Wiggins

Clarence Hilton Wiggins, 81, of Dayton, Texas died Monday May 12, 2008. He was born on February 7, 1927 to Morgan and Lottie (McMillen) Wiggins in Corrigan, Texas.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mike Wiggins; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Wiggins; daughters, Patsy Ulkie and husband Archie of Dayton and Linda Jenkins and husband Marvin of Kenefick; brother, Luther Wiggins of Victoria; daughter-in-law, Cindy Wiggins of Hull; 6 grandchildren, Mathew, Amanda, Heather, Patty, Julia, and James Michael; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home 602 North Main Street Dayton, Texas 77535. 936.258.2678.

Taylor

Maddyson Grayce Taylor died May 11, 2008 at Memorial Hermann.

She was the infant daughter of Amanda Lynn Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents Hatina, Doris Jane Hudson, great aunt Hilda and a cousin Jonathan Lesley Christy.

She leaves behind her mother Amanda of Crosby, grandparents George and Sharon Taylor, Sister Emily Faith Patrick, Aunt and Uncle Leslie and James Manly, Beth and Stanley Christy.

In addition she leaves behind numerous other relatives. Sterling Funeral Home 602 N. Main Dayton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Darbonne

Bernice Tanner Darbonne, 86, of Liberty died on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Liberty/Dayton Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 3 P.M. at the Allison Funeral Service. Burial services will be private.

Bernice was born in Orange, TX to parents, Pearl and Mary Tanner and attended Hull-Daisetta High School. She was a home maker and enjoyed doing arts and crafts and garage sales. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Liberty.

Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Darbonne Jr.; parents; son, John B. Darbonne III and brother, Cliff Tanner. She is survived by her son, Donny Darbonne and his wife Marilyn; grandchildren, John B. Darbonne IV and his wife, Kelley, Chad, Cullen and Brittany Darbonne. Two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Aedan Darbonne and a host of friends also survive.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Douglas

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ethel Lucille Douglas, 74, of Hardin will be held Saturday, at 10 A. M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Reverend Father David Edward, Celebrant, with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.

A native of Hardin, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a graduate of Liberty Training High School, an accounting clerk in hotel business.

She died May 12, 2008 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown after an illness.

Visitation will be held Saturday, 8:30 A.M. until time of service at the church.

She is survived by one brother Frank Burton of Baytown, and a very special niece Vera Hebert of Ames, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Blanchard

Clarence Joseph Blanchard, 83, of Hardin, went home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2008 at the Liberty/Dayton Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 16, at 10 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty, TX. There will be a visitation at the Allison Funeral Service in Liberty on Thursday, May 15, from 5-8 P.M with a Rosary at 7 P.M. Burial will be in the Liberty Catholic cemetery in Liberty.

Clarence was born on December 26, 1924 in Devers, TX to parents, Ezrail Blanchard and Aramance Arbie. He was active at local VFW Post 5621 in Liberty and enjoyed playing Bingo. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ruth Blanchard, two brothers and a sister.

Clarence is survived by his present wife, Myrtle Blanchard of Hardin; daughters, Shirley Patton, Cathi Blake and husband, Mark, Charla Cornell and Mary Ann Zorn; sons, Randy Gault and wife Jennifer and Tracy Gault and wife Theresa, Tommy and Ronnie Martin. Two sisters, Dorothy Rogers and Shirley Collins; a number of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren also survive.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 936-336-6418.

Aguilar

Our little angel, Jennifer Aguilar of Dayton, died after only 8 short years on this earth.

She was born on August 21, 1999 to Rogelio and Mariana (Collazo) Aguilar in Houston, Texas.

Jennifer loved to play her guitar and dance. She also enjoyed embroidering and sewing. Jennifer will be missed by all who knew her.

Jennifer is survived by her parents; sister, Maria Aguilar; brother, Rogelio Aguilar, Jr.; grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, May 15 from 4:00 until 10:00 PM and Friday, May 16 from 4:00 until 10:00 PM with a rosary service at 7:00 PM on Friday at Sterling Funeral Home.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 17 at Sterling Funeral Home with interment to follow in Palms Memorial Park.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sterling Funeral Home 602 North Main Street Dayton, Texas 77535. 936.258.2678.

