Davidson

Robert N. “Bob” Davidson, 81, of Dayton, died Friday, September 10, 2010, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 13, 2010, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Bob was born December 31, 1928 in Bakersfield, MO, to parents; Louis N. and Bertha E. Shipley Davidson, a former resident of Sweeny, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 42 years. He was a retired carpenter for BASCO operating at Houston L&P, and a member of the Eastgate Church. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and baking pecan pies.

Mr. Davidson was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter: Kimberly Davidson, sisters: Maxine Sanders, Margie Hargrove, and Ruby Huggins, and brothers: Ace, Herbert, Howellard, Dee, Fred, and Haskel Davidson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Jessie L. Hargrove Davidson of Dayton, daughter: Robin Davidson and husband John Howard of Dayton, sons: Bobby Davidson and wife Marilyn of Dayton and Mitchel Davidson and wife Dorothy of Batson, grandchildren: Joe and Bubba Davidson, Tracy Parrish, and Amanda Howard, great-grandchildren: Chelsea Sanders, Brookelyn and Kearston Davidson, and Cade and Alex Parrish, sisters: Almay Pritchard of AR and Frances “Tootsie” Malone of AR, brothers: Cecil Davidson of MO and Glenn Ray Davidson of MO, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Williams

Melanie Lynn Jordan Williams, 48, of Batson, died Saturday morning September 11, 2010 at her residence.

Melanie was born in Kountze Texas January 15, 1962 to J.B. Jordan and Ruth Sheffield Jordan. She had lived in Batson most of her life and had worked as a Customer Service Specialist for Walmart in Liberty.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Sheffield Jordan, and Sister Ramona Ener.

Survivors are her husband of twenty one years Mark Williams of Batson, Father J.B. Jordan of Trinity, sons Aaron Jordan and wife Brandy of Trinity, Daron Jordan of Liberty, Joshua Jordan and wife Stephanie of Hardin. Daughter Brittany Williams of Liberty, Brother Michael Jordan and wife Belinda of Riverside Texas. Sisters Brenda Patton and husband Mike of Moss Hill, Barbara Jordan of Trinity, Debra Castillo and husband Brian of Bennett Iowa, Rachel Wilkerson and husband Bobby of Chickasha Oklahoma, and Rebecca Sterling of Gatesville Texas, and Grandchildren nine.

A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday September 15, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at New Life Assembly of God church of Batson with Reverend Bill Campbell and Reverend Tolbert Hudspeth officiating, interment will follow at The Oilfield cemetery in Saratoga. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday September 14, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00P.M at New Life Church.

Parker

Richard Dale Parker, 59, of Moss Hill, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, September 9, 2010.

He was born January 28, 1951, in Baytown to Oscar Gayle and Dorothy Ann Parker. A man who never met a stranger and loved to have conversations with everyone he met. He was a 1971 graduate from Liberty High School and started working at Minimax at age 16, and also worked at Pol-Tex International, Thriftee and Dollar General for many years.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Oscar; Richard is survived by his mom, Dorothy Ann and Russell Glover; sisters and brothers-in-law; Gail and Guy Gatewood of Sour Lake; Lydia and Bobby Spirko of Mont Belvieu; brother and sister-in-law; Gary and Lisa Parker of Deer Park; nephews and nieces, Jason and Kristen Jackson, Eddie and Angel Berbarie, Randell and Jennifer Hunt, Robby Spirko, Cameron and Garrison Parker, Lisa & Jason Shaw, Christie and J.R. Ramirez who loved him. He will be remembered as a very special person in everyone’s heart that met him.

A visitation will be held Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service Chapel in Liberty. Funeral Services will be Monday, September 13, 2010, at 10 A.M. at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, with Reverend Lamar Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Cooke cemetery. Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas.

Ford

Etta A. Ford, 84, of Silsbee, formerly of Liberty, passed from this life on August 31, 2010.

Graveside services will be held at Cooke cemetery on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at ten in the morning.

She was born to parents, Clifford Swell and Flora Hawthorne in Port Arthur, TX. Etta was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed singing at local churches in the area with her husband Robert. She was a very proper lady and was always dressed to perfection.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Ford and sister Lola Pearl Reid. Survivors include her only child, Robert Ford and granddaughter, Nicole Ford.

Services have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX 77575.

