Robertson

Eldera Ann Robertson, 68, of Hankamer, Texas, died February 9, 2008 at her home in Hankamer. Eldera was born on May 11, 1939 in Devers, Texas, to Lige and Eldonia (Abshier) Brock. Eldera has lived in the Hankamer area all of her life and worked for the post office for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, cooking, going to church and most of all spending time with her family. Eldera was a very caring, kind and loving person that will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.

Eldera is preceded in death by her parents, husband Hugh Robertson, brother Claude Brock and brother Jesse Brock. She is survived by her son Richard Griffin and wife Leona, son Doug Griffin and wife Kim, son Brien Robertson and wife Shannon, daughter Deborah Metzler and husband Adam, sister Betty Hilton, brother Albert Brock, brother Hewit Brock and wife Donna, brother George Brock and wife Jean, brother David Brock and wife Carolyn, brother Edward Brock and wife Debbie, sister-in-law Pat Brock, grandchildren; Holly Griffin and husband Adam, Justin Griffin, James Griffin and wife Becky, Elisabeth Taylor and husband Daniel, Josh Griffin, Rachael Alford and husband Josh, Amanda Wilson, Devin Robertson, Conner Robertson, great grandchildren; Kyla Melendez, Gretchen Clark, Troy Pfeiffer, Joyce Ann Alford and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, February 11, 2008 from 5-8pm at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 12, 2008 2pm at the Hankamer Fellowship Church in Hankamer, Texas, with interment following at Abshier cemetery.

Dowdell

Judy Dowdell, 65, of Hull, TX, died February 8, 2008 in Beaumont.

She was born in Liberty, TX on February 4, 1942 to Austin and Jewell LeNormand. She was employed at Hull-Daisetta I.S.D. where she worked for several years.

Judy is survived by her daughter; Judy ”Jed” Dowdell, brother; Pete LeNormand and wife Mary of Trinity TX, Sister; Louise Powell and husband Bill of Hull, Sister – in-law Ethel LeNormand. A host of nieces, nephews, family, friends.

Funeral service will be held Monday, February 11, 2008 At Lighthouse Church of Moss Hill. Visitation will be held today Sunday February 19, 2008 at the church. Burial will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Services have been entrusted to Faith and Family Funeral Service, Batson, TX.

Tilton

Charles “Boob” Windel Tilton, age 70, died Thursday, February 7, 2008 at his home.

He was born in Mt. Belvieu February 12, 1937 the son of the late Addison Barbar Tilton and Georgia Ingles Tilton. He worked in construction and as a carpenter for many years. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and enjoyed hunting, his chicken and ducks.

He was preceded in death by his son Damon Lynn Tilton and his six brothers.

He leaves behind his beloved children Mary Francis Rakestraw and her husband Rusty of Anahuac, Addison Charles Tilton and his wife Tonya of Anahuac, Roscoe Milton Tilton of Anahuac, Mildred Elaine Massingill of Dallas a sister Lucy Ethel Malak of Old River and a sister-in-law Maxie Tilton of Old River. In addition he leaves twelve beloved grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 5-8 pm at the Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St. Anahuac. A graveside service will be held 1pm Monday at Tilton cemetery in Old River.

Locke

Myrtle Maxine Locke, died on Tuesday, February 5, 2008.

She was born in Northport, Alabama, on May 30, 1935 to Samuel Horace Akin and Gertie Estelle Akin. She moved to Houston, in 1949, met and married Maurice Locke in 1954 and they moved to Liberty, TX. Maxine was a member of many clubs in Liberty, including the Woman’s Club, the Garden Club and various others. She loved being outdoors and working in her garden and with her plants. The main love of her life was her family. She will be tremendously missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Murray O’Neal Akins.

Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Maurice Locke; three children, Debra Locke Branum of Houston, Ronald Locke and wife Vicki of Liberty, Traci Locke Aalund and husband Mike of Kingwood, along with four grandchildren: Alexandra Aalund, Danielle Aalund of Kingwood, Jason Locke of Liberty and Richard Branum of Houston. She is also survived by her brothers: Osweld Akin and his wife Francis, Donald Akin and his wife Elaine, and sister, Geraldine Clark and her husband Earl Clark. In addition, she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation of family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 06, 2008 from 6-8 P.M. at the Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 07, at 2 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Liberty. Interment will be in the City cemetery in Liberty following the service.

