Jerry Wayne Boyett 52 of Hardin died Tuesday October 7, 2008 at his residence.

A native of San Antonio he lived in Hardin and worked in the Oilfield many years.

He is survived by his mother; Patricia Gail Evans of Houston, brother; Gene Boyette of Yonkers New York and Sister; Linda Bracewell of Moss Hill.

There will be a graveside service Wednesday October 8, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. At the Moss Hill cemetery in Moss Hill.

Childress

Funeral Service for Arthur Jay Childress, 46, of Hardin, Texas, will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008 at St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church, Ames, Texas at 1 P.M with Reverend Gregg Bellard, officiating with burial in Johnson cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Raywood, he was a graduate of Hull-Daisetta High School. Former employee of the Walmart Corporation, he was employed with the State of Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

He died Sunday, October 5, 2008 in an automobile accident.

A wake service will be held Friday October 4, 2008 at the church, Arthur leaves to cherish his memory one daughter: Quintosha Childress of Humble, Texas; his parents George and Lena Childress of Raywood, three brothers: George Larry Childress of Raywood, Donald Ray Childress and Jesse Carl Childress, both of Ames; four sisters: Arletha Childress of Liberty, Dana Childress of Houston, Tonya Childress and Hollie Childress, both of Ames, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Carroll

Steve E. Carroll, 59, of Liberty, died Saturday, October 4, 2008, in Houston.

A memorial celebration of life will be held at1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the family residence. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Steve was born December 30, 1948 in Andrews, to parents; Hubert and Lillie Mae Phillips Carroll, a former resident of Crosby, and has resided in the Liberty area for the past five years: He was a graduate of the Andrews High School class of 1967, had attended the Odessa College, was a veteran of the US Army with service during Vietnam, a self-employed oil field consultant, and was Baptist by faith. He also enjoyed antiques, gardening, hunting, and fishing.

Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 30 years: Becky Schuster Carroll of Liberty, sons: Steve E. Carroll, Jr. and wife Erica of Liberty, Jason Carroll and wife Ashley of Atascocita, and Bryan Carroll and wife Cheryl of Atascocita, daughter: Michelle McKenzie of Liberty, five granddaughters: Hunter, Alyson, Shelby, Khloe, Aimee, and one on the way, sister: Betty Harrelson of Demming, NM, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Beebe

Eva Beryl Beebe, 87, of Baytown, Texas died Saturday, October 4, 2008. She was born on January 1, 1921 in Sour Lake, Texas to Edgar and Virginia Hoover. Eva enjoyed oil painting, gardening, and reading. She also loved to watch and tape cooking and wildlife shows. Most of all, she loved spending time with her two daughters.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, Laura Harrington. She is survived by her two daughters, Virginia E. Lovings and husband Harley of Jasper and Mona McCraw and husband James of Daisetta; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous more relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, at 2:00 PM in Memory Gardens in Baytown. Arrangements are entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home 602 N Main St Dayton, Texas 77535. 936.258.2678. Condolences may be made online at www.sterlingfuneralhom.com

Anderson

Devin Keith Anderson, 24, of Dayton died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Liberty-Dayton Hospital in Liberty, Texas after a lengthy illness.

A mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 10:30 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Eastgate. Burial will follow at St. Anne’s cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A rosary will be at 6:00 pm Tuesday.

Devin was born January 3, 1984 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to parents; Vincent and Donna Anderson Petters. Mr. Anderson lived in the Dayton area most of his life. He was a graduate of Dayton High School and was employed as a sales associate with Wal-Mart. Devin was an altar worker in his church; he also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Devin was active in both FFA and 4-H. Devin loved being with his family and friends. He was a prankster and enjoyed making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his parents, sister: Sarah Petters; brother: Paul Petters; maternal grandparents: Donald and Betty Anderson; paternal grandparents: Jimmy and Evelyn Petters all of Dayton. Godparents: Katrina McNeely and Jeffrey Petters. Also many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Moseley

Herman Thomas Moseley, age 48, of Gilchrist, TX., died Saturday, September 27, 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101 North Travis Street Liberty, TX 77575 at 2:00 P.M., with the Reverend Clayton Taylor officiating with burial in the Williams cemetery, Liberty, TX.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 at Allison Funeral Service from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

‘Pee Wee’ was born on December 11, 1959 in Liberty, TX. to James Finis Moseley and Norma Lee Whitmire. He attended Liberty Schools and he was a construction worker and enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and just hanging out at the river and beaches.

