Medders

A Memorial Service for James Leon Medders, 48, of Liberty Texas will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church, Liberty, Texas at 4:00 P.M. with the Reverend Paul Humber, officiating under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, he was a veteran of the United States Navy and a graduate of the 1976 class of Liberty High School.

He died October 22, 2008 at his residence.

He is survived by his mother: Barbara Medders, of Liberty, one sister: Jamelle Chavous of Pearland, Texas, one brother: James Stacey Medders of Anahuac, Texas; a very special friend: Mellissa Gray of Liberty, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Taylor

James Henry Taylor, 65, of Dayton, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at home after an extended illness.

He was born June 9, 2008 in Grenada, Mississippi to parents, Ulysis and Cannie Bell Washington Taylor and graduated from Hayti Central High School in 1963. He had lived in this area since 1987, after moving from Houston and Michigan and was owner of Blackmon Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and logging.

Visitation for Mr. Taylor will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, October 31, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Services are pending in Grenada, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Edward R. Taylor and sister: Louella Fisher. He is survived by his wife of 30 years: Patricia "Pat" Smith of Dayton; his daughters: Karen Taylor of Michigan, Candy Brown of Mississippi, Lyshaun Gladney of Mississippi, Sandy Calhoun of Michigan and Tracy Crowder of Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother: Charles Taylor of Mississippi; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends

Acker

Bruno Acker, 69, of Liberty, died Friday, October 17, 2008 in Liberty. He was born November 18, 1938 in Karlsruhe, Germany to parents: Fritz and Kleopha Munch Acker. He moved from Germany to Canada in 1958 where he was a member of the Canadian Coast Guard and later moved to Liberty in 1969. Before his retirement he worked as a truck driver, worked in construction for Brown and Root in the oil fields, and was a mechanic specialist. Mr. Acker was a member of the American Motorcycle Association, enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, gardening, fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife: Virginia Acker. He is survived by his daughter: Alta M. Acker; his previous wife: Helen Hughes of Willis; step-sons: Gene Kelton of Baytown and Ray Kelton of Huffman; his sister: Hannelore Acker of Karlsruhe, Germany; his cousin: Richard Schneider and wife Kathy of Toronto, Ontario; also numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Acker was held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home

Lannom

Eddie Paul Lannom 31, of Saratoga was born January 14, 1977 in Austin Texas and died Sunday October 26, 2008 also in Saratoga.

A Service Technician with Master Riggs International of Houston. Eddie was an honorable man loved by all his family and extended family he was married for 13 years to his loving and serving wife Rebecca Ann Lannom of Saratoga.

He was preceded in death by his father Paul Edgar Lannom. Survivors include other than his wife, are his mother; Diana Lynn Barnhart and stepfather; Larry Barnhart of Batson, son; Jakob Paul Lannom daughter; Kellie Ann Lannom both of Saratoga. Brothers; Trey Lawless of Houston, Shane Lannom of Batson, Richard Lannom of Dayton. Sisters; Shelly Main of Katy, RuDonna Coates of Spring TX and Misty Lannom of Saratoga, 3 nieces and 11 nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday October 29, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. At New Life Assembly of God Church of Batson with Pastor Bill Campbell officiating.

The family will be receiving friends Tuesday October 28, 2008 starting at 4:00 P.M. Until 9:00 P.M. At the church. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery of Batson. Arrangements by Faith & Family Funeral Services of Batson, TX.

Davis

Lorece Combest Davis, 94, of McKinney, died Friday, October 24, 2008, at the Heritage Villa Nursing Home in Dayton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at the Church of Christ in Celina with burial following at the Cottage Hill cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Celina. Local arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lorece was born November 26, 1913 in Anna, to parents; Everett and Birdie Van Deventer Combest, a former resident of Frisco, and has resided in McKinney for the past 38 years. She was a homemaker, member of the Church of Christ and the McKinney/Collin County Senior Citizen Group, and enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Earnest Davis, sisters: Aline Kindal and Bernice Boals, and brother: Donald Combest. She is survived by her daughter: Beth Campbell and husband Owen of Huffman, grandchildren: Beth Hearn of Kingwood, Judie Craven of Krum, and Jeff Campbell of Huffman, seven great-grandchildren: Andy Craven, Mandie Yasso, Casey Craven, Marsi Spurgeon, Lane Campbell, Holly Hearn, and Harrison Hearn, sisters: Fay Woods of McKinney, Dorothy Malone of Celina, and Avalon Harris of Garland, brothers: Odell Combest of Culver City, CA, Dorman Combest of Sierra Vista, CA, Doyle Combest of Dallas, Marshall Combest of MT, and Kenneth Combest of Garland, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Guillot

Juanita Davis Guillot of Arlington, TX died on October 23, 2008 at the Oakwood Nursing Home in Arlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents Travis Louis Davis and Velma Little Davis and is survived by two brothers, Will Davis and wife Suzanne and Jack Davis.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 25, at 2 P.M. at the Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty. Dr. Harry McDaniel will conduct the services.

