Joe Darrell Bonanno, 2, of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009. He was born August 4, 2006 in Humble, Texas, to parents: Sean and Anna Sheridan.

Services for Joe Darrell will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Graveside Service will be 10:30 a.m., Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the Boldsprings cemetery in Polk County.

We love you baby and we miss you so much… we will never forget our little angel. Our beautiful baby boy is remembered by his loving parents: Sean and Anna Sheridan of Dayton; his little brother: Michael Sheridan of Dayton; his grandparents: Sandy Zapp and husband Harry of Kingwood; Cleo and Mary Sheridan of Dayton; Great-Grandmother: Maxine Warnke; Aunts and Uncles: Matt & Margie Sheridan, Jason & Amber Sheridan, Jennifer & R.J. Galaes, Julie & Keith Tusing, and B.J. & Judy Burrnett; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

DuBois

Mrs. Gussie Stelly DuBois, 86, formerly of Moss Hill, wife of the late Odilion DuBois, died late Monday evening in Arroyo Grande, California.

Mrs. DuBois was a long-time member of Moss Hill Baptist Church, and also enjoyed attending Hardin Baptist Church with her sister, Beatrice Sharp.

She is survived by her sister, along with son Alvin Lee DuBois and his wife Jean, Daughter-In-Law Ella Ann DuBois (wife of the late Calvin Roy DuBois, Sr.), and daughter Gloria Jane Blackshear and her husband Ricky, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 15th at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas, at 3:00 in the afternoon. Visitation will be at Sterling on Sunday afternoon from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

Nicholls

Thomas Edwin “Ed” Nicholls, 84, of Liberty, Texas died Tuesday, June 9, 2009.

He was born on April 2, 1925 to Thomas Henry and Emily (Pollard) Nicholls in Kearsarge, Michigan. He was an Elder at Liberty Church of Christ. Ed enlisted and was honorably discharged from the United States Air force. He enjoyed doing yard work and spending time with his family.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George Nicholls and William P. Nicholls. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Nicholls; daughter, Beverly Antilley and husband David of Beaumont; son, Michael E. Nicholls and wife Lisa of Sugarland; grandchildren, Jeremy Antilley of Abilene, Jason Antilley and wife Christy of Conroe, Kristy Bircher and husband Chad of Houston, and Matthew Nicholls of Sugarland; great-grandchildren, Allyson Antilley, Blake Antilley, and Hunter Bircher; and numerous more relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, June 11th from five until eight o’clock in the evening at Liberty Church of Christ. A service of remembrance will be held at ten o’clock in the morning Friday, June 12th at Liberty Church of Christ with interment to follow in Cooke cemetery. King

Lillie Mae (Elkins) King, 86, of Devers, Texas, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 9, 2009.

She was born on October 3, 1922 in Devers, Texas, to Jim William and Maude (Hayes) Elkins. Lillie Mae met the love of her life, John “Willie” King, at age 50 and was married on her birthday five years later. She taught school for over 30 years in Devers and China. Lillie Mae was a member of the First Baptist Church in Devers. She enjoyed life and loved to laugh. Lillie Mae will be remembered for her love her family and friends.

Lillie Mae was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband John “Willie” King; five brothers, Albert, Billy, Peck, Jack, and J.C.; and two sisters, Letha and Daisy Lee. She is survived by her nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; and her great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was love and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation for family and friends will be from five until eight o’clock in the evening Friday, June 12th at Allison Funeral Service. A service of remembrance will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, June 13th at Allison Funeral Service with interment to follow in Stacey cemetery in Devers. Whittington

Funeral Services will be held for Bert “B.W.” Whittington, 84, of Anahuac, Texas, on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at St. James United Methodist Church, Anahuac, Texas, at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend L. C. Speights, officiating, Rev. Mary Shotlow, Pastor, with burial in Rivon cemetery, Anahuac, Texas.

A native of Anahuac he was owner of Whittington Plumbing & Electrical Company, a graduate of George Washington Carver High School, a veteran of the United States Army, and a deacon of the St. James United Methodist Church.

