Mary Helen Scott, age 77, died Thursday October 16, 2008 in Baytown with her beloved family by her side.

She was born May 2, 1931 in San Angelo, Texas the daughter of the late Sherman James Clayton Sr. and Mozelle Bell Williams Clayton. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Mary was caring, loving, and was as devoted to her family as she was to her bible study.

She leaves behind her husband of 56 years L.D. Scott, her children, Mary Ann Scott, Jerry Lawrence Scott and his wife Laura, and Connie Sue Craig and her husband Larry; Brothers, James Edward Clayton and his wife Judy, Sherman James Clayton Jr. and his wife Pam; Four grandchildren Brian Scott, Heather Scott, Jonathan Craig and his wife Jennifer, and Cassandra Craig. In addition she leaves one great grandchild Jonathan Craig Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Laura Bernice Clayton and Wilma Lois Clayton.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8pm at the Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N Main St. Dayton, Texas. Funeral Services to be held Saturday 1pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Robert Brantly to officiate. Burial to follow in Fairlawn cemetery, Liberty. Myers

Haydin Austin Myers, infant son of Jacob E. and Leslie L. Cairns Myers, died October 6, 2008, in Twenty Nine Palms, CA.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the First Baptist Church of Daisetta with burial following at the East Sandy cemetery in New Waverly. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Haydin was born January 3, 2008, in Twenty Nine Palms, and has resided there throughout his life. He is survived by his parents: Jacob E. and Leslie L. Cairns Myers of Twenty Nine Palms, CA, brother: Hunter A. Myers of Twenty Nine Palms, CA, grandparents: Edward and Rhonda Myers of Liberty, Elizabeth Gagne and husband Gaston of Raywood, and Robert E. Cairns and wife Carol of Cypress, great-grandparents: Lou and Sandra Myers of IN, Marion and Barbara May of Old Snake River, and Linda Mixon of Baytown, great great-grandparents: Bernice Bryan of Dickinson and Edith Leatherman of IN, and numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

Kelly

Sylvia A. Pinch Kelly, 61, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at home after an extended illness. She was born October 9, 1947 in Abington, PA to parents William A. and Eva Agnes McAnally Pinch. She had lived in Dayton for past 10 years after moving from Deer Park. Mrs. Kelly had worked as a security guard.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home and a memorial for Mrs. Kelly will be held by the family at a later date.

Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank S. Kelly and her brother Billy Pinch. She is survived by her son: Anthony Gay and wife Lesha of Atascocita and her daughter: Angela Gay and Aurelian Lacomb of Dayton; four grandchildren: Gavin Anthony Gay, Trey Yendry, Tylor Yendry, and Ariana Yendry; brothers: Larry Pinch of Dayton, Jerry Pinch of Pennsylvania, and Kenny Pinch of Alabama; close friend: Jo Jo Fontenot of Dayton; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wylie

Kevin Earl Wylie, age 23, died in Yorktown, New York on Saturday, October 11, 2008.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 at 2:30 P.M., with the Reverend Wade McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Grove cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service.

Kevin was born on January 15, 1985 in Anahuac, TX to James Earl Wylie and Melinda Jo Hatfield Wylie. He graduated from the West Hardin High School in 2003 and joined the Army. He was a combat engineer stationed at Fort Hood, TX. Kevin enjoyed hunting, fishing, motor cycles and jet skiing. He was a Little League baseball coach and coached wining teams. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Kevin is preceded in death by two grandfathers: Thomas Earl Wylie and Guy E. Hatfield.

Survivors are his parents, James and Melinda Wylie of Rye, TX.; a wife, Brandi Leann Wylie of Temple, TX.; sister, Casey Nichole Wylie of Rye; two grandmothers, Bennie Jo Hatfield of Anahuac, and Bonnie Charles Foster of Rye, numerous aunts, uncles and a host of friends and other family members.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Bledsoe

Funeral services for Billy T. Bledsoe, 73, will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Pace-Stancil in Cleveland, Texas.

A graveside service will follow at the Cleveland Memorial Park.

