Blanchard

Christopher Michael Blanchard, 56, of Hardin, Texas, died Friday, May 8, 2009. He was born on January 21, 1953 to Lewis and Mildred Blanchard in Portsmouth, Virginia. Chris was a carpenter by trade but loved to read books, bargain shop, and garden. He loved people and would talk to anyone that would listen for hours.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents; and a son Michael Tanton. He is survived by the love of his life, Billie Beth Tanton; daughters, Elizabeth Tullock and husband Thomas and Jennifer Cash; sister-in-law Leslie Russell; brother in-law Terry Russell and wife Stefanie; grandchildren, Shelby Storey, Landon Storey, and Jaycob Tullock; and numerous more relatives and close friends.

A visitation will be from six until eight o’clock in the evening Monday, May 11th at Allison Funeral Service. A Celebration of Life will be held at ten o’clock in the Morning Tuesday, May 12th in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service with interment to follow in Hardin cemetery.

Arrangements for Chris have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N Travis, Liberty, Texas 77575.

Miller

Normand Edgar Miller died early Saturday, May 9, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. He was 78 years old and has been a resident of Cleveland, Texas, for nearly thirty years.

Normand was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on June 29, 1930. He was preceded in death by parents Wesley S. and Yvonne R. Miller and a brother Warren Edmond Miller of Moultrie, Georgia.

He served his country in the USAF for some 16 years and is veteran of the Korean War. At retirement, Normand was a mechanical-electrical technician with Rucker Products, Conroe, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, computers, and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Della Louise Miller, a brother Leonard R. Miller of Camden, Arkansas, two sons David L. Miller of Cleveland Texas and Jim G. Miller of Dayton Texas, four grandchildren Chad Miller of Splendora, Texas, Michael Miller Crystal Ferguson, and Andrew Miller, all of Dayton, Texas, 12 great-grandchildren, plus numerous other relatives and friends.

Integrity Funeral Home of Houston, at Normand's request, will perform cremation. A private memorial service for family and close friends will follow, pending notification of all family members.

Jenkins

Funeral Service will be held for Alfred Perry “Big Al” Jenkins, II, 47, of Dayton, Texas, on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Trinity Valley Baptist Church, Liberty, Texas at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Marvin Etheridge, Pastor, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Liberty, he was a graduated from Liberty High School, and worked as a superintendent for the pipeline industry. He was a member of Trinity Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

He died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Kindred Hospital Houston after an illness.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Consuela Jenkins, of Dayton, Texas; one son: Alfred P. Jenkins, Jr., of Humble; four daughters: Kendra Jenkins and Keisha Parkinson, both of Humble, Shanice Burks, and Haven Scott both of Dayton; four sisters: Yolanda Jenkins, and Dana Jenkins, both of Dayton, Anita Jenkins of Baytown, and Jo Lynn Domain of Ames; two brothers: Yul Jenkins of Baytown and Robert “Bubba” Jenkins of Dayton, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Nelson

Vivian Nelson, 92, was born in Richton, Mississippi, on July 14, 1916 and died on Thursday, May 07, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 42 years, R.W. “Dick” Nelson, where they were long-time residents of Dayton and Crosby. Vivian had many God-given talents, enjoyed a variety of hobbies and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Liberty VFW Post, as well as State District President of that organization. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Crosby.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, her grandson Donnie Simmons, and her great-grandson Sorrell Fregia. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Hodges and son-in-law Earl of Houston; granddaughters, Carin Simmons of Brenham and Dennie Fregia and husband Eddie of Hardin; and great-grandsons: Justin and Cameron Simmons. Justin and his wife, Erin, blessed her life with three great great-grandchildren: Chloe, Naomi, and Isaac. “Bibby” was an active participant in her five generations.

At her request, there will be a private graveside service at Evergreen cemetery and at that time a celebration of her life will be conducted by her great nephew: Rev. Dick Lintelman and his father, F. H. Lintelman. A musical tribute will be done by Jerry Cox. Vivian will always be missed by her devoted family and many friends.

Cartee

Jerry Dale Cartee, 64, of Sour Lake, died Monday May 4, 2009 at his residence.

A native of Alexandria LA, Jerry had lived in Sour Lake many years and was a heavy equipment operator for Knife River Company also of Sour Lake.

Survivors are his wife; Loretta Cartee of Sour Lake, Sons; Doss Dillard of Sour Lake, Clay Dillard, of Lumberton. Daughter; Terri Stroud of Collins Ms, Sisters; Kay Letscher and husband Bill of Ft. Worth, Judy Barton and husband Jay of Mt. Pleasant and Wanda Koterba and husband Gordon of Ft. Worth. Grandchildren; eight, Great-grandchildren; two.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday May 9, 2009 at 10:00A.M. at Pine Ridge Baptist Church of Sour Lake with interment to follow at Pine Ridge cemetery also of Sour Lake.

The family will be receiving friends Friday May 8, 2009 starting at 5:00 P.M. Until 8:00 P.M. Also at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to; M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030.

