Margaret Ann Stuckey Thain, 35, of Liberty, died Friday, December 19, 2008, in Liberty.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at the Hill Side cemetery on HWY 146 in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Margaret was born January 28, 1973 in Anahuac, to parents; Jan Ray Stuckey, Sr. and Margie Vaughn, and has resided in the Liberty area throughout her life. She was a homemaker, member of the Open House Ministry, and enjoyed crafts and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Thain was preceded in death by her father: Jan Ray Stuckey, Sr. and mother: Margie Vaughn Nugent. She is survived by her husband of 19 years: Gilbert Thain, Sr. of Liberty, son: Gilbert Thain, Jr. of Liberty, daughter: Britteny Thain of Liberty, sisters: Sharon Sias and husband Brad of Moss Hill, Janet Havener and husband Harry of Liberty, and Melba Scott and husband Donald of Liberty, brothers: Jan Ray Stuckey, Jr. and wife Sam of Liberty and Gary Stuckey and wife Lisa of Hardin, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

LeNormand

Alberta Maxine LeNormand, age 81, died Friday at Faith Community Hospice in Baytown, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Shady Point, Texas June 25, 1927 the daughter of the late Glen Gartner and Ada Smith Gartner. She was a graduate of Hull-Daisetta High School, and was an avid volunteer for the elderly. She enjoyed fishing and crocheting and loved to spend time with her beloved family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis LeNormand Sr. and her two brothers Glen Gartner Jr. and Larry David Gartner.

She leaves behind her son Curtis LeNormand Jr. and his wife Donna. Siblings, Veramaude Vessel, Howard Eugene Gartner, Darlene Teal, Anita Cook and Mary Coker. In addition she leaves two grandchildren, Christopher Dwayne and Clifford Allen LeNormand and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.

Visitation will be held Monday from 5-8pm at the Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services to be held Tuesday 1pm at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Oakdale cemetery, Daisetta.

Martin

Alice Lucille Martin, age 90, of Sour Lake, TX, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 in a Beaumont Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 at 2:00P. M. with the Rev. William Fabriguze officiating, with burial in the Guedry cemetery Batson, TX. A visitation will be held on Monday at Allison Funeral Service at 12:00 P.M. until service time.

Alice was born on March 17, 1918 in Batson, TX., to Charlie Carouthers and Flossie Mae McClendon. Alice married Manuel Davis Martin on September 11, 1941 in Angleton, TX, and they made their home in southeast Texas. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church, and a homemaker.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Manuel Gene Martin, three brothers, Titus Carouthers, and John Ellis Carouthers, and Timothy Carouthers, and a sister, Raqchel Douglas. Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Aileen and Brian Kent Tanner of Sour Lake, TX., a brother, David Carouthers and wife Barbara of Pasadena, TX two grandchildren, Deborah Watson and husband Johnny, and Clifford Tanner and wife Michelle, five great grandchildren, Kari Leon and husband Sean, Courtney Hinson, Mandi Hinson, Whitney Tanner, and Truett Tanner, and numerous Nieces and Nephews and a host of other family members and friends.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Huff

Lessie Beatrice Huff, age 88, of Hardin, TX, died Thursday, at her home in Hardin, TX.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hardin Baptist Church, 138 C.R. 2003 South, Hardin, TX, with the Rev. Tony Hines officiating, with burial in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Orange, TX. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Bea was born on October 27, 1920, to Elzy D. Marze and Hattie Teresa Claude Marze in Rockland, Texas. She was a member of the Hardin Baptist Church, the Dorcus Sunday School Class and a retired School Food Service Specialist with the West Orange – Cove ISD. She was a member of the West Orange-Cove Food Service Org. Bea enjoyed her church family, crocheting, needlepoint, camping, fishing, and plwaying forty two.

Bea is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Lloyd N. Weaver, and Allen F. Huff, two brothers, C.V. Marze and Moody Marze, and two sisters, Willie Mae Stewart and Hazel Atchison.

She is survived by her sons: Kenneth N. Weaver and wife Cindy, of Spurger, TX. and Grover Frank Huff and wife Diane of Hardin, TX; Three Step-sons; Loy G. Huff and wife Shirley, of Baytown, TX., Hollis P. Huff, of Orange, TX., and Milton P. Huff and wife Mary Lee, of Vidor, TX, grandchildren, Kenneth N. Weaver, Jr., Krissy Weaver Pickney, Kayla Weaver Blake, Joshua F. Huff, Jacob A. Huff. Step-Grandchildren: Vonda Mears, Darrell Huffman, and Frank Huffman, Connie Huff Ellis, Larry D. Huff, Terry L. Huff, Randall E. Huff, Carol Lynn Huff, Floyd K. Huff, Milton P. Huff, Jr., Michael D. Huff, Leigh Ann Huff, and Marion A. Huff, and numerous step great-great grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends. The family has requested memorials in memory of Bea be made to the Hardin Baptist Church Mission Fund, P.O. Box 314, Hardin, TX 77561.