Billy died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Tomball Regional Hospital. He was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on January 26, 1935, the nineth of nine children born to John Roland Bledsoe and Lillian Harrington Bledsoe. He married Velma Phillips on September 16, 1955, in Pasadena. Both were long-time residents of Cleveland, until moving to Hardin in 2000.

Bill was preceded him in death along with his wife, Velma Phillips Bledsoe; parent’s John and Lillian, brother’s John, Neal, and sister Jean.

Survivors include his daughters, Gwen Kelley and husband, Billy of Tomball; Connie Murray and husband Gary, of Kenefick; Wanda Nelma and husband, Morris, of Hardin; Jennifer Lott and husband, Jimmy of Hardin; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, sisters, Martha Starks, Lucy Reeves and husband, Don; Mary Lively; Floria and husband, Jim Damon.

McCarty

Shirley Faye McCarty, age 73, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 in Beaumont.

Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A graveside service will be held 10 A.M., Saturday at Cooke Memorial cemetery, Liberty with the Rev. Dick Lintleman to officiate.

She was born in Paris, Texas on May 31, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Otis and Dorothy Lewis Ferguson. She was a co-owner of McCarty Vacuum Service with her husband. Faye loved to sew, work in her garden, as well as cook for her family.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Charles Ferguson. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 54 years, Jimmy “Rick” McCarty of Liberty; daughter, Pamela Robbins and her husband Wesley of Liberty; son, Randy McCarty of Liberty; sisters, Virginia Walker and her husband Charles, Donna Baer and her husband Larry and Sarah Lands; brother, Gerald Ferguson and his wife Eileen; grandson, Tyler Robbins and his wife Ashley. In addition she leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Faye will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Gary

Rebecca Lynn Gary, 46, of Dayton, Texas died on Monday, October 13, 2008. She was born on November 16, 1961 in Jasper, Texas to Thomas Wayne and Mary Helen Harvey.

Rebecca was an extremely remarkable woman who had a big heart and was “mom” to all. She enjoyed her computer, crocheting and talking to friends on the phone.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Shead Thomas Harvey; son, Baby Boy Lawrence; maternal grandmother, Mary Molly Hennigan; paternal grandmother, Fairest Thelma Harvey; and maternal grandfather, William Nathan Hennigan. She is survived by her loving husband of over 25 years, Raymond Earl Gary, Sr.; son, Raymond Earl Gary, Jr.; daughters, Regena Lynn Jeane and husband Ronnie Dale; Rachael Michael Harvey, and Claire Chambers; parents, Thomas Wayne and Mary Helen Harvey; sister, Doris Marie Gates; brother, Kenneth Wayne Harvey; 8 grandchildren, Hunter Drake Pentecost, Dawson Ray Gary, Devin Kade Gary, Raejah-Nae Uttley, Tyler Dale Jeane, Amber Leanne Jeane, Ronnie Darrell Jeane, Hayden Chambers; and numerous other relatives and close friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, October 16 at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. A service of remembrance will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 17 at Sterling Funeral Home with interment to follow in Palms Memorial Park.

Tabb

Kenneth Paul Tabb, 73, of Dayton died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in Baytown. He was born August 12, 1935 in Scott, Louisiana to parents: William Tabb and Bernice Crader Tabb. He had been a resident of Dayton since 1957 after moving from Scott, Louisiana, and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, a life member of the Nolan D. Pickett VFW Post #5621, coached Little League, enjoyed baseball, football, and talking with his friends. He retired from US Steel where he was a welder.

Graveside Services for Mr. Tabb will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 17, 2008 at Rabey-Parsley cemetery in Evangaline, Louisiana. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A wake will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday.

Mr. Tabb was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Ken Tabb, Jr., his brothers, Keith Joseph Tabb and Yvonne Hicks. He is survived by his daughters: Sara Roberts of Houston, Tammy Roche of West Wego, LA, Penny Fregia of Dayton, Tina Tarver of Dayton; his sons: Lorin Tabb of Pinedale, WY, Michael Dufrene of Franklinton, LA, and Tracy Sackett of Dayton; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his sister: Dorothy Logue of Dayton; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Caughman

Fredrick “Freddy” Leon Caughman, age 63, of Cleveland, Texas, died Friday, October 10, 2008. He was born in Goose Creek, Texas on March 8, 1945 to Clarence and Lillian Caughman who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Ray Caughman and Tom Caughman.