Madden

W. M. Madden, 82, Hardin, Texas, passed away Monday, May 4, 2009. He was born on January 24, 1927 to Well and Alta (Smith) Madden in Oak Grove, Louisiana. W. M. was a “Jack of all Trades”. He was born on a farm and went back to farming after he served in the United States Navy for three years. He then later retired from Brown and Root as a supervisor.

W. M. is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey and Jimmy Ray; sisters, Opal, Lois and Frankie Lee. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Lois Janet Madden; five sons, Tommy Madden of Deer Park, Mickey Madden of Baytown, Danny Madden and wife Janie of LaPorte, Kenny Madden and wife Debbie of Cottonwood, Tennessee, and Allen Madden; sisters, Lorene Hickman of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Miriam Chain of Hardin, Annie Pearl of Talluah, Louisiana, and Paulette of Louisville, Mississippi; brother, Tom Wesley Madden of Hardin and John Wiley Madden of Louisville, Mississippi; grandchildren, Tess Baker, Lance Madden, Michelle Straight, Andrea L’Esperance, Jason L’Esperance, Nicole Lewis, Abidi Madden, Bubba Madden, Toby Madden, Wesley Madden and Joey Madden; great-grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Trevor, Briann, Clarissa, Austin, Raylin, Brody, and Daisy; daughter-in-laws, Sharon Madden and Dorothy Madden; and numerous more relatives and close friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from six until eight o’clock on the evening on Friday May 8 at Sterling Funeral Home. A service of remembrance will be held at Sterling Funeral Home at ten o’clock in the morning Saturday, May 9 with interment to follow in Palms Memorial Park. Final Arrangements for W. M. have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main St, Dayton, Texas.

Jordan

Victor L. “Vick” Jordan, 72, of Houston, died Monday, May 4, 2009. He was born June 6, 1936 in Tylertown, Mississippi to parents Rufus Fillmore and Maybelle Huffman Jordan.

He served during Korea and Vietnam in the United States Navy and his last duty assignment was aboard the USS Nimitz. Mr. Jordan was a member of the First Assembly of God in Dayton where he served as a member of the Board and enjoyed all church activities. Before retirement he worked in security at Sam’s Distribution Center.

Services for Mr. Jordan will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Pierce officiating. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. at Houston National cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Edna Johnson and Beatrice Garrett, and his brother: Hugh E. Jordan. Vick is survived by his wife of 41 years: Dorothy L. Wiley Jordan of Houston; his daughter: Terri Dodson of Dayton; his son: Jerry A. Jordan of Houston; two grandchildren; sister: Myrtle Stewart and husband Henry of Louisiana; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church, Dayton, Texas.

Tellez

Jose R. “Joe” Tellez, 45, of Dayton, died Sunday, May 3, 2009. He was born December 7, 1963 in Mercedes, Texas to parents Raul and Maria Del Carmen Zavala Tellez. He had lived in this area for the past six years after moving from Alvin where he had graduated from Alvin High School. Joe worked as a claim investigator in the insurance field.

Services for Mr. Tellez will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Baytown, Texas.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until services time on Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow at LaPorte cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Mr. Tellez was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law Belvin Berges. He is survived by his wife of 21 years: Suzann Parker Tellez of Dayton; his daughters: Bianca Marie Tellez and Nyah Lee Tellez both of Dayton; his sons: John Michael Tellez and Joshua Paul Tellez both of Dayton; sisters: Maggie Sepulveda of Pearland, Olga Rodriguez and Tammy Tellez both of Alvin; brothers: Homer Tellez of Alvin and Homer Tellez of Brownsville; mother-in-law: Alice Berges of LaPorte; father-in-law; Hewey Parker and wife Debbie of Dayton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Polk

Florine “Too” Stayton Polk, 99, of Dayton, died Friday, May 1, 2009 in Houston after a brief illness.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Polk will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Dayton, with the Rev. Jon Stouffer officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Mrs. Polk was born July 7, 1909 in Blessing, Texas to parents Hill D. and Florine Etoile Bowers Stayton. She was a long time resident of Barbers Hill where she was Valedictorian of the 1927 graduating class. She met her late husband Samuel Thomas Polk while working at the post office in Barbers Hill. They married in 1936 and later moved to Dayton in 1951. Mrs. Polk retired from the post office at 72 years of age after 35 years of service. She was very active throughout the years in Dayton, serving as a member of the First United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Republic, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, CAP Organization, American Quarter Horse, Association and the Pilot Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers: Jesse W. Stayton, Howard Stayton, Hugh “Doc” Stayton, Alton B. Stayton and sister: Mary Lucille “Chachie” Stayton Myers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Eleanor and Oliver “Sonny” Damek of Dayton; her grandchildren: Hugh Damek of Dayton and Sammi Damek of Dayton; great-grandson: Brady William Damek of Hawaii, also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Frizzell

Guy Windell Frizzell, 46, of Dayton, died Friday, May 1, 2009 in Houston, Texas.

