Seilhan

Clifton John Seilhan, 79, of Dayton, Texas, died Sunday October 21, 2007 at Heritage Villa Nursing Home in Dayton.

He was born April 23, 1928 in Iota, LA the son of the late Walter and Ozeim (Leger) Seilhan. He was a retired Iron Worker with Ethel Corp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ella Mae Seilhan, and a brother Francis Seilhan.

He leaves behind his brothers, Huey and Alton Seilhan, sister, Gloria Doskocil, niece Peggy Seilhan and his close friends Bubba and Lorraine Fuller.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 5-7pm at the Sterling Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be private.

Osbolt

Rose Osbolt, 92, of Liberty, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at the Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 2 P.M., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty with Monsignor Richard DeStefano, Reverend David Edwards and Deacon Luther Wells officiating. A visitation will be held at Allison Funeral Service, Tuesday from 5p.m. until 8p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00pm.

Rose was born September 23, 1915 in Louisiana to parents, Frank Osbolt and Mary Magdalene Zagar. She was a 1933 graduate of Liberty High School. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Third Age Group. Rose retired from Texas Gulf Sulphur where she worked for many years as a secretary.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Francis Million, Pauline Loggins, and six brothers, Joe, Frank, Edward, Valentine, Antone, and Stephen Osbolt.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Ripkowski and husband Leon, and Margrette Pugh, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kelly

Cal Hugh Kelly died peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2007, surrounded by family. He was born in Beaumont on December 10, 1935 to Louise and Edgar Kelly. He grew up in the Beaumont area and attended Beaumont High School. He was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University and received a Masters of Theology from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He married Diane Daigle on December 27, 1958 and was ordained an Elder in the United Methodist Church in 1969.

During his years of ministry, his charges included Forest Park in Beaumont (as a student minister), Crossroads, Union Ridge Circuit, Pine Hill Circuit, New Diana Circuit, associate pastor of First United Methodist in Orange, Teneha, East Houston, China, Daisetta-Devers Circuit and Middleton Memorial Methodist Church in Wallisville. He was also a teacher in the prison system for the Hightower Unit in Dayton.

Cal had been active in the Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was an avid fisherman and was instrumental in the establishment of the Hull Daisetta Volunteer EMS/Ambulance Service.

Cal is survived by his wife, Diane of Houston; his daughters, Kristina Waldrop and her husband of Tim of Cedar Park and Elaine Kelly Diaz and her husband Mike of Houston; granddaughters, Lauren Waldrop, ‘Lizabeth Waldrop and Hayli Salinas; brother, James Kelly of Beaumont; aunt and uncle, Adrian and Ruth Mathieu of Vidor; nephews, Mike Kelly and Ron Kelly; nieces, Kathy Campbell and Michelle Bartholomew; and a host of friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at First United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eddy Scurlock Stroke Program at the Methodist Foundation, P.O. Box 4384, Houston, Texas 77210-4384 or to The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center-McCombs Institute, P.O. 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486.

Special thanks to the staff of Heartland Hospice and Heartland Willowbrook, as well as Dr. James Ling of Methodist Hospital and Dr. Kevin Lisman of Houston Cardiology Associates.

Gilley

Lonnie “Sonny” R. Gilley, 81, of Cypress, Texas, died Thursday, 18, 2007. He was born in Moran, Texas on March 23, 1926 to Alonzo W. and Elsie Gilley who preceded him in death along with his wife, Geraldine M. Gilley; daughter, Jody Lynn and all his sisters and brothers.

Survivors include his son, Ronnie Gilley and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Jennifer Evans, Sonya Howard, and Jessica Jordan; great-grandchildren, Dwayne, Delana, Cleo, Rebecca, Carlee, Jesse, and Jami and so many other loving family members and caring friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 20, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Ryan cemetery.

Daniels

Richard D. “Rick” Daniels, Jr., 49, of Dayton, died Thursday, October 18, 2007 in Houston.

He was born January 4, 1958 in Texarkana, Texas to parents: Richard Daniels, Sr. and Ailene Buford Daniels. He had lived in the Dayton area for the past 12 years, previously of Dallas. He was previously employed by Hunt Co. in Pasadena as a forklift operator. Rick enjoyed fishing, boxing, and martial arts. He was a member of the Baytown Revival Center.

Services for Mr. Daniels will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his father: Richard D. Daniels, Sr. and is survived by his wife Murlene Jordan Daniels of Dayton; his sons: Richard Dakota Daniels of Dayton, Johnny Knight of Baytown, Leo Knight of Alvin, and Chad Allen Daniels of Bonham; his daughters: Michelle Alexander of Baytown, April Lynn Young of Old River, Jessica Daniels of Bonham, Patricia Lynn Daniels of Bonham, Dosha Daniels of Bonham; his mother: Ailene Fields of McKinney; thirteen grandchildren; also numerous other family member and a host of friends.

Kirchner

James E. Kirchner, 81, of Hardin, died Thursday, October 18, 2007. He was born December 12, 1925 in Jerseyville, Illinois to parents: Harold Walker and Eva Elizabeth Ewin Kirchner. He had been a resident of the area for over 25 years, was a retired Merchant Marine, enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Anita Kirchner.

