Mullins

Carrie Lynn Macey Mullins, 58, of Waynoka, OK, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 in Dayton.

She was born July 14, 1951 in Houston, Texas, to parents, Robert W. and Clenna Levy Macey. Carrie graduated from Aldine High School in 1971. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Waynoka, Waynoka Saddle Club and was Mrs. Claus for Waynoka Christmas for six years. Carrie liked living in Waynoka, and gave of herself to the people that knew her.

She provided lots of laughs for everyone and she will truly be missed. Carrie had worked as a nursing home volunteer and at El Charros, she also enjoyed scrapbooking, her Mickey Mouse collection, and caring for her animals.

Services for Mrs. Mullins will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Hollywood cemetery Chapel, Houston, TX. The family will receive friends Monday, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, TX.

Mrs. Mullins was preceded in death by her husband: Allen Mullins and her nephew: Joshua Macey. She is survived by her parents: Robert and Lanell Macey of Houston; her daughter: Tiffany D. Lane and Scott Pruitt of Dayton; her step-daughter: Kim Watkins of Oklahoma; her step-son: Travis Mullins & wife T.J. of Utah; her grandchildren: Danny Gaskamp, III, Bryan Gaskamp, Marrisa Gaskamp, and Haven Gaskhamp; great-grandchild: Landen Lee Gaskamp; her brother: Velton D. Macey of Houston; her nephews: Jeremy & Jacob Macey.

Vestal Sr.

Billy Allen Vestal Sr., age 66, of Rye, went on to be with the Lord on August 20, 2009.

Services are Tuesday, August 25 at 10 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Liberty. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 24 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis in Liberty. A Rosary will be held on Monday, beginning at 7 P.M.

Billy was born Houston, TX on November 18, 1942. He married his wife of thirty-two years, Suzanne Vestal in Las Vegas, NV. on January 29, 1977. He loved fishing, sports especially the Texans and the Astros and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Anthony Vestal and brother, David Vestal. Billy is survived by his wife, Suzie, sons; Mark Vestal and wife Sue, William Vestal and wife, Danae and Billy Vestal Jr. and wife Tammy; daughter, Dennie Hill, Wendy Goodman and husband, Rick and Veronica Roth and husband, Marlan and stepmother Virginia Vestal Tate and husband, Ken. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren: Tammy Scheittecatte, Melissa Done, Katrina Done, Chelsea Vestal, Blake Vestal, Dalton Carpenter, Chianne Puckett, LeAnn Hill, Cody Goodman, Kati Mae Goudman, Destiny Roth, Noah Roth, Corey Roth, Mason Roth, Kiley Roth, Hailey Vestal and Billy Vestal III and twelve great grandchildren: Jayson, Cassandra, Kelsee, Damien, Dominie, Joshua, Xander, Aryan, Charlie, Kaithlyn, Cameron, and Kendall.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575

Middleton

Jaynie Beth Bell Middleton, 53, of Mont Belvieu, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 in Baytown, after an extended illness. She was born January 11, 1956 in McRae, Georgia, to parents Hershell and Lillie Mae Smith Bell. Before moving to Mont Belvieu, she lived in Hull-Daisetta. Mrs. Middleton was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, she enjoyed crocheting and being with her pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Deena Boudreaux, two brothers Doug and Rodney Bell, and sister Annette Howard. She is survived by her husband of 35 years: Claude “Chuck” Middleton of Mont Belvieu, and brother: Paul Tewell of Georgia.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.

Humber

J.D. Humber, age 79, died August 21, 2009. He was born in Moss Bluff, on September 13, 1929 the son of the late D. Humber and Nellie Worthy Humber. He was a self-employed rice farmer who enjoyed deer and duck hunting. He was wed on March 18, 1957 to his beloved wife, Elaine West Humber.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents as well as a sister, Margarite Bricker.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Elaine Humber; sons, Paul Humber and his wife Candy, Ricky Humber and his wife Leah, and Randy Humber and his wife Karen, as well as a daughter Rhonda Humber, his niece, Patti Williamson and his nephew, James Bricker. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Will Humber, D. Humber, Haley Regian, Miranda Alford, and Madison Regian his three great-grandchildren; Keaton Humber, Colton Alford, and Kelsey Alford and his caretakers for over five years, Peggy Guillory and Kenneth Simmons.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas 77575.

A graveside service will be held Monday, August 24 at 10A.M. at the Worthy cemetery in Liberty with Bro. V.R. Hylton and Bro. Chuck Bradford to officiate.

Herrington

Tex Ann Herrington, 71, of Anahuac, died on Thursday, August 20, 2009.

A visitation will be held for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 21 from 5-8 P.M. at the Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, August 21 at 10 A.M. at the Anahuac cemetery.

