Agnes Louise Corder, 84, of Coldspring, Texas, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on September 18, 1923. Survivors include her children, Dorothy Havens, William Corder, Janice Beal, Evelyn Husband, Melody Roberson, Peggy Margos, Christine Peters; step-son, Junior Corder; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other cherished family members and caring friends.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 14, 2008 at Raven Hill cemetery, Oakhurst, Texas.

Marley

Grady L. Marley, age 72, of Cleveland, Texas, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008. He was born in Cleveland, Texas, on February 1, 1935 to Gomer M. and Ida Irene Marley who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Skinner Marley and two cousins.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2008, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Funeral services will be Monday, January 14, 2008 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas, with interment at Old Big Creek cemetery, Shepherd, Texas.

Wentela

William Walter Wentela, Jr., age 80, of Coldspring, Texas, died Friday, January 11, 2008. He was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on September 8, 1926 to William and Selma Wentela, Sr. who preceded him in death along with his son, Kenneth Wentela and wife, Myrtle Wentela. Survivors include his daughter, Jeri Hanson; son, Kerry Wentela; sisters, Betty Tobin; grandchildren, Maxwell Hanson, Nick Hanson, Nikki Brooks, Bret Wentela; great-grandchildren, Brendon Hanson, Julianna Hanson, Caden Brooks; nephews, Michael Tobin; nieces, Bobby Lunch, Maureen Brinkman, Patti Joers, Kathleen Nelson and many other loving and caring family members and cherished friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2008, 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 17, 2008, 11:00 a.m. Evergreen cemetery, Elba, Alabama.

Stinnett

Katherine Earline Stinnett, 48, of Daisetta, died Friday January 11, 2008 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

A native of Liberty she had lived in Daisetta and was a homemaker.

Survivors include husband; Sammy Stinnett of Daisetta, daughters; Melissa Hatchcoat of Liberty, Melody DeLosSantos of Dallas. Brothers; Ray Duff of Raywood, and Larry Duff of Daisetta, Sisters; Kimberly Tanner of Daisetta, Gwen Robinson of Baytown, Ilene Puckett of Lake Jackson.

Graveside service was held Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. At Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta.

Services were entrusted to Faith & Family Funeral Services Inc., PO Box 220, Batson, TX 77519, 936-262-2100

Welch

Ruby Welch, 90, died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the Magnolia Place Health Care in Liberty, TX.

Ruby was born to parents, Bill Davis and Girtie Fleishman on September 11, 1917 in Cedar Bayou, TX. Ruby was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, and yard work. She was a Baptist by faith. She enjoyed her family.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie Van Welch; brother, Raymond “Bud” Davis and two sisters, Dorthy Permenter and Bessie Jannise.

She is survived by daughter, Billie Johnson and husband Eugene of Raywood, TX; brother, Dub Davis of Sherman, TX; grandsons, Mike Johnson and wife, Mollie of Kountze, TX and Brian Johnson and wife Sandy of Winnie, TX. Great-grandchildren, Amanda Wright, Colt Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Chris Johnson, and Shelby Johnson and great-great children, Abby Wright and Katie Wright along with nine nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 10 A.M. at the Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty. There will be a visitation held on Sunday, January 13 from 5-8 P.M. at the Allison Funeral Service.

Cunningham

Chester Earl Cunningham “Big Earl”, 73, of Houston, Texas, died Thursday, January 10, 2008. He was born in Fayette County, Texas, on May 25, 1934 to Thomas Raymond and Maude (Null) Cunningham. “Big Earl” loved to work. He owned his own Transportation company. When he wasn’t working he deer and bird hunted and golfed.

“Big Earl” is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Earl Cunningham and wife Laurel of Baytown, John Clifford Cunningham and wife Julie of Channelview, and Kyle Wayne Cunningham and wife Diana of Katy; daughter, Kimberly Lynn Bargen and husband Richard of Killeen; former wife, Diana Lynn Cunningham of Webster; sister, La Nelle Key and husband John “Nubbin” of Hardin; brother, Cecil Cunningham and wife Delores of Liberty; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 until 1:00 PM Saturday, January 12 at Allison Funeral Service. A service of remembrance will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 12 with Rev. Gideon Watson officiating.

