Ford

Funeral Service will be held for Audrey Mae Ford, 87, of Dayton, Texas, on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Dayton, Texas at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend R. H. Gilmore, Pastor, and the Rev. Dwight Pruitt, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Abbeville, Louisiana, she was retired from Hughes Aircraft Corporation. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Dayton, where she served on the usher board and mission society.

She died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

She is survived by one daughter: Ruth Gants of Dayton; two sons: Randolph Campbell Jr. of Dayton and Albert Campbell of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother: Albert Jackson of Dayton; three sisters: Amelia Jackson of Dayton, Dorothy McGinnis of Houston, and Marcie Collins of Connecticut, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Edwards

Funeral Service will be held for Frank Edwards, 84, of Liberty, Texas, on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Turkey Creek Baptist Church, Liberty, Texas at 1:00 P.M., with the Reverend Paul Edward Cross, Sr. Pastor, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Liberty, he was a retired laborer with the Brown and Root Company and a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church.

He died on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Triumph Hospital in Channelview, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his wife: Virginia DeBlanc Edwards of Liberty, four sons: Frank Neal Edwards, Christopher L. Edwards, and Darrell W. Edwards, all of Liberty and Brian B. Edwards, Sr. of Dayton; five daughters: Charlotte M. Edwards and Ruth E. Mosley, both of Liberty, Elizabeth A. Douglas of League City, Texas, Mattie B. Thibodeaux of Ames, Texas and Clara N. Pickett of Baytown; one brother: Francis Edwards of Raywood; one sister: Bernice Redmon of Ames and a host of other relatives and friends.

Woods

Homer Melvin “Buddy” Woods, 84, of Liberty, Texas, died Monday, April 27, 2009. He was born on March 11, 1925 to Homer and Lavada Woods in Wortham, Texas. Buddy was a painter that enjoyed hunting and fishing on his off time.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 20 years, Sue Woods and wife of 35 years Wanda Woods; sister, Jeanette O’Forse; and step-father, Nolan Burch. He is survived by his son, Ray Woods and wife Elizabeth of Pearland; daughters, Linda Pharr and husband Tom of Henderson, Pat Helstrom and husband Jim of Kenefick, and Heidi Woods of Liberty; step-children, Debbie Keaton and husband Ike of Liberty, Donald Rawson of Port Arthur, and Lori Rees and husband James of Liberty; half-sisters, Shirley and Loretta; nephew, Jimmy Wayne Fransen and wife Theresa of Louisiana; 5 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; and numerous more relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon Thursday, April 30th in Fairlawn cemetery.

Arrangements for Buddy have been entrusted to Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N Travis, Liberty, Texas 77575.

Smith

Chris Lee Smith, 49, of Dayton, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, in Beaumont.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Crosby Church in Crosby. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Chris was born March 22, 1960 in Houston, to parents; Willie Lawson Smith and Donnie Bockman, was a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 17 years.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 13 years: Beverly Hicks of Dayton, daughter: Brenda Smith of Beaumont, mother: Donnie Bockman Wilson and husband George of Houston, sisters: Carrie Smith of Houston and Cim Smith of Houston, brothers: Eric Smith of Houston, Buddy Smith of Houston, Craig Smith of Houston, and Trey Wilson of OK, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Carter

Lula Marie Carter, 82, died peacefully in her home on the 24th day of April, 2009.

Mrs. Carter, a resident of Cleveland since 1984, was born in Piggott, Arkansas, on May 4th, 1926. She attended Williams College for two years. After raising her family she went back to college and graduated from Bescia University in Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in education. She completed her master’s degree in education from Western Kentucky University. She lived in Kentucky for thirty years and taught kindergarten through sixth grade in the Breckenridge County School System for twenty years. Upon retirement she moved to Cleveland and taught five additional years at South side Elementary School.

Upon her second retirement from teaching she did missionary work with Youth With a Mission and taught English in Malaysia and Eastern Europe. She was a volunteer for Cleveland Regional Medical Center for fourteen years and a member of Healthy Women, Pilot Club, and Senior Circle. Her church was a vital and important part of her life and a member of Liberty Church (Liberty Christian Fellowship) for twenty five years. She was very excited about the new church facility to be built and planned to sit in her lawn chair and watch it constructed. Even threatened to get a shovel and help them.

Mrs. Carter loved to travel and work in her garden and flowers. She traced her great-grandfathers who fought in the Civil War and recently visited the battlefields where they fought.

She was preceded in death her husband of thirty eight years: Dr. O. C. Carter, Jr. of Hardinsburg, KY, a daughter: Lynda Theresa Bennett Logsdon, sister: Frances Binkley and parents: Robert and Lula Johnson.