He died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, after an illness.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by one son: Bert W. Whittington, Jr. of Houston; one daughter: Nancy Whittington of Baytown; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Baldwin

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Theresa Rosalee (Jenkins) Baldwin, 77, of Houston, Texas on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Liberty, Texas at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Monsignor Patrick R. Wells, celebrant, with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery, Ames, Texas.

A native of Liberty she attended Liberty Training High School, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She Tuesday Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

She is survived by four sons: Rickey Baldwin, Ames, Dexter Baldwin, Alonzo Baldwin, Fritz Baldwin all of Houston; one daughter: Charlene Baldwin of Houston and a host of other relatives and friends.

LeBlanc

Alan Christopher LeBlanc, age 42, Henderson, TX, died Monday, June 8, 2009.

Alan was born October 17, 1966 in Dayton, TX. He graduated from Dayton High School and was a longtime Dayton Resident Alan died at the Tyler Medical Center in Tyler, TX, after a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his father Alley LeBlanc.

He is survived by his mother Wonda Gene LeBlanc of Baytown, TX, wife Lynn LeBlanc, brother John E. LeBlanc & wife Suzy of Longview, TX, Five children-Daniel, Candice, Lance, Alley Jo & Garrett And numerous aunts, uncles, cousins & many friends

Funeral services will be held Friday June 12, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. under the direction of the Crawford-A Crim Funeral Home, 1414 S. Main St., Henderson, TX. 75654

Joiner

Harvey Reid Joiner, Sr., 80, of Liberty, TX, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A native of Galveston, TX, he had lived in Liberty, many years and was retired out of the Oilfield Industry as a Roughneck.

He is survived by his loving wife; Joyce Joiner of Liberty, Sons; Harvey Reid Joiner, Jr. and wife Donna of Liberty, Joe Joiner and wife Kathy of Liberty, Alton Joiner and wife Nita of Batson. Daughters; Reida Joyce Glover and husband Herbie of Jasper, Martha Ann Willis and husband “Bull” of Batson. Grandchildren; 10, and Great grandchildren; 16.

A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday June 10, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services 40847 Highway 105E. Batson TX, with Reverend Lonnie Jordan officiating.

Internment will follow at Holland cemetery in the Holland settlement north of Kountze, TX. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday June 9, 2009 from 4:00 P.M. Until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Barrett

Richard Barrett, 96, longtime resident of Hardin, died on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at a Liberty nursing home after a brief illness.

He was born Chesley Richard Barrett, Jr. in Hardin on September 24, 1912 to Chesley Richard (C.R.) and Louis Virginia (Christian) Barrett. He attended the Lakeland school from grades 1 through 9 and finished his last two grades at Liberty High School. As a young man, he went to work as an extra at Empire Oil and Gas where his brother Forrest was employed. After two years there, Richard went to work for Mecom Oil Company for 43 years, beginning as a roughneck and working his way up to driller. He spent the last few years of his career as a pumper in Daisetta. He was married to Miss Naomi Bingham on July 10, 1939 and accepted the Lord a couple of years later, uniting with the First Baptist Church of Hull. They moved back to the home place at Hardin in 1952, at which time they moved their letter to Hardin Baptist Church. He was ordained as a deacon on October 22, 1961 and served in that capacity until his retirement.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Forrest Barrett; three sisters Mollie Miller, Velma Doucette and Verna Tullos; and his wife of 65 years, Naomi Barrett.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Bill & Kris Barrett of Spring TX; grandsons Robert C. Barrett of Bryan, TX and Eric K. Barrett of Bastrop, TX; and great-grand-daughter Rebekah Leigh Barrett of Bryan. He is also survived by nieces Joyce Davis, Betty Koen, Dorothy Ambrose and Bonnie Fontenot, all of Hardin; and nephews Melvin Doucette of Old River and Alton Doucette of Pasadena, TX.

