Laura Bennet Kalles, 89, of Dayton, died Thursday, January 1, 2009. She was born January 12, 1919 in Tuttle, North Dakota, to parents Phillip Lawrence Bennett and Mary Margaret Peterson Bennet.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Elmer Leland Kalles, her daughter; Kay Joann Dunn, her sons: James Eugene Dunn, David Dwayne Dunne, and grandson: Michael Lee Burbank. She is survived by her daughter: Dorothy Burbank, her sons: Marvin Jackson and Patrick Jackson; sixteen grandchildren: Laura, Linda, James, Chris, Richard, Robert, Alex, Joel, Jennifer, Jamie, Dominick, Margaret, Daniel, Mary Ann, Dorene, and Stephen; twenty-four great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.

No services for Mrs. Kalles are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

McMillan

Theresa Rita McMillan, age 82, of Liberty, Texas, died after an extended illness on Friday, January 2, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Cleveland, Texas.

She was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose Burek born December 23, 1926 in Midland, Pennsylvania.

Survivors include her devoted husband, John E. “Jack” McMillan; daughters, Patricia Dicianna and husband, Terry of San Antonio, Deborah Cain and husband, Randy of Moss Hill; sisters Margaret Patterson of Pittsburgh, PA, Gertrude Mellott of Pittsburgh, PA, Cecelia Barrett McKees of Rocks, PA; grandchildren, Kristen Dicianna, Kevin Dicianna and wife, Tammy, Danny McMillan, Kathleen McMillan, Buddy Covalt, Monica Weis, Karli Cain, Cody Cain; great-grandchildren, HayLeigh Dymock, Hunter Dymock, Jillian Dicianna, Kelsea Dicianna, and Alana Covalt, with numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members and treasured friends throughout the years.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 15147 Hwy 146 North, Moss Hill, Texas. The family request condolences be sent to Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, c/o John E. McMillan, 303 E. Crockett, Cleveland, Texas, 77327.

Shipman

George Henry Shipman, 75, of Dayton, Texas, died Monday, January 5, 2009.

He was born at home on February 2, 1933 to George Bryant and Reba Scott Shipman in Huffman, Texas. George loved his job as a surveyor and was a member of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors. He enjoyed watching football, especially watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed by anyone who knew him.

George was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy Shipman; and grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Jo Ann Shipman; son, George Henry Shipman, Jr. of Rockdale; daughters, Leila Shipman of California, Dawn Shipman Jones and husband George Lane, Jr. of Dayton, and Shelly Leigh Shipman of California; step-son, Rob Flurry of Beaumont; grandchildren, T.J. Flurry, J.C. Martin, Jessy Martin, Cara Wingert, Jets Shipman, Ronald Dusablon, Robert Dusablon, and George Henry Jones; sisters, Iva Mae Kersh and Stella Evans; brothers, Hervey Shipman, Leo Shipman, Curtis Shipman, and John Shipman; and numerous nieces, nephews other friends and relatives.

A visitation for family and friends will be at Sterling Funeral Home on Friday, January 9th from five until eight o’clock in the evening. A service of remembrance will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, January 10th at Sterling Funeral Home with interment to follow in Magnolia cemetery.

Oliphant

Louis H. ‘Buddy’ Oliphant, Jr., age 73, of Liberty, TX., died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at a local Nursing Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 10:00 A. M., at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575, with the Reverend Jake Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooke Memorial cemetery, 1910 Lakeland Drive, Liberty, Texas.

Buddy was born on September 22, 1935 in Port Neches, TX, to Louis Hunter Oliphant Sr. and Mildred Kennedy Oliphant and he graduated from the Port Neches-Grove High School. He received a bachelors degree in business from the Stephen F. Austin University. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and worked for the Tanner Construction Company of Dayton, TX.

Buddy was a member of the Liberty Elks Lodge # 2019, and the Houston Live Stock Show.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, his survivors are two sons: Bruce H. Oliphant of Mont Belvieu, TX, and William F. and Nubia Oliphant, of Enterprise, Alabama, two grandchildren, Emily Lauren Oliphant, and Nathan Santiago Oliphant, a sister, Billie Sue Garrison of Pearland, TX., two nephews, Dr. Glenn Garrison and John Garrison, a very special friend Barbara Wiggins and Randol Wiggins.

Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

Leonard Harvey Hatcher, 75, of Saratoga, died Sunday January 4, 2009 in Beaumont, TX.

A native and life long residence of Saratoga Leonard was an Oilfield worker for Basil Oilfield Services.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Thomas and Virginia Hatcher, brother Raymond Hatcher.