Tex Ann was born in Palestine, TX to parents, Joseph Roosevelt and Mary Tex LaRoe Alexander on March 26, 1938. She attended Palestine High School, Sam Houston State College and Stephens College in Missouri. She was a member of the Methodist Church, active in American Home Dept. of Fine Arts and E.S.A. Society, served as an election Judge and a past member of the hospital board. She enjoyed travel, shopping, Antique auction and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her husband, Roy Herrington Jr.; sons, Joel Herrington and wife Jeannie and Allen Herrington III and wife Louise; daughter, Melissa Thomas and husband Vance and Special Friend Audrey George(Thanks to a special Angel). Also surviving are six grandchildren, Brian Herrington, Brad Herrington, Jordan Thomas, Rush Herrington, Payton Herrington and J.B. Mikeman and three great grandchildren, Chase Estes, Gracelyn Herrington and Ty Herrington.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer society and the Anahuac ISD Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Johnson

Graveside services for Nancy Johnson, age 62, of Lindale, are scheduled for 4:00 PM Sunday, August 23, 2009 in the Norris cemetery near Dayton, Texas. Interment will follow under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors of Lindale.

Mrs. Johnson was born September 2, 1946 in Baytown, Texas the daughter of Dobbs and Viola (Anderson) Wakefield. She passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Johnson had lived in the Lindale area since 1988 moving from Highlands, Texas. She was a member of the Friends of the Lindale Library, a charter member of the Lions Club, and a Methodist.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Charles Johnson of Lindale; daughter, Connie Beadles and husband Andrew of Grand Saline; son, John Johnson and wife Monica of Grand Saline; sisters, Jimmie Sue Thibodaux of Conroe, Vickie Bell of Vista California, Debra Hammond of Amarillo; mother, Viola Wakefield of Vista, California; 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home, 206 W. South St. Lindale, Texas 75771 and Sunday from 1-3 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, 1304 N. Cleveland, Dayton, Texas 77535.

Dagle

Robert Allen Dagle, 39, of Liberty, Texas, died Monday, August 17, 2009 surrounded by his family.

He was born October 10, 1969 to Tennie Dagle, Jr. and Ella Louise (Nugent) Dagle. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very skilled at leather and woodworking.

Robert is preceded in death by his grandparents; Walter and Louise Nugent. He is survived by his parents, Tennie and Ella Louise Dagle, Jr. of Liberty; brothers, Jerry Dagle, Walter Dagle and Kenneth Nugent all of Liberty; aunts, Peggy Nugent and Rose Mary Nugent both of Liberty; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19th at Wilderness Church of God in Liberty. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 20th at 10:00 AM at Wilderness Church of God with interment to follow in Monroe Fregia cemetery.

Dowdell

Ruth Mary (Frémin) Dowdell, 85, of Kerrville, Texas, died Sunday, August 16, 2009.

She was born on July 15, 1924 to Alexander and Verna (Ellis) Frémin in Thibodeaux, Louisiana. Ruth was a great teacher of the Bible. She was a resident of Kenefick for 30 years before moving to Center Pointe, Texas. She was a member of Kenefick Southern Baptist Church. She was fiercely independent, a great leader, detective and interrogator, and a fabulous grandmother and cook. During WWII she was one of Rosie’s riveters. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert DeJohn; sons, Allan Francis DeJohn and Earl James DeJohn; and sister, Laura Mae Gallager. She is survived by her husband, Edmond Dowdell of Kerrville; daughters, Judy Charles and husband Albert of Kerrville, Cathy Myers of Kerrville, and Debbie Coffman and husband Larry of Fort Worth; brother, Alexander “Sonny” Freeman and wife Margie of New Orleans, LA; sister, Ruby Prudhomme of Onalaska; grandchildren, Troy Charles, Sharon Fifield, Carmen Sterns, Michael Paul Dodge, Michelle Hector, J.J. Werner, Misty DeJohn, Amber DeJohn, and Audra Coffey; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from seven until nine o’clock in the evening Tuesday, August 18th at Sterling Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at ten o’clock in the morning Wednesday, August 19th at Sterling Funeral Home with interment to follow in Palms Memorial Park. Final arrangements for Ruth have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home 602 N Main St. Dayton, Texas 77535

Lloyd-Vaughn

Funeral Services will be held for Betty Jo Lloyd-Vaughn, 57, of Dayton, Texas on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Eastgate Church, 1707 CR 611, Dayton, Texas at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Gerald Hilley, Pastor, officiating, Rev. Keith Turner, Eulogist, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery, Liberty.

A native of Sulphur, Louisiana, she was a graduate of Dayton High School, and a graduate of Prairie View A. & M. University at Liberty. A member of Eastgate Church, she was correctional officer for Texas Department of Correction.

