He was born to the late George and Flora (Chapman) Scott on August 27, 1930 in Worcester, Massachusetts. David served our country in the Korean Conflict before being hurt.

He worked in the oilfield for years until he fell out of a derrick. His membership was at Church of God of Prophecy.

Perhaps fishing for men caused David’s love of fishing for the catfish, trout and any other variety God created, or maybe it was the other way around . . . Either way, he reveled in the friendly competition he and daughter, Mary Ann enjoyed countless hours of, while each on the other end of a fishing pole.

He also had a love for music, was a part of ‘Soul Seekers’, the families amateur singing group and even as he lay dying, God gave him several songs.

David was a Bible reading, believing, Christian servant who prayed as a warrior. He was a very mission-minded, giving individual who shared his table with numerous families over his lifetime. This delightful family man had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed ‘picking on people’ and telling jokes. As one very comfortable in the outdoors, David always made sure the hummingbirds and squirrels always had food. He was a good chess player and in more recent years enjoyed Pac Man, or computer games such as hearts and solitaire. Even while David’s health was declining due to the cancer overtaking his body, he still had an incredible work ethic. Many would never have guessed he was sick by the way he would work.

Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Earl, Walter, Calvin and Nelson Scott; and sisters, Dorothy Lamson and Helen Meyers.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his three children; daughter, Mary Ann Scott, son, Jerry Lawrence Scott and wife, Laura, and daughter, Connie Sue Craig and husband, grandchildren, Brian and Heather Scott, Jonathan Craig and wife, Jennifer and Cassandra Craig; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Craig Jr and Kaylee Craig; Larry; brother, Robert Scott; sister, Ruby Scott; and Liz Burlin, whom he considered a daughter.

Visitation with family and friends will be four o’clock in the afternoon until six o’clock in the evening, on Sunday, March 14, at Sterling Funeral Home. His funeral service will be ten o’clock in the morning, Monday, March 15, at Sterling Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow at Fairlawn cemetery. The minister officiating will be Bishop Robert Brantley with Pastor Kevin Kleinhenz assisting. Pallbearers will be Jonathan and Ronnie Casey, Jonathan Craig, Brian Scott, and Karl and Shayne Smith.