Survivors are His wife; Deloris Hatcher of Saratoga, Sons; Bobby Hatcher and wife Candass of Woodville, Scott Hatcher and wife Susan of Amarillo TX. Daughter; Sharon Patton of Batson. Brothers; Jerald Hatcher of Buna, Bill Hatcher of Buffalo TX, Wayne Hatcher of Silsbee. Sisters; Mertie Duffee of Houston, Lenora “Pee Wee” Wells of Saratoga. Grandchildren; 8 Great grandchildren; 5.

A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday January 7, 2009 at 2; 00 P.M. At West End Baptist church of Saratoga with Reverend Gary Criswell and Bill Fabriguze officiating interment will follow at Guedry cemetery of Batson. Visitation will be held Tuesday January 6, 2009 beginning at 5:00 P.M. at the church

John Brooks Johnson, Jr., 53, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in Raywood, TX

Funeral service was held Saturday December 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM At Central Baptist Church in Daisetta, with Reverend Jimmy VanDorn officiating, Visitation started at 10:00 A.M. Until time of service, Saturday at the church.

Survivors are; Parents; John B. Johnson, Sr and Joyce Johnson of Daisetta, Sons' Jeremy Brooks Johnson of Daisetta, Justin Curtis Young and wife Tina of Daisetta, Jeremiah Andrew Johnson and wife Ashley of Daisetta, John Henry Johnson of Daisetta, and Marcus Young of Shepherd TX, Daughters; Johnnie Brooks Johnson of Daisetta, Linda Yvonne Johnson and husband Kevin of Tomball, TX, Marcella Young of Cleveland, TX., Brother; Scott Johnson of Hull, Sisters; Carolyn Collins of Marshall, TX, Linda Murphy and husband Mark of Beach City, TX and Shiela Johnson of Beach City, TX Grandchildren: 13

Fregia

Jessie Fregia Jr, 82, of Hull, died Monday January 5, 2009 in Liberty TX.

A native of Daisetta, he had lived in the area most of his life and was a Roughneck working in the Oilfield industry.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Evelyn Price Fregia, son, Glenn David Fregia and grandson David Matthew Fregia.

Survivors are Sons; Jerry Fregia and wife Tiny of Hardin, Alton Fregia and wife Tammy of Hardin, Milton Fregia and wife Tina of Hardin, James Poitevent and wife Virginia of Liberty. Half Brother; Aubrey Fregia of Raywood.Grandchildren; 10 and Great Grandchildren; 1.

Service of remembrance will be held Thursday January 8, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at New Life Assembly of God Church of Batson, with Reverend Bill Campbell and Reverend Bob Morgan officiating interment to follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday January 7, 2009 from 5:00 P.M. Until 9; 00 P.M.also at the church.

Parker

Carol Joan Martin Parker, 77, of Houston, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 after an extended illness.

She was born November 21, 1931 in Dayton, to parents Leo and Clara Ashley Martin. She was a long time resident of Dayton and attended Dayton Schools. Mrs. Parker loved her family and enjoyed crocheting, as she made blankets for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While in Dayton, she was a member of the First Baptist Church.

A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009 at The First Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Trousdale officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Robert “Bob” Martin; her sister: Barbara Martin Brown; and her great-grandson: Tyler Schneiter. She is survived by her daughter: Cindy Cream of Onalaska; her sons: Terry Boyett and wife Renee of Dayton and Robbie Parker and wife Elizabeth of Kingwood; her brother: Will R. “Butch” Martin and wife Sherry of Dayton; and her sister: Lenitta Martin of Dayton; three grandchildren: Chris Cream, Angela Boyett Murphy and Ashley Boyett Schneiter; two great-grandchildren; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Warren

Billy Dwayne Warren, 53, of Dayton died December 29, 2008 after an extended illness.

He was born July 21, 1955 in Mendenhall, Mississippi, to parent Billy G. and Jane Wells Warren. He served in the United States Army. He had lived in the Dayton area since 1997 where he worked at J & L Auto, and attend Eastgate Church. Dwayne enjoyed fishing and music.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Houston National cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Mr. Warren was preceded in death by his father; brother: Jeffery T. Warren and infant sister: Darlene Warren. He is survived by his wife of 11 years: Rose Mary Thompson Warren of Dayton; his son: Billy Dwayne Warren, Jr. and wife Amber of Bainbridge, Georgia; his mother: Jane Well Munday of Mississippi and three grandchildren.