In lieu of the usual remembrances, a donation to the National Alzheimer’s Foundation can be made.

Terrell

Thomas Claude “T. C.” Terrell, 74, of Liberty, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in Houston after a brief illness.

He was born April 2, 1935 in Geneva, Texas to parents: William E. and Irene Phelps Terrell. He had lived in Liberty for over 42 years where he was owner and operator of Terrell’s. T.C. enjoyed old cars especially Cadillac’s. He was a member of the Cadillac Club and the Auburn Car Club. He loved his family, enjoyed all his friends and was a member of the Day Spring Church.

Services for Mr. Terrell will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. V. R. Hylton officiating. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children: Mary Louise Terrell; daughter: Mary Ann Terrell and his son: Russell Terrell. He is survived by his wife Joyce Mae Mott Terrell of Liberty; sons: Bill Terrell and wife Kathy of Liberty and Thomas Terrell and wife Joann of Liberty; daughters: Marilyn Terrell of Baytown and Cheryl Moomey of Liberty; daughter-in-law: Tammy Terrell of Liberty; Nine grandchildren and Seven Great-grandchildren; cousin; James and Inge Phelps of Houston; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marriott

Judy Ellen Marriott 62, of Liberty, died Monday February 4, 2008 at her residence.

A native of Anahuac she had lived in Liberty many years and was a homemaker.

Survivors are her sons; Tester and Lester Barnett of Houston, Daughter; Jane Marie Barnett of Houston, Brothers; J.D. Ainsworth of Hardin and Charles Ainsworth of Hankamer. Sisters; Jane Cranford of Devers, Joyce Troup of Anahuac, Janell Tolar of Axtell TX. Nine grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends today Thursday February 7, 2008 from 5:00P.M until 9:00 P.M. At the Batson community center located on main street, A graveside service will be held Friday February 8, 2008 at the Abshires cemetery in Devers

Services entrusted to Faith & Family Funeral Services, Batson, TX.

Childress

Funeral Service for Quincy D. Childress, 25, of Raywood, Texas, will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 1 P. M. at St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church, with the Reverend Greg Bellard, officiating, with burial in Johnson cemetery.

A native of Houston, he was a graduate of Hull-Daisetta High School, a member of St. Miles Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Army and also a pipe inspector.

He died February 3, 2008 in Raywood, Texas.

A wake service will be held Friday, February 2, at the church from 6PM to 9PM.

He is survived by his father, Arthur Childress of Raywood, his mother, Pamela Jones of Ames, his sister Quintosha Childress of Humble, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Harrington

Curlen John Harrington, 59, of Dayton, died Sunday, February 3, 2008, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Curlen was born October 8, 1948 in Kaplan, LA, to parents; Ernest and Lorena Simon Harrington, a former resident of Mississippi, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 40 years. He was a graduate of the Lambert High School class of 1967 in Mississippi, had attended the Lamar University and Lee College, a rate clerk by trade, and enjoyed playing the guitar, drums, and fiddle, politics, farming, and spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Harrington was preceded in death by his father: Ernest Harrington, brother: Ronald Harrington, niece: Angie Addington, and great-niece: Stormie Addington. He is survived by his wife: Patricia “Trish” Bourque Harrington of Dayton, daughters: Anna Harrington of Herrin, IL and Jodi Harrington of Columbia, MO, sister: Linda Addington and husband George of Dayton, mother: Lorena Simon Harrington of Dayton, grandchildren: Courtney Boudro, Sara and Julia Jamison, three nephews, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Smart

Royce Lee Smart, 75, of Liberty, Texas, died Monday, February 4, 2008.

He was born on August 14, 1932 to Aubrey and Alma (Hollyfield) Smart in Silsbee, Texas. Royce loved to fish and golf. He also traveled across the country with his family.

