Rose Proctor 71, of Saratoga died Tuesday April 13, 2010 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

A native of Daisetta she had lived in Saratoga, and was a homemaker.

She is survived by Husband: Tex Proctor of Saratoga, Son:Virgil Proctor of Dayton, Daughters:Rose Proctor and husband David of Gist, Debra Hendrix and husband Clint Sr. of Saratoga, Tamye Fregia and husband Bruce Sr. of Daisetta, Becky Jeanes and late husband Dwight, Fiance Darrell Seal of Thicket, Anna Studensky and husband Mike of Hull. Brother Tennie Dagle Jr. of Liberty, Sisters: Barbara Ballard of Hardin, Ellen Gaston and husband James of Hull, Norman Jean Fontenot of Liberty. Grandchildren: Eighteen, Great Grandchildren: nine.

A Service of remembrance will be held Thursday April 15, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services in Batson, with Reverend Alvin Tomlinson and Reverend Linnie Pruitt officiating.

Interment will follow at Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday April 14, 2010 beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

Smith

Jeremy Smith, “Jay”, 29, of Cove, Texas, was killed in a motorcycle accident on April 11, 2010. He was born December 1, 1980, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

A man with a heart as big as Texas, Jeremy was a non-judgmental, sensitive, caring, compassionate, giving, artistic, intelligent, free spirit. He loved animals, California beaches, and the outdoors. An especially good uncle, Jeremy was a loving–and beloved–family man. He never met a stranger and was a friend to many. Positivity was a way of life for him; he always looked on the bright side.

Jeremy was a computer whiz. People-person that he was, he worked for many years in the restaurant business at everything from waiting tables to managing.

Preceding Jeremy in death were his grandparents and his aunt, Janice Yates.

Left behind to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are the parents who reared him, mother, and daddy, Devra and Kent Lowe, of Cove; father, Bobby Smith, of Evadale; brother, Robert Smith, and wife, Wendy of Orange; sister, Erin Russell, of Webster; nephews, Brent and R. J. Conway; niece, Kylie Smith; cousin, Christopher Yates; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation with friends and family will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Sterling Funeral Home. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 16, at the funeral chapel with Pastor Ray McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Anahuac cemetery.

Final arrangements for Jeremy have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main, Anahuac, Texas

Cooley

Reginald Leo Cooley 64, of Hull died Sunday April 11, 2010 at his residence.

Born July 14, 1945 in Longville Louisiana to Leo Cooley and Ouida Lee Mitchell. Reginald was a Supervisor for eight years for Conex International Corporation of Beaumont. He also was an Oilfield worker where he started when he was fourteen years of age working in fields around Batson and Liberty County. Reginald had lived in Hull since 1991 moving from Ragley Louisiana where he lived many years.

He was preceded in death by son; Darrell Cooley and sister; Patricia Cooley.

He is survived by his mother; Ouida Cooley of DeQuincy, Wife; Joyce Cooley of Hull. Son; Reginald Leo Cooley Jr of Arkansas, brothers; Glenn Cooley and Jerry Cooley both of Dequincy. Sisters; Alisha Thompson of Ragley Louisiana.

A memorial service will be held Saturday April 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M.at Central Baptist Church in Daisetta.

Cremation service under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson.

Snider

Samuel Elmer Snider 83, of Daisetta died Sunday April 11, 2010 at East Houston Regional Medical Center in Houston.

A native of Many Louisiana he had lived in Daisetta many years and was a retired Welder working in the Construction industry . Samuel was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WWII and Korean conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Asbury Snider and Lily Pearl Swendell, two brothers; Jessie Snider and A.A. Snider, and sister, Ethel Lowe.

He is survived by Sons; Samuel ”Sammy” Snider of Tyler TX, Randy Snider of Atoy TX, daughters; Sandra Snider of Nacogdoches TX, Kimberly Ballentine of Atoy TX. Brothers; Albert Snider of Georgia and Herman Snider of Pasadena TX. Sisters; Molly Dorrell of Lumberton TX, Amanda Small of Wildwood. Grandchildren six, Great grandchildren, seven.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday April 13, 2010 at 10:00A.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services in Batson, with Reverend Bill Campbell officiating interment will follow at Egypt cemetery in Chester. The family will be receiving friend Monday April 12, 2010 beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family.

Final arrangements for Samuel Snider are under he direction of Faith & Family Funeral Service of Batson, TX.