Haskins

Funeral Service for Ida Mae Haskins, 86, of Hankamer, will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Baptist Church, with the Reverend Calvin Nichols, officiating with burial in Whittington cemetery, Hankamer.

A native of Hankamer, she attended public school there and was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 9AM until time of service at the church.

She leave to cherish her memory two daughters: Mary D. Haskins, of Baytown and Ida Green both of Hankamer; two sons: Delmar Haskins and Jerry Haskins; one sister: Nevelyn Thomas; two step daughters: Lura Hill and Eva Hill; a special friend; Bessie Broussard; eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Zarsky

Melinda Ann Gajdosik Zarsky, 56, of Crosby, died Saturday, September 4, 2010, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2010, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Melinda was born September 25, 1953 in Dayton, to parents; August and Martha Thompson Gajdosik, and has resided in the Crosby area for the past 16 years. She was a homemaker, graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1972, and attended the St. Anne’s and St. Joseph’s Catholic Churches. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking.

Mrs. Zarsky was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law: Henry Zarsky. She is survived by her husband of 39 years: Donnie Zarsky of Crosby, daughter: Nikki Zarsky of Crosby, sons: Justin Zarsky of Crosby, Danny Zarsky of Crosby, and Tracy Zarsky and wife Lea of Odessa, grandchildren: Ethan and Grant Zarsky of Odessa, brother: Kenny Gajdosik and wife JoAnn of Dayton, mother-in-law: Norma Ruth Zarsky of Eastgate, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Weems

Rolo Gerald “Buddy” Weems, of Liberty, died at the age of 79, on September 3, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.

Buddy was born on May 22, 1931 in Bastrop, Louisiana to parents Harold Hugh Weems and Meddie Bell Scott Weems. He was a 1949 graduate of Bastrop High School and a Golden Glove Lightweight Champion. During the Korean War he served his country proudly from 1951 until 1953 in the US Army. He returned home to be employed by International Paper Co. until retirement in 1991 as Supervisor of the Power House. He married Bettye Cheshire on July 3, 1953 and just celebrated their 57th anniversary. He was blessed with 4 daughters, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. His plate was full so therefore he loved gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of Cornerstone Church which he loved and remained faithful to until the end.

A visitation will be held Thursday, September 9, 2010, from 6pm until 8pm at Cornerstone Church in Liberty, Texas. A Going Home Celebration Service will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010, at 10:00am, at Cornerstone Church with Pastors Mike Glazener, Johnny Burk and Larry Parnell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn cemetery, Liberty, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Julius Weems, one sister, Dorothy Pauline Corban.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye Weems, daughters, Gwen Weems, Debbie Sherrell and husband Jaime, Angela Weems and Denise Walters and husband Leigh, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Rose, Breast Cancer Organization at 12700 N. Featherwood, Suite 260, Houston, Texas 77034.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas 77575.

Fregia

Walter Glen Fregia, 68, of Baytown, died on Saturday, September 4, 2010 in Odyssey Health Care in Houston.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 10, 2010 in the chapel of Allison Funeral Services in Liberty. A gathering of family and friends will be from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Ovetta Faye Compton Fregia, parents, Dan and Gladys Fregia and sister, Ina Mae Whiteley. Walter worked in the construction field and loved traveling all over the world.

Walter is survived by his daughter, Linda Smart of Pasadena; four sons and four step children; sister, Jeanette Mosley and husband Randy of Batson; brothers, James Russell Fregia and wife Maxine of Rock Port, WP “Bill” Fregia and wife Nel of Batson, David Earl Fregia and wife Marsha Lynn of Batson, Thomas Dan Fregia and wife Ruth of Batson, Brother-in-law, George “Butch” Whiteley of Batson; granddaughter, Roxanne Smart of Pasadena.

Pierson

Paul DeMartin Pierson, Jr., 52, of Baytown, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Paul was born August 21, 1957, in Garrett, Indiana, to Paul and Marie (Schoor) Pierson. Paul was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard and a nurse at the Gulf Coast Hospital and the Bay Coast Hospital. He also worked at Botanical Design Florist, Greer Florist, and Crosby Florist. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Pierson is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mitchell Pierson. He is survived by his life partner, Clayton Charlton of Baytown; brother, John Pierson of Kendalville, IN.; sisters, Theresa Younger and husband, Bobby, of Dayton, and Nancy M. Roby and husband, Dene, of Ft. Wayne, IN.; nieces and nephews, Amber, Ashley, and Cole B. Younger, Kimberly and Amanda Harris, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Johnson

Carolyn Sue Johnson, 61, died Friday, September 3, 2010 at her home in San Diego, CA.