He is preceded in death by his father, survivors are his mother; Norma Lee Rubin, of Winnie, TX., a son; Thomas Dwayne Moseley of Raywood, TX., brothers; Dwight Moseley and wife Lisa of Bridge City, TX., James Loyd Moseley, Jamey Warren Stratton of Lake Jackson, TX., Richard Frye and wife Stacey of Dayton, TX., and a host of friends also survive. Memorials may be made to the Herman Thomas “Pee Wee’ Moseley Fund in care of the Bridge City Bank, P. O. Box 887, Bridge City, TX 77611, account # 123699-06.

Eddleman

Carolyn Archer Eddleman, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died on September 29, 2008, after a brief illness.

She was a sixth generation Texan, born in Houston, but shortly after moved to Liberty, Texas, where she was raised.

She graduated from Liberty High School and attended Texas Christian University and the University of Houston.

She married the love of her life, William (Bill) Eddleman Jr., and moved to New York while he completed graduate studies.

The young family moved back to Houston where Carolyn worked for John Goss Realty.

After moving to Dallas in the 1980s, she worked for ten years as an arts and education advocate serving on seven charitable boards, including the Partnership for Arts Culture and Education, Texans for the Arts, State of Texas PTA, Cultural Arts Chairman, State Chairman Getty Center Conference for the Arts, Texas Coalition for Quality Arts Education, Texas Alliance for Education and the Arts, and Dallas ISD PTA Cultural Arts Chairman. The family later returned to Houston where Carolyn was active in the prayer and healing ministry of St. John the Devine Episcopal Church. Her passions were her faith, her family, friends and arts education for all Texas students.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Bill; sons, Christian and Harry; grandchildren, William David Archer and Madeline Mae Carolyn (expected in December); her “AFS son”, Dr. Andreas (Andi) Bruno of Munich, Germany; and daughter-in-laws, Lisa and Oona. She is also survived by her brother, John Christian Archer and his wife Nancy Mallory Archer of Liberty; their three children, spouses, and six grandchildren, and a host of numerous loving cousins.

Family and friends are invited to visit the family at their home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2008. A funeral service celebrating and commemorating Carolyn’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 2450 River Oaks Blvd., in Houston. There will be a reception after the service in the fellowship hall.

Interment will be in the Cochran Family cemetery, in Cold Spring, Texas, following the reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to His Father’s Heart Ministry, 5715 Northwest Central Drive, Suite F-109, Houston, Texas, 77092 (www.hisfathersheart.org) in which Carolyn and Bill have been very active.

Guidry

Donald F. Guidry, age 60, of Devers, TX., died at his home in Devers, TX on Sunday, September 28, 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel, at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Harry I. McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in the Sahara cemetery in Devers, TX. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Don was born on August 19, 1948 to Thomas Guidry and Ruby Lillian Freeman Guidry, in Beaumont, TX. and was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a computer master and was on the internet daily.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Thomas Edward Guidry. He is survived by a brother: William Nathan Guidry of Pasadena, TX., a cousin: Lisa Gale Gatlin, and care givers: Susan and Todd Rayon, and several other family members and friends.

Salazar

Nicolas “El Tigre” Huerta Salazar, 48, of Dayton, died Saturday, September 27, 2008, at the Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at the Primera Iglesia Bautista Church with burial following at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Nicolas was born October 5, 1959 in Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to parents; Jose Isabel Huerta and San Juana Salazar, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 27 years. He was an operator for Troy Construction, member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista Church, and enjoyed music and soccer.

Mr. Salazar was preceded in death by his mother: San Juana Salazar and brother: Miguel Angel Huerta Salazar. He is survived by his wife of 22 years: Alejandrina Huerta Navarro of Dayton, daughters: Zoraida Huerta of Dayton and Karla Zulema Huerta of Dayton, son: Alejandro Huerta of Dayton, father: Jose Isabel Huerta of Mexico, sister: Maria Santos Cantu Huerta and family of Pasadena, brothers: Martin Huerta Salazar and family of Dayton, Adelaido Vela Salazar, Jose Guadalupe Huerta Salazar, and Ramon Huerta Salazar and family all of Mexico, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Haley

Rilda (Barton) Vyoral Haley, 82, of Houston, Texas died Friday, September 26, 2008.

She was born September 21, 1924 to Rufus Fred and Effie Bell (Baily) Barton in Elton, Louisiana. Rilda was full of life--a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Rilda suffered a massive stroke in 1995 but lived these past years continuing to love her Lord, maintain her strong faith and keep her sense of humor.