She is survived by three children: Frieda White of Cleveland and husband Bob, sons: Dr. Steven A. Carter and wife Sharon of Louisville, KY and Rev. Douglas Carter and wife Tonya of Indiana, fourteen grandchildren and Twelve great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.

The family wishes to thank Linda Wood, R.N. and her granddaughter Missy Bailey for their constant nursing care the last five days of her life.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1st at 11:00 at Pace-Stancil Chapel with interment to follow at the Cleveland Memorial cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family request that anyone who would desire to make a donation do so to the Liberty Church Building Fund at 601 N. Washington, Cleveland, 77327

Pierson

Marie T. Schoor Pierson, 82, of Dayton, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Magnolia Place Nursing Home in Liberty.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 27, 2009, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Marie was born October 21, 1926 in France, was a former resident of Fort Wayne, IN, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 31 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed keeping her house and taking care of others.

Mrs. Pierson was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Paul Pierson, Sr., and son: Mitch Pierson. She is survived by her daughters: Nancy Roby and husband Garland of Ft. Wayne, IN and Theresa Younger and husband Bobby of Dayton, sons: Paul Pierson, Jr. of Baytown and John Pierson of Kinderville, IN, 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Riffle

Rebecca Marie (Efaw) Riffle, 61, of Dayton, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at her residence in Dayton.

Funeral services will be held at a later date with Frey Home for Funerals in Fairmont, WV. Local arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Rebecca was born May 20, 1947 in Fairmont, WV, to parents; James H. and Betty Masters Efaw, a former resident of WV, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 39 years. She was a graduate of the Fairmont High School in WV, a retired driver for the Houston Post Delivery Services, and a member of God’s Word in Action Church and the Circuit Riders Motorcycle Ministries. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and other crafts.

Mrs. Riffle was preceded in death by her parents and son: James A. Riffle. She is survived by her daughter: Betty Marler and husband John of Dayton, son: Lloyd H. Riffle, Jr. and wife Shannon of Silsbee, sister: Alma Efaw of Fairmont, WV, brothers: James H. “Jimbo” Efaw, Jr. of Fairmont, WV and Tommy Efaw of Fairmont, WV, grandchildren: Heather M. Marler Cash, Christopher A. Marler, Dustin Smith, and Jessica L. Kelley, great-grandchildren: Zachariah A. Marler, Auston R. Caldera, and Leann M. Caldera, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Landry

Funeral Service will be held for Antorine Landry, 73, of Raywood, Texas, on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at New Bethel Baptist Church, Raywood, Texas, at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend John Walker and the Reverend Dr. Andrew Michael Landry, officiating, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Praying Lake, Louisiana, he was a construction worker and a business owner.

He died Monday, April 20.2009 at Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at church. He is survived by his wife Mary Coleman Landry of Raywood; three sons: Rev. Andrew Michael Landry of Houston, Anthony Dewayne Landry of Mount Belvieu, and Arthur Napoleon Landry of Raywood; two daughters: Gloria Virginia Moore of Double Bayou and Kathie Lee Jones of Winnie; one brother: Henry Joseph Guillory of Raywood; and a host of other relatives and friends.

White

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James Thomas “Jelly Bean” White, 82, on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Ames, Texas, at 10:00 A.M. with the Reverend Father Ikeokwu Nduh, M.S.P., as Celebrant, with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery.

A native of Liberty, he was a graduate of Liberty Training High School and worked as a security guard. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at his residence.

Visitation will be held Friday from 8:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Arceneaux White of Liberty; three daughters: Zsa Zsa Morris of Dayton, Florida, Dale White and Betty Victorian, both of Houston, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

McKinney

Joseph Wayne McKinney, age 68, died Monday April 20, 2009 in Baytown.

Wayne was born December 29, 1940 in Shreveport, LA, the son of the late Joseph Marshall McKinney and Mattie Sartor McKinney of Liberty. Wayne was a quick study, who was loving and kind, a real man’s man, who loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved his family and to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the Houston Astros as well as the Green Bay Packers. Wayne worked in Petrochemical construction business for over fifty years, mainly as a construction supervisor. He was a graduate of Pasadena High School graduating in the class of 1959.