Coe

Bruce S. Coe died on January 10, 2008 in Baytown. Bruce was born in Liberty, on May 20, 1920 to parents, Gabriel Herf Coe and Eunice Christenson.

He accepted Christ at the age of twelve. He was a deacon with a servant’s heart and participated in many mission trips and youth camps. He was a faithful Sunday School teacher in churches in Beaumont, Houston, and Liberty.

He served in the United Stated Army Air Force during WWII. He was married to Jenibel Stokes Coe for 62 years. Bruce was an Engineer for Sun Oil Company prior to his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Herbert H. Coe and Leroy D. Coe. He is survived by his wife, Jenibel; children, Judi Coe Hodges, Gregory D. Coe and Jan Graham; sister, Uarda Herndon and four grandchildren, Blake Graham, Allen C. Hodges, Crystal C. Flatt and Joshua D. Coe. Many other friends and family also survive.

At long last his and our prayers have been answered. His broken body is now whole as he experiences the presence of our Lord.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2007 at 10 A.M. at the City cemetery in Liberty, TX.

Robertson

Ella Bertha Wade Robertson, 72, of Dayton, died, Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at home after an extended illness.

She was born August 12, 1935 in Fetzer, Texas, to parents: Leslie P. and Virgie Mae Sheffield Wade. A member of the Magnolia High School Class of 1954, she attended Blinn Jr. College and was employed at United Gas where she met and married her loving husband, James H. “Jim” Robertson, Jr. on August 24, 1956 in Magnolia, Texas. She had been a resident of Channelview before moving to Dayton in 1969. She worked in banking for over 30 years, was a member and volunteer of the First Baptist Church, enjoyed sewing, quilting, photography and working in her yard and garden. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Trinity River Travelers.

Services for Mrs. Robertson will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Dayton, with the Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. Interment will follow at San Jacinto Memorial cemetery in Houston, under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Pace-Stancil.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 51 years: James H. “Jim” Robertson, Jr. of Dayton; her son: Leslie J. Robertson and wife Denita of Cleveland; her daughter: Patricia “Pat” Smith & husband Harry of Pearland; eight grandchildren: Brandy, Wade, James, Bridgett, Luchia, Nicole, Rosa, and Vito; and four great-grandchildren; sisters: Loise Lemm of Spring, Jenette Alford and husband Bill; twin brother: John Wade and wife Glenda of Knippa, Texas, also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

McAlister

Sam William McAlister of Liberty, TX, died January 9, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family.

Sam was born to parents, Sam Bronson McAlister and Leta Freeman in Woodville, TX in February, 1924. He attended the Woodville High School and University of Texas, graduating in 1949. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Liberty Rotary Club, Magnolia Ridge Country Club, The First United Methodist Church of Liberty and also served in the United States Army as a Corporal. Sam was the owner of McAlister Oldsmobile-Cadillac Dealership in Liberty for many years. He was married to Frances McAlister for 56 years.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Frances, daughters; Martha Black and husband, Glenn of Austin and Cathy McAlister of Bel Air, TX; sister, Eleeta Ezer of Anahuac; Nephew, Mike Ezer and niece, Lea Ann Ciavarra.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 11 A.M. at the Magnolia cemetery in Woodville, TX. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Thursday, January 10, from 5-8 P.M. at the Allison Funeral Home, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Hoot

Fred Winfrey Hoot, age 95, of New Waverly, San Jacinto County, Texas, died Monday, January 7, 2008. He was born in Willow Springs, Texas on March 29, 1912 to Leonard Nelson Hoot and Agnes Virginia Hoot who preceded him in death along with his loving wife, Will Lee Hoot. Survivors include his children, Sue Cox and husband, Gene, Robert Hoot and wife, Delta; grandchildren, Kathy and Lonnie Crum, Donald and Rhonda Cox, Larry Hoot; great-grandchildren, Christian Crum, Michael Crum, Chris Dees, Philip Dees, Sarah Dees, Don Cox, Jr., Adrienne Marie Griffin, Corey Robert Hoot; two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, Wilma Cox and Carol Winfrey; nephews and their spouses, Floyd and Beverly Hillhouse, Cecil and Barbara Hillhouse, Chuck Thompson; sister, Lela Thompson and husband, Truitt; and numerous other family members and caring friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 10, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Coldspring, Texas with interment at Mt. Zion, Stephen Creek, Texas.

