived by his daughters, Ethel Jones and husband Harrell, Dianne Ramey and husband Pat; sister, Arlene Self; brothers, Leroy Wingo and wife Betty, and George Wingo; and a host of other family and friends.

Wolfean

Melba Doris Wolfean, 98, of Anahuac, died on Monday, January 24, 2011 at her residence.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, at the First United Methodist Church in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Mrs. Wolfean was preceded in death by her husband, William David Wolfean of 63 years; parents, Llewellyn and Emma L. Miller; brothers, Floyd, Max, and L. Roy Miller; sisters, Bernice Miller Whitehead, Irene Miller Clore, Muriel Miller Scherer. Melba was a RN for many years.

Mrs. Wolfean is survived by her daughters, Sybil Matthews; Linda Henderson and husband Bill, grandchildren, Gayla Castleberry and husband Joe Castleberry, Tere Lynn Matthews, James Keith Sutton and, Michael C. Sutton wife Theresa Sutton; sister, Edith Miller Farmer and a host of other family and friends.

Collins

Thomas Edward Collins, 68, of Crosby, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Friday January 21, 2010.

He was born December 9, 1942 in Houston, Texas. He spent his career working for U.S. Steel. He was a member of the Baptist Faith. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed deer hunting and tending to his cows.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Vaught Collins and Louise Stoesser Collins.

He is survived by his Loving wife, Jeane Collins; sons, Kenneth Bagley and wife Dawn, Keith Bagley and wife Adriann; grandchildren, Brennan Bagley, Jenna Bagley, Nolan Bagley, Weldon Bagley, Alicia Passo, Adam Passo; sister, Iris Eaton; brother, John Collins; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His family will receive friends at Sterling Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday 2:00 p.m. at Sterling Funeral Home, officiated by Buck Eaton and Joe Carriere. Burial will follow at Magnolia cemetery in Dayton, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nolan Bagley, Brennan Bagley, Weldon Bagley, Brian Bagley, Jimmy Sansom and John Griffin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main, Dayton, TX, 77535, 936-258-2678.

Gilliland

Brenda Lee VanDeventer Gilliland, age 53, died suddenly January 24, 2011 in Liberty.

She was born in Dayton, May 20, 1957 the daughter of Jimmy VanDeventer and Barbara Wisegerber VanDeventer. Brenda enjoyed fishing, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. She last worked for the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice as an Intake Coordinator.

She was preceded in death by her father Jimmy VanDeventer.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, husband Roy Gilliland of Liberty, son Eric Gilliland and wife Crystal of Haslet, TX, daughter Erica Erskins and husband Jay of Liberty, mother Barbara VanDeventer of Liberty, sister Debbie VanDeventer of Dayton, brother Randy VanDeventer wife Shelley of Anahuac, sister Curlis Reynolds of Dayton, grandchildren, Kaylyn, Kirsten, Kinley Erskins, Landon Gilliland, Josh Nollinger, and Mason Gilliland. In addition she leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas.

A funeral service will be held 10AM Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Cooke Memorial Park.

Bock

Martha Dean Bock, 67, of Rye, Texas, died Thursday January 20, 2011 at her residence.

She was born April 23, 1943 to Wallace Nash and Devedia Hamilton Nash in Beaumont Texas She was a homemaker and had lived in Rye for seven years after moving from Pasadena and was a member of Sagemont Baptist Church of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Bock.

Survivors are her sons Randy Prewitt and wife Karen of Hardin, Ricky Prewitt and wife Ella of Missouri City. Brother Johnny Nash of Woodville, and two grandchildren Steven Sanchez of Hardin and Rachel Prewitt of Hardin.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3:00 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. on Monday January 24, 2011 .with a service of remembrance beginning at 6:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services 40847 Hwy 105 E. Batson Texas.

Harrington

Linas Harrington, 83, of Houston, died Friday, January 21, 2011 in Houston, Texas after a brief illness.