Aiken

James Pierce Aiken age 75 died Monday at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

He was born in Sinton, Texas December 2, 1932 the son of the late Alda Pierce Aiken and Epsie Virginia Mitchell Aiken.

James started his education in a one room school house outside of Buna, Texas. After finishing elementary, and junior high he started high school in Corpus Christie, he graduated however at Dayton High School.

James started off his professional life as a shoe shine boy at the age of ten, at twelve a paperboy, till he was eighteen when he started in the Oil Field. At twenty-two he became one of the youngest drillers at Loffland Brothers. He went on to be a tool pusher in Argentina and Columbia during his time in South America; he was a gulf driller, tool pusher for Baxter, Reading and Bates. He advanced himself, to Drilling Superintendent, Operation Manager, District Manager, then went on to Standard Ohio – BP Senior Drilling Superintendent. He retired for a short while and then went back to the Java Sea, Indonesia as a tool pusher for five years, returning to Dayton to retire.

He leaves his beloved wife Mary Evelyn (Jackson) Aiken, son James Ronald Aiken, Step-son Monty Trent Lott and his wife Rhonda Kaye Lott, Step-grandson Jackson Hunter Lott, Sisters Wanda Croft and her husband Howard “Scrap” Croft. In addition he leaves three nieces and a one very special niece “Rhonda “Dee Dee” Rayburn. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Joyce Morse and her husband George Raymond Morse Sr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-9pm at the Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St. Dayton, TX. Funeral services to be held 11am Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Ryan cemetery.

Kaps

Jess Ray Kaps, 71, of Dayton died Monday, May 12, 2008 in Baytown.

He was born January 12, 1937 in Pampa, TX to parents: Leland and Fredda Nell Reeves Kaps. A 1955 graduate of Borger High School, he continued his education at West Texas State receiving his BBA. He had resided in Houston where he had the Kaps and Chaddick CPA firm and had been a resident of Dayton for the past 16 years. Mr. Kaps was a member of the American Institute of COA, the Texas Society of CPA, and Houston Chapter of CPA. He took a very active part in the Dayton area where he was former board member of the Dayton Community Development Corporation, member of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce and the CAD Appraisal Review Board. He had a great passion for the outdoors, as he enjoyed traveling, hunting, and fishing.

Services for Mr. Kaps will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with interment to follow at Magnolia Park cemetery. The family will receive friends, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Jess was preceded in death by his parents and the mother of his children: Mary Jan Burks Kaps. He is survived by his wife of 16 years: Linda White Kaps of Dayton; his sons: Leland R. Kaps of Houston, John K. Kaps and wife Stacey of Houston, and Vaughn W. McClain and wife Kay of Harker Heights; his daughters: Jana J. Kaps Brautigam of Tomball and Cheryl L. Bradford and husband Robert of Dallas; his grandchildren: John Kevin Kaps, Jessica Kaps, Todd Ryan Kaps, Kyle Ray Kaps, James McClain Bradford and Sophia Gabriele Bradford; his sister: Myra N. Kaps Kaplan and husband Richard of Denver, CO.; one niece, one nephew, other relatives and a host of friends.

Dangerfield

Funeral Service for Robert Deon Dangerfield, 22, of Liberty, Texas will be held at 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Mt. Rose Baptist Church with the Reverend L. C. Speights officiating with burial in Evergreen cemetery, Crosby, Texas.

A native of Baytown, Texas he was a graduate of Liberty High School and a member of Mt. Rose Baptist Church. He was employee with the Sonic Corporation.

He died May 9, 2008 in Kinder, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 9 A.M. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his father; Douglas Dangerfield, Sr. of Liberty, his stepmother: Debra Dangerfield, of Liberty, his son: Keaton Shane Blanchard of Dayton, Texas; one brother: Douglas Dangerfield, Jr. of Kinder, Louisiana; two sisters: LaTonya Horne, of Houston and Yolanda Jones, of Kinder, Louisiana and a host of other family and friends.