Rilda was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Vyoral and Mack Haley; brothers Dale, Curtis and Pie; and sister, Ethel.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Tucker and husband Travis of Houston; son, Billy Vyoral of Stafford; grandchildren, Trace Tucker and wife Mary Ann, Trev Tucker, Crystal Dutka and husband Mike; Lindsey, Austin and Betsy Vyoral; great- grand children Aaron and Tracey Tucker.

Rilda will be In State at Sterling Funeral Home Tuesday, September 30. Friends and family are invited to gather at Sterling between 12:30 and 1:45 for a brief visitation before proceeding to Linney cemetery for a graveside service at 2:00 P.M. "Never say with grief she is no more, but say with thankfulness she was."

Chambers

Billie Blanche Chambers died on the Tuesday morning, September 23, 2008.

She was born Billie Blanche Mullins to T. W. and Hallie Mae Mullins on April 19, 1926. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1943, and married Allan Chambers in Liberty on June 17, 1943. She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty. Billie was a joyful and loving wife, a devoted mother, and a kind friend to all.

Billie Chambers was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Chambers; her daughter, Ann Chambers Beavers; and her grand-daughter, Shelley Beavers. She is survived by her brother Tommy Mullins and his wife Patsy; her sister Pat Watson and her husband Tom; her children—Peggy Chambers, Betsy Chambers Koen, Tommy Chambers and his wife Lee, and Nancy Chambers Buchholz and her husband Larry; her grandchildren—Tony Green Beavers and his wife Leslie, Laurie Blanche Moreno and her husband Mark, Paige Spiers Gorman and her husband Scott, Reed Spiers, Thomas Koen, Elizabeth Arias, and Andrew Chambers; her great-grandchildren—Harleigh, Preslie, and Parker Beavers, Myri and Luke Moreno, and Elle and Brynne Gorman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Thursday, September 25, at 10:00 a.m., with a visitation Wednesday, September 24, 2008, from 5pm until 8pm, with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Allison Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.

Newby

May Margarette Holland Newby, 71, of Old River Winfree passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 in Houston after an extended illness. She was born April 16, 1937 in Surrey, England. She attended schools in England, had lived in the Old River area for the past 8 years after moving from Omaha, Nebraska. She was a member of the Catholic Church, enjoyed cooking, gardening, and collecting teapots.

Services for Mrs. Newby will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2008 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father David Edwards officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, James F. Newby of Old River; her son: Thomas J. Newby and wife Terri of Des Moines, Iowa; and her daughter: Penny L. Vasquez and husband Dale of Bogata, Columbia; Six grandchildren; Numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graham

Ruth Parker Graham, 83, of Liberty, Texas, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at Northeast Medical Center in Humble.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at 1:00PM at Cooke Memorial cemetery in Liberty with Reverend Jay Barnes and Reverend Lynn Davis officiating.

Ruth was born on January 31, 1925, in Hull, Texas. She graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School. She worked for the Department of Agriculture ASCS offices in Liberty and Beaumont until retirement. She was Baptist by faith.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and a son, Alan Parker. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Grey Wilkinson of Conroe and Jo Beth and Pete Willoughby of Liberty; five grandchildren, Melanie Steitle, Grey Wilkinson, Amy Whitehead, Becky Mayes, Ryan Parker; nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Parker, Cooper, Carter, Luke, Loren, Sydney, Baxter, nieces and other relatives.

Dockens

Effie Sarah Dockens 75, died Thursday, September 18 2008, at the Nacogdoches Medical Center hospital.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2008 from 12:30 PM till 2:30 PM., services immediately following at 2:30 PM at First Baptist Church of Anahuac, TX, with burial in the Anahuac cemetery, Anahuac, TX.

Effie “Aunt Tootsie” was born on March 21, 1933 in Eagle, TX, to John Harvey Watson and Iris May Watson. She was employed by Anahuac ISD for more than 30 years as a food service cook prior to her retirement. She enjoyed her family and was know by many as “Aunt Tootsie”. Effie enjoyed dancing and she and her husband, Bobby, were members of the Haystackers Square Dance club. She is survived by Bobby, and children: Lonnie Lasseigne, Son, as well as Daughter, Redell Fontenot. Effie has 5 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Survivors also include brothers, Harvey Watson and Norman Watson; sisters, Lillian Lancon, Vertie Theileg and Ethel Grace Cumberland.

Funeral services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Services, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas.