He was born September 27, 1927 in Crowley, Louisiana the second child to parents, Leon and Daisy Trahan Harrington. Mr. Harrington had lived in Dayton for 25 years before moving to Houston where he has lived for the past two years. He worked for over 32 years for the Houston Water Department as a manager before his retirement. Mr. Harrington was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dayton, enjoyed tending his animals, and had enjoyed grafting roses in his early years.

Services for Mr. Harrington will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2011 at the First Assembly of God Church, 2829 FM 1960, Dayton, Texas with Rev. Charles Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Sterling White Chapel cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562 under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas. Visitation for Mr. Harrington will 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 1304 North Cleveland, Texas 77535.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ralph and Nolan, sisters, Goldie, Bertha, and Bess, and his son-in-law, Donald LaPoint. He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Doris Faye Harrington of Houston; his children: Jeanne LaPoint, Carol Kane, Cindy Sepulvado & husband Paul, Stephen Linas Harrington, and Paula Berkley all of Houston; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Turner

A Graveside service for James Turner, 46, of Missouri City, Texas, will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, 11:00 A.M. at Wells Memorial cemetery, Liberty Texas under the direction of Wells Funeral Services, Liberty.

A native of Odessa, Texas, he was born June 2, 1964 to the late James Turner and Beverly Durden-Shaver. He attended school in Hull-Daisetta, where he was a member of the track team. He graduated from Barbara Jordan High School in Houston, TX. James was a self-employed entrepreneur overcoming many challenges. James was out-going and a pleasure to be around, always putting family first.

Visitation will be at Wells on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 P.M.

James leaves to cherish his loving memory four siblings: Arleane Turner of Missouri City, TX, Rebecca Crockett of Winchester, CA. Kevin W. Hollan of Palmdale, CA. and Cheryl Holland of Houston, TX. He also leaves this nieces and nephews: Justin Turner, Nathan Purnell, Jessica Harris, Andrew Holland, Ayanna DeVance and a host of other relatives and friends.

Segrest

Eva Pearl Segrest, 86, of Anahuac, died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Methodist Rehab in Baytown. Eva was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 22, 2011 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Interment will follow in Anahuac cemetery . A gathering of Eva's family and friends will be on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Segrest was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert George and Eddie Segrest; son, Rodney Bagley; sisters, Edna Watson and Audrey Lotz; nephew, Bo Watson. She loved reading, crocheting, gardening, cooking and being with family. She worked for many years as a secretary for Chambers Liberty County Navigation District.

Eva is survived by her son, Randy Bagley and Frieda; grandson, Shawn Bagley; sister, Lena Smith; daughter, Sherry George and husband Ray Childs; son, Bobby George and wife Billie Ruth; brother, David Congleton and wife Kit; and host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers, will be Howard Watson, Tbo Watson, Curtis Smith, Jerrod Smith, Heath Abshier, and Zach Smith.

Guy

Vivian Guy, age 88, of Daisetta, died Tuesday January 18, 2011 in Daisetta.

Mary was Born on March 5, 1922 in Crowley, Louisiana to Mr. and Mrs Pete and Evelyn Vail.

Mary is Survived by Son: William D. "Bill" Wise of Liberty, Daughter: Dale Evelyn Wise Stokes of Sulfur, Louisiana, Brother: Woodrow Vail of Dayton. Sisters Rose Warn of Daisetta, Helen Owensby of Liberty. Grandchildren are Scott Lambert of Pennsylvania, Russell Wise, Kurt Wise, Jeannette Bates, Jennifer Wise, Jon Marvin Stokes all of California, Jan Michelle Stokes Oelke of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Eight Great Grandchildren.

A service of remembrance will be held on Friday January 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at The Daisetta United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Lonnie Jordan and Reverend R.D.Treece officiating.

Interment will follow at the Guedry cemetery in Batson The family will be receiving friends on Thursday January 20, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. also at Daisetta United Pentecostal Church.

