Johnny Glenn Welch Jr., 50, of Hardin, died Sunday, August 10, 2008, in Louisiana.

There will be a visitation at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty on Thursday, August 14, 2008, from 5-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008, at 10 A.M. at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty, TX. with Rev. Jeff Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin.

Johnny was born on January 13, 1958 in Liberty, TX to parents, Johnny Glenn Welch Sr. and Maxine Snider

Welch. He attended Hardin High School. He enjoyed fishing, camping and playing softball.

Johnny is survived by his parents; Maxine and Johnny Welch Sr., two brothers; Doug Welch and Jerry Lee Welch, one sister; Sara Walden, one daughter; Bridget Welch, two sons; Christopher Welch and Allen Glenn Welch, six Grandchildren; Bryanna Welch, Zane Vestal, Sky Welch, Bailey Welch, Aiden Welch, Dallas Welch, friend Donna Hatcher and nieces nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Wilson

Grace Wilson, age 97, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, in Liberty, TX.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty, Texas.

Grace was born on September 15, 1910 in Blooming Grove, TX., to William Daniel and Lulu Glenn Daniel. Grace was a graduate of the Blooming Grove High School and attended a business college in Beaumont. She married William Dan Wilson in 1961 in Baytown, TX., They were members of the Methodist Church and lived in the southeast part of Texas most of their lives.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters and two husbands: Lemuel Newton Smith and William Dan Wilson, and a son-in-law: Charles Victery. She is survived by daughters; Carolyn Smith Victery and Elinor Emmons of Virginia, a son; William Dan Wilson, Jr., one granddaughter; Jeri Tharpe and husband Dallas, and seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Richardson

Amos Richard Richardson, 72, of Rye, Texas, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at his home.

There will be a visitation at the Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis in Liberty on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 5p-8p. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 11 A.M. at Moss Hill Community cemetery with Reverend Ron Burnett officiating.

Amos was born on November 13, 1935, in Buna, Texas, to parents, Thomas R. Richardson and Minnie Lou Kirkindall Richardson. He was a retired truck driver and welder. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid fisherman.

Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, and one son; Ricky T. Richardson.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Zonia Brawley Richardson, one son; Amos Ray Richardson and wife Robin, one daughter; Zonia Kathleen Champagne and husband Lonnie, one sister; Iris Jean Miller, two brothers; James L. Richardson and Walter M. Richardson, six grandchildren; Arthur Ray Lynch and wife Filecia, Nathaniel Ray Richardson and wife Amanda, Holly Ann Richardson, Sommer Nicole Lynch and husband Steven, Coty Gentry and Joey Gentry, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575

Gere

Miklos Gere, 74, of Huffman, died Thursday, August 7, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Miklos was born November 7, 1933, in Hungary to parents; Miklos and Elizabeth Bonya Gere, a former resident of Goldthwaite, and has resided in the Huffman area for the past year. He was a retired contract painter, member of the Lake Houston United Methodist Church, and enjoyed watching TV and gardening.

Mr. Gere was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Velma Degracias Gere, son: Mickey Gere, and one sister. He is survived by his daughter: Cynthia Gere-Villarreal of Huffman, sons: Joseph Gere and wife Grace of Houston and Michael Gere and wife Kelly of Aubrey, six grandchildren, three sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Hughes

Martha Wilson Hughes, 75, of Anahuac, Texas, died Monday, August 4, 2008 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown after an extended illness.

She was born December 25, 1932 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and grew up in Wewahitchka and Port St. Joe, Florida. She graduated from Clark Junior College, majoring in Home Economics and serving on the college yearbook committee and attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She resided in Fayetteville, Tennessee and Lumberton, Texas for many years prior to moving to Anahuac, Texas in 1980.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Francis “Len” Hughes of Anahuac; three sons Chuck Hughes and wife Carol Hughes of Lumberton, TX, Frank Hughes and wife Dawn Hughes of Fayetteville, TN, Will Hughes of Anahuac, and daughter Susan Christopher of Anahuac; seven grandchildren Danielle and Ryan Hughes, Lindsay, Turner and Franklin Hughes, Grace and David Christopher; and sister Sarah and husband Rev. Aaron Lewis of Hernando, MS. She was preceded in death by parents Elmina and former Florida State Representative Charles Wilson and brother First Lt. Charles C. Wilson.

Martha loved sewing and taught others how to sew through her affiliation with the 4-H Club. She also loved painting, gardening, and fishing. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Anahuac and retired after 20 years of service with the Chambers County Appraisal District.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church in Anahuac with visitation from 12:00 noon till 2:00 pm and burial at Anahuac cemetery.

Kaufman

Murray Gene Kaufman, age 64, died Monday, August 4, 2008 at his home in Mansfield, LA.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, 2008, from 5pm until 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 10 A.M., at the Hardin Chapel cemetery, Hardin, TX., with the Rev. Kirby Lunsford officiating.

Murray was born on December 6, 1942 in Liberty, TX., to George Richard Kaufman and Florence Beatrice Rives Kaufman. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1961, and served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Murray was a welder and taught welding at a college in Louisiana.

Mr. Kaufman was preceded in death by his father, George Richard Kaufman, one son, Curtis Bryan Kaufman and two brothers, Allen Kent Kaufman and Dick Kaufman.

