A native of Fairfield, CA, he lived in Thicket, for the past 5 years and worked for Nabors Drilling in Houston.

Survivors include his wife Linda Papin of Thicket, Sons; Nicolas Papin, Joseph A. Papin Jr all of Thicket, Alexander Papin II from Texas, Stepsons; Henry and Justin Winters of Silsbee, Daughters; Harley Winters of Thicket and Alisha Marino from California, Father; Alexander Papin and wife Linda of Nacotish, LA, Mother; Gladys Dowden and husband Ed of Gatesville, TX, Brothers; Jonathan Papin of Leesville, LA and Joshua Papin of Hornbeck, LA, Sister; Katrina Smith of Anacoco, LA, Stepsister; Sarah Hodges of Tampa, FL.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday June 23, 2009 at Mt. Pisgah cemetery in Woodville, TX, with interment to follow.

DeDear

Gerald Wayne DeDear, 55, of Liberty, Texas, died Thursday, June 18, 2009.

He was born on June 30, 1953 in Cuero, Texas to Jerry and Lillie DeDear. Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Texas Hold’em, and dominoes. He loved his family and friends and was affectionately known as “Dear Dear”.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Shirley DeDear; daughter, Samantha Nicole DeDear Ritz and husband James; parents, Jerry and Lillie DeDear; sister, Donna Wakefield and husband Wallace; brothers, Vernon DeDear and wife Marsha and Don DeDear and wife Angela; grandchildren, Trey and Rebecca; nephews, Jerry Wakefield, Jeff Wakefield, David DeDear, Jason DeDear, and Stephen DeDear; and numerous more relatives and close friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from five until eight o’clock in the evening Sunday, June 21st at Allison Funeral Service. A service of remembrance will be held at Allison Funeral Service on Monday, June 22nd at ten o’clock in the morning with interment to follow in Fairlawn cemetery.

Final arrangements for Gerald have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N Travis, Liberty, Texas 77575.

Gibson

Calvert Floyd Gibson, 88, of Anahuac, Texas, died Saturday, June 20, 2009.

He was born on October 6, 1920 in Beaumont, Texas to William O. and Annie L. Gibson, Sr. Calvert was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Anahuac and was an active member there since 1941. He also was a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Lions Club. During WWII he worked in the shipyards in Orange to help support the troops. He retired from Texas Gulf Sulphur Company in 1982. In 1996 he was named Person of the Year by the Anahuac Chamber of Commerce.

Calvert is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Analene Karr of Houston; brothers, W.O. Gibson, Jr. of Liberty, Leroy J. Gibson and wife Dorothy of Aurora, Colorado, and Ronald E. Gibson of Whitney; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from six until eight o’clock in the evening on Monday, June 22nd at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A service of remembrance will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, June 23rd at the First Baptist Church of Anahuac with interment to follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Arrangements for Calvert have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S Main St., Anahuac, Texas 77514.

Pate

Christopher Dwayne Pate, 17, of Moss Hill, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 in Anahuac, TX.

A native of Crockett he live in Hardin most of his life and was a senior at Hardin High School.

Survivors include his father: Gerald Wayne Pate and stepmother Melissa of Cleveland, his mother: Megan Treece and stepfather Ronald of Hardin; Brother: Casey Pate of Hardin, and stepbrother: Ronald Treece of Tucson, AZ; Sisters: Ashley and Christian Pate of Hardin; Grandparents: Gerald and Denise Pate of Cleveland, Leonard and Margaret Ball of Conroe, Pete and Karen Bryant of Milano, TX, Robert and Peggy Allee of Trinity, and Betty Hale of Hardin.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Moss Hill, with Reverend Wade McKinney officiating. Interment to follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin.

A gathering of his family and friends will be held Monday June 22, 2009 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Scholtz

Geraldine “Jerri” (Majors) Scholtz, 83, of Liberty, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. Vitiation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jerri was born September 5, 1925 in Tarkington Prairie, to parents; Johnnie and Edgeworth Morris Majors, and has resided in the Hardin area throughout her life. She was a homemaker, member of the Hardin Baptist church and the Hardin Baptist Church Roadrunners. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, road trips, gardening, and visiting and helping others.