Graveside Services for Mr. Frizzell will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin. Visitation will be 8:00 to 5:00, Monday, May 4, 2009 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Guy was born January 15, 1963 to parents Coy and Ruth Hargrove Frizzell in Dayton, Texas. A lifelong resident of Dayton he was a graduate of Dayton High School. Guy enjoyed gardening, fishing and barbequing. He was always one to lend a helping hand to others.

Mr. Frizzell was preceded in death by his mother; son: Guy Windell Frizzell, Jr. and daughter: Jamie Pauline Frizzell. He is survived by his wife: Mary Nell Smesny Frizzell of Dayton; daughter: Brandie Marie Frizzell of Dallas; step-daughter: Jennifer Renee Fox and husband Aaron of Beeville, Texas; step-sons: Stephen Roy Cathey and wife Phylicia of Fort Hood, Texas and Daniel Thomas Cathey of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; one grandson: Jaydon Cathey of Fort Hood, Texas, Father: Coy Frizzell of Hardin; and brothers: Coy Frizzell and Danny Frizzell both of Crosby, Texas.

Moses

Robert “Bob” Lester Moses, Sr., of Liberty, went home to be with his Lord on April 30, 2009 in Buna, TX.

Bob was born to parents, Marion Richmond Moses and Cora Alice Myers Moses on July 15, 1915 in Call, TX. He was self-employed in the construction business for many years. He loved repairing and collecting antique clocks. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Alexander Moses; all of his brothers and sisters; daughter, Alice Ann Moses Smith and son-in-law, Byron Shivers. Bob is survived by his son, Bobby Moses and wife Jimmie of Buna, and daughter, Leslie Shivers of Liberty, and son-in-law, Thomas Smith. Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.

A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at 11 A.M. at the Cooke cemetery in Liberty.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Liberty, P.O. Box 88, Liberty, TX 77575.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Partain

Arvle Delmus Partain, age 89, died in Houston, Texas, at the VA Medical Center, April 28, 2009. Arvle was born in Fortoria, Texas, December 7, 1919 to Arvle R. and Bulah Partain.

He is preceded in death by both parents, his son Aarvle Delmus Partain Jr. and his granddaughter, Penny Partain.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lucille Partain; sons, Ronnie Partain and wife, Evelyn, Patrick OFarrell and wife, Barbara; daughter, Connie Jackson and husband, Felix, Kathleen O’Farrell, Toni Sinclair and husband, Richard, Sue Little and husband, Jimmy, Nancy Freese, Casey Anderson and husband, Bobby; twenty-seven grandchildren, countless great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members and treasured friends throughout the years.

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2009, Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Montague cemetery Cleveland, Texas; Pastor Stephen Pace officiated of Twinland Baptist Church, Channelview, Texas.

Williamson-Vallo

Eleanor Pauline Williamson-Vallo (“Grandmaw” & “Big Grandmaw”), of Shepherd, Texas, died Monday, April 27, 2009. She was born in Cordele, Texas on April 10, 1933 to Mary and Burl Harris who preceded her in death along with her brothers, Bill Wilson, Fred Wilson and James Wilson.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2009 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment immediately following at Farley Chapel cemetery, Shepherd, Texas. Bro. Rick Jolly and Bro. James Atkinson will be officiating with pallbearers, Andy Williamson, James Atkinson, Kevin Williamson, Michael Freeman, Cody Parson, and Brent Schlabra honorably escorted her to her final resting place.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Vallo; sons, Archie Williamson and wife, Carol, Bobby Williamson and wife, Missy, Niel Williamson; daughters, Dorothy Caldwell, Mary Taylor; grandchildren, Andy Williamson and wife, Christi, Elaine Freeman and husband, Michael, Michael Atkinson and wife, Delores, James Atkinson and wife, Pam, David Atkinson, Rachell Gibson, Kashina Wilson, Amber Caldwell, Kimberly Caldwell, Betsy Williamson, Travis Williamson; great-grandchildren, Kacee, Kevin, Cody, Ashley, Haylee, Levi, Colette, David, Amanda, Markie, Xavier; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other cherished family members and caring friends.

Lambert

Barbara Ann (Herndon) Lambert, 74, of Daisetta, Texas, died in Beaumont, after a brief stay in Baptist Hospital. She was bon on January 17, 1935 to I.Y. and Ann Herndon in Liberty, Texas.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; son, Sidney Ray Murphy; and brother, Jack Herndon. She is survived by her son, John Burks and wife Melissa of Daisetta; daughters, Sissy Taylor and husband David of Daisetta and Kim Fenton and husband Brian of Daisetta; brother, Wallace Herndon and wife Uarda of Liberty; sisters, Jean Baughman of Liberty and Martha Dillard of LaPorte; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Barbara will be from five until eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, April 30 at Allison Funeral Service. A service of remembrance will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning Friday May 1 at Allison Funeral Service with interment to follow in Liberty City cemetery.