Bro. George Hayden will conduct funeral services held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Survivors include his loving wife, Doris Henry Caughman, daughters and sons-in-law, Dana Jackson and husband, Gerald, Mindy Ferguson and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Brandy Skinner, Gerald L. Jackson II and dear friend, Tabby Hinote; great-granddaughter, Sierra Jackson; nephew and nieces, Scott Caughman, Brenda Brown, Lisa Watson, and Gina Gill; uncle, Marion E. Caughman with many other loving family members and treasured of friends beyond measure.

Graig

Ethel Carrie Craig, age 84, of Hull, TX., died at her home on Friday, October 10, 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel 1101 North Travis Street Liberty, TX., at 2:00 P. M. with the Rev. Tony Hines and Rev. Jerrol Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Moss Hill Community cemetery. A visitation will be held before the service, starting at 12 Noon on Sunday.

Ethel was born on February 15, 1924 in Weeks Island, LA., to Edward A. Fields and Cecile Pinell Fields and she graduated from the Franklin Louisiana High School in 1941. She married Thomas Lester ‘Pete’ Craig on November 16, 1941 in Jennrette, LA. She was a switch board operator for a number of years. They moved to the Liberty County area in 1954 and she worked in the cafeteria at the Hardin ISD before retiring. They were members of the Moss Hill United Pentecostal Church. Ethel was the tenth of twelve children and cooking was her thing. She shared the food with many, and she enjoyed working in her garden. Ethel was a care giver and spent a lot of time making dolls with beads.

Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, an infant son: Dwight Mitchell Craig, and her ten brothers and sisters. The survivors are her husband of 66 years: Thomas ‘Pete’ Craig of Hull, TX. a son: Tommy Craig and special friend Florence Green of Hull, Pamela Sue Creel and husband Glenn of Hardin, Becky and Dave Johnson of Whitehouse, TX. a brother: Eugene Fields of Lake Charles, LA., four grandchildren: Gordon Creel and wife Jennifer, Karrie Hamons and husband Foy, Jeremy Creel and wife Amanda, and Kolby Burmaster and wife Candace, and four great grandchildren: Hunter and Grayson Creel and Emma and Ethan Hamons. And a host of other family members and friends. The special care givers: Jeanette, Barbara, Sharon, Bessie, Heather, and Deborah, and Dr. Reese Brown and staff and the Staff of Angels Above Us.

Romine

Allen G. Romine, 75, of Rye died Friday, October 10, 2008 at home after an extended illness. He was born July 7, 1933 in Mr. Lakes, New Jersey to parents: George A. and Pearl Lynch Romine. He graduated from Parsippany High School in New Jersey and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had lived in Rye for the past 25 years after moving from Deer Park where he worked in construction. Mr. Romine loved his family, especially his grandchildren and he enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Graveside service for Mr. Romine will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Concord cemetery with Rev. J. S. Hartman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter: Cindy Cassel. He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Ingle L. Beins Romines of Rye; his sons: Peter Beins and wife Krish of Missouri City and Allen G. Romine, Jr. of Rye; his daughter: Kathleen Moore and husband Mike of Liberty; Grandchildren: Ryan, Deeann, Roxanne, Raeann, and Anna; Great-Granddaughter: Allison; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Williams

James Paul Williams, 61, of Dayton died Thursday, October 9, 2008 in Houston after an extended illness. He was born June 24, 1947 in Fairmont, West Virginia to parents: Francis Marion Williams and Lena Alice Williams. He served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam and lived in the Dayton area for the past 25 years. He had been employed by Brown and Root, enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and being with his family and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. A memorial for will Mr. Williams be held at a later time. He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by numerous family and friends.

Welder

William Duncan Welder, III, 54, died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at South Padre Island.