Royce was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Kenneth W. Smart. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret Jean (Hutto) Smart; son, Christopher M. Smart and wife Carrie; daughters, Janelle Ballinger and husband Wayne, Sheila Fiedler and husband Paul, and Melina Caldwell and husband Ronnie; sisters, Wanda Wesch and Kathleen Blackburn; brothers, Charles Smart, James Smart, Aubrey Smart, Jr., and Oliver Smart; five grandchildren, Aaron Ballinger and wife Jana, Tara Marchuk and husband Nick, Kody Fiedler, Trad Taylor, and Chayse Taylor; great-granddaughter, Taylor Ballinger; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Whitton

Edward Earl Whitton, 57, of Houston, Texas, died Saturday, February 2, 2008. He was born in Cleveland, Texas on February 28, 1950 to Jessie and Merle Whitton.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Whitton; survivors include his wife, Cora Whitton; parents, Jessie and Merle Whitton; children, Jessie Whitton and Leann, Ellen Allen and Rick, Edwin Meyer and Roxann, Daniel Meyer and Tandy, Deirdre Meyer; grandchildren, Ashton Brinkley, Haley Allen, Hanna Allen, Ryan Whitton, Haley Whitton, Emille Meyer, Weston Meyer, Kori Meyer, Dalton Meyer, Dillon Meyer, and Robin Berryhill and numerous Nieces, Nephews and many other cherished family members and caring friends beyond measure.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2008. 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Well cemetery.

McNew

Jean Ann McNew, 76, of Hardin, Texas, died February 3, 2008 in Baytown, Texas.

Jean was born on June 6, 1931 in Maryland. Jean owned a roofing company and has lived in the area for 25 years. In her spare time she enjoyed going to casinos, bingo, cooking, bowling, watching T.V. and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; she will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband James McNew, mother Francis Holt, brother Thomas Roussilon, sister Gloria Shifflet, son James McNew II, son Carl McNew and son Francis McNew. She is survived by her son Steven McNew and wife Rhonda, son Kevin McNew and wife Anna, son Timothy McNew and wife Misty, grandchildren; Heather, Justin, James, Amanda, Matthew, Rachel, Caitlyn, Elizabeth, Drayton, David, Sydney, Nicolas, Kryton, Lucian, Kevin John, Zachary, great grandchildren; Chase, Cameron, Airreanna and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday February 4, 2008 from 5-8pm at Sterling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 5, 2008 2 pm at Sterling Funeral Home.

Miller

Lisa Carol Miller “Nana”, 46, of Dayton, Texas, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008.

She was born on July 20, 1961 to Richard Dale and Nelda Ruth (Bruce) Newton in Victoria, Texas. Lisa enjoyed dancing, especially to country western music. She loved to spend time with her family.

Lisa is preceded in death by her grandparents, Leo “Papa” and Uretha “Mama” Bruce. She is survived by her parents, Richard Dale and Nelda Newton; children, Christina Coz and husband Michael and Richard Wayne Miller; sister, Cyndy Duff and husband James; brothers, Michael Newton and wife Sheri, Bruce Newton and wife Cheryl, and Brian Newton and wife Lori; grandchildren, Briana Simon, Christopher Simon, Caleb Cox, Jacob Cox, Richard Wayne Miller, Jr., Kimber Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A service of remembrance will be at 10:30 in the morning, Monday, February 4, 2008 at Allison Funeral Service with interment to follow in Palms Memorial Park.

Sullivan

Alice Lorell (Penrod) Sullivan, age 89, died Friday at Magnolia Place in Liberty.

She was born in San Augustine, Texas, November 21, 1918 the daughter of the late Guy Dillion Penrod and Anne Eliza Smith Penrod. She wed in Hull, Texas October 31, 1936 to her beloved husband Carl Jasper Sullivan who died after forty years of marriage. She retired from Hull Daisetta Junior High School after ten years of service as the snack bar clerk.

Beside her husband and parents she was preceded in death her brother Buel Penrod, son Earl Sullivan and his wife Glenna, and son-in-laws Bobby Kolb and Tommy Perry. He leaves behind her beloved children sons Douglas Sullivan and his wife Diane of Hull, TX, Richard Sullivan and his wife Amy of Carthage, TX and Wayne Sullivan and his wife Linda of Hull, TX. Her daughters Dorothy Kolb of Winnie, TX, Doris Perry of Point Blank, TX and Sharon Sullivan of Hull, TX. In addition she leaves eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-5:30 pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N.Travis Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services to be held Monday 2:30 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Fabriguse officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta.

