Barton

Daniel Walter Barton, age 82, died Saturday March 8, 2008 at his home.

He was born in Andalusia, Alabama the son of the late Burie Walter Barton and Roberta (Crow) Barton.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan Matilda Light Barton in 2003.

He leaves behind his children Roger Dale Barton, Richard Barton, and Harriet Shoemaker. In addition he leaves a grandson Roger Dale Barton Jr. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. A graveside service will be held 2 pm Thursday at Concord cemetery, Rye, Texas.

Weeks

Opal Lee Cantrell Weeks, 76, of Dayton, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in Livingston after an extended illness.

She was born February 4, 1932 in Goose Creek, Texas to parents, John S. and Gertrude Johnson Cantrell. She had been a long time resident of Dayton before moving to the Cleveland area 10 years ago, was a member of the Pentecostal Church, enjoyed cooking, loved being with her family and enjoying her two dogs.

Graveside services for Mrs. Weeks will be Monday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial cemetery with Rev. Jeff Day officiating.

Mrs. Weeks was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: James “Jimmy” Weeks; grandson: Eddie F. “Little Eddie” Weeks; brothers: David Cantrell, Roy D. Cantrell, Richard Cantrell, and Johnny Cantrell; and her sister: Marie E. Brooks. She is survived by her sons: James Weeks and wife Wendy of Dayton; Eddie Weeks and wife Tina of Cleveland; daughters: Dorothy Odom and husband Chester of Pasadena and Marie Hicks and husband Ed of Splendora; ten grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Anderson

Gwendolyn Anderson, age 62, of Hull, died Saturday March 8, 2008 at her home.

She was born December 28, 1945 in Liberty, TX the daughter of the late Al Sirman and Mary Hooper Sirman. A nurse for many years she was always a giver, she was known for her great cooking, her love of hunting, her ability to tend to her garden and her devotion to her family. She was a graduate of Hull Daisetta High School in 1964 and went on to attend Cleveland School of Vocational Nursing graduating in 1975.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of forty-four years, Kenneth E. Anderson of Hull, sisters Donna Broussard of Hull, TX, Sherryl Duran and her husband Daniel of Lake Jackson, TX and a brother Buddy Sirman and his wife Pat of Natchez, Mississippi. In addition she leaves numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Sunday at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, TX. Funeral services to be held 2pm Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Lonnie Jordan officiating. Burial to follow in Concord cemetery, Rye, TX.

Guerrero

Claude Emil Guerrero of Hardin, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the V.A. Hospital in Houston.

He was born July 21, 1931 to parents Prudencio Guerrero and Frances Carroll in Victoria, TX. He worked as a truck driver.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eddie Jones, Willie Kutchka, Alvin Kutchka and Napoleon Guerrero and sisters: Ruby Alders, Elizabeth Kutchka, Sophie Walters, Mary Guerrero, Annie Guerrero and Sulema Traber.

He is survived by his brother, Elmer Guerrero and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, March 8 at 3 P.M. at the Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin.

Scott

Prentice James Scott, Sr., of Hardin, died on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Liberty/Dayton Hospital.

A visitation will be held from 9 A.M. until 10:50 A.M. prior to the 11 A.M. funeral service on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Church of Christ, 3201 North Main, Liberty, TX.

Prentice was born to parents, Frank and Nada Scott on July 7, 1932 in Liberty, TX. He attended school in Hardin ISD. He was employed by Roeling Construction for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a very devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Prentice James Scott, Jr. and daughter, Robert Loretha Scott.

Left to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 50 golden years, Sewilla Scott; his loving children, George Scott, James Scott, Harold Scott, Janet Carrier, Vanessa Scott, Tiffaney Morgan and husband Wayne, and Cynthia Simmons and husband Kenneth; sisters: Velma Batise, Mary Minon, Gracie Bias, Wanda Bell and brother-in-law, Johnell and his brothers: Benny Scott and sister-in-law, Gwen, and Brendall Scott. Twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive.

Jerman

Claude ‘E.J.” Jerman, age 61, of Smith Point, died Saturday March 1, 2008 in a Anahuac Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 6:00 P.M., at the Smith Point Baptist Church.

‘E.J.’ was born on June 22, 1946 in Washington D.C., to Robert Lee Jerman and Evelyn Lee O’Bannon. He was an U.S. Army Veteran and a carpenter. He enjoyed race cars and seeing after his wife of 24 years, Susan Elizabeth Madden Jerman. ‘E.J.’ was a member of the Smith Point Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Robert Lee Jerman, Jr., a sister: Ruth Jerman, a step-son: Robert Paul Okas, and a nephew: Gary Bradley Arnett.