There are no services scheduled at this time.

Brinser

Chu Brinser, age 76, on August 16, 1931, of Tarkington Prairie, Texas, died Tuesday at the Woodland Memorial Hermann October 16, 2007.

Her family originated in Central China, The Kiangsu Province. Her father was killed during the China’s war with Japan and her mother raised the children and cared for the grandparents and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her father, Wei-Ching Shiah; mother, Chu-Shen Shiah; and her loving husband, Amos Albert Brinser.

Survivors include daughters, Connie Chu Lehnen and husband, James Joseph, Sue Hsia Taylor and husband, Kenneth Charles; son, Amos William Brinser and fiancé, Tracy Mize; sisters, Chan Zhu (living in China), Chan Hsia Yeh (living in New York), Hsia Zy Jou (living in Massachusetts); brothers, Liang Hsia (living in California), Guang Hsia (living in Taiwan), Paul Shiah (living in Philadelphia); grandchildren, Erin Rae Tanner and husband, Daniel Keith, Alison Chu Krawacki, Jamie Nicole Lehnen, Kyle James Lehnen, Christopher David Brinser, Nicholas William Brinser, Derek Alan Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other family members and countless friends.

Visitation will be Friday, October 19, 2007, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Rev. Robert Brown will conduct funeral services 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, with interment immediately following at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Freeman

Velma Estelle Bates Freeman, 71, of Baton Rouge, died Tuesday, October 16 after an extended illness. She was born October 12, 1936 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to parents Andrew Jefferson Bates, Sr. and Betty Elvada Thompson Bates.

Graveside services for Mrs. Freeman will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin with Mr. Richard Moody officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday prior to the service at the cemetery. Services are under the arrangement of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Juanita, Eunice, Andrea, Ibalene, Irene, Verla, and Imelda; her brothers: Andrew Jefferson Bates, Jr. and Ernest Berry; and her grandson: Dexx Allen Ross. She is survived by her daughters: Gracie Lee Burch and R.D. Fregia of Ames, and Teresa Thomas of Wallisville; grandchildren: Thelma Jean Lloyd, Teresa Jean Lloyd, Tessa Lynn Burch, Selena Kaye Cain, Loryie Lee Burch, Daniel Eugene Burch; great-grandchildren: Joshua, Taylor, Kyser, Tristan, Kimberly, Nicole, Zackery, Justin, Jacoba, and Tyler; sisters: Delilah Bird of Baytown, Emma Webb and husband Jim of Baytown, Darlene Lawson, and Judy VanOver and husband Dan of Washington.

Wilson

Carolyn Ann Whitehead Wilson, 51, of Dayton, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 in Galveston after an extended illness. She was born January 16, 1956 in Houston, Texas to parents, James Dale Whitehead and Betty Ann Mayhew Whitehead. She was a long time resident of this area and enjoyed doing crafts.

Services for Mrs. Wilson will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be 9:00 to 5:00, Thursday at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: James Dale Whitehead, Jr., Leon Roosevelt Tuttle, III, and nephew: Ronnie Wayne Tuttle. She is survived by her husband: Kevin Lynn Wilson; her son: Aaron Wilson; her brothers: Charles Whitehead and wife Brenda; Ronnie Tuttle and wife Kay; Niece: Amy Lynn Tuttle; Cousin: Karen Sue Smith and husband Steve; Aunt: Pauline Buckner and Mary Matranga; Also a host of other friends and relatives.

Burrell

Julia May Burrell, age 94, of Devers, TX, died at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, TX, on Tuesday, October 16, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 2 P.M., at the Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. A visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 12-2 P.M prior to the service.

Julia was born on February 20, 1913 in Magnolia Spring, TX to Samuel Arthur Dempsey and Velia Justice. She was married to Claude Burrell until his death in 1991. She was a member of the Daisetta Assembly of God Church and taught Sunday School for 60 years. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary Council for 40 years. She loved sewing, gardening and being a “Personal Advisor.”

Julia is preceded in death by her husband, Claude; parents; son, Claude Burrell Jr.; daughter-in-law Sue Burrell and great- granddaughter, Michal Russo.

She is survived by daughter, Louise and her husband, Clay Hanna; son, Roy Burrell and wife, Vonda. Eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive.

King

Mary Jannise King, 94, of Anahuac, Texas, died Friday, October 12, 2007. She was born on February 24, 1913 to Annore Jannise and Hermance Blanchard in Church Point, Louisiana. Mary King was a devoted member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Anahuac, Texas, an avid seamstress, quilter, and gardener. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 48 years, Carl King; five brothers; four sisters; one grandson; and one great-grandson. She is survived by her children, John Wesley King and wife Betty of Winnie, Texas; Emory Joseph King and wife Jackie of Angleton, Texas; and Julia King Selman and husband Lonnie of Wallisville, Texas; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Ceciele Connell of Raywood, Texas, Hazel Lee Hylton of Beaumont, Texas, Lily Estes of Lufkin, Texas, and Pauline Shauberger of La Fayette, Louisiana; and many more nieces, nephews and good friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, October 15 with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 16 at 2:00 PM with interment to follow in Anahuac cemetery.