Mrs. Scholtz was preceded in death by her parents, step-father: Bodie B. Watson, her previous husband: Web Burks, husband: Herman Scholtz, daughter: Mary Cox, sister: Selma Lilley, and brothers: Jessie, Jasper, B.B., and Franklin Majors. She is survived by her daughters: Linda Osteros of Lampasas and Willardine Burks of Beaumont, son: Daniel Burks and wife Karen of Hardin, sisters: Ava Williams of Tarkington Prairie, Mae Fregia of Batson, and Jean Eakins of Batson, grandchildren: Jason, Justin, and Kaitlyn Burks, Tammie Musser, Beau Osteros, and Richard, Jr., David, and Kathy Cox, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Smith

Johnny Dwayne Smith, Sr., 58, of Dayton, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Johnny was born November 10, 1950 in Pasadena, to parents; John D. and Viola Biscamp Smith, a former resident of Pasadena, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past five years. He was a maintenance supervisor for Handy Hardware in Houston with 15 years of employment, a graduate of Pearland High School, had attended San Jacinto Community College, and enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, automobile restoration, and taking in the country.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father: John D. Smith, Sr. and son: Johnny D. Smith, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 15 years: Martha Williber Smith of Dayton, daughters: Polly Delane Berlitz of Pearland and Tamrin Bouden of Montgomery, step-daughter: Melissa Bertling Ramsell of Crosby, step-son: James Bertling of LaPorte, mother: Viola Biscamp Smith of Pearland, grandchildren: Carina, Ethan, and Emily Ramsell, Christopher Bertling, Jensen Berlitz, and Tiffany, Courtney, and Zack Bouden, brothers: John D. Smith, Jr. of Houston, Tim Smith of Pearland, Jeff Smith of Spring, and Mark Smith of Pearland, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Murphy

Terry Lee Murphy, 61, of Dayton, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Houston National cemetery Chapel in Houston with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Terry was born March 27, 1948, in Mansville, OH, to parents; Frank and Willa Lea Sanders Murphy, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 11 years. He had attended San Jacinto Community College, was a veteran of the US Marine Corps with service during Vietnam, a retired truck driver for Martin Transport, and enjoyed model ship building, fishing, photography, and computers.

Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his father: Frank Murphy, nephew: B.J. Stevens, and great-nephew: Phillip Murphy. He is survived by his wife of 11 years: Marilyn Stephens Murphy of Dayton, mother: Willa L. Sanders Murphy of Dayton, sisters: Theresa Murphy of Dayton and Sherry Stevens and husband Bobby of Houston, brother: Sheron Murphy of Dayton, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Sawyer

Kelly “The One” Henry Sawyer, 37, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009 in Dayton, Texas. He was born December 17, 1971 in Houston, Texas, to parents: Frederick Keith Sawyer, Sr. and Linda Janelle Biddle Sawyer.

Services for Sawyer will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday at Pace- Stancil Chapel.

Kelly was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his mother and step-father: Janelle B. and Robert Lawrence; his two daughters: Krista Irene Cox/Lancaster and Autumn Theil; his son: Sammy Lee; brother: Frederick Keith Sawyer, Jr.; step-sister: Laura Ward; nephews James Ward, Justin Sawyer, and Austin Williams; nieces: Samantha Youngblood, Kasi Allison, Kaila Sawyer, Kelsey Williams, and Megan Williams.

Higginbotham

Minnie Margararete (Hatcher) Higginbotham, 80, of Coldspring, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in Friendswood, Texas. She was born May 20, 1929 in Houston, Texas to parents Floyde Edward and Minnie Margarete Collier Hatcher.

Service form Mrs. Higginbotham will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Mrs. Higginbotham was preceded in death by her husband, George Chester Higginbotham. She is survived by her son: Thomas Edward Pope & wife Linda; her daughter: Karen Lynn Tidwell & husband Michael; her grandchildren: April Schoonover & husband Rusty, Cindy Savell & husband John, Melissa Arnold & husband Robert, James Pope & wife Cheryl, Melissa Crowder & husband Steven, and Melanie Johnson & husband Steve; her great-grandchildren: Tyler Tucker, Faith Pless, Alexandra Crowder, Devin Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Grace Johnson, Brandon Pope, Kelli Pope, Rusty Schoonover, Aaron Schoonover, Megan Blant, Alex Savell, April Savell, Adam Savell, Maria Arnold, & Douglas Arnold; her great great-grandchild: Zoey Windish.

Pozyski

Christine Julia Kubeczka Pozyski, 94, of Cleveland, died Monday, June 15, 2009 in Liberty, Texas.

She was born May 23, 1915 in Brenham, to parents: Joseph and Helen Gurka Kubeczka. Mrs. Pozyski had lived in Houston for many years before moving to this area in 1998. She had worked for Southern States & American Optical before retiring and she enjoyed doing carpentry and home repairs.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2009 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Dayton with Father Jim McClintock officiating. Interment will follow at Lum Garden of Memories. Visitation for Mrs. Pozyski will be from 1:00 p.m., Thursday until the service at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Ted Pozyski, the father of her children: Vernon Ladd, son: Irvin Ladd, daughter: Grace Ladd; son-in-law: Patrick “Pat” Stein; grandson: Pat “Bubba” Stein; sisters: Cecelia and Gertie and brothers: Eddie and Adam. She is survived by her daughters: Fern Stein of Tarkington, Dorothy Whisman and husband Al of Liberty; son: Lee Ladd of Liberty; grandchildren: Cindy Worsham, Kennie Arnold, Patti Doucette, Alvin Whisman, and Jenny Redden; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; brother: Alex Kubeczka of Alvin; sister: Beatrice Frudengprung of Rosenberg; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Blair

J.B. Blair, age 91, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, at his home in Conroe.