Arabie

Joan G. Arabie, 76, of Moss Bluff, Texas passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 after a short, but peaceful battle with cancer.

She was born in San Diego, California to Joe P. and Patricia Patterson Foreman on April 12, 1932. She loved to fish, camp out, work in and talk to all of her flowers and garden, and play with her pets. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty and also worked there as a bookkeeper for many years before retiring.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and son, Roy Lee Garrett. She is survived by her loving husband Dallas R. Arabie, Sr. of Moss Bluff; sons, Keith A. Arabie and wife Samantha of Baytown, Gary W. Arabie of Baytown; daughters, Mollie Faye Daniels and husband Charles of Liberty, Maribeth Smith of Houston, Teresa Milleson and husband Mike of Houston, Diana Mates of Wisconsin, Barbara Gresham and Frances Jones both of Ohio, Susan Y’Barbo and family of Newton, and Sara Sheppard and family of Roman Forest; sister, Evelyn N. Foreman and best friend Sara Brown of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson, Michael Lee Garrett Poppe and family of Riverside, California; granddaughter, Brittney E. Garrett and family of Austin; and numerous more extended family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and close friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation for family and friends will be from five until eight o’clock in the evening with a rosary being recited at six o’clock Monday, January 5 at Allison Funeral Service. A service of remembrance will take place at ten o’clock in the morning, Tuesday, January 6 at Allison Funeral Service with a committal service to follow in the Liberty Catholic cemetery.

Lovelle

Michael Ray Lovelle, age 62, died December 31, 2008 in Denton, Texas.

Michael was born July 31, 1946 in Bellville, Texas, the son of the late Otis Henry Lovelle Sr. and Lillie Scholman. Michael was a graduate of Liberty High School and was a past member of First United Methodist Church of Liberty.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother Otis Henry Lovelle, Jr.

He leaves behind his brother John Ira Lovelle, of Dayton, a sister-in-law Monte J. Bowles, and his beloved nieces and nephews Steve Lovelle, Leslie Lovelle, Andy Smith, Michelle Lay, and Mitzie Buss.

Visitation will be held Saturday January 3, 2009 from 12-2pm at the Allison Funeral Service. Funeral services to be held at 2pm at the funeral home with burial to follow in Fairlawn cemetery.

Linney

Juanita Fregia Linney, 84, a resident of Weatherford, Texas, died on December 31, 2008.

Mrs. Linney was a devoted wife and mother. She served beside her husband in the ministry for many years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Linney was born November 12, 1924 in Liberty County, Texas, to parents Mr. and Mrs. Gene Fregia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Reverend Jack B. Linney and son Jack B. Linney, Jr.

Services for Mrs. Linney will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2009 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Rev. Joseph P. Granberry officiating. Interment will follow at Linney cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday at the Funeral Home.

She is survived by her sons: Steve Linney and Paul Linney both of Weatherford, Mike Linney of Fort Worth and Tim Linney of Rosenberg, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brother: J.F. “Buddy” Fregia; sisters: Idora West, Hazel Fregia, Leona Mitchell, Beatrice Clements, Dorothy Ray, Patsy Ruth Hoffer, and Deloris Hardy; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Fredenburg

Lucky Eugene Fredenburg, 61, of Dayton, Texas, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008. He was born November 1, 1941 to Jack and Arlene Fredenburg in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Gene loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and swimming. Gene was a loving, helpful, wise and funny husband, father, and friend.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rocky Fredenburg. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Angela Fredenburg; daughter, Kari Isom and husband Mark of Dallas; grandchildren, Ashley and Kristina Rocheford of St. Peter, Minnesota; and other relatives and close friends.

A memorial service will be held at God’s Word in Action Church in Dayton, Texas on Saturday, January 3rd at 3:00 PM.

Hamic

George Albert Hamic, age 67, of Anahuac, TX, died, Friday, December 26, 2008 at his home. A graveside memorial service will be held on, January 2, 2009, 2PM at the Anahuac cemetery.

George was born on October 19, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri, to William Hamic and Ethel Ethridge Hamic. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of 20 years and worked for the State Dept as a Communications Specialist.

George is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bill Hamic, two sisters, Katherine Lough and Beverly Brassfield. The survivors are his wife, Michiko Sakamota Hamic of Anahuac, two daughters, Tracy and husband Mitsuhiro Iwasaki and Christine Cormier and husband Gavin of Anahuac, five grandchildren, Justin Iwasaki, Joshua Cormier, Kevin Iwasaki, Tia Cormier and Chace Cormier, and a host of other family members and friends.
