Rico

Hermelinda Rodriguez Rico, 53, of Huffman, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in a tragic accident.

She was born October 28, 1956 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to parents Urbano and Rafaela Mejia Rodriguez. She had been a resident of the Huffman area for the past 30 years, was a member of the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Houston, and attended ESL Classes at IT May Center in Huffman and Atascocita Library. Mrs. Rico enjoyed walking, dancing, taking care of her plants, but most of all loving and taking care of her family.

Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church in Liberty with Father Neil Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow at Huffman cemetery, 26315 FM 2100, Huffman, Texas 77336. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Rico was preceded in death by her mother: Rafaela Mejia Rodriguez and brother: Bernardo Rodriguez. She is survived by her husband of 19 years: Ruben Rico of Huffman; her sons: Teodoro Lino and wife Virginia of Huffman, Guadalupe Rico of Huffman, and Ruben Rico, Jr. of Huffman; her daughters: Diana Lino of Huffman and Sorayda Lino & Ricardo; grandchildren: Yasmene Lino, Brianna Lino, Alyssa Lino, Xavier Lino and Alayna Loera; her father: Urbano Rodriguez; brothers: Rafaela Salazar and wife Augustin of Hardin, Gilberto Rodriguez & wife Mercedes of Huffman, Ramiro Rodriguez and wife Rosa of Huffman, Salvador Rodriguez & wife Amparo of Huffman, and Jesus Rodriguez and wife Brenda of Huffman; her sisters: Graciela Rodriguez of Mexico, and Marylou Rodriguez & Roberto Avalos of Dallas; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

McGowan

Glenn F. McGowan, 85, was born and raised in Dayton, Texas, on October 4, 1925 to Herman C. McGowan and Ethel L. (Izard) McGowan. He died on August 25, 2010, at Virginia’s Lakeview Home Facility in Willis, Texas.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Nelda E. Wilkey; brothers, Silas M. and Lester V. McGowan; and Aunt Leverne Nelson.

Left behind to cherish his memory are sisters; Carolyn Elliott of Jupiter, Fl. And Nancy Gay of Conroe, TX; nephews, William N. Wilkey of Hardin, TX and Tom McGowan of Dayton, TX; nieces Linda Williams of Georgetown, TX, Diane McGowan of Dayton, TX, Janie Wilkey May of Grand junction, CO; grandniece, Elaine Williams of Georgetown, TX; and cousin, Sue Pass more of Broaddus, TX.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Linney cemetery in Dayton, TX. Glenn was a Decorated Veteran of World War II. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and all around outdoorsman. The family is sincerely grateful for the tender attention Glenn received at Virginia’s Lakeview Home Facility.

Final arrangements for Glenn have been entrusted Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N Main, Dayton, Texas.

Mitchell

John F. “Mitch” Mitchell, 69, of Liberty, Texas, died August 22, 2010 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born August 13, 1941 in Orange, Texas to parents W.W.”Son” Mitchell and Pearl Mitchell. Mitch had a passion for music and acting. He loved to play the guitar and was a song writer. After graduating from Liberty High School he went on to work as a disc jockey for KNUZ, KILT and KIKK. He was a long time resident of the Nashville, Tennessee area where he worked for many years as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor for Cumberland Heights. He returned to Liberty in 2007.

He is predeceased by his parents, wife, Evelyn Holliday Mitchell and infant daughter, Dawn Bernadette Mitchell.

He leaves behind one son, Mark Mitchell of Nashville, Tennessee, two daughters, Michelle Moyer and husband Robert Moyer, Christi Johnson and husband Stacy Johnson, both of Liberty, a sister, June Damek and husband Paul Damek of Liberty, four grandchildren, Nikki Moyer, Mitchell Moyer, Mason Johnson and Rylie Johnson, nephew Mitch Damek and great nephews, Austin and Parker Damek, long time friend Bill W. and many other close friends and relatives.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gulf Coast Hospice or Magnolia Place Healthcare or to the charity of your choice.

Fenoff

Iona Pearl Fenoff, 95, of Beaumont, died Wednesday August 25, 2010 at her residence.

A native of Barnet, Vermont, she had lived in Connecticut eighty five years before moving to Beaumont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Fenoff, Son, Richard Fenoff, Daughter, Betty Adams. Survivors are Daughter Bernice Plourdes of St. Agatha Maine, Lorraine Hersey of Beaumont. Sister and identical twin Leona Bijolle of Chester New Hampshire. Grandchildren; fifteen, Great Grandchildren; twenty three, , and fourteen; Great-Great Grandchildren. Iona was alway eager to help others even in her elder years.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who was loved very much and will be greatly missed.