Griffin

Sadie Griffin, age 78 of Liberty, TX., died Wednesday in a Baytown Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel 1101 North Travis Street Liberty, TX., at 10:00 A.M., with the Reverend Fred L. Raney officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooke Memorial cemetery, 1910 Lakeland Drive, Liberty, Texas. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008 at Allison Funeral Service from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Sadie was born on February 3, 1930, in Alvin, TX., to Charles Troy Knight and Ruby Elizabeth Manuel Knight.

She married Walter Griffin on July 11, 1948 Pearland, TX. and they made their home in Southeast Texas.

Sadie was a craft person, and enjoyed quilting.

They owned and operated the Bar-B-Q- Barn for years. Sadie is preceded in death by her parents and husband, three sisters and three brothers.

Her survivors are two daughters: Vicky Tyler and Shirley Fisher and husband John, two sons: Richard Griffin and wife Juanita, Allen Griffin and wife Melissa, eight grandchildren: Eric and Kerry Fisher, Patrick and Ashley Fisher, David and Missy Griffin, Ashley and Tae Park, Bradley Tyler, Brent Tyler, Amy Adams and Kristi Tyler
Eight great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

Cockerham

Herman Edward Cockerham, 84, of Dayton died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in Baytown after an extended illness. He was born February 27, 1924 in Onalaska, Texas to parents James Cockerham and Brittie Spencer Cockerham and served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Cockerham had lived in the Dayton area for the past 11 years. He was a retired self employed truck driver, was a member of the Chameleons Motorcycle Club, enjoyed woodworking and drinking coffee with his friends.

Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Day officiating. Interment will follow 1:30 p.m., at the Houston National cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23rd at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Mr. Cockerham was preceded in death by his daughter: Eva Marie Cockerham and his son: David Earl Cockerham. He is survived by his sons: Dennis Cockerham and wife Mae Dean of Dayton; Doug Pantel and wife Kimberley of Cypress; Larry Cockerham and wife Janie of Killeen; his daughter: Carol Todd and husband Steve of Dayton; 11 Grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren; his brother: James Kay and wife Robbie of Jacinto City; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Bowman

Rebecca Lynne Bowman age 43 died Wednesday October 22, 2008 in Baytown. Becky was born April 20, 1965 in Orange, Texas the daughter of the late Jimmy W. Brown and Gerry Sue Duke Brown.

A 1983 graduate of Dayton High School, she last worked for South Texas Bolt and Fitting as a Sales Manager. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and loved her family. She was avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon.

Becky leaves her beloved family, her son Adam Bowman, daughter Erica Bowman, brothers Rick Brown and his wife Sharon, Chris Brown and his wife Anita, granddaughter Kylie Bowman and a special friend Kelvin Klimitchek all of Dayton. In addition she leaves numerous nieces, nephews, friends and a host of other relatives. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8pm at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. Dayton, TX 77535. Funeral services to be held 10:30AM Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Piatt to officiate, burial to follow in Magnolia Park cemetery. Online condolences can be sent by visiting www.sterlingfuneralhome.com

Watson

Todd Randall Watson, age 24, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, in Rye, Texas as the result of a traffic accident.

He was born Tuesday, August 28, 1984, in Humble, Texas, to Thomas Ray Watson, Jr. and Tammy Renee England Watson. Todd was preceded in death by his grand maw Marie Watson, Uncle Michael Watson, great-grand paw George England, and granny Jessie DeBerry.

Todd is survived by his loving wife, Jacquelyn Gail Watson; parents Thomas and Tammy Watson; parent-in-laws, Jack and Brenda DeBerry; brothers, Trent and Taylor Watson; sister, Theresa McCauley and husband Jeremy; sisters, Tobie and Takayla Watson; bother-in-law, Craig DeBerry and wife Chassity; brother-in-law, Kenneth DeBerry and wife Stephanie; nephews, Ben Bybee, Zak DeBerry; nieces, Shelby, Jordan and Kaley DeBerry; niece, Nevaeh McCauley.