J.B. was born in Dallas, March 9, 1918, the son of the late Joe Jeff Blair and Buna Carr Blair. J.B. served the U.S. Army for fifteen years. When he joined he was in the Horse Calvary where he retained the rank of Sergeant First Class. He became a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving last on a Special Advisory Committee. He later went on to work for Chambers County as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement many years later. He enjoyed working out in the yard, wildlife, fishing, and going to the park with his family.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lavern Groves and Opal Blair Ridel.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of fifty-four years Ruth Blair, son Larry Wolfe and his wife Gayla of Harmony, PA, daughters Loralea McManus and her husband Hector of Conroe, Diane Blair-Stevens of Woodlands, sons Sherwood J. Blair and his wife Belinda of Anahuac, and John Blair and his wife Mary of Kountze, a brother Sherwood Blair of Hankamer, as well as sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He will sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-8pm at the Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Anahuac, Texas. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Anahuac cemetery with Rev. Richard Hensley to officiate.

McCreight

Loyce McCreight, 85, of Hull, died Sunday June 14, 2009 at Silsbee Convalescent Center in Silsbee.

A native of Big Sandy she lived in Hull many years and had worked in the retail business in the Liberty area for many years.

She was preceded in death by Sister; Aline Carouthers. Survivors are Son; Wayne McCreight and wife Bunny of Batson, Sister; Helen Carouthers of Daisetta. Grandchildren; Curtis McCreight, Chris Tomlinson.

Great grandchildren; Parker Wray, Stacy Dickson. A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday June 17, 2009 at 10:00A.M. At Faith & Family Funeral Services 40847 Hwy 105 E. Batson, with interment to follow at Holly Grove cemetery in Votaw. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday June 16, 2009 beginning at 5:00 P.M. Until 9:00 P.M. At the funeral home.

Neslony

Annie L. Thorne Neslony, 79, of Cleveland, died June 14, 2009, at the Conroe Regional Medical Center in Conroe.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the Calvary Baptist Church with burial following at the Cleveland Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Annie was born November 27, 1929 in Houston, to parents; Elmer J. and Alice White Thorne, was a homemaker, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Neslony was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Edmund Neslony, Sr., her parents: Elmer and Alice Thorne, sisters: Reba Wright, Imogene Thorne, and Ruba Thorne, and brother: Wayne “E.J.” Thorne. She is survived by her daughters: Rebecca L. Beaty and husband Ricky, Phyllis A. Henry and husband Leonard, and Paula R. Ammerman and husband James, son: Raymond E. Neslony, Jr. and wife Robin, sister: Worthy A. Harrell, grandchildren: Nicole K. Parker and husband J.K., Rebecca A. Blackler and husband Dan, Joshua A. Smith and wife Andrea, Eric G. Ammerman and wife Capria, Richard A. Beaty, II, Rebecca R. Beaty, Ryan E. Neslony, and Raegan E. Neslony, great-grandchildren: Jackson T. Parker, Bailey B. Smith, Joseph J. Blackler, and Eve D. Blackler, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Phillips

Ann Elizabeth “Betty” Boelhauwe Phillips, 87, of Dayton, died Thursday, June 11, 2009 in Kingwood, Texas.

She was born December 29, 1921 in San Antonio, Texas to parents Charles T. and Jennie Wuhrmund Boelhauw, attending San Antonio schools and graduating from Thomas Jefferson High. After retiring from the IRS she and her late husband Horace Glenn Phillips moved to Dayton where she has lived for the past 22 years. Betty was always very active, enjoying her family and their activities, making sure all was well with her neighbors and friends while enjoying their true friendships.

Service for Mrs. Phillips will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jon Stouffer officiating. The family will receive friends 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her son: David Charles Phillips and wife Jackie of McKinney; her daughter: Linda Edwards and husband Bob of Dayton; her grandchildren: Brian Scott Edwards and wife Michelle of San Antonio; David Andrew Edwards and wife Leslie of Fort Worth; Charles Clayton “Clay” Phillips of McKinney; Kelley Ann Phillips of McKinney; her great-grandchildren: Joshua Gage Edwards and Tristan Garret Edwards both of San Antonio, Andrew Steele Edwards and Claiborne Elizabeth Edwards both of Fort Worth; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