Cremation handled under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services.

Lamb

Michael Rensselaer Lamb, born in San Anontio, Texas, on October 4, 1934, died in his home in Wallisville, Texas on August 25, 2010.

He graduated from Liberty High School in 1952, attended Texas A&M University, served in the United States Army, and traveled the world with a very long and productive career. He was a very active and beloved member of Middleton Memorial United Methodist Church in Wallisville, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence William Lamb and Marguerite Splane Lamb; mother-in-law, Lela Mae LaFour Crain; father-in-law, Howard Edward Crain; brother, Clarence William Lamb, Jr., and brothers-in-law, Jerry Alden Jenkins, Durwood Wayne LaFour.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia Ann Crain Lamb; daughters, Marla Ann Lamb and Lisa Kathleen Peters; son-in-law, Mark David Peters; two granddaughters, Marisa Kathleen Peters and Emily Ann Peters; two sisters, Mary Susan Lamb Jenkins and Martha Patricia Lamb Griffin and husband Oscar O'Neal Griffin, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral arrangements are being made through Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main, Anahuac, Texas, 409-267-3456.

Davis

Grady Glen Davis, 69, of Votaw, died Sunday, August 22, 2010 at his residence in Votaw.

A native of Cleveland he had lived in Votaw for fifteen; years and had worked for Dow Chemical and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Grady had proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of many years Opal Allemang Davis, brother; John Leon Davis, and his parents; Curtis Johnny Davis and Gladys Havard Davis. He is survived by his son Curtis Davis and wife Cindy of Saratoga, daughter; Theresa Childers and husband Phillip of Livingston. Grandchildren; eight, and one Greatgrandchild.

A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday August 25, 2010 at 10:00A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services 40847 Hwy 105 E. with interment to follow at the Votaw cemetery in Votaw.

The Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday August 24, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Chapel.

Final arrangements for Grady Davis are by Faith & Family Funeral Service of Batson, TX.

Tanner

Norman Tanner, age 86, died peacefully Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his home with his beloved family by his side.

Norman was born in Hardin, September 10, 1923 the son of the late George Washington Tanner and Ina Lou LeNormand Tanner. Norman enjoyed dancing, fishing, and gardening especially growing his prized tomatoes and peppers. A US Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII, he was a life member of the Liberty VFW Post #5621. Norman was also a Loyal Order of Moose member of Pasadena with Moose Lodge #1721 and Moose Legion #68. Upon graduation from Hardin High School in 1941, he went to welding school, and worked as a welder for over thirty years for Texas Gulf Supher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Josie Tanner, son Bruce Lindsey Tanner, brother Richard J. Tanner and his sisters, Lillie Tanner and Myrtle Karkowski. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters Charlene V. Tanner of Houston, Diana Cunningham of Webster, Peggy Hickman of Liberty, Virginia Bean and husband Larry of Batson, sisters Valentine Killion of Dallas and Evelyn McGehee of Harper.

In addition he leaves nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Norman will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Monday August 23, 2010 from five o’clock in the afternoon till eight in the evening at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral services for Norman will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at two o’clock in the afternoon at the funeral home, burial to follow the service in Guedry cemetery, with full military honors.

Mills

Raymond Boyd Mills, Sr., age 79, of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, August 13, 2010.

He was born at Camp Ruby, Texas on July 10, 1931 to Leon M. Mills “Little Paw” and Corine Zettie Mills “Little Granny” along with his brother, Glendon Mills and sister, Janice Ray Mills.

Survivors include his brother, Larry Lee Mills; sister, Sue Carol Rivera; children, Raymond Boyd Mills, Jr., Thomas Glen Mills and wife, Pat, Bobby Joe Mills Sr., grandchildren, Annette Raye Mills, Bobby Joe Mills Jr. and wife, Michelle, Melissa Ann Mills Lacey Rae Mills-Page and husband, Dan, Zaina Rayne Mills; great-grandchildren, Peyton Rock Page, Justin, Mellanie, Jacob, and Josh Grider, Riley Ray Davis; numerous other cherished family members and treasured friends throughout the years.

Memorial service were held Friday, August 20, 2010, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas; Dr. Byron Reeves presided over services.

McCall

Homer McCall, 78, of Old River, died on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010.

He was a member of Old River Assembly of God. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. His sense of humor was unmatched.