Walters

Kenneth Alvin Walters Sr., 67, of Kountze, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with interment to follow at Pine Ridge cemetery. Visitation will be held also Saturday beginning at 9:00A.M. Until time of service at the church.

A native of Baytown, Kenneth had lived in Kountze many years and was a retired Minister and also a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife; Betty Walters of Kountze, Sons; Burl Walters and wife Crystal of Kountze, Kenneth Alvin Walters Jr and wife Kelley of Oklahoma City, OK. Daughters; Lettie Martin and husband Kenneth of Kountze, Jean Sims of Kountze, Sister; Betty Lou Carter of Centerville, TX. Grandchildren; 10.

Rosser

ames A. “Dugan” Rosser, 84, of Kerrville, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 20, 2008, at the Linney cemetery in Dayton with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Dugan was born June 24, 1924 in Shiloh, to parents; Robert Lewis and Lema Hicks Rosser, was a former resident of Timpson, long time resident of Dayton and had resided in the Kerrville area for the past 15 years. He was a veteran of the US Navy with service during World War II, and a retired brick layer for the Brick Layers Local #7 of Houston, and enjoyed building levels, reading, carpentry, the outdoors, and his walkabouts.

Mr. Rosser was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Lenora Faye Fries Rosser, sons: Robert Lewis Rosser III and James A. Rosser II, and brother: Dan Moody Rosser. He is survived by his son: Victor F. Rosser of Houston, sister: Marjorie Purcell of Adkins, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Shirley

Goldie Hazel Shirley, age 93, of Liberty, Texas, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008. She was born on January 23, 1915 in Quinlan, Texas to Charlie and Mandy Jones.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Moss Hill cemetery.

Survivors include her son, J.W. Shirley and wife, Mitzi; grandchildren, James “Bubba” Shirley and wife, Re; Mark Shirley and wife, Scarlett, Crystal Zoeller and husband, Shane, William Shirley and wife, Melissa; great-grandchildren, Jesse Shirley and wife, Natalie, Brittany Shirley, Faith Shirley, Candace Davis and husband, Kyle, Josh Shirley and wife, Kacie, Austin Shirley, Kaylee Shirley, Adam Willis and wife, Rachel, Kolby Wade, Amber Wade, Hunter Hutchins, Taylor Zoeller, Kyle Shirley, Mattie Shirley; great-great-grandchildren, Makensie Shirley, Konna Shirley, Logan Willis, Joseph Shirley, Landon Davis and so many other cherished family members and treasured friends throughout the years.

Coffin

Randy Perry Coffin, Sr., age 46, died Sunday, December 7, 2008.

He was born in Houston, Texas May 16, 1962 the son of Bruce and Virginia Coffin. Randy last worked as a Truck Driver for Action Trucking. He wed April 30, 1993 in Houston, Texas to his beloved wife Gretta Lynn Coffin.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and mother, his sons Randy Coffin Jr., Alexander Christian Coffin and Junior Lloyd Powell, and his daughters Christina Marie Coffin and Amy Luann Coffin. His brother s Bruce Daniel Coffin Jr. and Marshall Coffin in additional he leaves ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Randy will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love for his family, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-8pm at the Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. Dayton with a funeral service to be held 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home, burial will follow in Hardin Chapel cemetery.

Hendricks

Reverend James Olyn Hendricks, of Liberty, TX, age 87, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 in a Baytown Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575, with the Revs. Steve McQuiston, Jerry Arnold, Adolph Johnson and Phillip Holloway officiating. Burial will be in the Cooke Memorial cemetery, Liberty, Texas. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church on F. M. 2830, Liberty, TX., from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

Bro. James was born near Vernon, Texas on August 7, 1921 to William Thomas Hendricks and Martha Dee McKey Hendricks. He was one of eleven children. Bro Hendricks has been a pastor most of his life. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Being a pastor of the church was his calling, he was at his best, visiting and having fellowship with his church family and with God’s people.

Brother James is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, James Roland Hendricks, and Derrick Eugene Hendricks; five brothers, E. W., Odell, Elmer, Dewey, and Odie Hendricks; six sisters, Lois Shraoder, Tinnie Powell, Minnie Casey, Velma Jordan, Clara Schrobaugh, and Mary Hendricks.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Carolyn Sue Saxton Hendricks of Liberty, TX.; son and daughter-in-law, Olyn Dwayne Hendricks and wife Ginger, of Liberty, TX.; three daughters and son-in-law, Shirley Barr and husband Wayne, of Cedar Hill, TX., Patty Gwen Rhoades of Liberty, TX., and Angela Marie of Baytown, TX.; eleven grandchildren: James Luther Fregia, Brian Keven Burress, Dustin Kyle Rhoades, Krista Michelle Burress, Keshia Nicole Hilton, Justin Dwayne Hendricks, Bradley Olyn Hendricks, Jordan Lane Hendricks, Zachary Austin Marie, Chris Spencer, and Melanie Bonann; eight great grandchildren: Landon James Nance, Ryan Bonann, Mckinzie Bonann, Carly Bonann, Summer Bonann, Krista Spencer, Kelsi Spencer and Kaylie Spencer, and a host of other family members and friends.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Riley

Wilfred David “Man” Riley, of Alvin, died Friday, December 12, 2008. He was born October 5, 1919 to parents: William Ervine and Ethyn Pearl Brandon Riley.