Hardy

Gordon Milton Hardy, age 64, of Dayton (Tarkington Prairie), Texas, died May 10, 2008. Gordon was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 5, 1943 to Eddie and Mary Louise Hardy. He retired from Exxon after 33 years.

He is preceded in death by both his parents and his brother, David Glenn McBride. Survivors include is loving and devoted wife, Carole Hardy; daughters, Rebecca Miller and husband, Douglas, Cheryl Gilbert and husband, Dennis, Katherine Hellyer and husband, Ross; sister, Sandra Lynn Heck; grandchildren, Jason Miller and wife, Stephanie, Brandon Miller, Esther Gilbert, Micah Gilbert, George Hellyer, Justin Hellyer, Elizabeth Hellyer; great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Ryan, and Rebecca Miller, Whitley Christopher, and Collin Jones; nephew, Carl David McBride; nieces Glenda Hyde and husband, Jimmie, and Krystal McBride. There are many other cherished family members and caring friends beyond measure.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2008, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Dennis Gilbert will conduct memorial services on the following day, May 14, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Rural Shade Church, Cleveland (Tarkington Prairie), Texas.

Freeman

Dennis Earl ”Big D” Freeman, 49, of Batson died Saturday May 10, 2008 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Born in Henderson TX to Earl and Earlene Freeman Dennis taught Agriculture Science for 25 years At West Hardin I.S.D. of Saratoga.

He is survived by his parents Earl and Earlene Freeman of Henderson, Sister; Sue Smith of Channelview, Niece; Natalie Smith of New Caney, Special Aunt and Uncle Barbara and Dean Cravey of Henderson, Special friends; Eddie and Shobie Nichols of Batson, Janice Kay Guedry of Liberty, Bob and Lesa Guedry of Batson. Numerous Aunts, Uncle’s and Cousin’s.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday May 13, 2008 at 4:00 P.M. At West Hardin School of Saratoga with Reverend Wade McKinney officiating. The family will be receiving friends Monday May 12, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. Until 9:00P.M at First Baptist Church of Batson. Interment will follow at Stewart cemetery in Henderson TX.

Services are under the diretion of Faith and Family Funeral Services of Batson, TX.

Hearnsberger

Edith Hobbs Hearnsberger, 66, of Dayton, died Friday, May 9, 2008 in Beaumont, Texas after an extended illness. She was born February 24, 1942 in Loxley, Alabama to parents: William Washington and Farlene Nottingham Hobbs.

She had been a lifetime resident of the Dayton area, living for sometime in Washington, D. C. where she worked for the National Soft Drink Association in the 1970’s. She had worked as a bookkeeper before retiring. Mrs. Hearnsberger enjoyed traveling and quilting. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton and the Dayton Quilt Guild.

Memorial Service for Mrs. Hearnsberger will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. There will be no visitation.

She was preceded in her death by her parents; her husband: Roland Hearnsberger and her brother: Vernon Hobbs. She is survived by her sisters: Linda Clark of Dayton, and Kathy Worden and husband Les of Lumberton; her brothers: C.E. Hobbs and wife Marcia of Liberty, Arthur “Bitts” Hobbs and wife Baynes, and W.R. “Bobby” Hobbs and wife Johnnie of Cypress; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Callaway

Omie Kindom Callaway, 91, of Palestine, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at the St. James House in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Omie was born June 1, 1916 in Palestine to parents; Nicholas W. and Martha E. Wilson Callaway, was a former resident of Houston, and has resided in the Palestine area for 34 years. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps during WW II, retired operator for Exxon Chemicals of Baytown after 30 years of employment, member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhart and the Good Sams Camping Club, and enjoyed camping, fishing, working cattle, and traveling.

Mr. Callaway was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter: Angela Faust, sisters: Florence Faulk, Juanita Kennedy, Prudie Ganes, and Eunice Segrest, and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Gertrude A. Metz Callaway of Palestine, daughters: Brenda Callaway Cox and husband Billy of Baytown, Pat Callaway Walden and husband Rocky of Dayton, and Martha Callaway Faust and husband Dwayne of Austin, son: Steve Callaway and wife Barbara of Baytown, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