He was born in LaPanto, Ar., on July 13, 1932, to Hallie Warner. He was a longtime employee of Payne & Keller Construction, and later, Certified Technical Services.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn Lynette McCall; son, John Stephen McCall; mother, Hallie Denny and brothers, Golden Joe McCall and James Denny.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Alice McCall; children, Harold McCall (Pam), Sandra Campbell (Kenny), Charles McCall, Sharon Hargraves, Kathy Price (Mike), Karl McCall, Ruth McIntosh (Charles). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, and many relatives and cherished friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Old River Assembly of God, 40 County Road 401, Dayton, TX 77535, with Rev. James Mills, Rev. Gene Summers and Rev. Dave McLennan officiating.

Flowers may be sent to the church beginning on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at 10 a.m., until 3 pm, and until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Rd., Baytown, TX 77521.

Riley

Arthur Gilbert Riley, was born July 21, 1921 in Humble, Texas, to the late Gilbert Arthur and Edna Holmes-Riley and died August 19, 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Juanita Riley-Littleton, brothers Virgil Norvil (Pete) Riley and Howard E. Riley, grandson, Edward Tyrolt Riley and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Riley.

He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Mae Riley, son Arthur Winston Riley of Daisetta, daughter Amy Sullivan and husband Richard of Carthage, grandchildren Carmen Riley-Ashe and husband John, Blake Riley, Richard Sullivan and wife Christy, and his great-grandchildren Ryan and Caitlan Ashe.

Arthur moved to Hull, TX for one year and Daisetta, TX in 1924. He lived three years in Dayton, TX then settled in Daisetta until October, 2007 at which time he moved to Carthage, TX. On February 2, 1942 he married Johnnie Mae Hickman, and in Sept. 1942 enlisted and proudly served in the US Navy Seabees. His service included 2 ½ years in Southwest Pacific Area and Okinawa in the 46th NCB and 24th NCB and was honorably discharged on Nov. 26, 1945. After his military service he worked in the oil industry and retired from Bethlehem Steel in Beaumont, TX as a pipefitter in March, 1984. He was a member of Central Baptist Church – Daisetta, graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School in 1940, has been a member of Hull Masonic Lodge #1193 since 1958 and received his fifty year award in January, 2009. He served as Worshipful Master in 1978 – 1979, and as a member and past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

A funeral service will be held eleven o’clock in the morning, Mondy, August 23, 2010 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial to take place in Guedry cemetery.

Allison

Elizabeth Faye “Beth” Allison, age 89, did peacefully in Liberty, Monday, August 16, 2010 with her loving family by her side.

Beth was born in Shreveport, LA, August 12, 1921 the daughter of the late John Frederick Doerge and Nina Lee Warner Doerge. Beth moved to Liberty in 1945 and later founded and co owned, Allison Funeral Service, Inc. with her late husband Reuben A. Allison. Beth remained a licensed funeral director for over fifty years.

She leaves behind her beloved family, a son Michael A. Allison and wife Susan of Liberty, daughter Scherry A. Allison of Liberty, sister Elinor Mae Lindsey of Kingwood, and a granddaughter Ashley Burton and husband Casey of Dallas.

Beth was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a granddaughter Lisa Allison.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from five till eight o’clock in the evening at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis, Liberty, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 19, 2010 at ten o’clock in the morning at First United Methodist Church, Liberty, Texas. Burial to immediately follow the service in Liberty City cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Magnolia Healthcare Center Activity Fund, 1620 Magnolia, Liberty, Texas.

Brummett

After taking the good Lord’s hand on Saturday, August 14, 2010 Jo Ann Brummett’s gentle soul was led from this world to her awaiting paradise.

She was born May 16, 1931 to Buddy and Addie Jorden who preceded her in death as well as her beloved husband of thirty-eight years, Arthur Brummett and her sister and brother-in-law Rose Mary and Jesse Taylor. Jo Ann was a longtime valued employee of Exxon-Mobil in Houston. Upon retiring she enjoyed spending her time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son Ernie Arrington and wife Peggy; daughter Donna Rives and husband Jack; grandchildren; Kara Ann Schulte and husband Josh; Chad Arrington and wife Ashley; great-grandchildren Kendall Schulte and Layton Arrington.

Serving as pallbearers, Oran Meacham, R.B. McDonald, Josh Schulte, Jack Rives, Chad Arrington, and David Leonard, honorary pallbearers will be the First United Methodist Church Women’s Bible Class.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at ten o’clock in the morning at First United Methodist Church, with visitation to be held one hour prior. Burial will take place in Cooke cemetery. Allison Funeral Service has been entrusted with the arrangements.