Johnson

Vernon M. “Mike” Johnson, 62, of Alvin, died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Guedry cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mike was born August 2, 1947 in Shreveport, LA, to parents; William V. and Geneva Dendy Johnson, and has resided in the Alvin area since 1988. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School class of 1966, a project coordinator for Englobal for the past four years and previously employed by H. B. Zachary for 20 years of employment. He also enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, and boating.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father: William V. Johnson and father-in-law: Larse Q. Carouthers. He is survived by his wife of 29 years: Linda Carouthers Johnson of Alvin, sons: Michael “Dee” Johnson of Shreveport, LA and Brandon Smith and wife Melanie of Friendswood, daughters: Angela Rivers and husband Wilton of Littlerock, AR, Kimberly Hay and husband Mike of Shreveport, LA, and Tiffany Moore and husband Theo of Alvin, mother: Geneva Dendy Johnson of Shreveport, LA, mother-in-law: Helen Carouthers of Batson, sister-in-law: Mary Mattson of Batson, brothers-in-law: Darrel Carouthers of Batson and Marvin Carouthers of Houston, nine grandchildren with one on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Birge

Robert L. Birge, Sr., of Onalaska, the son of the late Nannie Faye (Largent) and Claude Birge, was born June 14, 1929 in Goose Creek, Texas, and died April 3, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Hardin, Texas and lived there for over 21 years.

Mr. Birge was a carpenter from the old school. He enjoyed working with his hand saw and draw knives to create a piece of art. He enjoyed envisioning what he could make from a piece of wood or a tree. He was a very active person, always going and never still. He loved nature and feeding his squirrels.Mr. Birge was proud of his southern heritage. He was a carpenter and retired from Local 1334 Union out of Baytown and worked in Southfork, CO doing log construction and building with logs. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Birge of Onalaska; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. Birge, Jr. of Leona; James R. and Jennifer Birge of Hardin, TX; Michael and Erin Teague of Clarmore, OK; Donald Ray and Beverly Teague of Suphail, OK; Dale and Erica Teague, of Clarmore, OK; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a lot of friends.

Mr. Birge was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lassie Joan (Dry) Birge; daughter, Alvera Faye Thomas; and half-brother, Claude E. Birge.

Pallbearers will be his sons, grandsons and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in Fielder cemetery in the Bald Hill Community with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Luther Bolenbarker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Fielder cemetery.

McCreight

Helen McCreight 79, of Moss Hill died Saturday April 10, 2010 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.

Helen was born to D.M. Compton and Lula Mae Shanks Compton in South Bosque Texas on December 30, 1930 and was an homemaker. She and her husband were formerly of Lake Jackson where they lived for fifty years before moving to Moss Hill where they lived for about six years.

She was survived by her husband; Marshall McCreight of Moss Hill, Sons; Rex McCreight of Moss Hill and Stanley "Stan" McCreight of Brighton Michigan. Sister; Pat Niles of Houston, granddaughters; Dawn Ann Shaw, Amber McCreight, grandsons; Marshall and Luke McCreight.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday April 14 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness located at 2030 Brazosport BLVD North in Richwood, Texas.

Cremation services handled under the care of Faith & Family Funeral Services.

Perry

Funeral service will be held for A. C. Perry, 83, of Dayton, Texas on Saturday April 10, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Dayton, with Reverend Emery Maxwell, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.

A native of Dayton, he was a rice grower. He died Friday, April 2, 2010 at Magnolia Place Nursing Center in Liberty.

Visitation will be held from 9 am until time of service at the church. A.C. is survived by his sister: Ella Redmond; two daughters: Edith Mallet and Barbara Antoine, all of Dayton and a host of other family and friends

Johnson

Funeral service will be held for Lyndon Baines Johnson, 43, of Liberty, Texas on Saturday April 10, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Liberty, with Reverend Marvin Etheridge, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.

A native of Liberty, he did construction work. Lyndon died, Friday, April 2, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Visitation will be held from 12 noon until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his parents: Dennie and Leatrice Johnson, of Ames; two children: Ashawndra Johnson and Britton (BJ) Johnson, both of Raywood; one sister: Evelyn Jefferson of Baytown; two brothers: Arron Johnson of Rayne, Louisiana and Dennie Johnson, Jr. of Ames and a host of other relatives and friends.

McCaa

William (Billy) Wayne McCaa, “Paw”, born October 2, 1932 to parents Ola and Gray McCaa in Waynesboro, Mississippi, died Tuesday, April 06, 2010 with his wife, Bettie Jean Pritchett McCaa and family by his side, at his home in Humble, Texas.