Visitation will be Monday, June 8th from five until eight o’clock in the evening at Allison Funeral Service. Funeral services will be at ten o’clock in the morning, Tuesday, June 9th at Hardin Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hardin Chapel cemetery.

Arrangements will be under the direction of Allison Funeral Service 1101 N Travis St. Liberty, Texas 77575.

McMurrey

Joseph L. McMurrey, 89, of Dallas, died Saturday, June 6, 2009.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June9, 2009, at the Oakwood cemetery in Coldspring. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Joseph was born December 6, 1919 in Coldspring, to parents; William M. and Ada Cruse McMurrey. He was a retired county judge for San Jacinto County, received his law degree from Baylor University, and had attended Texas A & M University.

Mr. McMurrey was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Virginia Cashion McMurrey, son: William “Bill” McMurrey, daughter: Joan McMurrey Lane, nephews: Earl Beasley and David McMurrey, nieces: Marilyn Cashion Matthews, Barbara McMurrey Hyde, Beverly McMurrey, and Jennifer Cashion McBride, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Brown

Merle Bullock Brown, 82, of Shepherd, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, in Shepherd.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Farley Chapel cemetery in Shepherd. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the First United Methodist Church in Cleveland. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland.

Merle was born February 14, 1927 in Stonewall, MS, and was a retired court clerk for Harris County.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents: Ollie B. and Jessie Lee Danzie Davis. She is survived by her husband: Claude M. Brown, Sr., son: Marc Brown and wife Ginny, grandchild: R. J. Brown and wife Tracy, great-grandchild: Tiny, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Ramos

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph Ralph Ramos, 83, of Spring, Texas, on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Raywood, Texas at 10:00 A.M. with the Reverend Father Charles Atuah, Pastor, celebrant, with burial in Sacred Heart cemetery, Raywood, Texas.

A native of Houston, he was a graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School, mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service, a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He died on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at his residence after an illness.

Visitation will be held from 8:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years: Willa Mae Ramos, of Spring, four sons: Joseph Ralph Ramos, Jr. of Houston, Roland A. Ramos of Corpus Christi, Peter A. Ramos of Cypress, and Paul Ruben Ramos of Raywood; three daughters: Malvina Howard and Rebecca Robinson, both of Spring, Maria Elaine Jaskolka of Conroe; one brother: Thomas Ramos of Raywood and a host of other relatives and friends.

Corley

Johnnie Ray Corley, 91, of Liberty, formerly of Emory, Texas, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Kingwood Medical Center of Kingwood.

A native of Logansport, Louisiana, he had lived in Liberty, and was a retired self employed Truck Driver and a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his Son: Douglas Ray Corley and wife Linda of Tarkington Prairie; Daughters: Carol Janis Dozier and husband Jerry of Liberty, Kathy Lynn Williamson and husband David of Shreveport Louisiana. Grandchildren: eight, Great grandchildren: sixteen.

Cremation service under direction of Faith & Family Funeral services 40847 Highway 105 E. Batson. Interment will follow at a later date at Mountain Park cemetery in St. Joe, Texas.

Compston

John Harvey “John John” Compston, Sr., 72, of Hull, died Friday, June 5, 2009, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

John was born May 30, 1937 in Northeast Texas, to parents; Harvey F. “Truckie” and Grace G. Smoot Compston, and has resided in the Hull area throughout his life. He was a graduate of the Hull-Daisetta High School, had attended the University of Houston, and was a retired roughneck for Shivers Oil Field Services. He also enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and watching the Astros.

Mr. Compston was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Paul Bond. He is survived by his daughters: Pam Compston and husband Robert Fatherree of Hull, Grace A. Boothe and husband Larry of Dayton, and Johnnie Burns of Austin, son: John H. Compston, Jr. of Daisetta, grandchildren: Herbert R. Morgan, Jr., Eric R. Morgan, Karessa L. Morgan, Jami Burns, Cory Burns, Kimberlie Harlan, and Dustin W. Boothe, three great-grandchildren with two great-grandchildren on the way, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