She was born June 18, 1949 to T. O. and Allene Johnson in Dayton, Texas. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church in several cities.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Margaret Epple, and her sister, Dolores Johnson Chapman. She is also survived by many cousins and many, many good friends and colleagues. She is predeceased by her mother and father.

After graduating from Dayton High School in 1967, she went to Southern Methodist University in Dallas and graduated with a BS in Arts in May, 1971. She worked for Mobil Oil Corporation for several years, but her most cherished work was being a mother and she was a devoted mother for 21 years.

Over the years, Carolyn served in many positions in the California PTA system, both locally and statewide. She had served as President of Deer Canyon Elementary School PTA, Mesa Verde Middle School PTA and Westview High School PTA, as well as President of Palomar Council PTA. She was currently serving as President of California 9th District PTA where she had served since 2005 as VP & Director of Leadership and Executive VP.

She was an active member of Garden Clubs in all the cities where she lived and was a member of San Dieguito Garden Club and had been a member of Poway Valley Garden Club having served as its Director. She also had served as Parliamentarian for the Palomar District of California Garden Clubs, Inc. and as Corresponding Secretary for California Garden Clubs, Inc. She was also serving as Parliamentarian for the Southwestern Judges Council of California Garden Clubs, Inc. and was a National Garden Club Life Judge.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Westview High School’s Theatre under the direction of Poway-Bernardo Mortuary. The address of the school is 13500 Camino del Sur, San Diego, CA 92129. A reception will follow the service at a location to be announced.

Another memorial service will be held on Friday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Dayton, Texas under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. There will be a private burial in Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton.

Enloe

Evelyn Jeanette Thornton Enloe, 65, of Cleveland, TX died, September 4, 2010, when she won her battle against ovarian cancer.

She was born July 10th, 1945 in Liberty, TX. She was an amazing seamstress and a member of the Marvelous Matronly Mavens Sewing Group. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper for her brother at Thornton Road Boring in Tarkington. Evelyn “Nan” was devoted to her family, loved her grandchildren very much and cherished spending time with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents D.K. Thornton and Zula Gibbs Thornton, brother, Hulan Lee Thornton; sister, Ruth Morris; grandson, Terry Michael Land, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Donnie Enloe; siblings, Robert Earl Thornton and wife Lanell, D. K. Thornton, Jr. and wife Justina, Jimmy Thornton and wife Sissy, Mary Pennington and husband Gene, Syble Leblanc; children, Curt Mansel, Paula Land and husband Mike; grandchildren, Amanda Land Gonzales and husband Israel, Kolby Land, Leah Land, Ashley Mansel, Curtis Michael Mansel; step children, Lacy Enloe, Karrie Enloe, Polly Williams, Annie Murff, Jimmy Tobolka and wife Kathy, Buddy Tobolka and wife Denise, Jeff Tolbolka and wife Nerika, Jamie Bench; step grandchildren Kayden Enloe, Raylee Williams, Charlie Joe Murff, Heather Murff, Cheyenne Murff, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Sterling Funeral Home on Tuesday September 7th, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The funeral service is planned for Wednesday September 8th, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Sterling funeral Home in Dayton, officiated by Rev. Carl Williams.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kolby Land, Robby Thornton, Keith Noack, Shannon Thornton, Tony Thornton and Halley Ray Moor.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main, Dayton, TX, 77535.

Whitten

Herbert Reed Whitten, 92, of Kingwood, formally of Liberty, died on Sunday September 5, 2010.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty where he was very active and did volunteer work in the church kitchen. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Liberty. He was also a volunteer with the Spirit of Sharing group.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Elizabeth Whitten; son, Herbert Reed Whitten, Jr.; sister, Joyce Pearl Whitten.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Viola Whitten; daughter, Patricia Ann Lyle; grandchildren, Clinton Lyle, Clayton Lyle, Adam Murphy and Phillip Murphy.

The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday September 7, 2010 at Allison Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Ron Davis. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery in Houston.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Home, 1101 N. Travis, Liberty, TX, 77575.