He is survived by his mother, Florence Beatrice Rives Kaufman; two daughters, Kelly Arlene Kaufman and Kyle Kiber Kaufman; one son, Justin Blake Kaufman and wife Lindsey; one brother, Jack Kaufman; one sister-in-law, Millie Kaufman; four grandchildren, Tyler Kaufman, Kayli Kaufman, Hannah Thomas and Kassie Buckner.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575

Ricke

Lawrence “Larry” Martin Ricke, II, 57 of Houston, died Monday, August 4, 2008. He was born November 15, 1950 in Houston, Texas to parents: Lawrence Martin Picke, Sr. and Lucille Siegert Ricke. He was a lifelong resident of the Houston area and received a Bachelors of Science Degree from The University of Houston. Larry was currently employed by Target Publishing. He had formally been a national radio talk show host, enjoyed reading, singing, playing the guitar and telling jokes. Larry was the great-great-grandson of John Steinbeck.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Ricke was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 11 years: Jamie Rublee Meekins-Ricke of Houston; his sisters: Laurel Arnold of Tomball, Mary Norwood of Salt Lake City, Utah, Joann Cain of Houston, and Glenda C. Befetzny of Houston; also a host of other relatives and friends.

Everett

Chad Andrew Everett, 37, of Dayton, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2008, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Chad was born February 24, 1971 in Pasadena, to parents; Billy Everett and Maribeth Smiley, a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past nine years. He was a dispatcher for Tracy Everett Freight Agency of Dayton for the past three years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, horseback riding, and the outdoors.

Mr. Everett is survived by his wife of nine years: Tracy Richard’ Everett of Dayton, stepdaughter: Monica Bergeron of Baytown, stepson: Chad Como of Baton Rouge, LA, father: Billy Everett, Sr. of Huntsville, mother: Maribeth Smiley of Burkeville, brother: Billy Everett, Jr. of Friendswood, nephew: Blake Everett of Baytown, niece: Alexis Everett of Friendswood, parents-in-law: Diane and George Latiolais of Addis, LA, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Schilling

Jeanna Gail Schilling, 44, of Dayton died peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, August 3, 2008 in Dayton.

She was born October 29, 1963 to parents Wilbur N. and Mildred L. White Schilling and was a lifelong resident of Dayton. Jeanna graduated from Dayton High School in 1982 and continued her education by attending Sam Houston University. She was very passionate about her writing and was an avid reader.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Barry Brown officiating.

Jeanna was preceded in death by her mother and her brother: Wilbur N. Schilling, Jr. She is survived by her father: Wilbur N. “Sonny” Schilling of Dayton; her brother: Ken Schilling and wife Debbie of Nassau Bay; her sister: Debbie Simpson and husband Marv of Orem, Utah; nephews and nieces: Don Schilling and wife Amanda and their children Dresden and Aiden; Deran Schilling and wife Amy, Dane Schilling and wife Melissa and their children Fera and Drake, Taylor Prewitt, Amber Creech and husband Taylor and their daughter Ava, and Aaron West. She is also survived by many other relatives and a host of friends.

Papola

Betty J. Burns Papola, 70, of Dayton, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at the San Jacinto Methodist Alexander Campus in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Betty was born September 12, 1937 in Port Lavaca, to parents; Jack and Aline Kirby Burns, a former resident of Corpus Christi, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 15 years. She was a retired waitress, homemaker, and a member of the Nolan D. Pickett VFW Post #5621 Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Mrs. Papola was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Frank Papola, one sister, and one brother. She is survived by her daughters: June Petty and husband Rex of Dayton, Janice Scroggs and husband Jay of Omaha, NB, Kathy Adams of Omaha, NB, and Linda Adams of Corpus Christi, son: Larry Adams of Corpus Christi, grandchildren: Royce Adams, Kelly and Kacie Petty, Justin and Christopher Adams, and Kevin Land, numerous great-grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Guin

Joseph Walter Guin, 84, of Dayton died July 30, 2008 in Baytown.

He was born July 5, 1924 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to parents Walter Joseph and Helen Katherine Ingram Guin. He attended Dayton High School and served during World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion and South Dayton Baptist Church. Mr. Guin had worked at Boyce Industries for many years where he was known as a very trusted employee, driving trucks and taking care of fixing almost anything. He loved his family and really enjoyed feeding the squirrels.

Service for Mr. Guin will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harvey Drake officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Virgie May Wade and Ruth Gifford. He is survived by his wife: Joyce Lowe Guin of Dayton and his sister Margaret Brothers of Dayton; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

George

Luvada George, age 85, of Rye, TX., died Tuesday, July 29, 2008.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the FirstConcord Baptist Church, C. R. 2132 Rye, TX., at 11:00 A. M. with burial in the Concord cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street Liberty, Texas from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M.

She was born on April 8, 1925 in Clark, TX., to Daniel Fowler and Ollie Cain Fowler. She graduated from the Hull-Daisetta High School in 1941.

She was a meat wrapper for the Rice Food Market in Houston. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and the Baptist church. Luvada enjoyed gardening, and raising goats, and working her tree farm.

Luvada is preceded in death by her parents. Her survivors are two sons: Charles George of Cleveland, TX., and Joseph Aaron and Judy George of Austin, TX., two daughters: Virginia Dwyer and Rita Faye George, a brother: Ercel and Frances Fowler of Huffman, TX., and a sister Gertrude Young of Alaska, two grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Johnson

Marian D. Johnson, age 96, died on her birthday Thursday July 31, 2008 at Liberty Healthcare with her beloved family by her side.

She was born July 31, 1912 in South Portland, Maine the daughter of the late Henry F. Cheney and Mary Roberts Cheney. Marian loved to travel, play cards and was extremely outgoing.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Benjamin Johnson in 1946. In addition she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Frederick and Raymond Cheney and her sisters Mildred Cheney and Virginia Caldwell.

She leaves behind her beloved children, Mary Walton and her husband Daniel of Liberty and James Johnson of Framingham, MA. She also leaves her four grandchildren; Michael and David Johnson; Robert and David Daughtry; four great-grandchildren; Jessica, Dylan, Davis and Devin Daughtry. Marian will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-9pm at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. Dayton. Funeral services will be private.