Fletcher

Clarence Edward Fletcher, age 72, of Cleveland, Texas, died Monday, January 7, 2008. He was born in Boxelder, Texas on February 26, 1935 to Walter E. and Bertha May Fletcher who preceded him in death along with his brother, Leo Earl Fletcher; and his sister, Charslie Cathline Hammers.

Survivors include his brother, Paul Fletcher and wife, Billie; nephews, Dennis Earl Fletcher, Russel Fletcher, David Fletcher; nieces, Nancy Pate and Geneva Gary; and friends beyond measure.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment following at Lum Garden of Memories, Macedonia, Texas.

Lee

Rufus Taff Lee, 78, of Batson, died Sunday January 6, 2008 at his residence.

Born in Daisetta, he was a retired truck driver with Smarts Material of Liberty.

Rufus was preceded in death by his son Leonard Eugene Lee. He is survived by his wife; Ann Lee of Batson, Stepsons; Marvin Carouthers of Batson, Ricky Carouthers and wife Sandra of Hardin. Stepdaughter; Gaylon LeNormand and husband Rudy of Batson, brother; George Lee of Batson. 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held today Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. Until 9:00 P.M. At The Daisetta United Pentecostal church. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Also at the church. Interment will follow at French cemetery in Kenefick.

Lorraine

Barbara “Barbo” Clegg Lorraine, 67, of Humble, died Saturday, January 5, 2008 after a brief illness.

She was born August 23, 1940 in Broaddus, Texas to parents: Chess and Ina Williams Clegg. She was a graduate of Galena Park High School in 1958. She had been an employee of Macy’s at Deerbrook Mall in Humble for over 25 years, and had lived in the Kingwood- Humble area for the past 15 years. She had previously lived in Dayton and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Lorraine was a very giving and helping person whose life revolved around her family and her co-workers.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Lorraine will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Chris Trousdale officiating.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Don Lorraine, and brother: James T. Clegg. She is survived by her sisters: Ava Pleggenkuhle of Atascocita and Paulyne Trousdale of Dayton; her nieces: Anne Davis of Humble and Carmen Davis of Marion, Arkansas; her nephews: Mike and Mark Clegg of Conway, Arkansas; her brother-in-law: Cliff Pleggenkuhle of Huffman; and her special grandbabies: Quin, Piper, London and Jett Davis of Atascocita. Also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Havard

Julia Lydessa Swan Havard, of the Liberty-Hardin area died Friday, January 4, 2008 at 101 years of age. She was born September 23, 1906 in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, to parents, George and Willemena Preising Swan. She moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at an early age before moving to Texas.

Julia lived in Highlands for many years where she worked as a sales clerk for Kaplan’s Department Store before moving to this area where she has resided for the past 40 years. A member of North Main Baptist Church, she had the distinction of being the oldest member and was also a volunteer at the Autumn Hills Nursing Home for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Eugene Swan, Ernest Swan, and George Swan and one sister: Alma Swan. She is survived by nieces: Barbara Barrow and Judy McKinney of Hardin; nephews: Steve Swan of Liberty and Jimmy Swan of New Orleans; also numerous great nieces and nephews.

Tanton

Fredia Mae (Clark) Tanton, 68, of Liberty, Texas, died Tuesday, January 1, 2007. She was born on October 1, 1939 to Earl Edward and Jessie Mae (Hales) Clark in Cleveland, Texas. Fredia loved to sew and do arts and crafts.