Wayne leaves his wife of twenty-nine years, Judy J. McKinney of Hardin, his mother Mattie McKinney of Liberty, sons Dr. Scott McKinney and his wife Sandy of Seabrook, and Jeff McKinney and his wife Brenda of Deer Park, two step-sons, James Q. Watts of Houston and Shannan Mobley of Highlands. His two sisters Lawane Sigle and her husband Dwayne of Dayton, and Lanelda Vansau of Liberty, his two brothers Michael McKinney and his wife Cindy of Atascocita, and David McKinney and his wife Caroline of Commerce. In addition he leaves five grandchildren, Brad McKinney, Elizabeth Hill, Brittany Cockrell, Laura Holcomb, and Sterling McKinney as well as his great-grandchildren, Cadence Cockrell, Ava Hill, and Brody Holcomb. Wayne leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday April 22, 2009 from 6-9pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas.

A funeral service will be held 10AM Thursday April 23, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Jay Barnes, Rev. Jerry Hullman, and Rev. Brian Lambert to officiate, burial to follow in Moss Hill cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Cessna

Nelda Joy Cessna Fregia, died on April 18, 2009 at the age of 65 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. She was born in Liberty, TX on April 18, 1943 and spent most of her life in Hardin, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Albert Earl Cessna and Thyra Elizabeth Mc Murtry of Hardin.

She enjoyed cooking for family get togethers, sewing (especially baby blankets) for all the new ones coming into the world, going fishing and camping on family trips, cookouts, going to check her cows, riding her golf cart with all great grandkids on board and visiting with family and friends.

Joy, better known as “Maw Maw” spent her life so full of love for anyone who came her way.

If you ever met her you will remember that precious smile she always had and the love of God she carried.

She was a member of the Hardin PTO and if you were ever at a football game she was always there in the concession stand, greeting and talking to all that passed and had a minute to spare and just visit.

She dedicated her Wednesday to the PTO school store where all the kids came by to say “hi” to Maw Maw whether they bought anything or not.

She always had a kind word to say to all and loved to tell people about her family and grandkids along with Faith, Love, Caring, Friendship and the Power of God. Her first joys of life was when her daughters came along. She was a very dedicated mother who taught her daughters the morals of love, faith and the importance of family. When the grandkids and great grandkids came along they were her life. She scheduled her days around their hobbies and enjoyed supporting them in all they did. If you ever asked her she would tell you each accomplishment they made on a daily basis with a loving gleam in her eye, she was a very proud grandma. She was a member of the Moss Hill Assembly of God and dedicated many hours with her extended family there. She was a mama, sister, grandma (Maw Maw), great-grandma, aunt, cousin and devoted friend who is going to be sadly but truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her survivors include her two daughters, Janet Russell and husband Adrian of Hardin and Nelda Jo (JoJo) Bush and husband Olen of Hardin. She is also leaving behind her brother Ronald (Ronnie) Earl Cessna and wife Kaye of Hardin and her sister Loye Fern Cessna and husband Tom of Houston. Nine grandchildren, Josh Bush, Jenny Forsyth, James Forsyth, Jennilea Chase and husband Tommy, Kayla Templeton and husband Mark, Kami Bush and Kenneth (Bubba) Bush. Five great grandchildren; Ty Chase, Jayden Forsyth, Hunter Templeton, Taylor Chase and Jake Forsyth, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended families beyond measure also survive.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 5-9 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 3 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service with interment immediately following at the Hardin Methodist Church cemetery in Hardin.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Bell

Horace Bell, age 84, of Cleveland, Texas, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. He was born in Kemp, Texas on September 29, 1924 to William E. and Ellie Mae Bell.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 19, 2009, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas with interment immediately following at Montague cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister; Zelda Henderson. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Bell; children, Garlen Yeager Jr., Jeff Yeager and wife, Angela; brother, Willard D. Bell; sister, Doris Bell Cox; grandchildren, Amanda Marie Yeager, Jeffrey Garrett Yeager and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family treasured members and cherished friends beyond measure.

Augeri

James S. “Grandpaw” Augeri, age 84, of Batson, Texas, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009. He was born in Middletown, Connecticut, on January 18, 1925 to Concetta and Sebastiana Augeri who preceded him in death along with his wife, Johnnie Augeri; daughter, Michael Ann Augeri; and his sons, Luther Crabtree and Richard Augeri. James S. Augeri served our country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.

He is survived by his son, James T. Augeri and wife, Cindy; grandsons, Juan, Louis, Chance, and Troy; granddaughters, Jennifer, Johnnie, Jamie, and Jesse; one great-grandchild, TBD with numerous nieces, nephews, and many other treasured family members and cherished friends throughout the years.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 19, 2009, 5:00-9:00 (Rosary at 7:00 p.m.) at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas, with interment immediately following at Holly Grove cemetery, Segno, Texas.