Havard

Lela Calline “Callie” Havard, age 21, resident of Cleveland, Texas, died in a tragic car accident October 12, 2007. Callie was born in Baytown, Texas to Dale Havard and Cindy Sumner on July 31, 1986. Callie was a fun loving girl with lots of heart. Her family and friends will miss her immensely.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2007 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Dr. W.C. Burns will conduct funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2007 atPace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Lum’s Garden of Memories, Tarkington Prairie, Texas

Callie is preceded in death by her grandfather, Bernard Havard; grandfather, Gary R. Sumner; uncle, Jody R. Sumner. Survivors include her parents; grandmothers, Betty Havard, Linda Vance, and Brenda Primeaux; step-mother, Barbara Helmcamp; sister, Destiny Anne Havard; brother, Cory Richard Havard; nephews, Klayton and Garrett Smith and many, many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.

Bagby

Lydia Bernice Bagby, age 72, of Anahuac, TX, died Friday in a Baytown Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 10 A.M., in the Our Lady of Light Catholic Church with the Reverend Neil Arce officiating with burial in the Anahuac cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday October 16, 2007 from 5pm until 8pm at the Sterling Funeral Home 1201 South Main Street Anahuac, TX, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 P. M. Mrs. Bagby was born on December 9, 1934 in Evansville, IN, to Bernis and Irene Docery. She attended the Bosse high school and married Abraham L. Bagby on December 26, 1950. They moved to the Anahuac area in 1972 and this home. Mrs. Bagby owned and operated the DB hives Video Store in Anahuac for years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and the survivors are her husband, Abraham L. Bagby of Anahuac, a daughter, Elene Bagby of Anahuac, two sons; David and wife Deanna Bagby of Mt. Belvieu, TX and Daniel and wife Jennie Bagby of Anahuac, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. And a host of other family and friends.

Johnson

Travis Allan Johnson died on Friday, October 5, 2007 after a long illness with cancer. Travis was a lifetime resident of Cleveland; born in Houston, Texas 17 years ago on September 18, 1990. Travis was a fun loving child that grew up to be a very respectable young man. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed eating the game that he bagged too. Baseball was a sport that was trilling to him. He loved playing ball and going to the games. He adored his animals, that you could clearly see. Travis has so many Ribbons and Trophies they can’t all be displayed. Most of all though . . . he loved his family and friends.

Waiting to meet him on the other side are his brother, Joshua Johnson; great-grandmother, Florence Pevehouse; grandmother, Priscilla Keeton; grandfather, Raymond Johnson. Survivors include his parents, Johnny and Deborah Johnson; grandparents, Richard Becker and wife, Mary, JoAnn Anderson; his inspirational friend, Courtney Huckabay and David Lee Sheffield along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many other loving and caring family members and cherished friends beyond measure.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 9, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, Cleveland, Texas 77328. His final resting place is at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Hobbs

Estella Helen Hobbs, born June 18, 1916 in Yorktown, Texas, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 91.

She was preceded in death by her parents Benhardt (Ben) and Lydia Louise (Halberdier) Pieper of George West, Texas. She was the last living child in her family of eight children, including her brothers Sam, Ed, Arthur, John Hugo, Alfred, and Jerome Pieper, and by her sister Elsa Lehmberg. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Leonard K. Hobbs and great granddaughter, Lydia Ruby Pearce.

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law Helen and Troy Bearden of New Braunfels, Texas, Betty Jo and David Phillips of Willis, Texas, and Ruby and Homer McDonald of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Regina DeLine, Troy D. Bearden, Cherie Aills, and Suzanne Pearce and husband, Rex; two sisters-in-law Sally Pieper and Mary Pieper; and her nine great grandchildren Mike DeLine and wife, Diana, Jason DeLine, Kirby DeLine, Eden Pearce, Ethan Pearce, Abigail (Abby) Pearce, Robby Aills, Haley Aills and Victoria Bearden and many nieces and nephews.

Known by many as Granny Hobbs, she lived her early life on the farm in Live Oak County and near the old Rabke Community. Later she married and eventually moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she lived for many years until all of her children were grown and married . In recent years she was a resident of Cleveland, Texas until she realized a dream of moving to her first new home, which was built for her by family and friends so she would have their care and support as her health waned.

She will always be remembered for her independence, self sufficiency and hard work ethic and her wonderful bake goods. She was always an example of strength and loved and revered by the many people who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be celebrated by family and friends at a graveside service on October 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens on Hwy 2025 (Cold Springs Rd), Cleveland, Texas. about 5 miles out Cold Springs Rd).

Alton

Kenneth H. Alton, 60, of Coldspring, Texas, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007.

He was born in Watertown, New York on December 25, 1947.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sally Alton; sisters, Marsha, Sharon; sons, Kenneth Alton, Jr. and Vanessa, James Miller and Angie; sisters, Marie Anderson and James, Terri Richards; 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; numerous other loving family members and caring friends.