Tywater

Doris Evelyn Tywater, 81, of Daisetta, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.

She was born in Oakdale, Texas, June 8, 1929. She started her career as a school teacher then later, she earned her Masters Degree allowing her to become a librairian. She was a board member of the Hull Daisetta School District. She also served on the Daisetta City Council. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Tywater; daughter, Rose Evelyn Tywater; parents, Leroy and Ada Mae Canter.

She is survived by her sons, Lawrence A. Tywater and wife LaDell, Richard Tywater and wife Norma Jean; grandchildren, Andra Kubala and husband Ronald, Joshua Logan, Jana Baroush and husband John; great grandchildren, Ronald Kubala III, Jordan Kubala, Jacey Kubala, Eli Baroush, Jaci Baroush.

Her family will receive friends at Allison Funeral Service from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday January 21, 2011.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday 2:00 p.m. January 22, 2011 at Allison Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, Texas, 77575, 936-336-6418.

Simmons

Phillip Adrian Simmons, age 57, of Ace, Texas, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010.

He was born March 31, 1953 in Galveston, Texas to Phillip Gene and Mary Simmons.

Survivors include his loving wife, Vicki Simmons; children, Trina Rodriguez and husband, Frank; Jacob Simmons and wife, Casey, Daniel Simmons; sisters, Mary Kay Terrell, Ann Simmons; grandchildren, Ashton Rodriguez and Lana Simmons; numerous other cherished family members and treasured friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 26, 2010, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Steve Weaver and Bro. Paul Capehart will preside over graveside services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010, 1:00 p.m. at Ace Community cemetery, Ace, Texas.

Pallbearers include Daniel Simmons, Jacob Simmons, Kimmey, Alan Pereyra, Steven Pereyra, and Brine Terrell; honorary pallbearer includes Frank Rodriguez.

Dees

Berthelle Barnard Dees, 81, of Dayton, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 27, 2010, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Berthelle was born July 10, 1929 in Abilene, to parents; Joedy C. and Bertha E. Taylor Barnard, was a former resident of Woodville, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 10 years. She was a graduate of the Jefferson High School, former owner/operator of Mamas Kitchen in Woodville and the Country Y Café in Houston, and member of the Crosby Church of Christ. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, and fishing.

Mrs. Dees was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Lindy Ray Dees, and brothers: Jack and Thomas Barnard. She is survived by her sons: Gary Dees and wife Lazara of Dayton and Ronnie Dees of Kingwood, daughter: Judy Chauncey and husband Billy Joe of Crosby, brother: Earl Barnard of Alaska, 13 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Urban

John H. Urban, 64, of Dayton, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 27, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dayton with burial following at St. Anne’s Catholic cemetery in Eastgate. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with rosary services at 7 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

John was born September 12, 1946 in Pasadena, to parents; Elmo A. and Mary M. Welder Urban, and a lifelong resident of the Dayton area. He was a graduate of Dayton High School class of 1964 and Texas A & M University in 1969, achieved his masters degree at Stephen F. Austin, veteran of the US Navy, a retired Asst. Principal and agriculture teacher for Dayton I.S.D., member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, and honorary member of the Dayton FFA. He also enjoyed landscaping, reading, traveling, and following high school and Texas A&M sports.

Mr. Urban was preceded in death by his father: Elmo A. Urban, sister: Anne Urban Sproat, and mother-in-law: Rosie Fillip. He is survived by his wife: Audrey Urban of Dayton, daughters: Jennifer Urban Fowler and husband Chad of Memphis, TN, Holly Urban Schlortt and husband William of San Antonio, and Emily Urban Cottrill and husband Jim of San Jose, CA, mother: Mary M. Welder Urban, sisters: Monica Urban Richardson, Sally Urban Reyes, and Katy Urban Janner, brothers: Robert Urban and Joseph Urban, grandchildren: Andrew, Meghan, and Wyatt, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