Survivors are his wife: Susan Elizxabeth Jerman of Smith Point, TX., daughters: Evelyn Marie Jerman, of Bradford, PA., and Ka Sandra Marie Jerman of Smethport, PA., sons: Daniel Scott Oaks of South Gate, Mich., James Glenn Avery and Harold Lee Oaks, Jr., three brothers: Ralph Jerman and wife Wanda, of VA, Petey Jerman, of VA, and Kenneth Jerman of VA., a sister Mary Lee Cavender of WA, 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Jenkins

Funeral Service for Kenneth Ray Jenkins, 52, of Dayton, Texas, will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1406 Beauty, Dayton, Texas, with the Reverend Doctor R. J. Revels, Sr. officiating, with burial in Acie cemetery, Dayton, Texas.

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, he graduated Dayton High School. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

He died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, Baytown, after an illness. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 A M until time of service.

He is survived by his mother, Margie Smith of Dayton, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Madrid

Margaret Mendoza Madrid, age 67, of Anahuac, TX, died Friday, February 29, 2008 in a Baytown Nursing Home. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Sterling Funeral Home 1201 South Main Street in Anahuac, TX., from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Margaret was born on July 29, 1940 in San Antonio, TX., to Richard Mendoza and Magdalena Garcia Mendoza. She graduated from the Brackenridge High School and the St. Phillips School of Nursing. She was a LVN and worked in the Health Care Field. Margaret was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness and looking after her grand children and great grand children was the joy of her life.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Elenor Mendoza and a son: Jesse Bueno, Jr. She is survived by her children: Albert and Linda Castillo, of Odessa, TX, David and Dianne Mendoza of Fort Worth, TX., Richard Gonzales of Boca Retain, FL., Mary Frances Hernandez of Anahuac, Rosario Mendoza of San Antonio, TX., Guadalupa Mendoza of Odessa, TX, Claudia and Manuel Garrasco of Andrews, TX., Margarita and Jamie Ramirez of San Diego, CA., a sister: Mary Frances Deleon of Lancing, MI., and a brother: Ralph Mendoza, and 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Beeson

Mary Catherine Donnan Beeson, of Shepherd, Texas, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008.

Mary was born in Port Aransas, Texas and graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, Texas. She attended and graduated from Sam Houston State University. Mary received her Masters Degree from the University of Houston. She taught school in Shepherd and Cleveland Schools for over 30 years.

She is survived by her sons, Richard R. Beeson and John D. Beeson, their wives, Anna Brace Beeson and Margie Freeze Beeson. Her brother and his wife, David Heath and Jimmie Donnan. Jim Donnan of Center, Texas spent his high school days living with Mary and John. Her grandchildren, Laura, Bruce, Robert, Catherine, Ellen, Merajen, Dennis, and Larry; great-grandchildren, Chad, Jason, Tiffany, Bruce Jr., Caleb, Brent, McKinna, Breeland, Weston, Conner, Greg, Melissa, Ari, and Zoe; great-great-grandchildren, Landan, Faith, Veronica, and Monica. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Reagan Beeson, Jr.; they resided in Shepherd, Texas. Mary had a good life and is fondly remembered by many of her family, students, friends and associates.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 28, 2008, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 29, 2008 2:00 p.m. at the Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Farley Chapel cemetery, Shepherd, Texas.

Rivers

Funeral Service for Doretha M. Rivers, 88, of Colfax, Louisiana, will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at First Missionary Baptist Church, North Texas & Hamilton, Anahuac, TX, with the Reverend Peter Singleton officiating, with burial in Martha Godfrey cemetery, Double Bayou, Texas.

A native of Anahuac, she worked as a License Vocational Nurse for Bayside Community Hospital and the Anahuac Independent School District. She was a Eagle Joy Chapter #426 Eastern Star and a Court of Calanthe member. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 A.M. until time of service. Remembering her in love is her daughter: Gladys Johnson; two grandsons; two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Hill

Gary Lee Hill, 23, of Cleveland, Texas, died. Gary was born in LaGrange, Texas on May 21, 1984; he was Baptist in faith and cherished the time he spent with his family. Survivors include his loving wife, Christie Marie Hill; daughters, Sierra Hill and a baby girl on the way, Carly Lynn Hill; Parents, Patsy and Clifford Hill; grandparents, Florance Williams and Juanita Hill; brother, Ricky and Penny Hill; sisters, Elisha and Robert Miller, Tonya and Chris Welch; nephews, Hunter Welch, Ricky Hill, Austin Welch, and Cameron Hill; nieces, Kelsey Miller, Shelby Miller and Sabrina Hill; with numerous other loving and caring family members and caring friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2008, Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Security cemetery, Security, Texas. Visitation will be held Monday, February 25, 2008, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Skinner-Marley

Evelyn Skinner-Marley, 76, of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, February 24, 2008. She was born in Alabama on October 31, 2008 to Lee and Flossie Allday who preceded her in death along with her husbands, George Skinner and Grady Marley; son, Larry Daniel Skinner.