Visitation for Todd was held at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Friday October 17, 2008.

Services will be held at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Saturday, October 18, 2008, at 10:00 am. Internment followed in Stacy’s Memorial cemetery. An account has been set up at Prosperity Bank for anyone wishing to help the family with expenses. All services were handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home.

Smith

Hailynn Lee Marie Smith "our little angel” left us Tuesday October 14, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical center. Survivors are her parents; Bishop and Valerie Smith of Liberty, grandparents; Odice and Tandra Smith of Dayton, and grandfather; Buddy Wilson of Liberty. A service of remembrance was held Saturday October 18.2008 At the Apostolic Pentecostal church of Liberty with Pastor Herman Moor officiating. Interment followed at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton

Cross

Margarie Lynn Cross 59, of Raywood died Sunday October 19, 2008 at The Methodist Hospital in Houston.

A native of Lufkin she had lived in Raywood about nine years and was a homemaker.

Margarie was preceded in death by her parents; Thomas and Carrie Reppond.

Survivors include her loving husband Patrick Cross of Raywood, Sons; Edward G. Tanner and wife Arica of Fort Hood TX, Jonathan L. Tanner and wife Dawn of Baytown Alan D.” Buddy” Tanner of Daisetta and daughter-in-law; Danielle Tanner of Hardin. Brother; Roger Dale Reppond of Livingston, Sisters; Judy Reppond and Betty Williams both of Bay City. Grandchildren; 12.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday October 23, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. At Central Baptist church of Daisetta with Reverend Jimmy VanDorn officiating, the family will be receiving friends also Thursday beginning at 10:00A.M. Until time of service at the church. Cremation to follow after service.

Vinson

Luby Ray Vinson, age 82, died Friday, October 17, 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Heights Baptist Church, 2401 Jefferson Drive, Liberty, TX., with the Reverend Tim Gruver officiating with burial in the Cooke Memorial cemetery, 1910 Lakeland Drive, Liberty, Texas 77575. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.

Luby was born on May 15, 1926 to John Henry Vinson and Ora Jeanette Isaccks Vinson in Leggett, TX. Luby was a U. S. Army WW-II Veteran serving in the 27th Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star for action taken in the war.

He married Allie Mae Kimbrell on October 5, 1946 in Liberty, TX.

Luby was a brick mason all of his life, and a member of the Heights Baptist Church. He was a reserve deputy sheriff for Liberty County. Luby enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, and hunting.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and daughter: Peggy Rae Smart. His survivors are his wife of 62 years: Allie Mae Kimbrell of Liberty, TX; son: Kenneth Ray Vinson and wife Carla of Baytown, TX; daughters, Jo Ann Smith and husband Tommy of Liberty, TX., and Linda Kay Kelsey and husband James of Sequin. Ten grandchildren: Michael and Lana DeBlanc, Melinda and Miles Fisher, Lisa Kelsey, Chris Kelsey, Kenny and Christine Vinson, Kristi and Richard Vinson, David and Buddie Smart, Kevin and Angel Smart, Alan and Carolyn Smart, and Stephen and Kelly Smart; Twenty-five great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends also survive.

Chapman

Patrick Gene Chapman Sr., age 67, died Friday, October 17, 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, 2:00 P.M. at the Crosby Church 5725 Highway 90, Crosby, TX., with Pastor Keenan J. Smith and Pastor John Satherley officiating, burial will follow in the Sterling White cemetery, Highlands, TX. A visitation will be held at the Crosby Church at 1:00 P.M. until the service time.

Patrick was born on January 15, 1941 in Crosby, TX., to Millard F. Chapman Jr., and Margie Fuller Chapman. He graduated from the Crosby High School and attended Lee College in Baytown, TX. He was the owner of the Chapman Mobile Sales. Patrick enjoyed hunting, gardening, and mowing the yard.

He is survived by his wife: Kelley Lynn Sirocka Chapman, a son: Patrick G. Chapman Jr. two daughters: Sheri Chapman Hardin, and Alexis Taylor Chapman, four grandchildren: Katharine Hardin, Caroline Hardin, and Allen Sage Hardin III, and Hayden Chapman, and a host of other family member and friends. Memorials may be made to the Crosby Church 5725 Highway 90, Crosby, TX 77532