Dunn

Jerry Don Dunn, 69, of Hull, died Wednesday January 30, 2008 at his residence.

A native of Rayland, Texas Jerry was a machinist and a U.S. Marine Reserves veteran. He was preceded in death by his son; Timothy Neal Dunn.

Survivors are his loving wife; Leona ”Jo” Dunn of Hull, Son’s; Terrill Ray Dunn and wife Cheryal of Onalaska, Anthony Dewayne Dunn and Chiara of Crockett, John Mark Dunn of Wimberly. Daughter; Connie Arlene Edmondson and husband Hollis of Hull, Brother; Joe Allen Dunn of Dumas TX, Judy Kay Sims of Pampa TX. Grandchildren; 7 Great grandchildren; 4.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday February 2, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. At First Baptist Church 516 HWY 770 Daisetta Texas. The family will be receiving friends today Friday February 1, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. Until 8:00 P.M. Also at the church. Interment will follow at the Guedry cemetery of Batson.

Services are entrusted to Faith & Family Funeral Services, Batson 936-262-2100.

Vernon

Pauline Voss Anderson Vernon died at her son’s home in Dayton, Tuesday evening, January 29, 2008. She was the daughter of Leo Pope and Effie Izetta Braziel Voss and was born in King, Coryell County, Texas, December 3, 1919, and was raised in Purmela, Coryell, County, Texas.

As a young wife, she moved to Texas City, Galveston, County and lived there for many years. She was active in the Texas City Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, Earsel and several family members were firemen in Texas City. Pauline loved her family, nature, painting, cooking and her computer which she learned to use at age 80. She used it to stay in touch with family and to learn more about the world. She retained her interests and abilities until her death. Pauline is pre-deceased by her husbands Leslie Earsel Anderson and William Vernon. She survived the deaths of her parents and sisters Ora Robertson, Ruth Anderson and Bess Jones and her brothers Odolph, Carl, Karmit, a baby brother and Millard Voss. She is survived by her son Paul Anderson and wife Mary of Dayton and grandchildren David Anderson and wife Penny of Spring and Dora Anderson Huibregtse and husband George of Hockley. She was the proud great-grandmother to Amanda Morris of Houston, Kimbely Morrison of Hockley, Stewart Anderson of Houston and Megan Anderson of Spring. Pauline also leaves a special niece and nephew, Pat Jones Williamson and Richard Jone. She leaves behind in Dayton a special friend Nancy Lawrence, who took special care of all the birds Pauline loved to watch from her apartment windows. Also, she leave her precious friends John Patterson and Mary Barnett of Longview. Pauline requested there be no service and that she be cremated and buried in the Voss family plot with her parents and brother Carl in the Hemmeline cemetery in Coryell County. Any remembrances should be in the form of books to the Dayton Library at 307 W. Houston, Dayton, Texas 77535 or the food pantry at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at 804 Cleveland in Dayton, Texas 77535.

Monahan

Margel Richter Monahan, 69, of Austin, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at home after an extended illness. She was born March 23, 1938, in Liberty, Texas to parents Dr. E. R. and Alphene Richter. A graduate of Dayton High School in 1956, Margel continued her education by receiving her Registered Nurse degree in Dallas and has been a resident of Austin for over 20 years. Services for Mrs. Monahan were 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2008 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jon Stouffer officiating. Interment followed at Magnolia Park cemetery. Mrs. Monahan was preceded in death by her father, Dr. E. R. Richter and her son, Roland Scott Roberts. She is survived by her mother: Alphene Richter of Dayton; husband: Robert J. “Bob” Monahan of Austin; son: Ernest Richard “Rusty” Roberts of Austin; daughter: Kristi and Dr. Ken Schuepbach of San Antonio; grandsons: Jack Samuel Schuepbach and Roland Scott Roberts; brother: E. R. “Sonny” Richter and wife Tish of Dayton; niece: Robyn Kline and husband Allyn of Dayton; nephew: E. R. “Bubba” Richter, III and wife Nancy of Dayton; great-nephews: Chris Conner of Frisco, Hunter Richter of Dayton and Matt Kline of Dayton.