Fredia was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Zula Earlene Graham and Carol G. Franklin. She is survived by her children, Tommy David Nance and wife Jennifer of Baytown, Cynthia Wiggins of Austin, Tori Vinson, and James Lesley Crockett of Giddings; sisters, Shirley Barker and Martha Tanton and husband Doyle of Liberty; grandchildren, Nikita Nance, Janie Burns, Brandy Taffey, Katie Sicola, Michael Shane Wikson, Heather, Megan Crockett, James Nicholas Crockett, James Lesley Crockett, and Brian Crockett; great-grandchildren, Andreas Taffey and Anisia Taffey; and numerous more nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, January 3 at Bible Way Pentecostal Church, 7971 Hwy 146 North. A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 4 at Bible Way Pentecostal Church with Brother Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside cemetery.

Adams

Dorothy Mae Adams, age 81, formerly of Liberty, TX, died in the Hospice Odyssey House in Conroe, TX, Monday, December 31, 2007.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 1:00 P. M., at the Woodlawn Garden of Memories 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, Texas 77055, with the Reverend David Edwards officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX., from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Dorothy was born on September 3, 1926 in San Antonio, TX., to Henry John Niemann and Lillian Francis Brunner Niemann. She graduated from the Incarnate Word High School in Houston, TX. Dorothy married Jack Adams and they made Liberty their home for many years. She was an electronics technicians for the Key Stone Exploration Company. She was a active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Liberty, TX. She enjoyed playing golf, working in her garden, and a good game of dominos.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband. The survivors are a son Wayne Winn and his wife Mary Ann, of Magnolia, TX, a brother: Gene Niemann and wife Carolyn of Houston, TX., a step-son: Robert Adams of North Carolina, a step-daughter: Judy Entzenberger and husband Paul of Houston, TX., Six grandchildren and Four great grandchildren, and a host of other family member and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Odyssey House, 233 I-45 North, Conroe, TX.

Ploch

Richard Eugene Ploch, Jr., 38, of Dayton, died Monday, December 31, 2007, in Dayton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2007, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Richard was born June 22, 1969, in San Bernardino, CA, to parents; Richard E., Sr. and Linda Petersen Ploch, and has resided in the Dayton area throughout his life. He was a graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1987, had attended Lee College, and graduated from Universal Technical Institute. He was employed as a mechanic for Centrifuge Repair and Engineering of LaPorte for the past four years, member of the Eastgate Church, and enjoyed trading, rebuilding vehicles, collecting knives and coins, fishing, and hunting. Mr. Ploch was preceded in death by his grandparents: Chris and Lois Petersen and Jimmie Hill. He is survived by his wife of 17 years: Jodi Fayle Ploch of Dayton, daughter: RaeLynn Nicole Ploch of Dayton, sons: Chase Glenn Fayle and wife Katie of Dayton and Payton Eugene Ploch of Dayton, parents: Richard Eugene, Sr. and Linda Ploch of Dayton, Sister: Lori Christine Ploch of Austin and sister-in-law: Tricia Strother and husband Chris of Baytown, nephews: Ian and Tristan, niece: Jaci, grandfather: Eugene L. Ploch of Pleasanton, parents-in-law: Bobby and Nelda Fayle of Baytown, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Davis

Nannie Beatrice Davis, age 89, of Liberty, TX, died at her home in Liberty, TX, on Monday, December 31, 2007.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2008, at 2:00 P. M. at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX., with the Rev. Kenneth Kelley and Rev. Jerry Hovater officiating, with burial in the Fairlawn cemetery, Liberty, TX.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Allison Funeral Service from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

She was born on May 5, 1918 in Auburn, KY., to George Washington Woodward and Lena Marks Clark Woodward. Nannie Beatrice married Douglas Watson Davis on November 25, 1943 in Port Arthur, TX, and they made their home in southeast Texas. They were members of the Baptist Church and she worked in the Video Rental Store in Liberty, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great grandson: Carter Douglas Thompson. Survivors are three daughters: Glenda Sue Thompson and Lena Barbara Wiggins of Liberty, TX, and Wanda Nan Sims of Porter, TX. a sister: Lucille Cox of Auburn, KY. Six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