She died August 15, 2009 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown after an illness.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbert Vaughn of Baytown, her mother: Betty Lou Johnson of Dayton; step-father: Harvey Johnson of Dayton; two sons: Laurice Lloyd, Jr. and Isaac Lloyd, both of Dayton; three daughters: Veronica Valant of Dayton, Jessica Lloyd and Cassandra Valant, both of Baytown; four brothers: Charles Robinson of Liberty, Allen Robinson, Sr. of Baytown, Oscar Ray Robinson and Earnest Robinson, both of Dayton; two sisters: Doris Cormier of Liberty and Gwendolyn McQueen of Baytown and a host of other relatives and friends.

Burch

Charles W. “Chuck” Burch, Jr., 74, of Kenefick, died Sunday, August 16, 2009, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009, at the Old Center cemetery in Center. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Chuck was born November 1, 1934 in Omaha, NE, to parents; Charles W., Sr. and Lois Lyle Burch, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in the Kenefick area for the past 37 years. He was a graduate of the Lutheran High School of Houston, a veteran of the US Army, a retired machinist for Armco Steel of Houston, and member of the Kenefick Southern Baptist Church. He also enjoyed fishing, travel, and bowling.

Mr. Burch was preceded in death by his parents, great-granddaughter: Faith Psensik, parents-in-law: Bobby G. and Lila Mae Schwartz, brother-in-law: Jim Kruk, and niece: Dawn Kruk. He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Martha e. Schwartz Burch of Kenefick, daughters: Kimberly O’Neal and husband Bryan of Dayton, Kathy Brackin of Dayton, and Kristy Coursey and husband Herbert, Jr. of Liberty Hill, grandchildren: Keith, Amber, Jessi and husband Travis, Charles, Cody, Justin, and Elizabeth, great-grandchildren: Milo and Ayden, sisters: Charlene Kruk of GA and Diane Burch of The Woodlands, brothers and sisters-in-law: Duane and Reene Hooper, Gerald Hooper, Bobby and Betty Schwartz, and Dean and Cathy Schwartz, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Rawls

Robert D. “Don” Rawls, 69, of Kenefick, died Friday, August 14, 2009, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Don was born August 26, 1939 in Jasper, to parents; R. J. and Edith Wiggley Rawls, and has resided in the Kenefick area for the past 30 years. He was a graduate of the Buna High School class of 1958, a veteran of the US Navy with service during Korea and Vietnam, and a retired electrician with Brown and Root after 32 years of employment. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Mr. Rawls was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Bettie Sue Cravy Rawls, and brothers: Elton and Thomas Rawls. He is survived by his daughter: Donna Jimenez and husband Eddie of Dayton, sons: Thomas Rawls and wife Michelle of Kenefick and Robert Rawls and wife Grace of Dayton, grandchildren: Jo Anna Murphy, Christina Nicholson, Tiffany Rawls, Hailee Rawls, Jas Jimenez, and Kayla Rawls, great-grandchild: Krysalynn Winters, sister-in-law: Jo Ellen Currie of Rusk, brother-in-law: Dale Cravy of Corpus Christi, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Barrow

Melvin Leroy Barrow, 92, of Anahuac, died Wednesday August 12, 2009. He was born in Hankamer on August 2, 1917 to Reuben and Fannie Barrow.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Kenneth and Curtis Barrow. He is survived by his wife Etta Barrow; daughters, Glenda Henicke and husband Raymond of Bishop, Texas; grandchildren, Marilyn Sauceda and Gary Henicke; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from one until three o’clock in the afternoon Saturday, August 15th at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A service of remembrance will be held at three o’clock in the afternoon at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac on Saturday, August 15th with interment to follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Melvin’s final arrangements have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home 1201 S Main St Anahuac, Texas 77514.

Seay

Robert G. “Bob” Seay, 82, of Kenefick, died Thursday, August 13, 2009, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil funeral Home in Dayton.

Bob was born July 14, 1927 in Dew, to parents; Henry L. and Dora Bradford Seay, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in Kenefick for the past 19 years. He was a veteran of the US Merchant Marines, Army, and Air Force, a retired operator for Armco Steel of Houston, and former Democratic election judge. He also enjoyed wine making, fishing, woodworking, and drawing cartoons.

Mr. Seay was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Dorothy “Jean” Ladet Seay of Kenefick, sons: Jerry Seay and wife Kathi of Round Rock, Jim Seay of Highlands, Bradford J. Seay of Houston, and Jean Seay and wife Marilyn of McMan, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Hopper

Robert J. “Jerry” Hopper, 68, of Dayton, died Friday, August 7, 2009, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral; Home in Dayton.

Jerry was born June 24, 1941 in Katy, to parents; Jackson C. and Nina I. Brinkley Hopper, was a former resident of Conroe, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past four years. He was a veteran of the US Army, retired heavy equipment operator, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Hopper was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters: Dawn Cagle of Atascocita, Cheryl Goodwin and husband Dan of Dayton, and Dana Lawson of Slocum, brother: James Hopper of Conroe, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