Billy Wayne spent two years in active duty of the Armed Forces and six years in the Reserves, from 1953-1961. He was a member of the Humble Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years. He married Bettie Jean Pritchett on December 14, 1956. He and wife Bettie built their lives in Humble and started “Cabinets by McCaa”. Billy Wayne was an expert carpenter, having built the home he and his wife raised their children in. He spent his life amongst family and friends. Building the “WarWagon” would serve as the base for many BBQ events and cook-offs. If Paw wasn’t cooking, building cabinets, or anything else someone might need, you could probably find him fishing anywhere from Lake Conroe down to Guerrero, Mexico.

William is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Pritchett McCaa; daughters, Donna Sopchak and husband Ron and Alisa Bullock and husband Matthew; sons, George McCaa and Karen McMillian and Wendell McCaa; grandchildren, Kyle Sopchak and wife Kari, Kristina Bruns and husband John; Kara Spangler and husband Dustin, Jason Bullock and wife Heather, Brandon Bullock, Nolan McCaa, and Jenny and Wendi McCaa; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Addison and Kylea Sopchak, Landon Bruns, Logan Spangler, Asher Bullock, and James Haugen.

A visitation for family and friends will be from six until nine o’clock in the evening Thursday April 8th at Deerbrook Baptist Church, 400 Main Humble, Texas.

A service of remembrance will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon Friday April 9th at Deerbrook Baptist Church.

Arrangements for William have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service 1101 N Travis St Liberty, Texas.

Shannon

Margaret Evangeline Miller Shannon, 92, of Coldspring died Sunday, April 3, 2010 in Conroe. She was born October 13, 1917 in Nashville, Tennessee to parents William Carl and Cordelia Wackerman Miller. She had been a long time resident of Beaumont and Liberty.

Services for Mrs. Shannon will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, Liberty with interment to follow at Cooke cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, April 9, 2010 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 1304 North Cleveland, Dayton. Pallbearers will be Lynn Shannon, Don Shannon, Craig Shannon, Patrick Shannon, Michael Shannon, and Claude Harding.

Mrs. Shannon was preceded in death by her husband Carlton Lynn Shannon and her survivors include three sons: Lynn Carlton Shannon and wife Alma, Don Michael Shannon and wife Beverly, and Craig Miller Shannon and wife Janice; sister: Gladys F. Bennett; brothers: Walton H. Miller, William K. Miller, and Robert G. Miller; grandchildren: Patrick Shannon, Cindy Watts, Michael Shannon, Kelly Shannon-Clark, Melissa Valentine, Daniel Shannon, and Christy Smirl; ten great-grandchildren; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Hollingsworth

Terry Wayne Hollingsworth 32, of Liberty died Saturday April 3, 2010 in Liberty County.

A native and lifelong residence of Liberty, he was a self employed handyman.

A graveside service will be held Thursday April 8, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty with Reverend Janet Havener officiating. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday April 7, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson 40847 Hwy 105 E.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; Albert Jackson Hollingsworth and Frances Claudeen Havener Hollingsworth and brother; James Ray Hollingsworth. Survivors are brother; Robert Hollingsworth of Liberty. Nephew; Riley Anthony Hollingsworth of Liberty, niece; Alyssa Landry of Dayton and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. Terry will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Final arrangements for Terry Hollingworth are being handled by Faith & Family Funeral Service of Batson, TX.

Wiggins

Cynthia Kaye Wiggins, 53, of Liberty died Monday, April 5, 2010 after an extended illness. She was born March 26, 1957 in Cleveland, Texas, had been a lifelong resident of Liberty, and worked in Seabrook for BISC as a journeyman. Ms. Wiggins enjoyed decorating, crafts, and flowers. She was a member of the Bibleway Pentecostal Church and one of the first members of the Thriftee Pink Relay for Life Team.

Services for Ms. Wiggins will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Bibleway Pentecostal Church with Bro. Adolph Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the church.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother: Fredia Mae Clark Tanton. She is survived by her parents: Martha and Doyle Tanton of Liberty; her daughters: Janie K. Burns of Brenham, Brandi Tayfa of Alabama; sisters: Earlene “Bugs” Banning of Crosby; Sharlotte Thompson and husband Dewit of Liberty and Torri Vincent of Baytown; brothers: Tommy D. Nance and wife Jennifer of Baytown, James Leslie Crockett of Austin and Sparkey Tanton and wife Jeanelle of Batson; two grandchildren: Anisia and Andreas Tayfa; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