Services for Mr. Riley will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland. Visitation will be Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton.

Mr. Riley was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Sandra Randazzo: sisters; Lillian Littlefield and Fanniie Elizabeth Redd: brothers; Audrey Ervine Riley and William Riley.

He is survived by his wife: Frances Viola Riley of Alvin, a daughter: Linda Holley of Pasadena, 4 grandsons: Michael Caudill, Elvis Duane Caudill both of Dayton, Scott Pierce, David Pierce of Pasadena, 14 Great-grandchildren, 7 Great-great-grandchildren.

Crain

Michael Eugene Crain, 54, of Dayton, died Monday, December 8, 2008 in Liberty. He was born March 31, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri to parents: Leo Crain and Anna Taylor Crain. He had lived in the Dayton area for the past 6 years and was currently working at Wal Mart in Liberty. He enjoyed fishing, riding 4 wheelers and he liked to write books.

Memorial Service for Mr. Crain will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel.

He is survived by his friends: John Gallo of Dayton, James Gallo and wife Maria of Dayton; his niece: Kayla Gallo of Dayton and his nephew: Ashton Gallo of Dayton.

Briggs

Derrick Dewayne Briggs, 31, of Baytown, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 after a tragic accident.

He was born December 10, 1977 in Big Spring, Texas to parents Rodis Briggs, Jr. and Geneva Detiege Briggs. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he graduated in 1996 from Dayton High School, ranking fifth in his class. While in high school he was a member of the Student Council, the National Honor Society, the Spanish Club, and the Debate Squad. He received the First Team All-District basketball award, the MVP Offense football award, the MVP Defense basketball award, the Second Team All-District baseball award, and the Newcomer of the Year in baseball award. He was a regional qualifier in the 4x400 relay and the 800 meter run. Derrick continued his education at Texas Tech where he majored in Political Science, graduating in 2000. He was currently employed by Jacob Field Services.

Mass of Christian Burial for Derrick will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 15, 2008 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Dayton with Father Jim McClintock officiating. Interment will follow at Ames Catholic cemetery in Ames. Visitation for Derrick will be Monday morning 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home before his service at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his fiancé, Tiffany Samuel of Baytown, his parents: Rodis and Geneva Briggs of Dayton; his daughter: Skylar Nicole Briggs of Baytown; his sister: Felicea Briggs of Dayton; his brother: Cedric Briggs and wife Brenda of Wallisville; his nieces and nephews: Damien Briggs, Karisa Briggs, Justin Artis, Kiara Johnson, Reagan Briggs, Kinnidi Briggs, Valentino Briggs and Alexia Briggs.

Messer

Elbert J. Messer 79, of Saratoga, died Tuesday December 9, 2008 at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont.

Funeral service will be Friday December 12, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. At First United Pentecostal Church of Saratoga. Interment will follow at Daniel cemetery of Kountze.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the church from 4:00 P.M. Until 9:00 P.M. Survivors are wife; Lillie Fay Messer of Batson, sons; James Messer of Moss Hill, Elbert G. Messer of Saratoga, Jack Messer of Longview TX. Daughters; Nelda Guidroz of Saratoga, Margie Martinez of Lufkin, Patricia Antilly of Pineland, Amanda Thompson of Batson.

Logan

Wayne Logan, 55, of Dayton, died Monday, December 08, 2008 in Baytown after a brief illness.

He was born April 12, 1953 in Monahans, Texas to parents: Clifford Wayne and Price Jean Thompson Logan. He was a longtime resident of Dayton and attended Dayton Schools. He was currently employed by Sempra Pipelines as a construction manager. He was always taking care of others by building or repairing items. He also loved to plan and host a fish fry or a bar-b-q to be with his family and friends.

Services for Mr. Logan will be 12 noon Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Blackburn and Rev. Charles Pierce officiating. Interment will follow on Thursday at Restland cemetery in Gatesville, Texas.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his daughters: Tonya Michelle Sartin and husband Tim of Dayton, Sylvia Logan Trahan and husband Butch of Dayton, and Filena Resendez and husband Nickolas of Dayton; his grandchildren: Timothy, Jeana, Jonathan, Josh, Anna, Melanie, Ricky, Alyssa, Tiffany, and Logan; his sister: Karen Elizabeth Zernicek and husband Joe of Dayton; his brother: Jesse Lee Logan and wife Diana of Dayton; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