Survivors include her sons, Roger Darrell Skinner, Troy Duran Skinner and wife, Darlene; daughter, Terri Livingston and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Teresa, Cinnamon, Brandy, Morgan, and Baby Troy; brother, Jim Allday, Quincey Allday; sister, Shelly; numerous nieces, nephews, and many other cherished family members and caring friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Old Big Creek, Shepherd, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Knowles

Lesa Donnette Knowles, 49, of Cleveland, Texas, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008. Lesa was born in Cleveland on September 25, 1958.

She is leaving behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Dennis Knowles; son Derek Knowles and wife, Ashley; daughter, Kelly Simmons and husband, Davis; granddaughter, Madison Simmons; expecting baby boy, Simmons; parents, Henry and Margie Placker; brothers, Mickey Placker, Clift Placker and wife, Becky, Timothy Placker and wife, Stephanie; sister, Tina Hunt and husband, Mike; Kim McShan and husband, Kevin; grandmother, Joyce Kelley, with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving and caring family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 24, 2008, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Pastor Larry Reinecke will conduct funeral services Monday, February 25, 2008, 12:00 Noon at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Brookside cemetery, Houston, Texas.

Noack

Kyle Louis Noack, 25, of Dayton, Texas, died February 21, 2008 in Houston, Texas.

Kyle was born on July 22, 1982 in Houston, Texas to Kenneth Noack and Bernice Gollrad. Kyle has lived in the area all of his life and worked as a deckhand. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars, motorcycles, roping and spending time with his family. Kyle was a very kind and caring person that will be missed by all that knew him.

Kyle is preceded in death by his grandparents Lenora and Albert Noack, grandparents Vernon and Bernice Gollrad and grandmother Jessie Chappelle. He is survived by his parents Kenneth and Cheryl Noack, mother Bernice Gollrad, brother Jeremy Noack and wife Jamie, brother Hunter Noack, sister Taylor Gollrad, nephew Legend McCharen, nephew Jeremy Noack, nephew Jayden Noack, grandparents Audrey and Nathan Marks and many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday February 24, 2008 from 3-8pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday February 25, 2008 11am at Our Savior Lutheran Church 5000 West Tidwell Houston, Texas with interment following at Memorial Oaks cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made in Kyle’s memory to the Our Shepherd Lutheran Church building fund, 19704 FM 2100, Crosby, Texas 77532.

Fingleman

Jeffery Mark Fingleman, 52, of Kenefick, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at home after an extended illness. He was born October 5, 1955 in Dayton to parents: Edwin and Eunice B. Bundrick Fingleman. He was a life long resident of this area, graduated from Dayton High School in 1974 and was Vice-President of the French cemetery Association. He had worked for JV Industrial in Houston, enjoyed baseball, gardening, woodworking, hunting and fishing. Jeff most of all loved his family and enjoyed his dogs.

Memorial service for Jeff will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sisters: Olivia Fingleman of Dayton, Christine Roark of Trout, Louisiana, Marsha Griffin of Dayton, and Edwina Cost and husband Jacky of Dayton; his brother: Mike Fingleman and wife Jo Anne of Norristown, Pennsylvania; also numerous other relatives, friends, and his dogs, Kramer and Bob.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to The French cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1103, Dayton, Texas 77535.

Jones

Raphael Jones, 72, died February 16, 2008 at Methodist Hospital.

He was born on February 26, 1935 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to parents, Henry Jones, Sr. and Eve Jones. Raphael was a devoted employee at Damek Rice Farms. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.

Raphael is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Evelena Jones; and brothers, Bobby Jones and Abrown Richard. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Jearline Jones; sons, Marvin Jones, Sr. and wife Wonda, Ray Jones, Jr. and wife Stacey and Ralph Jones and with Anita; daughters, Betty Thomas and husband Henry, Linda Collins and husband Ray, Lois Jones, and Felicia Smithers; brothers, Mitchell Jones and Henry Jones; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other close relatives and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday, February 23 at Eastgate Church, 1707 CR 611 Dayton, TX. A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM at Eastgate with Reverand Frank Thomas officiating.

Kelley

Travis Kelley, 69, of Cleveland, Texas, died Saturday, February 16, 2008. Travis was born in Conroe, Texas on September 26, 1938 to Clint N. and Jimmie O. Kelley who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Bobby Kelley and Steve Wheeler.

Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Kelley; brother Jimmy Kelley and wife, Carolyn; niece, Virginia Unger and husband, Norman; great-nephews, Sean and Cory Unger; cousin, Janice Kelley with numerous other cherished family members and caring friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2008, 12:00 Noon at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas, with internment at Conroe Memorial Park, Conroe, Texas.