He was born May 7, 1954 in Baytown, Texas to parents: William Duncan Welder, Jr. and Wanda Nell “Rickie” Simmons Welder. Duncan was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he graduated from Dayton High School in 1972, attended Texas A & M University and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty. He had worked in operations support at Chevron for the past 31 years, was a longtime resident of Dayton before moving to South Padre two years ago, enjoyed sailing, traveling, cooking, gardening, and was avid reader.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty with interment to follow at Liberty Catholic Church. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Pallbearers are John Amos Welder, Merlin Thomas Collins, Jr., SPC Merlin Thomas Collins, III, Mike Henscey, Robert L. Urban, Scott M. Codon, John Harris Welder, and Richard Henscey. Honorary Pallbearers are James Patrick Welder Jackson Avery Welder, Dr. Bill Shea, Charles Edward Shea, and Peter Adams.

Mr. Welder was preceded in death by his grandparents: William D. Welder, Sr., Rosella Wilcox Welder, Oscar Simmons and Della Simmons. He is survived by his parents: Duncan and Rickie Welder of Dayton; his son: W. Duncan Welder, IV and wife Alicia of Dayton; his daughter: Ann L. Codon and husband Scott of Angelton; three grandchildren: Jackson Avery Welder, Kaitlyn Nell Welder and Carys Raga Welder all of Dayton; brothers: James Patrick Welder and wife Ann of Boerne, John Amos Welder and wife Trudy of Dayton, sisters: Mary Welder Collins and husband Tom of Huffman; Sarah Ann Adams and husband Peter of Richmond, IL, Patricia Suzanne Shea and husband Bill of Trondheim, Norway, also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Traywick

David E. Traywick, age 72, of Devers, TX. died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in a Beaumont Hospital.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street Liberty, Texas 77575 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in the Whittington cemetery, Devers, Texas. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Allison Funeral Service from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P.M.

David was born on October 21, 1935 in Horatio, AR., to Jewell Traywick and Vera Pettigrew Traywick. David graduated from the Liberty High School in 1953. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and attended and graduated from Lamar University. David married Kenna Lalon Ray on August 1, 1958 in Devers, TX. He managed the Nome Supply Company in Nome, TX and knew almost every thing about farm equipment. David was a real fisherman and he enjoyed hunting also. David was a member of the Devers Methodist church and the Devers School Board.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Survivors are his wife Kenna Lalon Traywick of Devers, TX. sons: Wayne Robert Traywick and wife Pat, Darrin Ellis Traywick and wife Angie, brothers: Winford, Glendale, and Lee Traywick, sisters: Wanda Vern Lee and Waniese Bautsch and six grandchildren: Tracey, Darrick, Angie, Candy, Jay, and Audra Traywick.

King

Elby “Buddy” King, 73, of Dayton died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at home. He was born November 21, 1934 in Blytheville, Arkansas to parents Clyde and Lillie Wilson King.

Mr. King had lived in this area for the past 35 years, moving from Pasadena. He was a carpenter by trade, enjoyed welding, woodworking and bar-b-qing.

Services for Mr. King will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lowell Carraway officiating.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Bobby Jo King and Clyde L. King, Jr.

He is survived by his sons: David King and wife Lanelle of Dayton, Roy L. Ethridge

Herman E. Ethridge, 61, of Dayton, died Monday, October 6, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2008, at the Crosby Church. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Herman was born May 8, 1947 in Houston, to parents; Ray and Billie Clements Ethridge, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 15 years. He was a graduate of Cy-Fair High School, veteran of the US Army with service during Vietnam, member of the Anahuac Masonic Lodge #955 and Crosby Church, and enjoyed rodeos, team roping, saddle bronc riding, and hunting.

Mr. Ethridge was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Velma Jean Black. He is survived by his wife: Deborah Buckles Ethridge of Dayton, daughters: Anna Golightly of Bellville, Julie Swoboda and husband Blake of Cypress, Jennifer Wilson and husband Tray of Edmond, OK, and Angela Coleman and husband Mark of Houston, six grandchildren, brothers: Ray Ethridge and wife Annette of Loveland, CO, Harvey Ethridge and wife Mary of Houston, and David Ethridge of Tomball, sister: Pamela Vannis of Phoenix, AZ, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
